At the rate they were going, she wouldn't be surprised if she heard sirens coming. He drove like a maniac. But she was too busy fighting another contraction, so shecouldn't very well tell him.
"Where are you taking me?"
She asked limply after that painful episode.
"To the hospital, where else? Now quit your glaring, woman. I have an emergency on my hands,"
She continued to glare at him as she answered tartly:
"I'll probably end up giving birth on this car the way you're driving! Seems to me your pants is on fire rather than a pregnant woman on your car,"
He said nothing, but she could see the spark of amusement twinkling in his eyes.
"Besides, I'm supposed to go home first. I have to pack my bag then tell my husband--"
"Quiet! Don't you have a cellphone or something?Jeez,"
She gave him an I-want-to-hit-you-so-bad look as she fumbled for her cellphone. Then she had to stop short, her breath coming out in a whoosh as she felt something warm and fluid pass through her thighs.
"I think I ruined your car,"
She squeaked. One look at her told him her water bag broke. He couldn't stop the "Fuck!" that came out of his mouth. She immediately slapped her hand to his mouth.
"No swearing! My baby can hear you,"
He looked at her as if she's lost her mind before concentating on his driving. They were at the hospital in no time at all. He was scooping her up into his arms again (beside the fact that she's dripping wet) and then they were at the front desk before she knew it.
"She's having the baby any minute now. Her water bag already broke, and she's been having sporadic attacks of contractions. Have the staff prepare the delivery room,"
"Yes, sir,"
The nurse at the desk quickly did as he said without question. Still carrying her, he decided to forgo the elevators and took the stairs ten at a time instead. How he was able to do that, she didn't know. And she didn't really care as she was gripped by a series of contractions again.
"Oww! Let go of my hair. Don't you have anything else to hold on to?"
She yanked on his shirt instead in answer.
At last, they were at the gynecology ward. If she wasn't on the throes of one of the most painful moments in her life, she'd probably be amazed at how smooth and efficient the staff was catering to her. They didn't even ask for her name.
Then he was lowering her to a hospital bed, where she'll be wheeled to her trip to the delivery room.
"You can let go now. They're going to take care of you,"
He said to her as he went to untangle her fingers from his shirt. But she held on fast, not relinquishing her hold on him.
"What's your name?"
She saw him hesitate before giving her an answer.
"Kojima. My family name's Kojima,"
Then she surprised him by kissing him on the cheek before letting him go.
"Arigato, Kojima-kun,"
And then she was off to the delivery room.
