Chapter III: The Ambush
Ok, so I typed all of this at the same time. I did it all on this really old computer in my room, so it took a while to get on the internet.
_______________________________________________________
Kagome walked from her last class. It was 5:56, and the sun set at 6:30. She wanted to see Inu-yasha again.
"Hey, Kagome!"
Kagome turned at hearing her name. A girl in her class, Sango came running up to her. "Hey!"
"Hi." Kagome wondered silently why this girl was talking to her.
"You know, I noticed how lonely you always look in class, and I was wondering if you needed any friends." Sango smiled at her sweetly.
"That sounds really nice, but I'm going to go meet one of my friends now. If you want to go get lunch after class tomorrow, that'd be great." Kagome didn't want to be late for meeting Inu-yasha, and she secretly wished Sango would leave her alone right now.
"Sure! I'll see you then!" Sango waved, and walked toward her waiting group of friends.
Kagome rolled her eyes, and kept walking. It took her nearly twenty minutes to get to the well-house, and she waited quietly on the stair. She was nearly asleep when she felt a presence next to her.
"Inu-yasha?" She looked around her, but it had gotten dark.
"I'm here." She looked in the direction of the voice and saw two glowing orbs, which were his eyes. "I also need to tell you something."
She looked where she thought he was.
"I've known the legend about this shrine, well, and tree my entire life. In fact, I am the legend."
"What do you mean?"
"There was once a priestess that ran this shrine. Her name was Kikyo. The legend goes that there was a Shikon no Tama, jewel of-"
"four souls."
"Yeah. Kikyo was supposed to be guarding this shikon jewel, purifying it."
"She fell in love with a Hanyou, they betrayed each other, and she pinned him to goh-shinboku with a purifying weapon." She said in monotone.
"How did you know?" She could tell he was looking at her.
"Mom made me learn about this shrine before I came here. She says that I was meant to live here, and how I was directly attached to the legend. In what way, I don't know."
"I do." He shuddered. "You are directly related to Kikyo. If the prophecy is true, you carry the power of the jewel with you."
"You're not- they never told me the name of the half-breed..." She stared intently into his amber pools of light.
"The hanyou was me. I fell in love with the beautiful miko, Kikyo when I was about 50 years old. I wanted the jewel. I wanted it so that I could become more powerful. Being only a half-breed, I got pushed around alot. My mother was killed by a youkai, this made me want to protect the ones I loved even more. After I was betrayed by the woman I loved, In'tn't believe in love and swore that I'd never let someone make me weak. To me, love was a weakness, a flaw. And until now, I had succeeded."
She looked at him. This is why she felt she had known him for so much longer than a couple days. He had said it subtly, he loved her. Did he love her, or this odd Kikyo character?
She felt him get up. For some reason, she could sense his presence, and she didn't want him to go. She felt safe, and she could trust him.
"Matte-" She got up, and reached out for him. Her fingertips brushed against what felt like his sleeve. She finally found his arm and took it.
"Don't leave me!" She whispered. She didn't know how the words had slipped from her lips. She found his warm chest, and snuggled into it, placing her arms around his waist. She smiled into him when she felt his strong arms hold her.
"I'll never leave you, my Kagome." He said, planting a kiss on her head. Then he was gone. She stood there, holding air where he had been. She blinked, and slowly made her way back to her home. She opened the door, and trudged up the stairs. She pulled off articles of clothing as she went, finally reaching her door. She slipped inside, and dressed into her bunny pajamas. She tucked herself into her bed, and fell into a restless sleep.

Inu-yasha felt the wind blow through his long silver locks, as he ran from rooftop to rooftop. He felt like he was running again. Running from what he feared. He wasn't fleeing from death, but from life. Her slight form had made an impression on him ng tng the last hug. He could still feel her warmth and innocence pressed against him. He took a large leap, and landed neatly in a large oak. He needed time to think, he needed time to decide who Kagome was. He wanted to break down, he wanted to cry.
