Damn the Girl

Sesshoumaru sat fixedly twirling Kagome’s necklace between his fingers. The half completed Shikon was spinning brightly on its chain, captivating him. ‘Demons of all races obsess over this jewel for its power,’ he thought, ’so why would she give it to me?’

The jewel continued to spin enticingly, refracting light on the jagged edges where it was incomplete and glowing where it was. He continued to stare into its depths as he thought over Kagome’s actions.

‘It was rude of her to use me, of all demons. And she being a human! Why didn’t I kill her?’ He swung the jewel up and into his hand as he laid back into the chair for a more relaxing position.

‘Why did she give –me- the jewel and take the risk that I’d use its powers for myself? Why risk dying to give this to someone equally as threatening, if not more? True I wouldn’t give it to Naraku, but...’

This is why he hated humans. Not only were they inferior in all areas, but they stunk, were dumb, and took many unnecessary risks. Like Kagome; she couldn’t fight to save her life, she reeked of -overly feminine- scents, was stupid enough to apparently get caught, and the unnecessary risks? Kami there were too many!

Sesshoumaru squeezed the jewel in frustration. A small piece broke off into his hand and fell to the floor when his grip relaxed. He looked over at the broken shard and mentally sighed.

‘That roach brought me into this crap, so she’s going to get me out...’
He reached over and picked up the shard, then twirled it between his thumb and forefinger. Knowing it would be useless to attempt at bonding the shard back with the jewel he set both upon his desk.

‘Great,’ he thought. ‘Now I have something else to protect. Damn girl!’

He tapped his finger on the desk, trying to think of what to do. He could just give it back to her... but then he would have to take her from Naraku, which he didn’t want to do. So that added another problem. And once she got the jewel, would she have to remain with him until Naraku was –finally- dead? It’s already been proven that Inuyasha’s little party could not take care of it, yet another problem.

Sesshoumaru picked up the jewel and humphed (A/N teehee), deciding that it would no longer be his responsibility once the girl had it back in her possession. He would merely make sure that it wouldn’t leave her once she returned...that would be less work, -and- less of a headache than having her here.

He mentally groaned at the thought of her presence in his castle. The only good that could possibly come of this is that Rin would have a new playmate. Even that had its downside.

He looked toward the sky to see what position the moon was in. It hung above the trees, glowing brightly and promising troubling times in the near future. Too near, as a matter of fact.

Sesshoumaru could already feel the constant migraines he would endure within the next week.

Sighing, he placed the half competed jewel around his neck, and the shard into a book. ‘Not as safe as the jewel, but who would look for it there,’ he mused, and then off to bed it was.

“DAMN IT YOU WENCH!!! TELL ME WHERE THE JEWEL IS!”

Five nights had already passed and still nothing. No matter how hard he beat her, no matter how many times he’d threatened her, she still remained relentless.

Naraku held Kagome off the floor and even to his face by her neck. Every night he always received the same reply, a blank stare. This night was no different, as he looked into her eyes the only thing that was apparent was that she was definitely –not- going to tell him.

This little game was no longer fun to him, and oddly enough beating her every night was becoming old as well. Finally he gave up and threw her against the wall then walked away from the sickening thud that could be heard as Kagome hit it.

He angrily left the dungeon and walked to the east wing of his ‘palace,’ thoughts of that incompetent wench swimming around in his head.

‘How dare she!’ He laughed to himself manically as he thought of the situation. ‘What could that little bitch have done with it?!’ Naraku pondered over this for a few seconds in the middle of the hallway, when suddenly it hit him. ‘Sesshoumaru!’

He couldn’t believe it. He just couldn’t believe it. It had to have been him, but he couldn’t believe it! She is surely not that stupid, but then again...what other choice did she have? He laughed to himself and suddenly stopped, his face straightening .

‘Oh that bitch is gonna pay.’

He then hastily headed towards the east tower.

Once reached, he threw open the door and was greeted by the shocked faces of Kikyou and Miss Silbera. Though he wasn’t too pleased to see Kikyou at the moment, it was better that she is present. Since she was knowledgeable about miko ways she could help Miss Silbera with her task.

He smiled at them, and barely noticeably laughed. His expression was twisted with rage and humor, either hand rested on the doorway as he leaned into the room.

Kikyou and Miss Silbera quickly exchanged glances, unsure of whether they were going to be punished themselves or if they were going to punish someone else. Their thoughts were answered soon enough.

