Kagome headed toward her english class and went over what had just occured. 'He actually offered to help me. I don't know why. I know I couldn't and still can't stop thinking about him but why? Well maybe as I get to know him better I'll figure out what the hell is nagging at me.' She blew out a deep breath she didn't know she'd been holding. 'The next couple of months should definately be interesting. Those were the last thoughts that ran through her head as she swept into her english room and made a beeline for a front seat near the professors podium.
Chapter Five
Kagome met up with Sango for lunch. It had been a hectic first day back so far. Kagome had been assigned chapters 1-5 to read in her textbook for psych 101. Followed by a ten page essay on the first short story (which consisted of 57 pages) in her new english textbook. To top off her spectatcular morning she was late for her law class and learned that her professor, a rather short stout 63 year old with a crooked nose and large specticles, Professor Jenkins, was not one for tardiness. He very graciously told her that she was to give an oral presentation on his lesson, that day, tomarrow.
Letting out a groan, Kagome rested her head on the top of glass pane of the table, outside Mimi's cafe. "Kag, you okay?" Sango was slightly worried about the girl across from her. Kagome had said very little to her. That definately wasn't like her. Usually it took a hand over her mouth to shut her up. "Kagome?" she repeated the girls name for good measure when she said nothing.
Kagome looked up at her friend. "Yeah Sango. I've just had a very, VERY, long day. How was yours?" Kagome was trying to direct the spotlight from herself and to her best friend. She didn't quite feel like relaying her day to her friend, especially seeing her day wasn't over yet. She still had her archery class to get to.
Sango was about to reply when the one voice that made Kagome want to hide spoke up. "Hey Kagome. How's my woman?" Kouga Wolf was headed their way from up the blvd. "Oh no hide me. Sango." Kagome groaned. This just wasn't her day. Kouga was most certainly going to pull his usual crap.
Kouga swept an arm around Kagome's shoulders pulling a seat up next to her. "Hi Kouga." she said his name while trying to pry his grip from her. "How you been Kagome? I called you and you didn't answer." he said this as if her only reason for living was to be at his beck and call. "I just came back from visiting my family in Japan. Right now me and Sango need to get going though. Sorry maybe we could catch up later." she tried to smile but only ended up with a shadow of a grin.
Though he was dejected, Kouga still kept his smile and grip on her. "Okay how about me and you go out later than?" he sure was persistant. "Sorry I have loads of homework. But I'll call you okay? Thanks bye." Kagome quickly slipped out of his embrace and over to where Sango had taken the hint and paid the bill for their salads, which they hadn't really eaten. "Okay. Later woman." he tried to kiss her, but she ducked and grabbed her coat leaving a very confused Kouga.
"Damn. He really has it bad for you Kagome. Maybe you should go on a date with him just to get him off your back." Sango suggested this and Kagome gave her a look that said 'Are you nuts?' before replying. "Sango. If I go out with that stalker he'll think I like him. Then he'll never leave me alone. As it is he thinks I'm his woman. I could just imagine what he'd be like." Kagome shuddered. It's not that Kouga was a bad guy it's just that Kagome hated the obsessive possessive type.
Making a sharp right down the blvd, Sang and Kagome made their way to campus which wasn't far. "It was just a thought anyways. So what was your day like so far." Sango was steering their conversation back to Kagome which she didn't want. "Horrid. You?" 'Good dodge Kagome' she patted herself on the back for that one.
Sango went into a big thing about this pervert she had met in her buisness class. Some guy had touched her ass and then asked her to bare his child. She was kicked out of class for knocking the guy unconscious and kicking him down the steps on her way out. 'That's just like Sango. She doesn't take shit from anyone'. Kagome was listening half heartedly. She was still thinking about Inuyasha's offer to help her with her dancing. He didn't seem like the kind of guy to do something like that. They reached the campus and split up with short goodbye's headed off in seperate directions.
Kagome entered the back field to the left part of campus. There were many rows of targets set up. Kagome had practiced archery since she was 5 and she loved it. It gave her a sense of strength. She practiced many things as a child, but this and kendo were her favorite by far. Kagome had won several trophies and metals. This would most likely be her favorite class.
A whistle blew and a woman with a bow and arrow stepped onto the field. She shot a bullseye before turning to face an astonished class. "This class will hopefully teach most of you some decent archery skills. Today I will help those of you who have no clue at all how to wield a bow and arrow how to do so. For those of you who have some prior knowledge grab the equipment and head to the field and practice. Beginners form a line infront of me." shouted a tall lean woman with blonde hair and green eyes and a very pointy nose. Her strong jaw line and set features screamed stern and strick.
Kagome checked over the bows and picked up one that seemed to scream out to her. She grabbed it bending it's string and plucked it. It was good enough. Picking up arrows to go with it, Kagome lined herself and her bow up with a target fifty feet away. Pulling back her arrow she released. It hit the bullseye and a girl her own age that looked similar to her glanced at her. She then strung up her own bow and arrow and hit the bullseye of her target. It was a silent unsaid challenge. Kagome nodded and moved up to the hundred ft targets.
The girl was almost matched with Kagome, but had a haughty air about her like she thought she was the best. Kagome never underestimated her opponent no matter how good she knew she was someone was always better. Thinking otherwise would surely lead her to carelessness and mistakes. In the end Kagome and the girl were at a tie. For the tie breaker Kagome had to shoot at the same target as the girl. Even though the girl had smirked and gave a cold laugh at the determination on her face, Kagome wasn't afraid.
Stringing her bow she noticed that the whole class was now watching the competition including the teacher. She closed her eyes for a moment and silently prayed. She released and there was silence. Opening her eyes Kagome saw everyone including the stuck up girl staring in the direction of the target. Turning her eyes to the target she realized why. Kagome had not only hit the bullseye, but she had split the other girls arrow officially beating the girl.
"Well, that was a very good show girls. I believe you've won. Congradulations." The teacher was directing the comments at Kagome. She nodded and walked to the other girl she had just beat, hand out to shake hers. The girls eyes were narrows and straight. Slapping her hand away the girl sneered. "Please. It was sheer luck a little girl like you could beat me."
Kagome recoiled her hand and gave the girl a hard glare. "Well at least you have the comfort of knowing that out of the two of us you'd win in a bitch contest." Kagome turned to walk away when she felt something was wrong and turned in time to see the arrow headed her way. She jumped out of the way. The shock came after she realized what had just happened. She looked in the direction the girl was, but no one was there.
Kagome got to her feet and walked in the direction to her apartment. She was nonpulsed by what had transpired because many contestants got that way with her when she won a contest. Of course no one had shot an arrow at her since she was eleven. Usually people were more adult about losing when they got older. Kagome need to get home and take a shower and get ready for her dance lesson with Inuyasha. Her last thought was 'It's been a long day'.
A/N: I know that you all probably thought I'd get to the first dance lesson with Inuyasha, you'll just have to wait 'til tomarrow. Thanks for reading. Please review. Until next time......Egyptian Kiss!
