One soul lost, Two souls united

Inuyasha awoke to the sound of birds chirping and the dawn’s first rays assaulting his face. Opening his eyes he could see some of the villagers out preparing for the day of working in the fields.

“Well good morning Inuyasha.” Shrugen said as he exited Kaedes hut. “I didn’t know you liked to get up at dawn.”

*grunt* “I don’t. I hardly got any sleep last night. I couldn’t stop thinking about what you told me.”

*chuckle* “My apologies then. I didn’t know you would lose sleep over out little chat. As for me, I enjoy getting up a dawn. It always gives me a chance to stretch my wings without being bothered.”

Shrugen removed his cloak revealing a well toned body. Like Inuyasha he looked to be a pushover for any demon but he new from experience that was not true. He looked a little over 6 feet, had smooth skin, was fairly muscled and carried a few scars from battle. He wore what appeared to be a simple white tunic with the sleeves cut off at the shoulders and had a dark blue shash around his waist. (That’s funny. I thought he said he had wings.) Inuyasha thought.


Taking of his shirt he said, “Inuyasha I’m going to go get some air and collect my belongings. I’ll be back in a couple of hours and perhaps when I get back, I can teach you a little of what I know about fighting.”

With a sudden burst of flames coming from his back the fire died revealing a pair of wings. The top of the wings had a rusty red color which streaked down about one third of the way with the rest of it being white. With a wave goodbye he opened his wings and with one mighty flap, took off.

Jumping down from the tree branch Inuyasha circling around the village staying just outside the forests edge pondering on what he should do. (He said that he could help me control my inner demon. Is that even possible? Can he even control his? Of course he can, how else could he know how? He also said that I have priestess blood in me and that he can teach me how to us it. If that’s so how will it affect me? Will I turn human? Will my demon blood reject the power? Should I tell Sango? Damn this is so confusing. I wonder if Kaede has made breakfast yet.)

Running back to Kaedes he was greeted with the smell of cooked fish and saw Sango waiting outside for him. “Good morning Inuyasha.” She said.

“Morning. Sango after breakfast can we go on a walk? I need to tell you something very important.”

“Of course.” She said a little worried at the tone Inuyasha was using.

They both entered the hut and sat down next to each other which earned a raised eyebrow from Miroku and began eating breakfast. Shippo broke the silence by asking what they all thought about Shrugen and why he was here.

“Well his story seems a little farfetched. I mean Inuyasha met him when he was only a child and he looked the same as when they first met.” Miroku said

“True but don’t forget that demons have a long life span therefore they age slower that us. I mean look at Sessomaru, when Inuyasha last saw him he looked the same as he did 50 years ago.” Said Sango

“Well what do you think Inuyasha? Is he truly what he says he is?”

“I think he is telling the truth. I remember his from when I was young and he did tell my mother that if she needed anything to just call on him.” Inuyasha said

They ate the rest of their meal in silence each wondering what will happen now that they had a new party member. After they finished eating Miroku said that he was going to the nearest temple to pray and Shippo went to help Kaede with her gardening leaving Inuyasha and Sango alone. Once everyone left Inuyasha began to explain what he and Shrugen talked about last night. He explained to her about him teaching Inuyasha how to control his inner demon and told him of his mothers hidden past and of his priestess powers. When he finished explaining to her she looked to be very worried.

“Inuyasha what will happen if you decide to take him up on his offer?” she said

“I don’t know. I guess a lot of training and on the road that might be difficult. It also might mean less time together and I don’t know if I’m willing to go through with that.
I guess I’ll just have to ask him what would happen when he gets back.”

They both talked for awhile about when would be a good time to tell the pack they were together, how Shrugens training might help against battling Naraku and what would happen after they defeated him. They became so absorbed in their conversation that they didn’t notice Shrugen landing a few feet away from them.

“Good afternoon.”

Jumping out of their skin they looked up to see who spoke to them. They looked to see Shrugen landing a few feet away from them holding a large leather bag and multiple swords.

“Hi Shrugen, were just talking about the offer you made Inuyasha.” Said Sango

“I’m guessing you have questions?”

“Yeah like what how can we train if we’re searching for jewel shards? And what would happen if I unlocked my priestess powers?”

“Well to answer your first question, some of my lessons can be taught on the road and for those that cant we would practice whenever we would stop for rest. As for your second question, if you unlocked your priestess powers nothing really significant would happen. Your aura would change giving off your demonic as well as priestess auras. You would be able to add your new powers to your attacks like the windscar and even your backlash wave. Although when you use your powers to much it tends to drain your strength. But after some training you will be able to use your powers directly not needing something to channel them through.”

