~~~ Chapter 5~~~
Electricity shot through her body as his lips touched hers. She was in absolute heaven. She wrapped her arms gently around his torn and bruised body bringing her body as close to his as possible.
He couldn’t believe she had kissed him back, or how sweet she tasted. Gently his tongue traced over her lips, begging for entrance, only for them to quickly comply and deepen the kiss.
They seemed to be locked together for an eternity holding each other tight, until Kagome broke away to speak, a smile gracing her lips. "Inuyasha haven’t you learned I can never stay mad at you. I love you. I have for a long time, but I knew your heart belonged to Kikyo, I mean that’s what I thought. But I am glad I was wrong."
"Kagome... please don't ever leave me." he pleaded as he held her close to his body.
She flashed an assured smile. "Don't worry Inuyasha. I will always come back to you.”
She tried to back away but quickly noticed that he was too weak to stand on his own. “Now lets go take care of your wounds," she said realizing that she was his only form of support.
Inuyasha grunted, but was interrupted by an overzealous fox demon spreading the good news.
"Kagome, Kagome! Miroku's wind tunnel is gone!" Shippou squealed with joy running up to her. "You did it!" Shippou looked at Inuyasha in disbelief and then asked, "Is Inuyasha going to be okay Kagome?"
She frowned slightly at his question. "He will be fine once we get him back to the village to tend to his wounds. How are the others doing Shippou, and where are they?" She asked sweetly.
"They are all okay, no life-threatening wounds. Miroku got better as soon as the Kazaana disappeared in his hand. They are all headed back to the village. When they woke I told them to go there, to stay out of the way and get better! They wanted to help, but I told them NO!" Shippou said proudly, puffing out his chest.
"You did well Shippou, I am so proud of you. We should head to the village then so not to worry everyone there." Kagome paused for a second, "and is there any way you could carry Inuyasha? I really don't think he should carry himself," she asked sweetly.
"Sure! Let's go!" cried Shippou; glad to be of some help.
Inuyasha growled. “I thought I told you I don’t need help! I can get back by myself.”
Kagome glared at him, placing her hands on her hips. “I can always say IT.”
Inuyasha grumbled something about sneaky wenches and climbed on to Shippou’s balloon form. Kagome just smiled and got on behind him. In no time they were back to the village, greeted by everyone.
"Kagome, you did it! You've defeated Naraku!" hollered Miroku and Sango. “Shippou told us how you heard him through the well! That’s amazing! Oh, and how you brought down Naraku! That was just unbelievable!”
"Who would have thought ye, a meek little miko, could have the power to defeat such a monster?" said Kaede with a smirk.
Kagome laughed and then yawned. "You all should have stayed as far back as possible, not watch up close. If you all don't mind, I’ve had enough talking. I am going to tend to Inuyasha's wounds and then get some rest. I will see you in the morning." Kagome said politely to everyone.
"Aye Kagome, everyone should be getting some much needed rest, ye have had an eventful day." Kaede agreed.
Miroku and Sango assisted Kagome in getting Inuyasha inside the hut. After they left, she began to tend to his wounds. "Does that sting Inuyasha?" Kagome asked sweetly as she saw him flinch. She loved tending to his body, his perfectly sculpted body, and all these years of tending to it were starting to get to her. Her hands ran up his back, up his neck and landed on his ears, gently caressing them. 'Ooo and his ears are just so damned cut!’
"Feh... you should know I will be fine tomorrow." he said cockily, trying not to let the attention his ears were getting bother him. He turned to her and examined her. "You, on the other hand, look like death. Is there anything I can do for you? Would you like me to tend to the bruise engulfing your neck?"
The corners of her mouth dropped and she frowned. "My neck?" She reached up to feel her neck and winced in pain. She hadn't noticed. She was too worried about Inuyasha, too engulfed in their moment. "Don't worry," she said finishing up. "I'll be alright. Just go to sleep, I'll be here with you all night. I will never leave your side again."
