Romania

Three forms lay on a cold stone floor as the sun finished its journey and woke the moon on its path. Ebony hair shifted as Kagome woke. She panicked.

This was not where she had hidden for the day.

A quick glance showed her that Shido slept not far from her placement. She sighed in relief. A second glance revealed that Cain sat nearby, watching the door intently as though to puck their captor from the very air.

She moved to join his and Shido shifted, raising his head to peer at her. Guilt flooded him then. He was the older of them both; it should have been his job to protect her, not the other way around. Cain motioned for silence as he stood and opened the door.

A figure sat with three humans trembling at his feet. "Naraku." Kagome hissed, anger filling her as it never had before. Crimson met gold. "Kagome." Naraku whispered, sending disgusted chills up her spin. "Go to hell, Naraku!" She hissed. Shido blinked in confusion at her words. He'd have to ask her later.

Cain had the hanyou by the neck in one blurry movement. In another, he had torn the throat from the thing. Disgust was evident as the doll fell into a pile of dust.

Kagura was there to knock them down, but a roar from above stopped her in her tracks. Sesshoumaru had found his prey. The roof was torn clear from its hinges as the youkai slashed at it, and Kagura fled. Naraku would be displeased, but at the moment she could care less.

Quickly the vampire fed from the trembling humans, preparing for the battle ahead. Sesshoumaru reached down with a massive paw, racking claws across Cain's back.

The vampire withdrew his whip, catching the massive paw as it swung for Shido. Blood flowed in rivers onto the ground. Shido bit his finger and created his sword, ready to protect himself as his sibling if necessary.

Tears fell in waves down Kagome's cheeks. She couldn't stand to see them fighting. She wanted to go with Cain, but she would give him up to please Sesshoumaru if he had to.

She wanted them to make peace, but she knew better than to believe that youkai and vampire could ever be more than enemies.

She ran, catching Shido off guard. In an instant he was after her. What was she thinking!? He called to her and she ignored him, intent to get to the fight before they could kill each other.

Suddenly the Shikon pulsed and a blinding light filled the area. Kagome screamed. The sound was lost over the rush of power. She could feel the shards that Naraku had pulse in time with her own. She could feel his anger.

Vaguely, she was aware that she could feel Shido's pain. He was thrashing nearby. Before her, Cain and Sesshoumaru fought to keep the purification from touching them. The Shikon pulsed again, and Kagome reeled with the pain.

A sudden thought came into her head, and she held onto it like a lifeline. She wished with all her heart that the three would make peace with each other. The thundering of power turned into an echo and began to fade.

Kagome sighed as the pain retreated. Before it could fade completely, the jewel flared and then turned soothing. Kagome watched as it shards lifted and faded away. The wish had been made, and the jewel was purified. Across the land a roar like no other rocked the earth as Naraku's shards faded away.

Sesshoumaru rushed forward to catch the miko as she fell into unconsciousness. He was aware that the hatred and blood lust was gone now, and knew she had something to do with it. He still wanted vengeance, but couldn't find the energy needed to take it the vampire.

He had originally wanted to break the girl so she would obey only him. Instead, he had broken her to the point where fighting back was nearly anathema to her.

It could be remedied, but the damage was done.

He lifted the girl and waited for Cain to notice before walking towards his castle. Cain growled at the obvious display and followed after. There was much that needed discussing, after all. Shido followed reluctantly, the ache from the purity of the jewel still obvious in his bones.

They hadn't gotten very far when Kagome bolted upright and jumped from Sesshoumaru's arms. She looked around frantically and calmed when she saw that Cain and Shido yet lived. She ran and hid behind Shido, snuggling into his back.

Sesshoumaru growled and stepped forward but Cain shook his head. Violet hair caught the moonlight as amber met emerald. The taiyoukai paused. Never had he seen a male that held such beauty. Shido blushed but couldn't look away. Jealousy filled the master vampire as his MATE flirted with the youkai. Kagome hissed and ran to Cain, the two seething in jealousy.

Cain pulled the girl to him, leaning down and capturing her lips in his. Kagome welcomed the intrusion, and parted her lips to his demand. She rocked against him lightly, relishing in the sounds of Sesshoumaru's jealous anger. Shido's blush deepened in guilt and he finally looked away. The kiss ended and Cain was there to chastise his mate over his behavior.

