Seperated

Now I am nowhere near as witty as other writers, so I’ll get straight to the point. I don’t own Inuyasha.

~~Chapter 5: Separated~~

Inutaisho picked up the phone as it rang the next day. It was Kagome asking to speak to Inuyasha. He could hear the whimpers of her crying even though she was trying to hide it. His heart sank in his chest realizing the only thing that could make her cry like that. He had no doubt her mother would do it. He immediately got Inuyasha and handed him the phone, telling him it was Kagome.

“Hey Kagome. I’m sorry about yesterday.” He said as soon as he picked up the phone. As soon as he said that, she began to sob uncontrollably. “Kagome? What’s wrong? I said I was sorry! Please stop crying!”

Through the crying she managed to get it out. “My mom… says… we’re moving… to America… so I… won’t have to… be around demons.” She practically screamed out the next part. “We’re leaving today! She won’t let me come say bye!”

“You can’t move! I said I was sorry!” Inuyasha bellowed into the phone. “How are we supposed to see each other if you’re all the way over there?”

“I’m not supposed to see you ever again!” And she began to sob again as her mother entered the room.

Her mother grabbed the phone from Kagome. “I told you not to call.” She then turned her attention to the phone. “Inuyasha let me speak to your father.”

Inuyasha quickly went to get his father, who was not to far, listening to the conversation from the other room. “Kagome is moving to America! I can’t even say bye! Her mom wants to talk to you. Can’t you talk her into at least letting me say bye?” He pleaded with his father.

His father picked up the phone and he felt pity for his son. She was the only good friend he had. “Taking her away isn’t going to solve your problem. At least let them say goodbye.”

Kaoru was irate. “No! You promised me she would be safe there! Apparently she isn’t. Why would I want to take another chance at her getting hurt again?” She hollered over the phone.

Inutaisho remained calm, his voice never wavering. “You can’t hide her forever you know. You know just as well as I do that her powers will eventually surpass yours and she will show her true form.”

“Not if she isn’t trained she won’t!” She yelled into the phone.

“No, that will only cause her to lose control once they get that strong. Covering them up does nothing for her except cause more problems.” He paused, knowing that he would not win the argument, but quickly resumed speaking. “I do, however, apologize for how you feel about her being around us. I wish you all the best and I hope to see you all again.”

“I wouldn’t count on it. Goodbye.” She said as she quickly hung up the phone. He was wrong, and she knew. Keeping her away just had to solve the problem. She quickly gathered her things and got into the car with Kagome and Souta in tow.

Inutaisho turned to Inuyasha, sorrow in his gaze. “I am sorry Inuyasha. They will be gone before we could even think of getting there.”

Inuyasha ran upstairs to his room, not even giving his father a response, trying to fight back the tears from losing his only friend. He was going to kill that wolf demon. This was all his fault.

Inuyasha didn’t come out of his room for days, not even for school, and Inutaisho wasn’t about to make him. He knew how much it hurt to lose someone close to you. He experienced that pain twice in his lifetime. He just hoped that he could get over it and get on with his life. One day he had even gone into Inuyasha’s room to comfort him, telling him about her and why her mother chose to leave. When Inuyasha still couldn’t understand, he told him that he would one day, and that she would probably be back. They hadn’t even sold their house.

Kagome hated her new school. All the kids made fun of her because of her accent and because she dressed like a boy. She would cry herself to sleep every night for a month over the loss of her savior, her friend. It took months for her to even begin to make new friends, and years to even begin to trust them. She never forgot about Inuyasha, and wanted nothing more than to return to Japan to see him. But she knew that was impossible.

10 years later…

Today was her first day in the eleventh grade, and although she still didn’t wear girlish colors or clothes and still wore her hair up underneath a cap, she was gorgeous. She had the perfect body underneath those baggy clothes with ivory skin that almost glowed in the sunlight. Her dark ebony hair sat well below her waistline and if she had blue eyes she would have looked like a goddess. Not only beautiful, but also the top of her class and president of the student body. But even after ten years, she still hated the school.

Kagome jumped in her metallic black RX-8 and took off for the school. You could definitely say that Kagome’s mom had made some smart financial moves. As soon as she walked through the entrance to the school, her best friends April, Becca, and Melody greeted her.

“Kagome! We missed you!” Melody squealed as all three hugged Kagome.

“Yeah! How was your trip to Australia? Did you fall for any gorgeous guys and lose anything this summer?” Becca chirped.

Kagome’s face turned red from embarrassment. Supposedly all three of them had lost their virginities already and were dead set on Kagome losing hers, something she was not interested in the moment. “No! You know I’m not like that Becca! Plus, it was a school thing, remember?”

“Ah… Kagome, you had to have had at least a little fun?” April whined, knowing Kagome all to well. She knew that Kagome would much prefer to stay cooped up inside reading a book, rather than going out and having some fun. The only reason she ever did anything else was because of them.

Kagome smiled. “Yeah, I learned how to surf.”

All the girls squealed again, and then a boy walking by hushing them all. He was eying Kagome. “Hey Kagome… girls.” He said as he walked past.

Becca broke the silence. “You know, he asked about you all summer long. I think Christian has a crush on you.”

April rolled her eyes. “Why are you telling her? No one is good enough for her. She has had the most gorgeous guy in the school chasing after her all her life, and won’t go out with him, won’t even turn her head in his direction. She’s a nun remember?”

Kagome put up her books in her locker and slammed it shut. She was getting tired of all this stupidity. If it would shut them up, she would do it. “Will it make ya’ll happy if I go ask him out?” She said shortly.

“Yes.” All three of her friends said in unison.

“Fine.” She said as she walked up to Christian at his locker. “Hey Christian. How was your summer?”

He turned around to face her and flashed her one of his famous smiles. “It couldn’t have compared to yours, and it would have been better with you by my side, but it was still good.” He watched her cheeks turn crimson at his complement and his grin widened. “You know, I don’t think there has been one time that I’ve talked to you, that you haven’t turned red. Why don’t you agree to go out with me tonight? Our first game is tonight and you’re always here anyway. We could meet after the game.”

Kagome glanced back at her friends and then back to Christian. Sure he was cute, but he just wasn’t her type, didn’t really do anything for her. ‘I swear to god I am only saying yes for you guys.’ She put on a fake smile and agreed. “It’s a date then.” She laughed as she watched his jaw fall open and walked off. “See ya tonight!”

He couldn’t believe she had actually said yes. Ten years he had been after her for a date. He smiled as he walked off; today was his lucky day.

When she returned to her friends they were all laughing. “I don’t believe you actually did it Kagome!” Becca laughed.

“Yeah, you’ve now lost your unattainable status.” April laughed with Becca.

Melody just shook her head. “Don’t listen to them Kagome. It was going to happen eventually. And who better than the best looking guy in the school?”

Just then the bell rang, and they parted ways, all going to class. This school year was definitely going to be interesting.