Was she a gift from the gods to allow him to finish the relationship properly? Or was she a curse sent be the depths of hell to torment him into insanity? He was guessing on the latter. Kagome was probably that cute little angel that was always there, but unreachable. Her beautiful face was etched like the markings on a coin into his mind. Her tresses of long onyx hair, her beautiful, chestnut eyes that seemed to twinkle when she smiled. Her soft, pink lips that seemed to pout at him. The very lips that had tempted him into kissing her. Kagome wasn't just any girl, and she wasn't Kikyo. She was an Angel.

Kagome leapt out of her bed at the sign of her alarm, throwing on a pair of black velvet jeans and a shirt. She bolted downstairs, and grabbed cereal a bowl of cereal from the clutches of her little brother, Sota.
"Hey!!" he cried in protest, as she wolfed down the rest of his breakfast.
"Sorry!" she managed, with her mouth full of Frosted Flakes(c). She ran out the door, after kissing her mother on her cheek.
She ran from the house, pullihe bhe backpack strap onto her shoulder. She stopped to look up at the goh shinboku. The sacred tree seemed to smile at her. Her classes started at 10, and she hoped Inu-yasha would be nearby, which she suspected. Kagome sighed, and kept running head on, passing the well house.
A clawed hand reached out and caught her arm.
"Woah, where're you going?" He said, stepping out from the small hut.
"Oh! Inu-yasha! I was looking for you!" She paused to catch her breath. "My classes start at 10, want to go get some food, or go to your place?"
"Sure." He grinned, showing his fangs. He'd avoid a crash like last time. They set out for his apartment, chatting about clothes and people.
"You know a girl named Sango?" She asked. "She's in one of my classes." She smiled so sweetly at him.
"Never heard of her." he lied. He had slept with Sango while under the name of Josh. He fished in his pockets for his keys, and unlocked his door. She immediately sat in the old leather recliner, and took a beer for each of them.
"I love knowing you, Inu-yasha." she smiled at him. "I wish I knew a little more about my past, though." She stopped, and thought for a while.
"You're nothing like her," he said, "she was cold-hearted, and almost evil."
"What makes you think I'm warm-hearted?" she giggled, setting her beer down, and sitting next to him on the couch. "Was she sexy?" she almost burst out laughing, but she managed to keep her face straight.
He looked at her, his eyes worried. "I guess-"
"I can be sexy too, y'know!" she pouted, and gave him the puppy-dog look.
`I know only too well...' he thought. `maybe I'm just a bad influence.'
She wrapped her arm around his, and laid her head on his shoulder. She wanted to say it. She was in love, and she had fallen head over feet. He made her feel so at home, so alive. Something deep inside of her flinched, and a wave of pleasure swept through her. She was scared. Something had just happened. Something that she'd never felt before.
Inu-yasha's nose twitched. He could definitely smell her arousal, and it was turning him on. He promised he wouldn't ruin their friendship...
"Kagome...?"
"Yes?" she breathed out, tickling his neck.
"I can smell you. I don't want to do what I did yesterday." He was sheepish.
"I-I can't help it." she said choppily. "I-I-" She grabbed his face and
pressed her wet lips against his. They broke apart, and she looked away.
He sat there, stunned. She had never kissed him before, it was always the
other way around. Kagome looked into his eyes, and put her lips so close
that they barely touched. He licked her bottom lip gently.
"Go ahead, kiss me." he said huskily, and she complied, ramming her lips against his. She took his hair in her hands and pressed him closer as she explored his mouth with her tongue. His hands on her lower back, pressing her to him. His hands roamed, as did hers, as their kissing got more intense. His breng bng became hoarse, as she kissed his throat.
They were still sitting, and found their position quite uncomfortable. He lifted her hips and had her straddle him; she broke the kiss and gasped, as his hard length rubbed against her inner thigh. She didn't know she had this effect on him. She'd never been with a boy before, except Hojo. She wouldn't think about Hojo. Her resolve suddenly became clear, and she kissed Inu-yasha again to rid herself of the pain. It seemed to vanish completely when Inu-yasha began to buck against her hips, grinding his stiff manhood into the tender flesh of her thigh.
"Ughnn..." a guttural sound emitted from his throat. "Kagome..." He moaned her named, taking her hips, and moving her faster on him. She felt something begin to coil in her stomach, like a spring getting ready to release. She reached up, pushed off his hat and began to rub his ears between her thumb and fore finger.
