Lady Sethia: Thank you so much for the woderful compliment. yeah i know drugs is a big thing. i almost didn't even write this fic, since i was really into drugs. coke, acid, shards, you name it i did it. except for heroin.
but even thought i knew all the horrible shit that was happing to my body, i still didn't care. not until almost 4 years ago, a very dear friend of mine die because of it. he shot up a bunch of heroin and had an od. even though he knew what he was doing and he wanted to die.
it woke me up. yeah so drugs are bad! don't do them. i still fall off the wagon sometimes. so all who read this. please value your life and stay away from it.

I forgot to mention it before but:

“I wanted a substitute” Kagome said bowing her head down in shame. The rest of the group gave her a questioning look. Kagome sighed as she felt a slight bit of pressure on her forehead.

She ignored the feeling, and continued. “I felt completely empty…I felt like shit!” She said while laughing sadly. Inuyasha remained quiet and waited for her to go on.

Kagome still kept her gaze on the wooden floor, feeling unable to look at her friends, as she began to tell the whole story.

“It all started when I got back home from that huge argument with Inuyasha…I was beyond angry, and I felt horrible for it. What I did tell you about my cousin was the truth, she did visit. In fact she was the one that gave me the coke, or as you guys know it as cocaine” Kagome was about to carrying on, but heard a growl come from Inuyasha.

“Please Inuyasha, its no where near Nikky’s fault, I’m the one who made the choice, she never forced me to do anything” She said in a slightly defensive tone. Inuyasha wanted to object, but Shippou voice was quicker.

“Kagome? What’s cocaine?” The Kitsune said innocently, while approaching her. Kagome smiled slightly and picked up Shippou, placing him on her lap. She pushed his orange hair to one side and spoke.

“That white powder stuff that Inuyasha just threw into the fire, it’s a drug…” Kagome was then cut off by the over egger kitsune. “You mean like the plants Kaede uses to help heal humans?”

Kagome looked at the other three for help, but then realized they were all listening to her intently. ‘Crap, if only Nikky were here to help explain’ Kagome thought quickly and went on.

“No, cocaine is not a healer, even though people, including myself, thought it could. But it only makes everything harder in the long run” Shippou nodded, even though he really didn’t understand.

“Kagome, if you knew what it would do to you, then why did you still take it?” Sango asked, her tears long dried up now. Kagome blushed slightly. She didn’t want to tell them, especially Inuyasha, that her heartache over Inuyasha and Kikyou was what drove her over the edge.

So she told him the next best thing. “Like I said…I felt empty, and believed that coke would be able to fill it” Sango nodded, and took a seat on the floor, hoping for Kagome to continue.

However before Kagome could even attempt to, she was interrupted. “But what was it that made you feel so empty?” Miroku said in a voice that said he really didn’t need the answer, just the reaction to prove if his thoughts are accurate.

Inuyasha looked at Kagome, his interest rising even more with that question. “I’m really not ready to discus that yet, if that’s all right” Kagome said, though not looking at the monk, but at Inuyasha.

Miroku nodded, not pressing on about it, yet. Inuyasha who had been silent during the confession, finally spoke. “Listen women, you will never be using that stuff again, you hear me, not ever” Inuyasha said in a threatening tone.

Kagome opened her mouth to speak, but shut it as the hanyou continued. “I’m going to protect you, I’ve already failed once, but not again, I will protect you by any means, and when I say you, I mean YOU! Kagome, I’ll protect you, not anyone else” He said, and then added a famous ’Feh’ when everyone gawked at him.

Shippou had been so shocked, he had fallen out of Kagome’s lap. Kagome gave the kitsune a pitiful smile, then looked up at Inuyasha, who was giving her a slight smile. She smiled back, but then it soon faded.

She then looked back down at the floor and sighed. “what’s wrong Kag?” Sango said with worry written all over her voice. Kagome, feeling enough courage, went on.

“There is one more side effect” She said sadly. “Which is?” Inuyasha asked, sounding a lot more irritable then he actually was. “I’m going to get sick, its called withdrawal. I will be in a lot of pain, and its unavoidable” Kagome said, added last part as Inuyasha lightly growled.

She rolled her eyes at the hanyou and then went on. “Even thought I will be in a lot of pain, it will subside, I just need you guys to help me get through it” She said sounding even more sad.

She felt awful asking her friends to be put in this position. “Oh Kag, you know we’re all here for you” Sango said smiling brightly. “Yea, we’ll do what ever it takes to make you better” Shippou said, as he bounced back onto Kagome lap.

