Golden Eyes

Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha unpacked their gear while Mirage and Ayame helped Kouga set up the tents. Kagome was watching over the little ones. There were three toddlers, the teenage redheaded triplets that were Kouga’s, Ayame’s, and Miroku’s who were being rather troublesome then helpful as their parents yelled at the kids to get up off their buts to help out.

Souta and Shippo showed up finally with Rin. Rin started immediately helping Kagome get dinner ready while Souta started the fire.

Shippo wandered over to assist with the sleeping bags and other gear. Normally they would have all just crashed in one of the many caves, but it was a bit cold still and the modern age camping gear did make life much easier.

Inuyasha frowned since he was unable to keep his virtual glasses which made wandering about the woods impossible without his Seeing Eye dogs. Unfortunately they lost Chase who was killed by some unknown virus and only had Steel who they had checked over only to find out a toxin had entered his body from a spider bite. They were able to remove the poison, but Inuyasha was terrified that it could happen again to the dog so he gave Steel away opting to use his mates for now since they didn’t seem to mind. He was supposed to have his operation done in a month for the new chips that would be inserted permanently so he could perhaps see again for good. Inuyasha was both nervous and thrilled at that prospect.

As far as camping went, even blind Inuyasha knew the routine, had his staff for any rocks or tripping hazards. He was pretty good at getting around, smelling his way through the forest, and using his other senses that he had been trained now for years to use.

“Honey, can you hand me that diaper bag by your left leg? I think Tyler is a bit wet and I need to make a new bottle of juice for him.”

Inuyasha grabbed the bag and wandered over to the sound of his wife. Feeling the seat he sat down next to her assisting with changing their tiny son. This of course gave their two year old the opportunity to wander off with all the adults being so busy since she saw the triplets take off and wanted them to play.

Singing a song the little Hailee in between her made up verses called for the three siblings.

“Coty…..Lee……Drake…..where you guys? I find you k…..k. La la flower…pretty flower…”

Hailee saw the group of kids finally and they were poking at something in the bushes.

“Is that the biggest dead snake you ever saw dude? I mean check it….”

Coty stated as Drake poked the snake again with a stick.

“Ya, I wonder what killed it. It is like flat…..like its insides were totally sucked out. I mean look at it.”

Drake said as he lifted the thing up with two sticks showing that it was flat and they poked it again as Lee scrunched up his nose at the smell.

“Still smells fresh dudes. I mean hell it is still warm I bet.”

None of them dared to touch it to find out. Suddenly a coo was heard behind them.

“Hi….I look for you guys ever where. Where you been?”

Hailee demanded with her little hands on her hips. Lee looked at Hailee and groaned.

“Hailee what are you doing out here. You know your Mom is going to have a shit fit….”

Hailee’s eyes went wide.

“Oooooo…..you said bad word…..I telling on you Leeeee….”

Lee freaked out trying to find a way out of getting his damn mouth washed out with soap again. His Mom was known to be faster with soap than Aunt Kagome and it was Irish Spring always. That stuff was like a second meal to the three boys who took after their Father.

“No don’t tell Hailee! Dang, you can hang with us ok? Just don’t tell. We still need to let Aunt Kag’s know you are here. You know that you aren’t supposed to be wandering all over the woods without an adult. You want to get eaten by a bear?”

Hailee sucked her thumb and shook her head no as Lee took her hand.

“Come on guys, we will come back after we take Hailee back…..hey what was that!”

Lee stated hearing a crack behind them. Suddenly a red eyed demon lunged at the group of kids with spider webs flying out of the skinny skeletal creature’s fingers. Hailee screamed as did the others.

Kouga growled as he heard his boys screaming.

“Damn it. Can’t those brats ever stop freaking each other out for fun? I don’t have time for this shit.”

Kagome looked around.

“Where is Hailee?”

Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru as well as the others looked around as Kouga sighed.

“She is probably with my brats. Those pups will look after her. If they don’t come back soon we will go get them. Lee and Coty are pretty good with Hailee.”

Kagome didn’t like this. It was around Hailee’s nap time and those screams didn’t sound like a bunch of kids playing. There was no whacking, scrapping, or other noises that usually went with such things.

“I want to go look for them.”

Kagome stated as Inuyasha rolled his eyes.

“I am sure they are fine Kagome. Kouga is usually right about these things and they are probably just bribing Hailee to not tell on them. That is why it is so quiet. If we don’t hear from them in an hour we will go look, but let the damn kids be kids for hells sakes.”

Sesshoumaru sighed at how blasé Inuyasha and Kouga were acting. Did they forget the mess that had happened before?

“I will go look for them and if I have any issues I will let you both know. I am not allowing mistakes or did you both forget why we are out here?”

Sesshoumaru ground out as he headed out into the woods grasping Mirage by her arm to follow him.

Kagome sighed.

“I know I shouldn’t be so worried Inuyasha and Kouga, but after all that happened……”

Kouga and Inuyasha relaxed.

“Sess will take care of it and besides we are out here where no one knows us. We should be fine Kagome. We even picked a different place to camp this time and I figured our disguises should have fooled anyone. I mean our Alpha went all out even having Mirage color her hair black. Kagome you are a red head and even we altered our appearance. Who would imagine an Inu with green eyes and auburn hair? Inuyasha doesn’t even look like himself. He looks like Shippo except not as much of a pain in the ass.”

Kouga stated frowning at his long blonde hair. Sure with his blue eyes it looked ok, but he felt like an idiot. Seeing Sesshoumaru with golden hair was just too weird too.

“It is true Kagome. No one should know our family with the way we look.”

Inuyasha stated with a frown. He couldn’t even imagine what he looked like. He had others help and Sesshoumaru place an appearance spell upon them all except for their hair which they colored with him knowing it would fade out on its own in a week after the investigation was done and the spell dissipated.

“You are all probably right, but I don’t feel right. Something is wrong.”

Ayame felt it too, but she didn’t want to cause a panic when most likely it was indeed as Kouga and Inuyasha stated.

Sesshoumaru and Mirage changed forms into the white wolves running through the forest looking for the kids. They found some spider webs and Hailee’s doll she took with her everywhere along with a snake that had been feasted upon.

“I smell them, but I don’t see them Sesshoumaru.”

Mirage stated with a panic. They had to find the kids. Time was ticking and going back without an answer was not going to help anyone.

“I am having the same problem. It is like we are going in circles. I am afraid we are going to have to go back to get Inuyasha so that he can see if there is a barrier. I hope he brought the damn tessaiga like I told him to.”

Sesshoumaru ground out as he was sick of this game. They had been tricked again and this time it was the little ones lives in danger. It was completely unacceptable especially with all the precautions he had set up including the changes of their appearances. No one should know who they were. They all looked like ‘humans’ which really pissed him off. Sesshoumaru never wanted to be lowered to this level. It was insulting.

As they started to run back Sesshoumaru heard a yelp and turned to see someone he never expected to see again holding his mate getting ready to drain her as she struggled against the feral starving spider demon.
