Part Four

The final bell for the end of history class rang. Strangely, Kagome was still sitting at her desk staring off into space. Everyone else had rushed out of the room into the hallway already. Her history teacher, Mr. Ray, gave her a quizzical look from his desk. He had just finished packing up his briefcase and was ready to lock up.

“Anything wrong, Miss Higurashi?” He asked lifting a gray eyebrow. These teenagers were so overly dramatic. Hopefully she would say no so that he could be on his way. Besides, he had no idea what to say to these hormone driven kids! He was not a counselor after all!

Kagome started and looked up from her seat when he addressed her. Flushing, she stammered nervously and apologized.

“Sorry, Mr. Ray! I guess I was just day dreaming!” She jumped up out of her seat ignoring his condescending smile and nod. Then she grabbed her yellow book bag and headed outside. Behind her, she heard him wish her a good day but she didn’t bother to reply to him. He was a crusty old bachelor and didn’t care much for teenagers anyway.

All day long Kagome had been dreading 3pm. But what could she do? She’d been trying to think of ways to get around the meeting with Inuyasha but to no avail. A beep and flicker momentarily distracted her and she paused and glanced down at her wrist.

Her watch shimmered ultra-violet blue to herald the lunch hour. It would be good to see Sango and Rin at their usual table along with Takeda, Hojo and the others. But how could she sit with her boyfriend, looking into his intense loyal brown eyes knowing what was planned? Aware that she was partially naked underneath her clothes for another boy? It was wrong and she felt dirty but…

No, she did NOT want to examine her other feelings.

The only other good thing about her day was that she had managed to avoid Inuyasha thus far, but she could not dodge time. Which meant her luck was running out in more ways than one. Kagome had the feeling she had not run into him because that was what HE wanted or planned. It was some kind of sick, sadistic mind game he was playing with her.

The worst part was that all day long she could feel how exposed she was underneath her skirt. She was vulnerable.

The drifts of air would swoosh under her clothing, touching her bare bottom cheeks, swirling along her crevice, the silken folds and the satiny opening of her moist heat. Her little button would swell at the naughty thoughts racing through her mind and it was then she hoped that Inuyasha would punish her. She deserved it for having such nasty thoughts and feelings.

NO! She silently screamed, walking faster towards the lunchroom. She had to submerge these feelings. But who knew for how long he would blackmail her? Until he had destroyed her completely? Of just until he was tired of the game?

“Higurashi?”

She nearly stumbled and fell at the sound of her name. She turned to see Hojo staring at her with a worried expression upon his face.

“Are you all right?”

Kagome blushed a light rose. Ah Kami! If only he knew!

“Y-yes Hojo-kun. Were you on your way to the lunchroom?”

“Yes. I was hoping I would see you.” He looked embarrassed. “I wanted to apologize for the other night. I was stranded on the expressway and my cell phone went dead. Unfortunately, I had no way of contacting anyone because I didn’t make it home until late. Your mother was worried when you didn’t come home from the school last night.”

Hojo stopped and took her by the hand looking into her eyes with a soulful expression.

“Gomen nasai. Please forgive me, Higurashi. It will NEVER happen again. I’ve been trying to call you all morning but you haven’t answered your phone. I left you several voice mail messages asking for your forgiveness.”

Kagome swallowed hard. What could she do but forgive him? There was no way she could admit to what had actually happened to her.

“Anno…Hojo it’s okay. I got home safe enough. It wasn’t your fault. Honto.”

“I don’t deserve someone as wonderful as you, Kagome.”

Kagome didn’t have a reply to this, just offered him a weak smile as they strolled together through the hall under the prying eyes of the other students. She felt different walking with her boyfriend, pantie-less and less-

Well a bit less pure.

There was a low level of commotion coming from somewhere further up the hallway as they got closer and closer the lunchroom. The chattering grew more intense as they walked until she discovered the cause of the fuss.

The Fangs were gathered around in the hallway, situated to the left at the entrance of the lunchroom near the emergency exit doors.