Kagome squeaked and ran behind Shido once more, trembling when Sesshoumaru growled. Cain sighed and moved away, pinning a glare on the advancing youkai. "It is natural," he said, "for a fledgling to seek comfort in a blood sibling when afraid." Sesshoumaru flicked his tail in agitation and turned to continue the journey to his castle.

Kagome grabbed Shido's hand and led him after her former master. She paused. Former master? Yes, that is what he was, she realized. Sesshoumaru no longer had control over her, for he had no power over vampire. She didn't know when she had stopped calling him Sesshoumaru-sama, but she figured it really didn't matter.

Shido sighed and relaxed, letting her pull him about. It was perfectly normal for a fledgling to pull an older sibling about. They loved to show off the things they learned.

Shido remembered what it was like, as his own younger brother loved to show off... A quick as the memory came, it vanished. Anger welled. Cain had removed the memory as soon as it surfaced. One day the two would argue over this lack of trust, and Shido would run from his mate. But that day was well in the future.

Kagome sensed her blood brother's anger, and quickly worked to distract him. She began telling him of the future, and all listened attentively. She spoke of buildings that touched the sky and carriages that moved without the need of horses.

Just as the sun was rising in the east, the four stopped before the Western Castle. Sesshoumaru led them to a dark, windowless room for the day and headed for his study.

There was much to do in the few hours daylight gave him.

Kagome woke to the sounds of Cain claiming his mate. A blush spread and she turned away so as not to see anything. The soft sound of flesh on flesh and rhythmic grunting had her aroused before she knew it, however, and the miko couldn't help but join in.

When the three were finally ready to meet with Sesshoumaru, the moon was well into its journey.

A servant waited to lead them to the study, where Jaken opened the doors and admitted them. Kagome gazed at her surroundings, awe struck by the books that littered the chairs, tables and shelves. Cain watched the youkai intently.

Kagome turned and awaited her punishment, knowing full well that it would be painful. She shuddered at the thought. She was horror struck, however, when Sesshoumaru informed her that there was to be no punishment, in fact, he had said that there was to be no further pain granted to her.

Terror struck her. It was the worst punishment he had ever given. Shido tried in vain to shush her, and Sesshoumaru let a small smirk grace his features. The two were easily distracted.

Cain sat languidly on the sofa, gazing intently at the youkai.

He didn't have long to wait.

"I am aware that Kagome needs her... sire, to teach her." Sesshoumaru said. "However, I do not plan to allow you to take her from me."

Cain looked thoughtful. "You want us to live in your castle," he said, "and leave when the training is done?"

Sesshoumaru's eyes narrowed. "I know of vampire courts." He said. "Ah, you have studied." Cain said, eyes slitting in amusement.

"This Sesshoumaru demands you take him there during her... training." Cain raised a perfect eyebrow. "You are aware that youkai are treated no better than breed by vampire?" Sesshoumaru said nothing, only glared at the apparent insult to his knowledge. Golden hair glimmered in the candlelight as laughter poured from Cain. The noise in the back stopped as the two sought to discover what had sent the master vampire into laughter.

Kagome saw the amusement that came off of Sesshoumaru, though she knew you'd have to know him well to see it. She turned her attention to her sire, wondering at what Sesshoumaru could have possibly said that would be so amusing.

The laughter slowed and stopped, though the amusement was still evident.

"I agree. We will leave for Romania as soon as possible." Shido frowned. They were returning to court? So soon? "I have already made such arrangements." The youkai said. "My, you have been busy." Cain replied.

The two stood and ushered the younglings from the room. Kagome gasped as she was ushered onto Ah-Un's back. She had a moment to share a confused look with Shido before the beast took off.

In only a few minutes they were at the sea, watching a ship of immeasurable size float softly in the distance.

Kagome gasped in delight as the form of Kirara appeared on the boat. She hadn't seen her friend since the first fight between Sesshoumaru and Cain, when Shido kidnapped her. As soon as Ah-Un landed, she ran and hugged the neko. Sesshoumaru sent the oni home with specific orders to protect his domain until he could return.

Ah-Un left for home, more than ready to obey the given command.

Cain led Shido down into the captain's cabin, claiming it for his own. Not five minutes later Kagome entered, Kirara on her shoulder. She yawned and plopped onto the bed, falling asleep instantly. Kirara mewed until Shido patted her head. He gasped when she climbed up onto his shoulder, resting comfortably.

