A Goddess from the Past

Chapter 5

Kagome woke up to see a beautiful, no, breath-taking, gorgeous god next to her. The demoness ran her fingers along his muscular chest, feeling the ripples of muscles underneath her fingers. She smiled as she remembered how passionate their night together was, and wondered if there would be more nights like that.

'Bad Kagome! Don't think dirty thoughts like that!' Kagome blushed, but somehow, she felt different about her thoughts of Sesshomaru. Before, it was only a dream, an illusion to shield her from the reality, but now...

Kagome smiled happily as she snuggled back up to Sesshomaru, and fell back asleep.

Sesshomaru had felt her shift slightly as she woke up. Pretending to still be asleep, he waited to see what she would do next. He held back a sigh of comfort as she ran her fingers along his chest. After she fell asleep again, Sesshomaru took the time to examine his new treasure. During the two years that she had been gone, her body had filled in all her curves. He assumed that when she became a demon, all her muscles took their place to form her finely toned body.

By this time, the potion had worn off, and his inner beast awakened when he breathed in her intoxicating scent. Feeling her naked body next to his, Sesshomaru could feel blood rushing to his lower regions. Knowing that if he didn't leave soon, is demon side would emerge and demand for him to take her. As carefully as he could, he removed his arms from her, and slid himself out from underneath her. Sesshomaru glanced at his sleeping beauty once more before he got dressed and headed out.

The elders most definitely knew about his new mate, and would be waiting for the invitation to the formal ceremony. 'Jaken.'. 'Yes, Master Sesshomaru?', 'Go fetch that lion demoness and have her ready to greet and serve Kagome'. 'Right away, Mi'lord!'. Sesshomaru watched as the toad demon ran off to fetch the girl, then briskly walked to his study.

When Kagome woke up, she was disappointed when she realized that Sesshomaru had left her side. Soon, Kagome realized that she was not alone in the room. She pulled a blanket over her naked form, as she sat up. On her left, stood a kind looking girl, who looked at her with big curious eyes.

'Oh! Please excuse my manners! Good morning, mi'lady! My name Rina, and I have been assigned to be your personal servant! How are you feeling today?'.

Kagome smiled, 'It's a pleasure to meet you Rina! I'm feeling great today, but I was just wondering, would you happen to know where Sesshomaru-sama is?'.

'Oh! I suspect that he is in his study writing invitations for your formal mating ceremony!'. 'Oh! Where is his study?'. 'Just down the hall, and on your right'.

Suddenly, Kagome felt an uncomfortable presence standing at the door, as if it was spying on them. Kagome wrapped a blanket around her, and placed a finger to her lips. Rina understood, and watched Kagome silently.

Kagome floated over to the door and quickly opened the door, revealing a surprised, red-headed demoness. When her eyes met Kagome's, they filled with hatred and something else... Something Kagome hadn't seen before. The red-headed demoness bowed quickly before running off. Kagome looked back at Rina, 'Well, I wonder what that was all about'.

Rina looked down and shuffled towards Kagome. 'Umm... Lady Kagome?'. 'Yes Rina?'. 'About the demon back there... I don't mean to speak ill of her, but I think you should know some things about her.' Kagome looked at the Rina, 'What kind of things?...'.

'Well, why don't you come with me to the hot springs, and I'll tell you then. The walls there are thicker, so we won't have any unwanted listeners'. Kagome nodded as they walked to the springs.

Sesshomaru had heard Kagome slide the door open, and then the patter of feet. As the presence passed his door, Sesshomaru thrust an arm out the door, and clenched the neck of the guilty culprit. 'I thought I had made myself clear when I said that no one except Rina, was supposed to go to Kagome's room. What is the meaning of this?!'.

The demoness struggled to get free, but did not reply. Sesshomaru was furious. 'I don't care who you are, or who your family is, and whether or not you're a servant. When I said no one, I meant NO ONE. Now get that through your thick skill before I have to make a passage to your brain for you'. With that said, he tossed the demoness at the wall, then slammed the door to his study shut.