The room was suddenly quiet. No one knew what to say after all that had just happen. Inuyasha though, personally liked the silence. But like some great things, it came to an end.

“YOU GOD DAMN HENTAI!” Sango yelled, and slapped Miroku across the face. “I’m sorry Sango, I was just trying to lighten the mood.” Miroku said while rubbing his cheek.

“BY GRABBING MY ASS!” She yelled. Kagome tried, but couldn’t contain her laughter. She let out a long needed, real laugh.

Once she had started, everyone else was laughing, excluding Sango. “See my lovely, it worked” Miroku said between a fit of laughter. Sango attempted to continue to glare, but let go and joined into the relief of laughter.

“Oh come on Sango I’ve been in here long enough! Please let me out. I promise I’ll be under control!” Kagome yelled through the window, from inside of Kaede’s hut.

“Sorry Kag no can do, you almost killed Miroku after he grabbed at you!” Sango yelled back. ’Even though now I kinda wish you succeeded’ The daemon exterminator thought silently.

“But I’ve been here for hours! I fucking want out NOW!” Kagome screamed as she hit the wall. “I’m really sorry but you said no matter how much you begged, screamed, or threatened we will not let you out until its over” Sango yelled still trying to look out for Inuyasha and Shippou.

’Damnit! What’s taking so long, its their turn to watch her! I really hope they come soon, Miroku is starting to annoy me’ Sango thoughts were soon interrupted.

“I was high then!” Kagome screamed, this time kicking what sounded like the kettle. “OW!” Sango smiled in spite of the situation. Kagome’s screams soon dies off as Sango spotted the two soon to be babysitters.

“Oi, its time to switch” Inuyasha said, while Shippou was sglingling behind the hanyou, do to all the food he was carrying. “Inu…yasha! Help me!” Shippou pleaded, trying helplessly not to fall over.

However, Inuyasha ignored Shippou and made his way to where Miroku was guarding the barricaded door. “Sometimes he can act even more childish, believe it or not” Sango sighed as she helped Shippou.

“I don’t mind so much in this case, he’s just really worried about Kagome. Its kinda funny, he’s so worried he hasn’t been into hiding his feelings that much” Shippou said happily.

“He hasn’t even slept once sense the beginning of this, opps, I would like to talk about this more but I better start patrolling the window before Inuyasha kills me…half of this food is for you and Miroku” Sango nodded, and with a short wave she walked to the other side of the house to find Miroku.

After a couple of hours, a familiar hanyou was fighting to stay awake. ’Fuck! Why didn’t I just sleep while I had the chance!’ Inuyasha’s mind screamed. ’Because I don’t trust anyone else protecting my Kagome’ Inuyasha’s subconscious answered back.

’WHAT! I need to stop thinking things like that! Damn it, WHY?!’ He screamed inwardly, while trying to find a more comfortable position. ’probably because…:yawn:…I lo..’ Inuyasha’s eyes grew wide as he caught himself.

’I…:yawn:…need to stop…:yawn:…thinking about that wench…:yawn:…its putting me to slee…(AN: out of comfort not boredom) were Inuyasha’s last thoughts, as he fell into a very needed slumber.

Meanwhile inside the hut. Kagome sat on the floor with her legs spread out. There was a large patch of inflamed skin on her right leg.

She had started to pick at the very few freckles the sun had given her on her arm. She suddenly stopped when her gaze fell upon her right leg. “Damn it! What is it with this fly!” Kagome yelled at her, bug free, red leg.

She then began to rake her nails against the inflamed area, causing it to open up and bleed. Once she felt the blood on her hand, she brought it up toward her face and stared at it in a daze.

She stayed that way for a few moments until a serge of pain hit her stomach. She bit down on her lip, trying to hold back a scream. ’NO! NOT AGAIN!’ She thought while gasping for air.

“Hey Kagome, I have some food if your hungry” Shippou said while putting a bowl on the window sill. Kagome quickly got up, although automatically regretted it as pain filled her, and made her way to the window.

Kagome grabbed the bowl and threw it over Shippou’s head. Shippou’s eyes grew wide as the contents of the bowl spilled over.

Back inside, Kagome fumed, as she realized a perfect plan to escape. But the only problem was convincing the little kitsune. ’Only one way to find out’ She thought as she made her was to the window.

