Twelve hours and fifteen minutes later, she gave birth to a healthy baby girl. The baby wasted no time announcing her presence to the world with her loud, lusty cries.
Her mother thought she was the most beautiful baby in the whole, wide world. And that she was worth all the seven hells her mother went through just to have her.
"Isn't she precious? Isn't my granddaughter just lovely?"
An old man practically beamed outside the viewing room in the nursery.
"I wonder what we're going to call you though. Would it be Sakura? Or maybe Yuna. Yes, Yuna's such a pretty name,"
The old mas was already nodding his head in finality, when a deep voice disturbed him.
"Her name's Kagome,"
A silver-haired man simply stated as he walked over to stand beside the child's grandfather, looking at the still-bawling babe before him.
Just then, the baby opened her eyes and looked at the stranger so trustingly with her innocent eyes. Her crying stopped abruptly, seeming to be fascinated with the man. They stared at each other for quite some time.
And then she gifted him with a smile. The man smiled in return.
The child's grandfather watched, stupefied at the exchange. Then deciding on his granddaughter's name, he ran as fast as he can towards his daughter-in-law's room.
"Kagome. Yes, we'll name her Kagome, just like that man said. It must be fate,"

Inuyasha stood there, looking at his Kagome. She was red-faced and red-eyed due to her wailing. Yet the moment their eyes met, she stopped. She smiled at him as though she knew.
He couldn't help smiling back, all the years of emptiness now filled with wonder and purpose.
"I'm here, Kanai, just as I promised. I've found you, and I'm never letting you out of my life again,"
Inuyasha fervently vowed to the now-sleepy Kagome, her mouth busy sucking on her thumb. When she closed her eyes, the hanyou walked away.