With that Inuyasha grabbed Kagome and held her close. They stayed like that for what seemed like an eternity until they both drifted off to sleep, taking comfort in each other’s warmth.
The morning sunlight cascading through the window woke him from his peaceful slumber. He smiled as he felt her warm body next to his and opened his eyes to see her. He stared at her beautiful form in the morning sunlight, lying there asleep.
A frown touched his lips as he brushed away her hair from her face. He studied the deep dark bruising that tainted her beautiful porcelain skin around her neck. He gently caressed her cheek. "I should have been able to stop this from happening. I should have saved you," he sighed with guilt.
Kagome yawned. "It is not your fault Inuyasha. There was nothing you could do to stop me from facing Naraku."
"You’re awake already?" Inuyasha asked surprised.
She smiled. "I managed to get some sleep at home before the fight with Naraku. I have been awake for a while, waiting for you to wake up." She paused as slight blush tinged her cheeks, ‘and admired your body as your muscles rippled in your sleep, your long silver hair as it reflected the morning sun flowing across the pillow, those ears. I was just waiting to be able to look into those amber eyes.’ She smiled, “Are you feeling any better? Is there anything you need?”
Inuyasha's defenses immediately went up. “Keh, I told you I'm fine!” Inuyasha snapped as he tried to get up.
Kagome frowned a little and sighed, same old Inuyasha. “I told you that you should rest! Not to be stubborn and get up just so you can hurt yourself more. Now stay down! Regardless to what you think of your superhuman strength, that wound on your back is deep. He barely missed your spinal cord and it’s pretty deep on the left. It will take even you a few days to recover. So rest please!” she demanded sweetly.
Inuyasha’s only response was a growl, which he immediately regretted when he saw the sad look it created in her eyes.
She sighed. “You need a new bandage on your back, you re-opened your wounds.”
He completely ignored what she said. To hell with his back, the bruising on her neck looked like it would severely hurt him, let alone her. He couldn’t imagine how much it hurt, and yet she didn’t say a word. "You need something on your neck. Give me something from your bag that I should put on those bruises on your neck." He demanded. If she wasn’t going to take care of them, he was.
"The bruises around my neck are that bad?" She questioned, and nearly cried out when she tried to move her neck. She gasped when she saw her reflection in the mirror across the room. "Wow, I don't believe how bad this looks!"
"You shouldn’t have that bruise.” Inuyasha snapped holding his hand out.
Kagome smiled. She could tell he was worried, even though he was acting like he wasn’t. “It’s nothing, I’ll be fine. It’s you who needs all the medical treatment here.”
“Keh! I told you, I’ll be fine.” He said, trying to get up again.
"Inuyasha! Please don't get up,” she begged. She reached in her bag and pulled out a container of salve. "Here. Could you please rub this on my neck? It will help the bruising go down quicker."
Inuyasha nodded his head in agreement and gently started to apply the salve, tying her hair back in the process. "Does it hurt you much?" He asked, concerned with what he was seeing. There were at least fifteen different shades of red, blue, and purple that covered her neck, along with being extremely swollen.
"It only hurts when I move!" laughed Kagome. "Ow," she frowned, "and laugh." She slowly turned her gaze to Inuyasha, staring deep into the amber haze swirling in his eyes. So bewitching, so inviting, so intently focused on her.
Her heart began to pound and her thoughts were brought to the moment after the battle when he confessed his feelings. "Did you mean what you said after the fight?” she asked meekly, unsure if she wanted to hear the answer.
Inuyasha was totally enveloped by her scent, the soft touch of her skin, her inviting lips, those caring deep brown eyes. He loved everything about her. It was too bad he couldn’t say it out loud.
As he gazed in her eyes, he slowly wrapped his arms around her slender waist to pull her closer to him. He lingered closely over her lips, taking in her scent. He couldn’t contain himself any longer and gently kissed her soft luscious lips. He gently traced her lips with his tongue, begging to gain entrance to her mouth, kissing her deeply as she accepted and fell into him.