After giving what he said some thought, Inuyasha finally agreed to let Shrugen train him.

“Excellent. First off I want to see what you know of swordplay. Meet me under the god tree in half an hour.”

True to his word, Inuyasha saw Shrugen waiting for him leaning against the god tree.
As Inuyasha approached him he noticed that he was wearing battle armor. It looked to be polished sliver but it seemed different somehow. He had on a breastplate and shin guards that went up to his knees.

“What’s the armor for?”

“Just in case you get a little overenthusiastic in our match.”

Shrugen led Inuyasha to a clearing in the forest where they would be battling. Shrugen explained that there would be now powers or special abilities involved. After agreeing to this Inuyasha drew Tetsusaiga and Shrugen drew his Tempest. Where as Inuyashas sword was a falchion, Shrugens sword was a five-and-a-half foot katana.

“You know that thing won’t stand a chance against my Tetsusaiga. It’ll snap it in half.”

“Well see.”

Inuyasha attacked swinging Tetsusaiga over his head. Shrugen easily dodged the attack and brought his sword down lightly cutting Inuyashas wrist.

“You just lost your hand.”

Inuyasha keh-ed and attacked again, his sword coming from the right. Shrugen blocked with his sword little sparks of energy firing off. They both fought like this for a while Inuyasha carelessly swinging his sword and Shrugen ether blocking of dodging his attacks. Shrugen noticed that Inuyashas attacks were becoming slower and decided to take the offensive. After blocking Inuyasha last attack, Shrugen pushed him away. Surprised Inuyasha and was momentarily off balance and taking advantage of this, he swept his left foot out and knocked Inuyashas feet out from under him and then brought his sword to Inuyashas neck.

“You’re dead.” He said smirking slightly.

“You cheated. You said it was a blade only fight.”

“I said that there was to be no powers or special abilities. I didn’t say you couldn’t use your feet.”

Shrugen offered his hand to help him up. Growling Inuyasha took it and was pulled back up to his feet.

“You did fairly well under the circumstances, although I fear I had a slight advantage the whole time. Your sword is not really good for one-on-one duels. To thick and clumsy to use. Well have to get you another sword if you want to be able to win in a duel.”

Just as Inuyasha was about to as what he meant by another sword, He caught whiff of Kagomes sent. (Kagomes back? She can’t be she’s supposed to come back tomorrow.)
As if confirming his thoughts Shippo came running up to the two yelling “Kagomes back, Kagomes back!”

Sheathing their swords Inuyasha and Shrugen walked over to bone eaters well, Shrugen asking questions about the girl from the future and what the future was like. Inuyasha explained the best he could, about the tall towers they call ‘sky-scrapers’ and the place where Kagome goes for her tests a ‘High skool.’ As the got near the forests clearing Shrugen stopped Inuyasha and asked him what his plans with Sango are.

“Well my plan was to make her my mate tonight but since Kagome is here I don’t know if that possible.”

“Don’t worry I will keep the pack occupied while you claim Sango. Just be sure you go out a distance before you begin.”

Seeing Inuyasha blush he chuckled and began moving on.

“Oh one more thing.” Shrugen said Inuyasha turned around waiting for him to continue.

“While I was flying back I noticed soul collectors flying around about half a mile away. They usually mean that Kikyo is around correct?” He received a sorrowful nod

“As I thought. Inuyasha you know as well as I that the real Kikyo is dead. What’s here is only a fake living of souls like a parasite. She needs to be put to rest. Before you mate with Sango you must take care of her first.”

“I… I can’t. I know it’s not her but I just can’t bring myself to do it.”

“Then I will.” Inuyasha gave him a shocked look.

“It must be done. If not she would try to kill Sango and not stop until she succeeded. Hate me if you must but it must be done, for Sango, you’re future children, your friends and all the souls that are denied eternal rest because of her.”

With a regretful nod, Inuyahsa went on there way to meet Kagome and Shrugen flew off In search of Kikyo. The first thing Inuyasha noticed as he walked out of the forest is the sun beginning to set. (Wow we must’ve been fighting for hours.) He thought. Heading over to join Kagome he found the rest if the pack already there talking to her no doubt do to Shippo.

“Hey Inuyasha! Long time no see! Have you been a good boy while I’ve been gone?”

Inuyasha only grumbled in response and noticed that Sango glaring daggers at the back of Kagomes head making him smile on the inside. (My thoughts exactly Sango.)

“Kagome it’s good to see you again. How did those ‘tests’ go?” Miroku asked

“They went fine thanks to Inuyahsa leaving me alone to study.”