Cain watched in amusement. There was no telling what else Kagome would drag in from wherever. He hoped that she would not miss her former life too badly, as she spoke so lovingly of them. He sighed. She would go through a terrible depression, no doubt. He had time to wonder if Sesshoumaru had thought that Kagome may wish to stay with her own kind.

Most vampires didn't leave the courts once introduced to them, and Kagome seemed no different. He let his gaze fall on her, letting the warmth spread through him at her peaceful look. His ulterior motive for having her was to give Shido someone he could relate to. Cain was no fool; he knew that Shido was playing with the idea of leaving him.

Shido settled beside his sibling and let himself drift to sleep. The soothing motion of the waves lulled even Cain into a half doze.

The sun rose and fell three times before the ship came to a stop. Kagome hadn't seen Sesshoumaru once in all that time. She'd been pouting the whole trip. Kirara had been a comforting presence, and Shido had helped her feed over the stay. The problem was, a vampire couldn't feed and not kill. Only the blood of the heart sated her thirst, Shido helped her work through it, though she still felt guilty.

The day was spent in an inn, where Kirara kept watch over the youngest vampire. Night came, as it always did, and the group walked toward Cain's castle. Kirara worked as a carrier for Kagome. She was a fledgling yet, and she would be tired more often than not. The pace was rough, though only humans would have felt it.

Upon arrival Cain led his guest to a chamber of his own; making sure Shido took Kagome to their chambers. When his mate and the others were out of sight, he turned to gaze at the taiyoukai.

"It upsets the girl that you will not speak to her." He said at last. Sesshoumaru glared. "It is not of your concern what this Sesshoumaru does or does not do." He growled.

Cain let his anger overtake him. "This is my land, youkai. You would do well to heed my commands." Sesshoumaru's eyes bled red, and as soon as the blood lust overtook him, it dissipated. The Shikon kept the wish intact.

Sesshoumaru turned away and settled himself onto the chair before the fire, dismissing the vampire. Cain snorted and left.

Shido had already settled the girl on their bed, and Cain couldn't help waking her. She stirred under his touch, opening foggy eyes to stare in confusion at her sire. "You have much to learn, Kagome." Cain whispered as he let his fingers roam through her hair. She snuggled up to him, purring softly.

Shido popped into the other room to grab Kirara before bouncing back in. Kagome starched and stood, following after her sire. Kirara mewled on the bed to indicate she would be fine. Cain had new clothes brought in for her. A silky, violet gown trimmed in silver slid down her frame, a slit up the side revealed her shapely legs. Soft black, knee high sandals with braided cords accompanied the dress, and blood-red ribbons were embroidered into her hair.

She felt like royalty.

Cain led her to the gather of his court, where she watched her sire and his mate take their place above them. She was left with a young master to show her around. The end of the night came too slowly, and Kagome found herself wandering the dark halls alone. The master hadn't seen her leave, and didn't seem to care either way.

She stumbled across many lovers on her walk, and found herself longing for a mate of her own. Cain had informed her that she wouldn't be old enough' to take a mate for a while yet, but that didn't stop her from longing for the affection.

She sighed as she watched the couple before her.

They were beautiful together. They moved in perfect synchronization, rocked and groaning at the same time. She wondered at her own loss of modesty, but pushed it aside.

The two moved as one, and she longed for that same connection.

As the night progressed, she was invited to join in many threesome activities. She found herself joining in just to see what it would be like.

Night shifted to day and she finally made her way back to Cain's chambers, finding her memory to be much better than ever before. She lacked the want to chat with others, so instead she ignored the inquiries.

Cain was furious that she had left without notifying her guardian for the night, but her description of the nights events settled him. He praised her on her ability to join with other vampire so easily. She blossomed under the praise and went to sleep feeling better than she had all night. Shido bristled. He wasn't sure he could stand his mate giving praise to another.

He calmed, however, when he realized she wasn't trying to steal Cain away, she was simply learning. And he had to admit she was braver than he was at her age.

The mated pair climbed into bed beside the girl, waiting until sleep caught her before drifting off them selves.

In another part of the castle, a certain youkai seethed at the knowledge that his Kagome had taken so easily to allowing others to take her to their beds. Hatred filled his as the servant gossiped about the raven haired beauty that had compelled the notoriously chaste vampire between her legs.

He would have no more of this! Sesshoumaru left in an angry stalk, determined to find those that had bedded with her.

Okay, the next chapter should be the last chapter. Until then, Ja!