"Ohh..." He grunted, burying his face in her neck. He bucked against her harder. As Inu-yasha rocked her, the coils seemed to turn, tightening into a knot.
"Inu-yasha..." she groaned out, as she ground against him. "Ohhh..."
He grinned. He was the one having this effect on her, he was the one causing pleasure. Inu-yasha could feel himself about to release. He wondered if he should just come in his pants.
Kagome threw her head back and arched her back. The coils and knots began to expload in her abdomen. It felt so good, she thought, as the dull pulsing in her intimate spot quned.ned.
She looked down when Inu-yasha groaned in pleasure. He had come in his pants. No big deal, he thought, he could always change later. She kissed him lightly on his lips, her arms on either side of his head.
"I had no idea," she panted. "it felt so good."
"I could make it feel even better." he retorted, grinning. He could feel the heat radiating off her core. She collapsed onto him, breathing hard. He wrapped his arms around her, and they laid down on the couch, together.
"I don't want to leave." Kagome murmured into his chest. "I don't ever want to leave."
"I won't make you." he grinned into her hair. Personally, he'd rather have her here anyway. She nuzzled his neck, and groaned in displeasure.
"But Inu, I promised Sango I'd meet her for lunch."
He bent his head low and nibbled on the place where the shoulder and the neck joined. The intake of breath that he heard couldn't stop him from biting down harder, drawing blood.
"Inu! What are you doing? That hurts!" She whined, trying to push herself away, and beginning to get up. She stopped when she heard a pleading whimper come from the depths of his throat.
"I'm tasting you." he said, licking the small pinpoints of a wound. "It'll heal over, don't worry."
She glanced at the small digital clock on the old wooden bedside table. It read 9:20. She wanted to stay, to be held... She had ten more minutes.
She sat up, and Inu-yasha sat up behind her. She was in deep, incoherent thought when she felt two arms wrap around her. Inu-yasha was sitting behind her, his legs on either side of her body, and his head nestled in the crook of her neck.
"I don't know what I'd do," he began. "If something happened to you." He licked the small pinpoints of blood again.
"Inu..." She leaned into his hard chest, and his arms tightened around her. "I- Inu? Am I Kikyo?" she asked, putting her arms around his, squeezing his hand. He nearly let go of her in his shock.
"What are you talking about?! You're nothing like her!" he said quickly, reassuring her.
"But no matter what you say... I can't help but feel like I'm here for a reason. Like I'm here to continue what you and Kikyo started five hundred years ago." She got up, and sat opposite from him on the recliner. "Tell me more about Kikyo, Inu-yasha." He looked away.
"She was cold." He said, shifting his weight uncomfortably. "She never loved me for who I was, but for who I was going to become."
"I'm sorry to hear that..." Kagome said, still in deep thought. "I- I can't say that I love you-" his heart seemed to drop to his stomach, "-just because I've only known you for a mere three days. Only, it feels so much longer."
"I feel like you were meant for me." He looked at her. "The way- the way you smile at me... the way your body fits against mine... I don't know what I'd do with out you, Kagome." he had taken her hand, and started rubbing it with his calloused thumb. She smiled so brightly at him, he felt his breath catch. She was an angel, no doubt. He continued. "A-and I want you to know that what ever I've done in the past, or what ever may happen in the future..." he trailed off.
The clock read 9:35, and Kagome had to be on her way. "Inu-yasha... I- I want to- I want to love you. Please, give it time." she got up, finishing the last of her beer. "I do have to go now, but I'll see you again tonight." He got up glumly and walked her to the door. She stood on her toes to plant a gentle kiss on his lips.
"Love you." was the last thing she said before waving and walking from his front-steps.
"Love you too..." he muttered after her, and went back inside to smoke a cig. He was definitely a changed man. It even amazed him how a girl could change him so much in three days. He hadn't slept with a single girl for four , wh, which was a record for him.
