Chapter 5
Disclaimer: Sadly enough I do not own Inuyasha or any of his related story. *sigh* A girl can dream right?
Loosing what little balance she had Kagome pitched forward seeing the ground approach at a frightful pace.
Warmth.
Kagome was no longer falling, but being held close in the arms of her savior. Kagome could hear the rhythm of his heart play a regular beat which contrasted to the stacatto her's was thrumming. She looked into he eyes and felt a sudden heat form in her abdomen. She blushed as certain thoughts formed in her mind. Her head jerked up as a hand sneaked over her rear, but it traveled over the danger zone to rest on her hip. Relaxing, her hand reached to touch his cheek, but paused right before the contact. With a featherlight touch she then traced his face from the temple, along the jaw, and coming to rest just below his lower lip.
She had wanted to do this for a few years now. To feel this warmth and contact. She had been reluctant to even show some of these emotions, but something must have leaked through the careful barrier she had put up.
He closed the distance between them as his lips descended onto her's. She wrapped her arms around his neck to bring him even closer. Kagome loved his taste. It was as refreshing and new as a rain shower. He plundered her mouth as if finding a treasure. She shivered as his hands found exciting paths along her body.

"ACHOO!!" The gigantic sneeze sent Kagome sprawling off her bed.
She peered blearily at her alarm. The cool green light washed over her as the digital display read out 5:00am. Knowing that after she had so spectacularly woken up she wasn't going back to her dream, Kagome shook her foggy head trying to get her brain to focus. Her body made her aware that even if she wasn't awake yet it still needed some things taken care of. Toilet, Teeth, Shower, in that order. Then she'd try some more coherent thought patterns. As long as she was in the Sengoku Jidai by 8:00am she wouldn't have to worry about an overly protective hanyou dragging her off by the scruff of her neck. Even if the scruff of the neck part sounded painful she wouldn't mind all that much. Inuyasha's concern for her while often exasperating was heartwarming.
*In some ways chivalry was dead even in the feudal era, but things could be worse.* Kagome mused. Having taken care of the first parts of her list she sauntered to the shower. After the water was warm enough Kagome put her body under the stream. The water ran in rivulets across the curves of her figure. Placing a hand on her abdomen Kagome tried to imagine it swelled and prominent. Somehow the idea of being Mommy was becoming less and less frightening. Kagome finished her shower quickly after that looking forward to some breakfast.
Kagome passed her brother's room and paused. She glanced inside. Unlike his usually impish countenance Souta looked like a symbol of innocence. He was curled in a small ball, tightly wrapped around something. Kagome wandered oveer to see a picture in his grasp. She tugged it out of his grip and felt her eyes burning. It was the last picture ever taken of their father. Souta had just been a baby and had never really known him when the accident had taken him away from them. For some reason their father's death had taken a harder toll on her brother than her. Kagome had always believed this to be because he didn't have the happy memories his sister did. Thinking of her present perdicament Kagome became resolved that her child would never live without the love of a father.
Kagome placed the picture back in her brother's grip and went to her own room. There she stripped her robe and dressed in her normal sailor fuku. Kagome came into the kitchen and the scent of warm rice and tea filled her nose. Simple and pleasant. Just like her mom.
Kagome smiled at her mother and filled her bowl and sat down. Quietly sipping the tea Kia examined her daughter.
The girl had blossomed into a young woman seemingly over night. It wasn't just her body that had changed either. Kagome had turned into an adult filled with responsibilities. For the most part Kia believed that she could handle those responsibilities, but in some areas Kagome still seemed rather naive. There was also something bothering Kia. A suspicion was wriggling its way in her mind, but she didn't want to act without more proof.. Most of her thoughts were centered around the many males in Kagome's constant presence. The white haired boy that would occasionally join their household. The monk that she had never met, but certainly heard of. Even poor Hojo was among the listed. The only reason Kia had encouraged the date was to see if her suspicions were true. While he had been certainly eager to escort Kagome, the girl had tried to escape this obligation several times. This encouraged Kia until Kagome had returned the next morning reeling with a hangover. Kia sighed and decided what will be will be.
*I just hope she makes wise choices*, Kagome smiled at her mother and picked up her dishes and washed them in the sink, placing them on the drying rack. She then ran upstairs to grab the bulging pack. After that she dashed out to the well house to her protector in the Feudal Era.