“Hey Shippou, I’m so sorry, I’m not hungut iut its really hot in here…could I have some water from the river?” She asked sweetly. Even through the pain, she was able to put up a great performance.

Soon Shippou said yes and left toward the river leaving a very happy Kagome behind. Once she was sure the kitsune was gone, Kagome made her way out of the hut. Despite all the pain, she ran as fast as she could to the well.

Kagome pushed the numbers as quickly as she could. She looked at the clock tower that was across the street from the payphone, where she was at. It was already two in the morning! ’please be awake!’ Kagome’s mind screamed, as the phone continued to ring.

’Fuck! Their crack heads, they must be up’ And as soon as that thought ended she heard a low male voice. “Hello?” Kagome sighed in relief. “Is Jade there?” She asked quickly, while trying to hold back tears of pain.

“No he’s not, may I ask who’s calling?” Kagome then yelled in frustration. “Hey I know that scream, is that you Kagome?” Kagome smiled despite her situation.

“Yeah Luke, its me, listen I need more shit, I’m really sick again” She said while gasping for air. “What happen to what I gave you?” Luke said in his usual calm tone. “Lets make a long story short, I tried to quit” She said in a near-yelling voice.

“Please just meet me at the payphone in front of the mall” Kagome said, and then bit down on her lip again. This time she bit down so hard she drew blood.

“I’ll be their in about five” Luke said quickly and then hung up the phone. Kagome placed the phone back, and slid down the payphone glass wall. She hit the floor fast, while clutching onto her stomach.

“WAKE UP!” Shippou yelled into Inuyasha’s ears. Inuyasha jolted up, placing his hands over his ears. “Oi, runt, what is it?” Inuyasha said while rubbing his abused ears.

“Kagome asked me to get her some water, so I did, then I’m standing outside the window calling for her. I was waiting for fifteen minutes. I thought she might have fallen asleep, but when I looked inside…”

Shippou cut himself off, fearing the hanyou’s reaction. “don’t waste my time” Inuyasha warned glaring. “She’s gone” Shippou said as low as possible, but of course with Inuyasha’s dog ears, he was able to pick it up.

“WHAT?!” The hanyou yelled. Shippou was about to try to explain, but Inuyasha cut him off. “Runt, you better hide, cause when I come back with Kagome, you’re dead” He said in a deathly calm voice. Shippou’s watched, eyes widen in fear, as the hanyou dashed off running.

“Here I’ll give it to you in the alley behind the mall” Luke said calmly as Kagome clutched onto his arm trying to dim the pain. “Alright” Kagome managed to push out without screaming.

Other then Kagome’s gasps and whimper, they remained silent while walking into the alley. Once they got to a spot Luke thought was decent enough, he pulled off his backpack.

Kagome looked around at her surroundings. “Are you sure its safe here?” She said, while still looking from one side to the other. “You’re just being paranoid, now give me your arm” Luke said, his voice becoming a little frantic.

Kagome nodded and pulled off her jacket. “Hurry its fucking clod” Kagome said still looking to every direction. Within ten seconds she was feeling a lot better.

“Thank you so much” She said as she placed her head against the brick wall. “So…now that I gave you yours, you must give me mine” Luke said in a slightly demanding tone.

“Oh, I didn’t bring any money, shit. Well we can go back to my place. I can get you your money there” She said and attempted to walk out the alley, but then Luke grabbed her tightly and pined her to the wall roughly.

“I’m not talking about money bitch” Luke said, now all calm leaving his voice, and being replaced with determination. “What?” Was the only thing Kagome could mutter out, as she tried to struggle against him.

“Oh, you must be a virgin, oh goody” He said and then licked her neck. “You fucking prick, you gave me this shit so you could handle me easier, didn’t you!” Kagome yelled.

“SOMEONE! HELP!” She continued to yell, but then was silenced when she felt Luke’s fist collide with her face. “SHUT UP BITCH! I have no problem with pumping you with more of this shit, it would look like an overdose” Luke said viciously, as he pushed her down on the hard wet cement.

Her head collided with the cement, and her vision started to blur. She heard the sound of what sounded like a switchblade. She whimpered in fright as her vision became more clearer.

As she was backing away, Luke let out a yell of frustration and kicked Kagome’s rib cage. Kagome screamed, curling up into a fetal position.

Her vision had finally cleared as she watched in horror as Luke took his blade and slashed her shirt open. He had done it so carelessly he had cut Kagome in the process.