“Then I assume that well be moving out tomorrow?”

“Yeah once we get some rest well leave tomorrow.”

“Inuyasha! Aren’t you going to tell Kagome of our new friend?” Shippo asked

“New friend?”

Inuyasha began to explain everything that happened after she left for her own time minus the part of Inuyashas and Sangos romance of course.

[Elsewhere]

Shrugen had been flying around for a while searching for any signs of Kikyo and her soul collectors. Finally finding them deep in the forest he came in for a landing a few yards away so he wouldn’t raise any unneeded suspicion. Folding his wings he made his way towards the eerie light the souls were giving off. Once he got there he was met with the sight of Kikyo with her bow drawn aiming at him.

“Who are you? Why have you come here?” Kikyo said

“My name is Shrugen. I’m a friend of Inuyashas. As for why I am here, I’m here to deal with you.”

“Deal with me? You mean kill me. What, Inuyahsa wasn’t man enough to do it on his own?”

“On the contrary. He is man enough to admit that he cannot kill you and I have come to do it for him.”

“He is mine and I will not die until I am sure that he will follow me into hell.”

“He is no longer yours Kikyo. You lost him when you died. You are merely a hollow husk, a lost soul that feeds off of other souls to survive, and I have come to make sure that you are finally put to rest.”

Saying this Shrugen charged Kikyo. She fired her sacred arrow but it didn’t slow him down he merely deflected it with his tempest. Before she could ready another arrow Shrugen was upon her and drove his sword through her up to its hilt.

“Know this Kikyo, that Inuyahsa has found a mate that loves him. He has moved on as you soon will. Your time in this world is over. Rest in peace.” He whispered in her ear.
Shrugen then pulled out his blade, souls streaming out her body as she fell to the ground.

“Inuyasha.” Were her last words as she died her body becoming dust.

Shrugen sheathed his sword and with a look of pity upon his face, took off to return and tell Inuyasha the deed is done.

“Kagome? Are you alright? You look a little pale.” Inuyahsa said

Kagome was leaning on the wall in Kaedes hut looking pale and like she was about to be sick. Then in a flask she looked back to normal.

“That was weird. For a second there I felt that someone was going to tear out my heart but now I feel better that ever!”

Inuyasha was about to ask her what she meant but he caught the sent of Shrugen coming, no doubt to tell him he was successful in his mission. Inuyasha went outside to meet him.
As Shrugen landed he noticed the worried look on Inuyashas face as he came out to meet him. Inuyasha could tell it was done by the look on his face. He was sad but also relieved to know that she would not be able to harm Sango. Inuyasha introduced Kagome to Shrugen and got her caught up on what has happened so far leaving out the stuff that only he and Shrugen talked about. By the time they had finished it was already late so they all settled down for the night. Hours later Sango awoke to someone touching her. Thinking it was Miroku she slapped whoever was touching her. Once she opened her eyes she saw Inuyasha with a bright red handprint on his cheek. Before Sango could utter a word of an apology he shushed her and led her out deep into the forest.

“Inuyasha what is it?” Sango asked to a very nervous Inuyasha

“Sango I have waited to long to do this. If you are willing…will you let me make you my mate?”

Sangos eyes grew wide and she ran and hugged him tightly whispering a yes into his chest. Inuyasha lifted Sangos chin up with his finger and gave her a kiss. She kissed back with more passion, running her tongue across his bottom lip begging for entrance into his mouth. He let her in and they both fought for dominance but they both broke off needing to breathe.

Inuyasha began to remove her kimono, amazed at how smooth her skin was. Starting from the neck he lightly kissed his way down to her collar stopping only to make her lie down so he could have a better angle. He then proceeded to finish undressing her and he could see her body in all her glory and said “Kami your beautiful Sango.” She blushed at this partly because of the compliment and to feeling uncomfortable revealing herself to him fully. As if reading her thoughts Inuyasha bent over her and gave her a kiss. “There’s no need to be shy Sango. I love you and that’s all that matters.” smiling slightly she nodded her head and he continued to assault her body with kisses. As he came upon her breasts he grabbed the left one and began to squeeze it and started flick his tongue against the others pert nipple earning a lusty moan from his lover. He then latched on and started to suckle it while still massaging the other breast and noticed her breathing faster and beginning to writhe in pleasure and could smell her arousal making him hard. After giving the other breast equal treatment they looked into each others eyes seeing the lust and love for each other. Sango began to remove Inuyashas clothes not an easy feat because of him still kissing her but once she had gotten his clothes off it was her turn to marvel at his body.