Miroku was grinning and looking down the blouse of a curvaceous girl who kept giggling every time he spoke to her. Shippou was flipping through a motorcycle racing book with a great deal of nervous energy. A boy with acid pink-red hair was arguing with another boy with sun orange-yellow hair. Their leader, Inuyasha, was wearing dark shades and ignoring everyone around him. He was leaning up against the wall and listening to his headphones.

Kagome almost froze there on the spot. Hojo gave her an odd look but kept walking, tugging on her hand a bit. She was counting the minutes praying that he would not look up and notice her. Her heart was drumming loudly in her chest as they passed The Fangs.

As they crossed the threshold of the cafeteria, the voices of the onlookers got louder. She sensed Inuyasha’s eyes on her and it felt like intense heat touching the back of her head down to her shoulders and lower still. She had worn her thickest short skirt but his golden eyes seemed to penetrate her through the material anyway.

Kagome knew that she dared not look back. She kept going, following Hojo until she reached the safe haven of the table. As always, he held her chair out for her with a smile and she sat down carefully, tucking her skirt beneath her.

All her friends were gathered there smiling and greeting her and Hojo. The conversations resumed once they had settled. Kagome declined lunch because she was too upset to eat. Hojo never talked while he ate. That gave her free time to study everyone.

Sango was sitting with her boyfriend, Kuranosuke Takeda. Rin was chatting with their friends Justin, Cheryl and Jun. Justin was muscular and stocky with close-cropped hair. He was the captain of the wrestling team and had already been nominated for several scholarships. What stunned Kagome was that he also had a strong interest in mystical studies. Cheryl was a high-ranking scholar and multi-linguist. Petite and slender, she had smooth coppery-brown skin and cinnamon colored curly hair and russet eyes. Her father was a highly successful American who’d opened a multi-billion dollar business that had dealings with countries all over the globe. Kagome liked her for her exotic beauty, intelligence and poised sophistication.

Jun was the enigma of their group.

Taller than most, Jun had once belonged to The Assassins. Kagome never felt comfortable around him. Everyone in The Assassins was aloof; Jun being no exception.

His hair was so silky black and straight that you could see purple highlights in it. Jun’s eyes were also black, like marbles or onyx. In contrast, his skin was ivory and his lashes and brows looked false because they were so dark against the paleness. The contours of his face were a work of art. The only other guy Kagome had seen who was as ethereally lovely was Sesshoumaru. Jun had a more sensuous quality to his beauty. For instance, Sesshoumaru’s mouth was classic in lines and slenderness, whereas Jun’s was full and a natural deep red.

However, there were similarities that he did share with the leader of The Assassins: he never, if rarely, smiled.

“Kagome, I wanted you to sit with me today,” Sango called happily. “I know Hojo and Kuranosuke don’t mind switching places.” She elbowed Takeda, forcing him to move over.

Kagome wasn’t sure how she felt about the arrangement but if Kuranosuke didn’t mind, she didn’t. Hojo as usual was perfect and had no problem with the seating change. Sango had been acting weird lately.

No sooner had she sat down again when Sango whispered up close to her ear while reaching for her water, “I need to talk to you later. It’s serious.”

Kagome merely nodded and lunch was uneventful as always. That is until The Assassins arrived to sit down at their own ‘assigned’ table.

Tammy: It IS fun to be wicked. Thank you. Keep reading cuz there is a bit of a twist as far as Dog Boy’s “life” and the other “clubs”. This is h.s. with AU world. As for your questions, well, nothing in this universe I have created is as it appears to be. This school is kinda “Volcano High” -ish. And that is ALL I’m saying cuz I just gave away too much already! Thank you again for 2

LadyCatBailey:I really enjoyed reading your review! Wow! Anime is OUR life (lol) espec. when it’s Inuyasha. Yes, you are smart. But then…she is scared of him b/c she has been sheltered, and he is blackmailing her, too. She can’t predict him. I think Naraku might like your discipline too much.

WolfBite: Thank you so much. I’m glad you like it! Hope you won’t be disappointed by the answers.

SilverFox: You think? He’s ornery anyway. However, I think he IS attracted to her it is just an excuse to get his wicked way. Another good writer. Check out her story “Sesshoumaru Meets His Match”. I read this story on MM.org first.
