The Better Man

Chapter Five


Kagome walked along with Keiko, Yusuke and Kuwabara ran off trying to find the two guys from earlier. So the girls were heading back to the car to wait on them. Most of the cars were gone already from their section.

Kagome sat on the hood of the car and Keiko joined her. "How long will they be?"

"Depends. If they are going to talk or if the guys are going to join us. Hopefully not too long." Keiko started to worry, there was a group of men not far away. It was apparent that they were drunk as they hung around the truck. She stiffened when they began looking their way. "Maybe we should go and find them."

"Why?" Kagome saw the men but wasn't going to let them bother her. After facing a very pissed off Naraku and he had a few tenacles imbedded in your body; a few drunk human males tended to go unnoticed. After coming home and tending to the problem of the jewel, she'd taken a few self defense classes. She couldn't exactly run around her time with a bow on her back. So being able to defend herself somewhat from the few youkai in her time seemed important. Not like she had Inuyasha to save her anymore.

"Um, Kagome." Keiko watched as the men started to come over. There was nine in total, all laughing at something they couldn't hear. "I think we should leave."

Kagome looked up and saw them, then she looked around the lot. There was an elderly couple walking towards their car on the other side. Well looked like they were on their own, "I don't think we'd make it."

"Lets get in the car." Keiko saw that the girl wasn't going to move. Why wasn't she moving, they should wait where it was safe until the guys got here. She went around the car to shake some sense into the girl. "Kagome."

The men were near them now and both girls looked at them. They surrounded the girls, Keiko's hand was on Kagome's arm.

"You girls all alone?"

"Want some company?"

"Hey can I borrow your friend?"

Kagome turned to the last man, "No, you'll get her dirty." She waited, maybe they would turn out to be harmless. No need to hurt them for no reason.

"Hey, I think she just insulted you."

One man stepped forward suddenly and grabbed Keiko's arm pulling her away from Kagome. The brunette brought her hand around smacking the guy across the face. "Get off me."

They went for both girls, now they were getting hurt. Kagome's hand went around the antenna breaking it in two, she'd apologize later for it. She grabbed the arm going for her, her foot connected with the man's jaw knocking him back. Her hand swung around, the metal slapped the nearest man across the face. He fell down holding his face, screaming.

"Bitch." The man grabbed her free hand twisting it, she brought the metal down across his face before her foot caught him in the chest. As he went down to his knees, she spun around and kicked him across the head.

Keiko heard the others shouting and they let go of her but two. She brought her knee up slamming it into one's crotch. The other grabbed her hair, she brought her elbow back hitting him in the ribs. She spun around and slapped him across the face. That was five down.

The other four had their attention on the raven haired girl. Kagome watched as they tried to surround her, did they think they scared her? She smiled as the one in front charged. He actually tried to punch her in the face, she moved out the way and bent her knees. Her hand came up to grab his wrist, she brought her free hand up. She heard the snap as his arm broke at the elbow. Another charged her, her foot came up to connect with his jaw. His head snapped back, he landed with a thud on the ground.

The two left decided to pull out knives, neither over four inches but they still wielded them. Keiko saw it and didn't know what to do. She turned around and saw Yusuke and the others coming around the corner. So she yelled for him, "Yusuke."

Kagome heard her yell as the men came at her, she caught one of them by the arm. She used all her strength to swing him around. He slammed into the other man, their heads slammed together. The free man fell back holding a busted nose. Kagome twisted the man's arm causing him to drop the knife, she forced him to the ground. Her foot planted on his back, he cried out in pain. "I suggest you leave now. Seems our company has arrived, I don't think they will be as gentle as us females." She released his arm, the man staggered to his feet.

He took a good look around, all his friends were on the ground getting up. Then he saw the four men heading over. He spat blood on the ground and wiped his busted lip. "Bitch, this aint over."

"Anytime you feel like playing."

Keiko ran over to Kagome, "Thank the gods, you are okay."

"I'm fine."

"What the fuck?" Yusuke got to the car, his eyes watched as nine men all groaning and some bloody tried to get up.

"Fucking bitch hit me with something..." One man had blood running down his hand as he cupped his face.

