“SESSHOUMARU!” Inu Yasha cried as he looked at Meishou. She looked at him with her ears in the pained position.
“What about him?” Kagome asked as she walked up next to them and Meishou blushed.
“That lying bastard is my cousin and the slayer of my Father,” Meishou’s claws began to glow in a light blue light. “He is why I will become a full demon, so I can defeat him, returning the title of the Wolf Clan to my Father’s line, and to burn down the Western Lands!” With that her hand hit the nearest tree, melting right through it.
“Did…she say…Sesshoumaru is her cousin?” Sango asked as she started at the wolf hanyou.
“Yea…” Inu Yasha whispered as he stared at her.
“So you are Inu Yasha’s cousin as well?” Miroku asked and Meishou’s eyes widened as she looked at Inu Yasha.
“Why would I share blood with Inu Yasha?” she asked her eyes suddenly becoming suspicious as she looked between them.
“Inu Yasha is Sesshoumaru’s younger, half-brother,” Kagome said and stepped between the two hanyou. Meishou’s eyes widened more as she stepped back.
“No…you…you’re an heir of the Inu Clan of the West!” her fangs were bared as she stared at him in her hatred. “You are the brother of that murderer!” Suddenly Inu Yasha was being suspended in the air by Meishou, her eyes flashing red as the jewel fragment in her head flashed blue. “Who is your shared parent? Whose blood runs through your veins? The just Lord Who Sired a Monster? Or the Traitorous Bitch?”
“My Father was the Lord!” Inu Yasha gasped and suddenly Meishou dropped him and fell to her knees. She was sobbing.
“I’m…I’m sorry,” she whispered. “I…I should have been more rational.”
“Now what was this all about?” Miroku asked and Meishou got up and walked towards the trees staring out into the forest.
“Come this way, it’s only a half a day’s walk,” she whispered as she looked at them.

~*~*~*~*~ A Half Day’s Journey in Silence Later ~*~*~*~*~

They stood in the remains of a village, long since abandoned after what had been a terrible battle. Meishou walked through it, walking through a few skeletons, soon enough they reached a beautiful garden of flowers, it had once been a house, clearly burned. In front of the house were three small shrines, a marker for each of the dead.
“This was my home,” Meishou said as she gently stroked the shrine decorated in cherry blossoms. “My Father, my Mother, my brothers, and I, we lived here, laughed, loved, spend the night learning the stories of the stars. We were happy.” She looked at them all before walking to a nearby tree and leaning against it. “My father was the Wolf Prince of the Western Wolf Clan, he was the younger brother and only heir. His older sister thought she would be the heir to the Wolf Clan even after her marriage to the Great Lord of the Western Lands. When my Father was born she lost her inheritance and hated it. Soon after my father became a young man, older than Shippo now is, but younger than I am, my cousin, Sesshoumaru, was born. My aunt constantly turned her son against her brother. Eventually she died and her husband remarried, but the hatred of humans and my father would remain with her son. I guess you would be the half-breed son whom I have no relation, Inu Yasha, my father did not even know your name. Not that it matters, your father died and left the Western Lands to Sesshoumaru. You vanished one day and Sesshoumaru launched his attack on my father, claiming my father had attempted to kill him. My father would do no such thing, but the Great and Merciful Sesshoumaru, allowed my father to live in exile.” She gently scratched the tree trunk and the group noticed hundreds of claw marks in the tree.
“My father came here, to all places, he went to the pub to eat before heading onward, but he fell in love with the barmaid. Within a year they were married. Within two more they were birthing their first son. The fall of my tenth winter my father went out for a long hunting trip, he never returned. In the spring we got news that he had been slain by Sesshoumaru for trespassing. When the villagers brought us the news they threw stones and a few weapons. Either way, both of my brothers were wounded so I volunteered to go hunt something for dinner. While I was out a traveling miko stopped and painted sutras on the walls of my home as the men of the village nailed the doors shut,” Meishou’s eyes were glazed over as she relived that night. “I came back in time to smell their flesh burn…to hear their dying screams…and to see the mob turn on me. I don’t remember much, just that when I awoke three days later, the village was burnt to the ground and not a single man, woman, or child was alive. I swore that morning when my senses returned to me, I would become a full blooded demon and get my revenge. I would destroy the one who had brought so much pain into my life. I would take the life of Sesshoumaru and I would do it smiling.” She bowed her head as she looked around her.
“I’m so sorry for you, Meishou,” Kagome said and Meishou looked at her.
“It was not your fault,” she said as she got up. “I…I would like to be alone for a bit…if you don’t mind.” With that she hopped away.
“Inu Yasha,” Kagome stated. He looked at her and then at the expecting look from the others.
“What?” he asked, already knowing the answer but wanting to be difficult.
“Go after her,” Miroku said as he bopped him on the head with his staff.
“Why should I?” Inu Yasha snarled. Kagome stepped in front of him and placed her hands on his shoulders.
“Inu Yasha, we can’t help her right now, we’re human, we don’t know the pain she’s been through, you do,” Kagome said as she looked him in the eyes. “You’re the only one she can relate to, you both grew up the same, she needs you, Inu Yasha, not us.” Inu Yasha sighed as he bounced off after Meishou.
“You think he’ll help?” Sango asked.
“He may not look it, but Inu Yasha does feel the bond between them,” Miroku said as he looked off after the two half-lings. “It’s sad really, I imagine if they had been born fully human they would have been completely happy and normal. But because they share their blood with demons, they have never been accepted.”
“I can’t imagine how they must have grown up,” Kagome sighed and then looked at the village behind them. “How could they had done that to children?”
“Easily enough, Kagome,” Sango said, she was looking down, her face in a rather guilty expression. “I have ended the lives of plenty of hanyou before meeting you and Inu Yasha. Most of them welcomed death, others fought hard, but I have to say the ones like Inu Yasha and Meishou are the hardest to kill. They look at you with this soul piercing gaze, asking for acceptance even in a battle to the death.”
“I have not met any like Inu Yasha or Meishou before, but I have met hanyou, most search for acceptance, whether it be human or demon, they all lust for it, most meeting their end before they reach mating age,” Miroku added.
“I just can’t believe that they would try and kill off a family, from what Meishou said, they kept to themselves and just wanted to live in peace,” Kagome sighed and began to pray at the three grave shrines.

~*~*~*~*~ On a Cliff Overlooking a Lake ~*~*~*~*~

Meishou sat on the edge of the cliff, tears slipping down her cheeks as she looked at the water.
“I don’t know why you come back…I never go back,” Inu Yasha said as he looked over the lake, Meishou curled up and hugged her knees to her chest.
“I don’t come back consciously, I just come back because this is where my feet lead me to go,” she stated. “I miss my life here, it was hard to go to the village and ignore the stares, but when I was at home, with my family, it was paradise.” Inu Yasha looked over the lake, slowly sitting next to Meishou, neither acknowledging the other, but both knowing the other’s past.