In a bold move he slid his hand down her body, slowly sliding his hand up her leg to her skirt. He could feel her pulse quicken and her flesh heat under his touch. He had dreamed of having her this close for so long. He could smell her arousal and it was driving him insane.
He only paused for a moment, long enough for Kagome to invite him to go further by sliding his hand further. He traced the outline of her panties with his finger and she let out a slight moan from the stimulation.
She felt a blush cover her whole body as his touch sent shivers down her spine. She had yearned for this moment for almost three years now. As Inuyasha lowered her to the floor, kissing her passionately there was a knock on the door. "Who could that be?" she fussed as she got up, straightening out her clothes, to answer the door.
Inuyasha grabbed her arm. "Don't answer it." he smirked. "We can ignore it. I want to be alone with you."
She smiled back, freeing her arm. "Sure we could ignore it, worry the people behind the door, cause them to burst in on us, or I can answer it and get rid of them. That way we can have some peace without having to worry about someone barging in." With that she opened the door.
"Hey Kagome! Did you sleep well?" welcomed Shippou as she opened the door. "I brought you and Inuyasha something to eat!" he beamed as he said it. "Kaede made Ramen for everyone!" He looked over at Inuyasha. "Hey, what do you got in your pocket Inuyasha?" he asked curiously, noticing the huge bulge in Inuyasha's pants.
Both Inuyasha and Kagome turned ten shades red and Inuyasha quickly spun around. That was all he needed to say for her to hurry him back out the door. "Thank you so much for the food Shippou. But Inuyasha and I still need our rest. It still hurts the both of us to move." She took the food, and Inuyasha slowly began to get up again, this time to greet Shippou, but mostly his arrogance.
"Feh, I am fine." Inuyasha said as he made his way to the door.
Kagome spun around, "Inuyasha! Have I believed you yet? You are not fine so sit down!” Her hands clasped over her mouth as he crashed to the floor, reopening all sorts of wounds all over his body, blood seeping through his bandages.
Inuyasha hit the floor hard and screamed as he felt every wound on his body split open again. He mumbled under his breath, "stupid wench."
Kagome ran to his side, along with Shippou. Luckily she didn't hear what came out of his mouth. "I am so sorry!" she cried. "I didn't mean to say it, I just wanted you to rest!"
"Are you gonna be okay Inuyasha?" Shippou asked meekly.
Inuyasha lay there for a minute, until only the throbbing in his back remained. He slowly sat up and said, wincing, "Feh, it was nothing."
If she could have she would have shook her head at his arrogance, but she couldn’t so she just helped Inuyasha back to bed and handed him his ramen. "Shippou, thanks for the food. We will come out for whatever else we need. I need to take care of him. You see how stubborn he is being."
"Okay Kagome, I hope you both do better soon!" and with that Shippou left.
After they finished eating Kagome turned to Inuyasha, who was still breathing heavily from the sit. She shook her head. "I am so sorry." She sat beside him on the bed.
"It's okay, really." He quietly replied without looking up at her.
"Are you sure you’re not mad?" She questioned because he had yet to look up at her.
He replied quickly without looking up. “It was no big deal.”
“Well, at least let me make it up to you.” Kagome smirked as she placed both of her hands on Inuyasha's neck. When he finally looked up at her and their eyes met she could have sworn she felt his pulse quicken. She slowly moved her hands down his neck, discretely laying them over the charmed necklace. "There," she said grasping a hold of the necklace and tossing it over Inuyasha's head and across the room. "Now I can tell you to sit," she paused and smiled as Inuyasha flinched, "without having to worry about hurting you."
Inuyasha smiled devilishly and grabbed her and pulled her close and tight. "How do you know that I won't turn against you, slice you into tiny bits, and eat you because I am still hungry?"
