Sight Of The Blind

Chapter Four

Yomi didn't wait to be allowed entrance he stormed into the small building. One youkai tried to stop him, he fell to the ground missing his head. The others ran away, making way for the two men. He could sense the girl in the next room, he shoved the door open walking inside.

Manzo had been expecting this, everything was happening according to plan. He faked a smile when the ruler of the Makai stepped into the room. "Ah, Yomi what brings you here?"

"You know why I have come. Did you believe you could pull something like this without me finding out?" Yomi scanned the room, there were several other youkai inside. Nothing to worry about. "Hand her over."

"I'm afraid I can't do that. You see a few of my partners weren't very happy when I went before them and took the girl. We couldn't decide who got her. Our solution was the tournament. Anyone that wants her, has to take their turn in the ring. The enchantment has been set I'm afraid. The only way to get the girl is to win."

"Explain." Yomi didn't like where this was going.

He pulled out a scroll, their was eight lines for names, seven already filled. "These are the people that will be competing for the girl, I have turned many away I assure you. Seems everyone wants a piece. She is locked behind the containment spell, she won't be released until one of the eight wins. The winner may claim his prize after the last one is dead, not till then. So if you want her, you have to fight for her." He grinned as he watched Yomi's indecision.

"I will fight for her," Kurama stepped forward.

"No, I saved the last space for our beloved ruler." He would not let the fox interfere. "Before you make up your mind, would you like to 'see' the prize?" He stepped forward and pulled a curtain aside. "Shame you can't see her, she's very beautiful."

Kurama's eyes widened, "Kagome." It had to be her, he'd only seen her a twice but he'd never forget what she looked like or her name.

"Yes, I believe that's what her name is. She's truelly a piece of work. All that beauty and power in a small package. What is it to be Yomi?"

Yomi could sense the girl's aura trying to come through the enchantment, it spoke of kindness and purity. "Very well, I will sign it." He snatched the pen from him and made his mark. The scroll automatically disappeared and Manzo laughed.

"See you in a week at the old arena.""

Kagome tried to speak, tried to move but she couldn't. It was starting to piss her off. She knew her captor thought her to be asleep under the spell. Yet she could hear everything around her, her mind was aware of everything. He was setting this Yomi up, whomever he was he'd just signed his death warrant. To make matters worse he was going to help kill her. That sick bastard had it all planned out.

She'd heard it spoken that this Yomi was the ruler of the Makai, the world of youkai. The thought of being surrounded by nothing but youkai gave her the willies. If she ever got out of this mess she was quiting her job. After she kicked that Manzo's ass. Not to mention this Yomi's, if the idiot would have taken the time to look he'd seen that Manzo's name hadn't been on that scroll.

"You do realize this could be a trap." Kurama spoke to him on the way back. "Why was it he saved a spot reserved just for you?"

"Are you worried about me old friend?" Yomi was sure Manzo was up to something, he just wasn't sure what. "Whatever spell was on that parchment it was indeed linked to the girl. I'm sure you sensed her power, she must be taken from the Makai as soon as possible."

"Yes, I have seen the girl in action myself already."

"Do tell." Yomi listened to his tale of the park fight. "So not only is she powerful, she knows how to use said power. I don't want a pissed off miko running around either. As soon as she is freed, she goes back to where she belongs."

"I agree, I'm sure her family is worried. I will inform Koenma of this new development." Kurama left Yomi to return and speak to Koenma. There would be no need for the others to try and join the tournament. Though Kurama would have them here none the less, he had a feeling Manzo was up to something.


The four arrived at Yomi's place the day before the tournament was to be held. Koenma wanted them to make sure that no matter what happened the jewel didn't fall into the wrong hands. Try to save the girl if possible. A meeting was held between the five, concerning what steps to take if things went wrong.

"It is a trap, I agree with the fox. You are playing right into the fool's hands." Hiei stated.

"Maybe but I will not die easily. The jewel can not fall into the hands of someone like Manzo. They would use it to destroy what I have taken centuries to accomplish, I will not allow it." Yomi also didn't want to see the girl die. He was becoming soft in his old age.

"Is this jewel thing that powerful?" Kuwabara asked.

"Yes, it can grant the user immense power." Kurama had never seen the jewel but had heard tales of it. "Five centuries when it was broken youkai and humans fought over just a single shard. Just a shard was enough to grant power. If she has the whole jewel, the wielder would become unstoppable."

"So, this is the same girl from the arcade right. The hot chick on the bike, the one that turned you down." Yusuke blurted out.

Yomi lifted an ear, "You forgot to mention that part fox."

"Well, it was not important." He'd make sure to throttle Yusuke later for bringing it up. "It's the same girl and she didn't exactly turn me down."

"Riiiggghhtt. What would you call it when a girl insults your manhood then turns down your company?"

"You made your point." He lifted a brow, figures the boy would have heard that part.

"I suggest we get some sleep, we leave early for the arena." Yomi smirked at the comment, so his old partner hadn't been able to charm the girl with just a smile. So she had brains too.