“You ass! Why are you doing this! HELP!” She screamed at the top of her lungs. She closed her eyes hoping it was just all a dream.

“FUCK YOU!” Luke yelled in shock?!…Kagome was expecting another attack on her face but was surprised to feel his weight lighten. In fact she felt no weight on her at all. When she finally got enough courage, she opened her eyes and felt shock and happiness fill her.

Inuyasha was towering over a defenseless Luke. But before she could even call out, she felt as thought she was going to puke, and then everything went black.

Meanwhile, only two feet away, Inuyasha had managed to grab Luke’s weapon and knock him on his ass. Inuyasha was filled with so much rage he couldn’t even say a word.

“What the fuck are you?” Luke yelled and was now the one who was yelling for help. As Inuyasha approached Luke, Luke noticed that Kagome was having a seizure. “Heh, looks like the bitch is going to die this time” Luke spat out.

Inuyasha’s heart filled with fear at the sight. The hanyou then ran to her side, trying to calm her down. “you know you shouldn’t try to hold anyone while their going through a seizure, you might just brake one of her fragile little bones” Luke laughed out, pulling himself up.

At that moment Inuyasha finally found his voice. “What the fuck did you do to her!” He yelled, as he flashed his claws in a threatening manner. However, Luke didn’t speak.

“If you don’t tell me in five seconds you will feel the wrath of my claws!” Luke’s eyes bulged out, and began to backed away slowly. “I guess I gave her a little to much heroin” He said in a quick tone.

“The whore is as good as gone” He then added more confidently now. Inuyasha easily pushed Luke down, and gave him a hard kick in his jaw.

Inuyasha soon turned away from Luke’s unconscious form, to Kagome’s. She too was now laying motionless.

Inuyasha quickly picked up her very light form and ran as fast as his demonic powers would allow him. There was only one place he knew where to go now.

’hold on Kag, oh god please don’t leave me. Not now that I have finally figured everything out!’

“Inuyasha! OH MY GOD! What happen to Kagome?!” Mrs. Higurashi cried out in shock. “No time to explain everything, some guy said he pumped her to much with heroin”

When Inuyasha could smell the salty tears Kagome’s mom was omitting, he knew it was a lot more worse then he thought. “We need to get her to the hospital! Take the hat on the table, we need to go now!” She yelled grabbing her car keys.

(AN: I wanted to have Kag’s mom ride on Inuyasha’s back, but then I remembered he has no idea where the hospital is)

Inuyasha watched Kagome’s sleeping figure from the side of the hospital bed. He gently pushed away the hair that had fallen across her face.

“Stay with me please…I…I need you…I can’t believe I failed again…I said I was going to protect you…and now look at you…how can I be so fucking blind…why did this have to happen to make me realize that…that…I love you” Inuyasha said lightly.

“don’t worry, she’ll be fine” Mrs. Higurashi said gently. Inuyasha blushed heavily as she made her way to the other side of the bed.

“Inuyasha…what happened to my daughter?” She had managed to say in a soft voice, trying to hold back any tears that threaten to escape.

Unusually Inuyasha hated crying, but at this moment he had already shed quite a few tears. His amber eyes bloodshot.

“I don’t know the whole story, I think it would be better if we wait for Kagome to wake up” He said quietly, as he placed his hand in Kagome’s.

He was soon shocked to feel her squeeze his hand. He couldn’t help but smile. ’god I hope Kagome’s mom isn’t watching’ He thought, but then decided he didn’t care as she squeezed his had more tightly.

But as soon as his smile appeared, it quickly left as a loud non-ending tone sprung from the machine next to Kagome. Inuyasha let go over her hand and covered his ears.

“Oh no! Nurse! NURSE!” Mrs. Higurashi yelled and ran out of the room. “What’s going on!” Inuyasha demanded, but then he was soon answered when he looked back at Kagome, who was going through another seizure.

“NO! DON’T FUCKING DO THIS TO ME!” Inuyasha yelled as he ran over to Kagome’s side. Inuyasha was then soon pushed aside by four people in white coats.

“Oh no, were losing her! We need to get her out of this room and bag her! Get the paddles ready just in case!” A women with short brown hair said.

The other three did as they were told. “Wait what’s going on, where are you taking her!” Inuyasha yelled at the women.

“Sir please, just sit back, well get her stable again” Inuyasha was taken back at how her voice could change from being so hectic to so soothing. And instead of arguing he decided to trust in this women.
