Day3 Kagome

Benten hid behind the tree and watched the searchers of the Shikon no Tama. Finally they were all asleep. She walked over to Kagome and unzipped the bag she was sleeping in. She picked up the little kitsune and quietly placed him beside the neko youkai. When the kitsune curled up against the neko youkai Benten walked back to Kagome and took out a small pouch that was attached to her waist. She sprinkled the powder on Kagome and quietly covered her up and started to zip the bag back up but froze when Kagome moaned at the sound the contraption made so she left it unzipped and moved into the forest where she disappeared.

Kagome awoke before dawn. It had gotten so hot in her sleeping bag that she could hardly breath. Kagome set up and looked at her sleeping bag. I must have unzipped it sometime in the night. She looked down and started to pick up Shippou but he wasn't beside her. Where did he go. She stood up and started to look around the camp. When she turned around she caught a shadow behind her and screamed.

Shippou, Inuyasha, Miroku, Kirara, and Sango were awoken with her scream and were by her side in an instant. "What is it?" Inuyasha asked Kagome.

"There was something behind me when I woke up." Kagome pointed to where Sango was standing. "It was right there."

"Did you see what it was Lady Kagome?" Miroku looked around the camp and could find nothing out of the ordinary.

Sango looked around the edge of the forest and came back to Kagome "Kagome there is no sign of anything. In fact there is no sign of anything besides us in this clearing." I am so worried about Kagome after everything she has been through in the last 2 days maybe she is just overly tired and her eyes are playing tricks on her.

Kagome turned around to look at the clearing and stopped when she heard all her friends gasp. "What? Did you find what it was?"

"I think you found it Kagome." Sango saw her friend look at her and couldn't help but laugh. "Look behind you?"

Kagome turned her head but didn't see anything. Then she saw a movement out of the corner of her eye and jumped back which caused her to trip over her sleeping bag and fall. It didn't hurt when she fell though because she landed on something soft. She looked to see what she fell on. "Ouch" It was something fluffy. She touched it and it felt so soft but then it moved. "Eep." She jumped up and the fluffy thing was following her. She stopped when she heard the others laughing and glanced over at them. They were rolling around the clearing and laughing so hard they couldn't even stand up. "Just what do you all think is so funny? I am getting attacked by a fluffy who knows what and all you all can do is laugh at me." Kagome turned to get away from the fluffy thing and she was getting aggravated. It didn't seem like she could loose the thing. It was almost like it was attached to her or something. She suddenly stopped and looked behind her sure enough the fluffy thing was there. She knelt down and picked it up. Then she followed the length of it with her hand and found out it was connected to her "What in the world? I seem to have grown a tail." She looked at her companions. "You all could have told me instead of laughing at my expense. Some friends you are." She stomps over to her sleeping bag and sat down.

"I am sorry Kagome but you were literally like a dog chasing it's tail. It was just so funny to watch." Sango wiped her hands across her face to dry the tears from it.

"That was the funniest thing I have seen in a while Kagome" Inuyasha looked at Kagome and suddenly his laughter stopped.

"Sit boy." Kagome put her tail on her lap and started petting it. She couldn't get over how soft it truly was.

"Forgive us Kagome for laughing at you but you have got to admit that if that had happened to one of us you would have been laughing too." Miroku went and sat beside the fire close to Sango.

"I'm sorry guys I guess maybe I did over react a little." Kagome smiled at her friends.

"I wish you would have discovered this before you sat me." Inuyasha jumped back on his tree to get away from her.

Shippou jumped up on Kagomes shoulder "Ah Kagome." now that he was fully awake he could smell Kagome better. "Kagome why do you still not smelll like a full blooded demon even if you are looking more like one now?"

"I don't know Shippou. I don't know much of anything any more." Kagome knew this was a lie but since she wasn't allowed to tell them what was a girl to do.

Inuyasha looked down at the camp. "Well since we are awake now why don't we head to Kaede's. If we leave now we can get there soon." Everyone started clearing camp and before long they took off.

They made it to Kaede's village around noon and went to search for her. Miroku came back from talking to a villager "It seems that Kaede was needed in the next village and will not return till tomorrow."

"Oh good then I can go home for a few days." Kagome smiled and headed to the well.

"What do you mean you can go home for a few days. We need to find the rest of the shards and we have two days." Inuyasha stood with his arms crossed and glared at Kagome.

Kagome sighed and shook her head. "Inuyasha I have to talk to my family before I turn into a full demon. I don't know if the well will let me through when that happens and this might be my last chance to see them."

"We can search around close to town. You don't have to go home." Inuyasha turned his back to Kagome and started walking away.

"Oh Inuyasha" Kagome said in a soft voice and waited till he turned to face her and almost bursted out laughing when she saw him grimace "Sit boy." Kagome watched him eat dirt and she turned and walked toward the well.

"He should have seen that one coming." Shippou turned to the other two and saw there nods then he ran after Kagome. He made it to the top of a hill and saw Kagome close to the well and shouted "Kagome don't forget my treats." He watched her stop and turn then she waved at him so he waved back then he turned and headed back to Kaede's hut.