"Hn. Why did you bother calling for help. Seems you two had it under control." Hiei smirked. He was standing on top the car. He almost felt sorry for the drunk fools as they stumbled back to the vehicle.

"Woah, what happened? Are you two okay, they didn't hurt you did they?" Kuwabara looked, both girls appeared to be fine.

"Is that my antenna?" Keiko noticed the small metal in the girl's hand.

"Oops, sorry. It came in handy." Kagome blushed, they were staring at her. "I'll get it replaced for you."

"Just tape a hanger on there, it'll work." Yusuke's laughter stopped when Keiko hit him in the stomach. "Dammit, Keiko."

"It's not funny Yusuke. We were just attacked."

"Riiiggghht, are you sure you two didn't attack them. They were the ones limping away." Yusuke yelled at her. "We all know how you like smacking people."

"Well, we know how she likes to smack you." Kurama corrected him.

"Whatever, lets get out of here before the authorities arrive." Yusuke went and climbed in the back seat. "Someone has to sit up front with them. I'm not being crammed in the back."

"There's only two seats up front." Keiko pointed out, "Kagome will have to sit on someone's lap."

"What?" Her brow lifted, she couldn't be serious. "You can't be serious."

"Yes, sorry. I'm sure one of them will let you." Keiko smiled at her.

"OH hell no. First, I refuse to sit in your boyfriend's lap. Two, I'd smash the one standing on the roof and there is no way I'm sitting on his lap." She pointed to Kurama. She wasn't stupid, she knew what she saw in his eyes.

"Then sit on Kuwabara's lap, he'll behave." Yusuke suggested. "He doesn't know what to do with a girl, so you're safe."

"Go to hell Yurameshi."

"Fine." Kagome could live with that, she watched Yusuke get out and climb in the passenger seat. She waited for Kuwabara to climb in. He took the middle so Kurama held the door open for her as she climbed in. "Stop staring at my ass." She heard a chuckle from the smaller guy.

She planted herself in his lap, she realized she still had the piece of metal in her hand. She tossed it in Yusuke's lap. "Here."

"I don't want that, damn thing has blood on it."

"Don't be such a wuss." She settled herself so she was more comfortable, which meant she had to sit back some. Her hands went to the backs of the two front seats. She was trying not to have her ass planted too close to his groin. It was difficult, he had some long legs. It wasn't leaving any room for hers, as Keiko started driving her legs began to cramp. "Screw this." She reached over and took her sneakers off and placed them at Hiei's feet.

She slid back and stretched her legs out placing them up between Keiko and Yusuke. "Hope you don't mind. I'm not sitting cramped like that for fourty minutes."

Hiei snorted and Kurama laughed when they smelt the boy's arousal as the girl planted her ass almost on his groin. "Try to contain yourself fool."

"Bite my ankles shorty." Kuwabara tried not to think about it. His body had instantly reacted when he felt her brush against his member. He loved Yukina, he couldn't help it if his thing had a mind of it's own. Unlike Kurama he wasn't out to seduce the girl. Though he was sure Kurama would most likely suceed, the fox was a sly one.

Kagome wasn't sure what they were bickering about so chose to ignore them, instead she called up to Keiko. "Think you could drop me off first? I know it's a little out of the way."

"It's no problem."

"Thanks." Kagome leaned back and wished she hadn't. It caused her to slide back some, that couldn't be him she felt. Her eyes widened in shock, her mouth dropped opened and she began to blush. 'Gods, he is hard. That all can't be him. He'd have to be twice the size of Inuyasha had been.' She scooted up some, trying to escape it.

Hiei noticed it and began to laugh, Kurama merely chuckled. Kagome kept her back straight and herself up, it was almost too embarrassing for words. She sighed when she saw the shrine steps, she reached down and grabbed her shoes.

Kurama got out and extended his hand, she ignored it and brushed past him. His nose twitched, no it had to be wrong.

"Thanks for inviting me Keiko." Kagome was ready to haul ass into the house. "I had fun, I'll see you in class."

"Okay, thanks for coming." Keiko waved to her.

Kurama watched her run up the steps and sniffed again. Yeah, the scent was there. Only small traces but there none the less. He wasn't sure what to make of it, surely the girl hadn't gotten aroused.