"Oh your hungry all right." She fell into him until her lips barely brushed his and smiled. "You won't turn because I have something you want," she said as she gazed into those amber eyes.
This sent his senses into overload. Her scent and warmth were filling his body with a need, a longing for her. He gently pressed his lips to hers, lowering their bodies to the bed.
When his back hit the bed, the moment quickly ended. Knives danced up and down his back and he shot up in pain and screamed, "Damn it all to hell!"
"Are you okay?" Kagome asked tentatively, worried.
"I'll be fine in a minute." he replied, still cringing from the pain.
"It's not fair!" she cried out. "Naraku is dead! No one should have to suffer because of the things Naraku did in the past! People's lives should go back to normal now that he’s dead! Nobody should suffer because of him...especially you." She finally calmed down, looked at Inuyasha's shocked face and added in a much softer tone, "I just wish Naraku's influences were undone, happiness could prosper, and everything go back to the way it was supposed to be. I don’t care what it would cost me to see everyone happy."
As she finished saying this her chest began to warm, and she smiled slightly at the feeling.
Inuyasha waited for her to calm down a little, but when she smiled there was only one thing he could think of. "I love you," he whispered as he began to kiss her soft rose-colored lips.
"I love you too," she managed to get out as she accepted his embrace and kiss. As they kissed the warm feeling in her chest began to spread all over her body, then it began to tingle.
Inuyasha broke the embrace when he finally noticed she was beginning to glow. "Kagome what is going on? You’re glowing!"
"What do you mean?" she asked, and then observed her arm. "I am glowing! How! Why?"
Inuyasha sat there with a shocked look on his face as he was trying to think, trying to process exactly what was happening. 'Why is this happening? What is happening? Wait... the jewel... I forgot all about it in the rush!' "Kagome, where is the jewel?"
Kagome’s eyes widened as she realized she didn’t know. "You know, come to think of it I don't know. The last time I saw it was when I was holding it while Naraku was attacking me. But I blacked out, and after that... I never saw it, never even thought about it. Isn’t that funny? We spend all our time trying to get it from Naraku and then everyone forgets all about it." As she spoke the glow intensified and became a bright pink. "What the..." and just then the jewel began to show within her chest.
Slowly it rose out and flashed a blinding pink light and a gust of wind. The jewel dropped to the floor, clear as glass.
"How... how could this happen?" Kagome asked in shaking her head in disbelief.
Inuyasha couldn't take his eyes off of Kagome, speechless. Her bruises around her neck were disappearing right before his eyes. "Your neck!" was all he managed to get out.
Kagome ran to the mirror to see the bruise was gone. "My neck... it is all better!" she squealed. She ran over to Inuyasha and ripped the bloody bandages off of his back, just in time to see the scar fading. "Yours are gone too!" She paused for a minute. "But how did it happen, how did it get inside me? I didn’t purify it, and I thought the wish had to be pure."
"I don't know, but somehow you absorbed the jewel back into your body during the fight. I mean you were born with it inside you... so why wouldn't it be able to go back? And you did wish with it inside you obviously. Maybe your intentions only have to be pure, but it must have worked,” he said examining the now clear jewel.
"Oh, I'm so sorry Inuyasha!" she frowned.
Inuyasha arched his brow with puzzlement and asked, "For what?"
"I know you wanted to use the jewel. Wasn’t that why you searched for it so hard? I swear if I had known, I would have kept my mouth shut." she whimpered, not able to look directly at him.
He grabbed her by the chin to make her look at him, "You have nothing to be sorry for. I couldn't have made a better wish. Everyone's lives will return to normal and everyone will be happy."
"Even you?" she asked, pouting.
He smiled devilishly as he answered her. "I could be, if you could, perhaps do something for me," letting go of her chin.
"Whatever could you want?" she said slyly, running her hands across his stomach.
"Be my mate and never leave me,” he blurted out, but even that didn’t make it easy.
