Chapter Five
Kagome watched Sango stab at her meat like it was Naraku reborn. She actually felt sorry for the piece of cow as the fork slammed into it once more. For a minute she thought of asking her what was wrong but thought better of it. More than likely it was the problem she was having. They were both waiting for two men that would probably never return to them. Of course her feelings weren't as deep as Sango's, not yet anyways. But Kagome knew she had some feelings for the small man.
Which was one of the problems. She wanted Hiei to come back and to explore the feelings that she had. Yet there was also the pull she felt towards Yusuke. He'd been spending a lot of time over here lately and it was getting worse. She considered him as a friend now, spending time with him was fun. In a lot of ways he reminded her of Inuyasha. Then there was times she saw things that was totally Yusuke. And to be honest it was those things that had begun to make him special to her.
She was also starting to have erotic dreams, maybe she was horny. The thought made her laugh to herself. Most of the dreams were about Hiei, of their night together. A few times Yusuke had managed to get in there. Probably due to the fact that she did care about him and there was the mark. Hiei was just, well he was Hiei, enough said. Just the very thought of him seemed to get her excited.
She silently cursed her luck with men. Inuyasha had been lost to her before she even met him so in the end she'd been left alone. Now she seemed to like two men in different ways but it wasn't returned once again. Looked like Hiei had just wanted a quick fuck and Yusuke only treated her like a friend. Not to mention the fact that he had a steady girlfriend.
Kagome looked over to see the bat youkai sitting on the couch his gaze on Sango. She was suprised her friend didn't have holes in her back. His stare was intense as his eyes lingered on her body. It was starting to get on her nerves. Deciding to give her friend some peace she picked up a roll and tossed it at him. It hit him in the cheek, his gaze turned to her. A grin plastered itself on her face when his eyes turned back on Sango. Seemed he had it bad.
Sango saw Kagome throw the roll and almost groaned in embarrassment. It was more than obvious that the man was staring at her. She could feel his eyes burning holes in her back. Ever since he had kissed her a few days ago, he'd been doing it. He had apologized for it but he didn't look sorry. His desire was there for anyone to see, he wasn't hiding it.
It made her feel bad, she didn't know how to handle the situation. She cared about him and thought of him as a friend. If she hadn't already been in love with Kurama she could have seen herself going for him. The fact remained that she had met the fox first and he owned that special part of her heart. The pull of the mark was bothering her, she couldn't imagine how he felt.
She wasn't sure if she should give up on Kurama and find what happiness she could or wait for him. Her mind said take what she could, her heart said to never let go. Right now her heart was still winning by a landslide. She did feel bad for Kuronue though, sometimes he looked like he was in pain.
Kuronue finally turned his eyes from the woman so he could take a walk outside. He was in need of some fresh air to cool down his raging hormones. He cursed the fox for leaving and himself for wanting to give into temptation. At night he thought of nothing but her. The pull was becoming unbearable for him, almost too much to ignore.
What pissed him off was that she longed for the fox and he had yet to return. He hated seeing that look in her eyes. Kurama didn't deserve her as far as he was concerned. What man would have left her without giving her any reassurances? Kurama had left her without even saying goodbye, leaving her feeling used and discarded.
"You look worse than I feel." Yusuke came walking up to him.
"I thought you went home for awhile, think it wise to come back? Surely your girlfriend will suspect something if you leave her so soon."
"Yeah about that. She kind of knows now." He had a guilty look on his face as he told Kuronue about his mishap. The man started laughing making him angry. "It's not funny, I probably lost Keiko for good."
"Yes it is. I warned you about spending time around her but you blew my warning off. I won't say I told you so."
"You just did. Is that dinner I smell?" Yusuke didn't wait for an answer he walked inside leaving Kuronue alone.
He stayed outside long after night had fallen and the moon was high in the night sky. Seemed Yusuke was staying the night once again. The boy was playing with fire, he was going to get burned soon. Not like he had room to talk, he wanted more than anything to feel the heat.
Giving up he walked inside to head to bed, some sleep would do him good. His feet carried him along the hallway. He stopped outside Sango's doorway to listen inside. The sound of her softly crying could be heard from the other side.
His hand went for the knob and turned, it opened for him. She was laying with her back turned to him but her back stiffened as he came in. He walked over to the bed. Without asking permission he took his boots off and layed down behind her.