**********************************
Kagome beamed as she walked in the direction of her school. She smiled at passing busses, she smiled at dogs coming to sniff her shoes, and she smiled at a group of leering punky-looking boys. Her smile immediately faded, as she noticed they were leering at her. She glanced around nervously; the streets were deserted. She was still near to Inu-yasha's apartment. Maybe she could run back, he'd help her. She began to back
away, as the pack of boys inched nearer, talking fast in many languages
she didn't understand. When one reached out for her, she screamed, and ran.
Before she knew it, a boy had grabbed one of her arms.
"HELP!" she shrieked, hitting at the nearest boy, as the rest gathered around, pulling at her clothes and touching her. Her fear made her dizzy, as she attempted to get away. One boy hit her.
"Kohaku, don't bruise her pretty face!" One of them said in English, scolding the boy who had hit her. Her cheek throbbed, and she felt a coppery liquid slip over her tongue. She felt like she was going to be sick...
"INU-YASHA!!" she yelled, desperate. One of the boys laughed, and kissed her, while one other boy held her arms, another held her shoulders. Tears began to roll down her face.
`Please let him hear me!'
"INU-YASHA!!!" She bent her head back, and screamed with her soul. The boy hit her again, and she fell on the pavement, hitting her head hard on the asphalt with a crack. Stars danced in front of her eyes as the boy named Kohaku straddled her, and kissed her.
Her head throbbed, she wanted to die. She was going to be raped, just like with Hojo. Something flew past her eyes, before she felt herself go faint. Everything went black.
"Kagome!" Inu-yasha yelled over his shoulder at the unconscious Kagome, while fighting off all of the eight boys. `How dare they touch Kagome!'
"Who is that, Inu-yasha?" One of the boys taunted. "Your girlfrie-" he was cut off by a fist in the face. Inu-yasha rammed his fist into one of the boys' stomach. He spun around to find that the other boys were staring at him. He reached up to pat his head. No hat. He shrugged, and lunged at the neareunk.unk. To his glee, they fled.
"Corre!" The Hispanic punk called, as they helped the fallen boys to their feet.
Inu-yasha snarled at them, before turning his attention to Kagome. He strode over to her, and bent down, examining the bruises. Her left cheek had begun to swell, and blood was dribbling from the corner of her mouth. Her large t-shirt was torn. She was still as beautiful as ever, her eyes closed, and she had an almost serene look about her. Except for the fact that her eyebrows still formed a scowl. He bit his lower lip with his fangs, and damned his senses. If only he had gotten there quicker... if only. He sighed and easily lifted her limp form from the ground.
He carried her inside and propped her up on the couch. He brought a bowl of icewater and a cloth by her side, and dipped the cloth in the cold water. He gently dabbed her lips, clearing away the blood. She was still out cold. He swirled the rag in the water again, and spread it across her fore head. She stirred, groaning.
"Ughn." she groaned. "What-?" she tried to sit up, but a strong hand pushed her back down again. She blinked, and tried to focus hyes.yes. She winced as her head throbbed painfully.
"You were attacked, and I saved you." Inu-yasha said, brushing some stray hairs behind her ear. The swollen cheek had shrunk a bit, but was turning a sick shade of purple.
She was remembering now, how `Kohaku' had hit her, and kissed her.. and... A lump formed in the back of Kagome's throat. She laid herself gently back into the couch sighing, trying to dissipate the tears in her eyes.
"What's today?" Inu-yasha asked. Kagome's eyes snapped open, which caused her to flinch at the sudden light. Her head ached.
"Friday... October 2nd?" Kagome said, unsure.
"Good, who's the monkey that lives in a big, white buildin-"
"Bush." She said, before he could finish
"I think you'll be fine." he said conclusively. "You're going to stay here, with me." he said, matter-of-factly, crossing his arms over his chest.
"What?!" Kagome said loudly, sitting up, only to groan, and lay back down.
"You're in no condition to be walking around. Besides, your bruises look aweful, you should stay here until they become a little less prominant. Call your mother and tell her that you're staying with a friend over the weekend. When you get home, and she asks about the bruises, say `your friend' closed a door on your face by accident, and that it's no big deal." he concluded, sitting on the recliner. He grinned at her gaping jaw.
"I-I" she started. "I guess I c-could." she said, doubtfully.
"Well, call!" he said, cheerily, tossing her the phone.