Kagome walked to the well and set down on the lip of it. I wonder how mom, gramps and Souta would act when they saw her. She has changed quite a bit since she was last home. They would get use to it I am sure. Oh well better get it over with. Kagome climbed up on the lip of the well and jumped in. The blue light softly engulfed her and then she was being put down gently on the ground. She looked up and saw the roof over the well. She climbed out of the well and opened the door. The smells almost made her faint. She put her hand over her nose to help block the smells. No wonder Inuyasha never stayed here long if it smelled as bad to him as it does me I am surprised he ever came back after the first time. She ran to the house and opened the door. "Mom I'm home!"

"I'm in the kitchen Kagome."

Kagome walked into the kitchen and saw her mom doing the dishes. "Hi mom can you take a break we need to talk." Her mom turned to her and smiled for about a second before she noticed her daughters ears and the furry thing wrapped around her waist.

"Kagome what happened?" Arisa turned to the table and collapsed into one of the chairs.

"Well mom it started a couple of days ago first I get attacked by a tornado and ended up with a mark of a whirlwind on my back then that night when I went to sleep I woke up with the ears and when I woke up this morning I had the tail." Kagome watched her mom nod her head. "And according to Shippou and Inuyasha I smell like a hanyou now instead of a human. And since I seem to be turning into a demon I don't know if the well will let me back through so I came to say good-bye just in case it doesn't and I didn't want you all to worry about me if I disappeared." With that said Kagome fell into her mothers arms and started crying.

"Kagome you have been going to the feudal era for almost four years and every time you left we worried that you might not ever return. I know you don't tell us everything that goes on there but we can guess. You face dangers probably countless times a day and do you know why I kept letting you go back?" Arisa put her finger under Kagome's chin and lifted her face up "You have a great responsibility and great power to go with that responsibility. I have faith in you and your companions to protect yourselves. I must believe in that faith or I would never let you go and even if it means that I never see you again I must let you go. You have a great future ahead of you and if you are meant to live it in the feudal era so be it. It is not up to me to stop you from achieving your goal." Arisa reached across the table and grabbed a couple of tissues and handed one to her daughter and kept one for herself.

"You are the best mom." Kagome used the tissue to dry her eyes and then hugged her mom. "I have to get a few things just in case I can no longer use the well. Thank you for understanding." She grabs her bag and runs upstairs. Lets see I will need some more shampoo, conditioner, lotion, some clothes and I had better not forget Shippou's treats. She grabs everything and stuffs it into her bag then goes and grabs a couple of skirts and goes back downstairs. "Mom where are gramps and Souta?"

"They are out visiting friends but they should be back soon. Do you have the time to wait for them?" Arisa looked up from the stove to see her daughter leaning against the door jam.

"Yeah I'm not expected back for a couple of days." Kagome sat down at the table and her mom put her food in front of her. "You didn't have to cook all this for me mom." Apparently her mom had cooked most of her favorite food when she went upstairs. "Hey mom can you help me fix these skirts to fit my tail nothing I have feels comfortable anymore?"

"You know Kagome it might be easier to adjust some of my older kimono's to fit your tail than those skirts and they would be more useful in the feudal era than those skirts if you get stuck there." Arisa picks up the skirts and heads out of the room "I will be back in a minute you stay and eat your food and don't worry about the dishes I will do them later."

Kagome ate her food then cleaned the plate off and laid it in the sink to be washed later. She didn't have long to wait before her mom came back with the kimono's. "These should fit you they are the smallest ones I have." Arisa handed Kagome the three kimono's then turned to go into the living room. "If you go put the first one on we can mark it where we need to adjust it then use it as a guide for the others." She waited for her to put on the top kimono "Turn around dear." She waited till Kagome turned then felt the back of the kimono to where Kagomes tail started and made her mark "Ok you can take it off then we can adjust it." Kagome took of the kimono then handed it to her mother who cut a hole in it then sewed the edges so they wouldn't fray. "That should do it now try it back on and see if that works."

She put the kimono back on and her mom helped guide her tail through the hole. "Thanks mom that feels better." She picked up the next one and between her and her mom they had all the adjustments made in no time. "I am going to miss all that you do for me if the well won't let me back through. But since it seems that I am turning into a demon I will have their life span also. Which means that I will live to see you all again." If I don't die before then that is.

"Maybe Inuyasha will finally decide to choose you over Kikyou." Arisa turned to her daughter and smiled.

"No mom it is over. I still love Inuyasha but it is a love of a brother instead of a husband or mate. If he hadn't chose me in almost four years I really don't want him to choose me just because I am turning into a demon. I deserve more than that." Kagome turned and hugged her mother. "Besides I kind of like his older brother he is sooo hot, and powerful and I know he would be a good protector." A picture of Sesshoumaru went through her mind and Kagome could feel the shivers run up her back.

"But Kagome isn't he the one who has tried to kill you just to get Inuyasha's sword?" Arisa turned worried eyes on her daughter.

"I think he has changed since he took in a little girl named Rin. Don't get me wrong he can still be dangerous but I am pretty sure something has changed him and for the better at least a little bit." Kagome picked up a magazine and fanned her face was it getting hotter in the house or was it just her?

Arisa watched her daughter and laughed a little when her face grew flushed and she started fanning herself with the magazine. "I trust your judgement Kagome just be careful."

"I will mom. I think that I am going to take a nap before Souta and gramps get home." She turned and walked up the stairs to her room. Before long she was asleep.