“I need a spell for the miko. I want her to be...anything! It must be painful, and she must have the power to retain her natural form. Just something.... You have until tomorrow.” Then as quickly as he came, he left.

Kikyou continued to stare at the now empty doorway searching through all of her memories for something that would fit Naraku’s wants and her ‘needs.’

Miss Silbera, meanwhile, went to her book case and pulled down multiple books she assumed would have something as well. When she was done, she looked at the massive pile sighed.

“Why doesn’t he just kill her and have some psycho follower pick at her memories?”

Kikyou stirred from her thoughts and looked to Miss Silbera, “Isn’t it obvious? He’s already figured out where the jewel is. Not only that, but I assume that Kagome dead would do nothing for his plans, and besides, I get to kill her.”

“Well, I don’t know what to do.”

“We could take away part of her soul,” Kikyou suggested.

Miss Silbera looked down at Kikyou disapprovingly. She knew why Kikyou was here, and that is why Naraku asked her to remain at the castle, to protect this Kagome in a way.

“Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of something less complex...something simple. Youkai poison permanently streaming through her blood. It would be painful, but would not kill her since we are not actual Youkai, however, it is essentially the same.”

Kikyou smirked at her. “It cannot essentially be the same if we concoct it and it does not actually kill her. Think of something else.”

“Shut up you undead clay pot! It is called ‘Youkai Poison of the Summoners.’ It is –essentially- Youkai poison because it could be just as potent, and can only be cured if the blood of a full blooded Youkai enters the victims blood stream-“

“The same way Youkai cure each other in cases of a foreign Youkai poison.”

Miss Silbera sneered at Kikyou for the interruption.

“Yes,” she hissed, “the same reason they are immune to their own poison and other similar or less potent ‘foreign poisons,’” she mocked. “There is one downfall though...”

Kikyou quirked an eyebrow, waiting for her to continue.

“It will take at least a day to prepare.”

“Whatever, you old witch. Run it by Naraku and we’ll go from there.”

“Why don’t you?”

Kikyou cast a dirty look in Miss Silbera’s direction, knowing full and well that if she didn’t it would be her own downfall. Kikyou stood and left to her own temporary room in defeat.

Kagome sat frozen to the floor next to the wall.

She stared into the darkness, as she had for the past few nights, just thinking. After Naraku had left her she hadn’t been able to move much, save to eat and go to the bathroom. Her body was sore and bruised. Of course, she knew he would inflict pain of any measure on her, especially if it would get her to crack and tell him where the jewel was.

She sneered at the darkness, ‘I’ll never tell him!’

Her anger didn’t last very long. She sighed and picked up a small pebble lying next to her and dropped it. She continued this process for a while, until her thoughts become more amusing than the pebble.

‘I hope Sesshoumaru will make sure it stays safe. But what was I thinking?! He will probably kill me the next time he sees me! If he sees me again...’

She looked around her small room again as if to acknowledge that there was no way out and Naraku wasn’t going to let her leave anytime soon.

‘Dang it,’ she thought. She placed her hands over her head and rested her chin on her knee’s. “Now what am I going to do?”

Kagome let out a long sigh when suddenly the door opened. She rolled her eyes again, expecting it to be Naraku coming back for another beating.

“Kagome, I just wanted to let you know that tomorrow you will change your mind about everything. I promise”

“Yeah right Naraku. Give me a break, you might as well kill me and get some psycho minion of yours to pick at my memories to find out where the jewel is. You’d have better luck.”

He remained silent, as if contemplating what she had just said.

“You know, Kagome that is a good idea.”

She stiffened slightly, mentally smacking herself in her stupidity. Then she paused...can that actually be done?

“And yes, I could do that if I wanted to; however, I already know where the jewel is. You gave it to Sesshoumaru, so now you will be punished,” he said, wagging a finger at her.

“Naraku, don’t be so foolish. Why would I give the jewel to –another- demon, who I might add is way more dangerous and way hotter than you. I’d rather be with him and die afterwards than so much as touch you!”

“My, my. Haven’t you gotten a bit brave? I’ll tell you what, when you see him you can tell him that, okay?”

Kagome sucked in her breath.

“What?”

“Oh, that’s right. I forgot to tell you didn’t I? When I’m done with you, Sesshoumaru gets you. You sleep well, you’ll need the energy for tomorrow.”

He walked out and shut the door, leaving Kagome in the darkness once again.