"I- well- you-" she flustered, her face turning red, making her head hurt even more. "I'll call her when my head ache goes away."
He shrugged, and nodded, heading for his room. He hadn't changed his clothes yet from that lovely play, and it was annoying him. She watched him go to the room, wearily, and slumped into a perfect, soft, pillow. Her eyes fluttered closed and she only vaguely felt herself being lifted from the couch by two strong arms.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Kagome opened her eyes slowly, and found herself in a vaguely familiar atmosphere. She was lying in a bed, she noticed, and she was wearing nothing but her underwear and a large button-up shirt. This was Inu-yasha's room. She had been quite comfortable, asleep, so she flipped back over, to come face-to face with the golden eyed hanyou.
"Inu-yasha! Don't scare me like that!" she laughed, smacking him on the head.
"I heard you get up. It's 6:00, you might want to call your mom now." he handed her the phone, and she dialed her number slowly. He heard the other line ring a couple times before what sounded like her mother picked up.
"Mom?" Kagome said. She paused.
"I'm staying with a friend over the weekend, just didn't want you to worry- I'll be fine, mom." she said, and listened for a moment. "Hai… sayonara Okaa-san." she said in formal Japanese before hanging up, and flopping back into the feather-soft bed.
"You can stay?" he asked.
"Yeah. Damn, Inu-yasha! Where did you find this mattress?" she said, snuggling into the pillow and curling her legs up to her chest. She opened her eyes and looked at him. "You undressed me, hentai." she said, mock-coldly.
"They were ripped." he said, standing up. He had been kneeling beside the bed. "I'll be in with dinner, then we can get some sleep." He said, leaving the room.
When he was gone, she stopped hiding her blush. `What'd he mean, we?' He was back in no time with a steaming bowl of ramen. He walked slowly, as if not to spill, and placed to bowl on the bedside table.
He then turned to her, told her to close her eyes, and began to undress. He slipped off his blood-red t-shirt, and folowed by his baggy, red
cargo-pants. He pulled on a shirt similar to the one Kagome was wearing, and a pair of boxers
"You can look now," he said, tossing aside his dirty clothes. He slipped into bed beside her, and kissed her forehead. "Good night, wench." He muttered, before turning away from her, and closing his eyes. For hours, Kagome lay awake, watching the rise and fall of his back. Just like that first day at the library. She wanted to be held, she noticed. She
wanted to be warm, snug in Inu-yasha's arms, her back to his chest, his nose nuzzled into the crook of her neck. She could amlost feel his warm hands slipping under her shirt and tickling her with his claws.
She shivered, and as if Inu-yasha had been waiting for it, he turned to look at her.
"Cold?"
She shook her head, and blushed at his nearness.
"You look cold." he said. "You want me to keep you warm?"
She bowed her head, and studied the collar of her shirt. He took this as a yes, and snaked his arms around her waist, pulling her closer. Her face turned red, and she attempted to push him off her, but stopped when she felt something warm and wet sliding down her neck. He was licking her again.
She shivered again as Inu-yasha began to nibble on her ear affectionately. She wrapped her arms around him and said, "Good night, Inu."
"Good night, my pet." he muttered into her neck, kissing her tenderflesh again. That night, Kagome fell into the most comfortable sleep she had ever experienced.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Golden sunlight shone on her eyes, forcing her to sit up, and leave the peaceful realm of sleep. She opened her eyes, and looked around her. Inu-yasha wasn't in the bed, she noticed, but a wonderful smell was wafting from the `kitchen'. Her mouth watered. She forgot all about the ramen Inu-yasha had set out for her, and she was particularly hungry. She swung her long legs over the side of the bed, and stretched, revealing a good deal of ivory skin for Inu-yasha to savor. She had not noticed yet that he was standing in the corner of the room, watching her. He was wearing an exceptionally large t-shirt, and a pair of black cotton Pajama pants.
"You look hungry, Kagome-chan." he said lovingly.
She jumped. "Oh, Inu, I didn't see you." sheled led at him. He felt his brain leak from his ears and his heart turn to goo. Her smile was like a drug. The more you saw it, the more effect it had on you.