~Back at the hot springs~

'Her name is Madoka, and her father is in charge of the Northern and Southern Lands' army. Not in my self opinion or anything, but the Northern and Southern land army have been known to be plentiful, but are not very strong. Because Madoka's father is in charge of so many soldiers, Madoka thinks very highly of herself.'

'For the past few months, she has been trying to seduce Lord Sesshomaru, but of course, to no avail. Most of the servants, including I have been watching her, as we feel that she will do anything to get Sesshomaru-sama. A word of caution to you Lady Kagome, please be aware of her! She has even gone so far as to purposely bump into him naked!'.

'Oh my... What happened then?', Kagome was eager to know all the juicy rumours.

'Well... All I know is that there was an awfully large hole in the wall where it supposedly happened, and that Madoka was sent home.'

There was a slight knock on the door, and Rina quickly excused herself as she went to check who it was. Rina nodded quickly, shut the door, and returned to Kagome.

'Ah, we'll have to continue this talk later, because now we have to get you down to breakfast!'. Rina grabbed a towel as Kagome got out of the hot springs, and wrapped it around her. 'Oh this is so exciting! This is the first time in FOREVER that Lord Sesshomaru has dined with a lady! Kagome walked back into her bedroom, and allowed herself to be dressed and prettied by a VERY enthusiastic Rina.

'How could Sesshomaru have chosen that bitch over me? He's slipping away from my grasp. I have to get him back before the mating ritual is complete. I must have him...'. Madoka ran off to the kitchen as a fiendish idea began to form in her mind.

Kagome followed Rina through the maze of corridors. 'Oh boy, I hope I remember how to get back!'. 'Lady Kagome?', 'Oh! Yes Rina?'. 'We're now at the dining room. Have a nice meal!'.

Kagome smiled at her, and turned to open the door, only to find Sesshomaru there. 'Good morning Sesshomaru-sama!'. He nodded, then said, 'Rina, leave now, and tell Jaken to make sure no one comes in here.' Rina nodded, bowed and left.

Waiting until he was sure that Rina was gone, he dropped his stoic mask. 'Well, Lady Kagome, would you give me the pleasure of dining with you?'. Kagome blushed and said just as elegantly, 'Why of course my Lord!'. She raised her arm to Sesshomaru, and he gladly took it as he led her into the dining room. Their meal was quiet, but the atmosphere was pleasant.

Just as their meal ended, Kagome suddenly felt excruciating pain at her neck, where her mating mark was. She clutched it in pain and hissed. 'Kagome! What's wrong? Here, let me see it', Sesshomaru immediately sat next to her, and moved Kagome's hand from the mark. Sesshomaru watched as the mark began to disappear before his eyes, and he could feel his hand that was on her back get wet. Sesshomaru looked back, and saw that she was bleeding heavily, but there was no wound.

Madoka decided to make her appearance at that very moment. She burst through the door and said, 'Sesshomaru dear! Did the potion you put in her food work? I sure hope so! Now we can get back to our love-making like before!'. Madoka looked at Kagome's neck, 'Oh! I guess it did work!'. Sesshomaru let Kagome go, and was now grasping Madoka's neck.

'If you don't tell me what you did to Kagome, I will KILL you'. 'And what IF I don't tell you, and you killed me? Then how would you heal your little bitch?'.

'GUARDS! LOCK THIS FILTH IN THE DUNGEON. SEARCH HER FOR ANY POISON, AND THEN TORTURE HER UNTIL SHE TELLS HOW TO CURE KAGOME!!!', Sesshomaru roared. He tossed Madoka at the guards, who quickly left with her. 'Jaken! Go fetch all the doctors you can and bring them back immediately'. 'Yes my lord!'.

Sesshomaru went back to Kagome, who was now lying in a pool of her own blood. 'Sesshomaru... What's happening... to...' Kagome felt the darkness engulf her, leaving her unconscious in her lovers' arms.

'Kagome... You have to stay strong..... for me...'
