Death of an Anime

A/N- Everyone still here?? Wow, you must all be as emotionally masochistic as I am! Kikyou was the next target, and she was taken down fairly easily.

"So...Naraku is dead." It's not as if she was exactly surprised. Kikyou had always known it would happen. Either Inuyasha and his group of jewel seekers would do it, or she herself would. She just hadn't expected that it would take the entire group to do it. She shook her head, walking away from the scene of the bloody battle. Inuyasha's body had not been there. Neither had the body of her reincarnation. Did that mean her soul was now hers again? She hadn't felt any difference...none of the glowing balls her shikigami had brought to her had been her own. Kikyou tucked the rogue shikon shard she had found inside her yukata.

"I wonder...if the rest of it was sucked in with Naraku?" What a loss, if it was. But then again, she'd not have to watch over it anymore. It was almost a relief.

She had walked a small distance, when something at the edge of the forest caught her attention. It was a small pile of stones with a dead branch sticking out of it. Hung in the branch was Inuyasha's rosary. The one that her reincarnation had been able to use to control him. Kikyou's eyes widened imperceptibly. This could only mean one thing.

"Inuyasha...is dead."

"Yes." Came the sound of a familiar deep voice from behind her. "He is."

Kikyou whirled around, and there was the young leader of the Shichinintai, Bankotsu. "Aren't you supposed to be dead?"

Bankotsu smirked. "Aren't you?" Kikyou looked back at Inuyasha's grave, a thoughtful look on her face.

"Maybe..." Naraku was dead...Inuyasha was dead. He had allowed someone else to take his life. This man had taken his life. She looked back at Bankotsu. His sapphire eyes were narrowed, and he was looking at her very seriously. "What?"

"You have a Shikon shard." He smiled. It was not a nice smile. "I want it." Kikyou looked at him like he had gone crazy.

"How can you see the shards?" Bankotsu examined the handle of Banryuu and grinned.

"I can't. I just followed you from the bodies of all the others. Now are you going to give me that shard? Or do I have to kill you this time?"

Kikyou looked back at Inuyasha's grave. She looked at Bankotsu. There were no shards in his body this time. However he was brought back, it wasn't by the power of the Shikon no Tama. She reached into her yukata and brought out the shard. Peering down at it, she answered him.

"Why do you want it?"

"The power. Of course. Now, are you gonna hand it over or do you want to die?"

Kikyou frowned and drew an arrow, putting it to her bow. "I'm afraid I can't let you--" She didn't get any further before she heard a noise behind her. Bankotsu's eyes widened and he smirked. That arrogant face was the last thing the twice-dead miko saw before shining, glimmering blades curled around her. Jakotsu flicked his wrist casually, yawning, and the clay body broke under the pressure. Balls of glowing light flew from the shattered form, fleeing to their their finally peaceful rest.

Bankotsu walked over and plucked the shard from the remains of the fallen miko. Jakotsu yawned again and Bankotsu looked up happily.

"Tired, Jakotsu? But you didn't even have to break a sweat!" Jakotsu yawned again and grinned at him.

"Aniki...it's not what we did..today..that's got me tired." Bankotsu laughed, blushing slightly, and hefted Banryuu over his shoulder again.

"Let's go."