"Yeah, actually, I am." she said, yawning. "I forgot all about the soup. How does my face look?"
"You look fine." he said truthfully. Her bruise had turned a sort of brownish color, which meant it was healing already. She eyed him skeptically.
"You're lying." she said, peering into the mirror on the back side of the door. Her bruise had, indeed, faded to almost nothing. "I guess I've always healed faster than most people..." she said, tapping her nose with a finger. She remembered that one time when she broke her arm in half and it had healed two weeks before the doctor predicted.
"You're a mystery, Kagome." Inu-yasha grinned, flashing his fangs. "Lets eat, I'm ravenous." She smiled, pulled on a pair of grey boxers he handed her, and followed him into his makeshift kitchen. There were pots and pans discarded in every place thinkable, one hanging on the coat rack, one hanging over a picture frame, and she even noticed one in the freezer when he went to retrieve the bread. She sat in the leather recliner, and
reached for the fridge. She felt a clawed hand slap hers, and she looked up at him through her chocolate eyes.
"No drinking in the morning, it can really ruin your appetite." He said, jokingly, waving a clawed finger through the air.
"Shut up." she said, ignoring him, and diving for the refrigerator handle. She abruptly stopped when He stood in front of the small white rectangle.
"I said not to ruin your appetite." He growled at her, narrowing his golden eyes to slits.
"But Inu..."she pouted at him, and draped her arms over the arm of the chair. "I'm hungry."
He knealt down infront of her, thier noses barely touching. "Just tightight, honey." he whispered against her lips, gazing into her eyes. He smirked when she blushed magenta. He shot up abruptly, and began to buisy himself with eggs, bacon, and toast. After the timer buzzed annoyingly, Inu-yasha got up, threw the meal onto a plate, and ushered her beside him on the couch. They both ate in silence. Probably because one of them might
of choked if they tried communicating.
After Inu-yasha had finished his portion in record time, he watched in amazement as Kagome shoveled what was left into her mouth.
"This is really good!" she said with her mouth full of toast. "The bacon is delicious." she said, swallowing the last piece whole. She laid back against the couch, sighing. She hadn't ate like that for ages.
He picked up the plate, grinning, and put it back into the small sink.
"You're allowed to drink now." he said, turning towards her. She had fallen asleep. He crept closer and examined her features. Her cheeks were pink, her lashes were thick, and her soft pink lips were softly parted. Her head had fallen on her shoulder, exposing the delicate skin of her neck. Her raven hair had been brushed gently to her side, thick and gleaming in the dim light of morning. He sat beside her and let his eyes slide down to her
perfect breasts, and the well toned stomach beneath the shirt he gave her.
He noticed his mouth had become dry, and he swallowed. Some how, she seemed more than human. He crept closer, and scooped her into his arms. Her head lolled back, and her soft skin seemed more inviting than ever. He walked slowly to his room, and placed her on his bed.
As he began to get up, he felt small hands clutch his collar. He heard her wimper, as her hands unclutched to his shirt and hugged his waist.
She tossed in her sleep, and muttered something that shook him to his toes.
"Why did you betray me, Inu-yasha?" she murmured, and sighed. "Don't leave..." her arms tightened around him. "...me."
He looked at her moments before she shot up, her head hitting his. He clutched his aching head before he stared, wide-eyed at Kagome. Her arms were flailing, her hands reaching, gripping something. Her face slack, she reached out for something, someone.
"Inu!" she cried in her sleep. She was terrified. "Don't leave me, Inu! Where are you?!" she stretched her arms out until her fingertips brushed against his lips. She shuddered and collapsed onto the bed, asleep.
He blinked, still clutching his head. He gaped. `What the hell was that?' he thought, the grip on his head tightening. `Only Kikyo said anything about betrayal.' He lowered himself beside Kagome, and stared at the ceiling. He took some time to catch his breath, and settle down. He closed his eyes, and thought hard about what had just happened. Maybe Kagome is more directly related to him than he thought. He jumped when a small arm draped over his chest.
"Inu." He heard Kagome sigh.
He flipped on his side, and held Kagome in a one-armed embrace. How could such a common girl have such an effect on him? He didn't know or seem to care.

*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*
