Bath Time for the Children

Sango walked out of Kaede's hut. She looked around the village and didn't see Miroku anywhere. She really had to talk to him. She found him under the tree that Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha were in. She walked up to him and stopped when she was beside him. "Miroku can I talk to you in private?"

Miroku raised his head and saw Sango's serious face. He stood up and followed her when she started walking away from the field. She stopped by the river and sat down so he sat beside her. "Yes Sango"

"You know how you are always asking girls to bear your child. What would you say if one of them was?" Sango picked a blade of grass and tore it into little pieces.

"But Sango I didn't sleep with any of them. So how could any of them bear my child. The only person I have slept with is you so you don't have to worry about one of them ladies bearing my child." He was worried there for a second. So Sango was worried about another women barring his child.

Sango got so mad at him. How could he be so dense. She raised her boomerang and hit him in the head. "How could you be so stupid." She turned and ran from the stream.

Miroku watched her run away from him. I thought she would be glad that someone else wasn't bearing his child. So why did she hit me with her boomerang. I didn't grope her or anything. As soon as his head stopped spinning he would go after her.

Kagome had watched Sango and Miroku walk off together then a few minutes later Sango came running back to the hut crying and mumbling something about stupid monks.

Kagome went to find Miroku. She wasn't surprised when she found him beside the stream with a huge knot on his head. "So Miroku what did you do now? You had better not have done something to her."

"Kagome, Sango came and asked to talk then she asked what would happen if one of the girls that I had asked to have my child was. I assured her that would not happen. The next think I know she hit me on the head and ran away." He sat up and looked in the direction that Sango had ran.

Kagome shook her head and hit Miroku on top of his. "You are stupid. Miroku how come none of the other girls can bear your children?"

"I never slept with them that's why." Now his head was really hurting. He closed his eyes and leaned his head back.

"So the only girl you slept with was Sango, right. I seem to recall you asking Sango to bear your child and unless my nose is wrong you definitely slept with her. Are you getting any of this or has she hit you one to many times in the head."
Kagome laughed when Miroku's eyes popped open and he stood and ran after Sango. Well I do believe he finally caught on.

Miroku couldn't believe what Kagome was insinuating. So that is what Sango meant. He went to the hut and found her stirring a pot of stew that Kaede had made. He walked over to her and took her hand in his and knelt down beside her. "I am sorry Sango that I didn't understand what you were trying to tell me. I am honored that you are having my child. And I would be even happier if you would consent to be my wife."

Sango couldn't believe that Miroku just asked her to marry him. She nodded her head yes and felt Miroku pull her into his arms and brought his mouth to hers in a chaste kiss. "So you finally figured out what I was trying to tell you?"

Miroku rubbed the small bump on his head and smiled. "After Kagome reminded me of a few things it all clicked in place. I am sorry I was so dense."

"That's ok I am use to you being that way." Sango laughed at his hurt face.

"I think I was just insulted." Miroku smiled at Sango and stood up and helped her stand. "I am going to go back and help with the children." He turned and walked out of the hut. Now that he was away from Sango he could let the happy mask fall. He didn't know how to be a father. But it was now out of his hands. He had better learn quickly.

Inuyasha turned to watch the monk walk back to the tree. "So what's wrong with you Miroku?"

Miroku looked up the tree to Inuyasha. He smiled at him "I am going to be a father."

Inuyasha didn't expect that. He caught himself as he started to fall out of the tree. "Not Sango too." He turned and glared at Sesshoumaru and Miroku. "Thanks to you two now our team is down by two fighters. They can't fight and endanger their babies. How are we going to defeat Naraku. Couldn't you two have waited till he was defeated before knocking our team down two members."

Sesshoumaru glared at his brother. Although he did have a point about being down two members of his brothers team. He wouldn't let Kagome fight until after the pups were born. "Brother you have obviously never smelt an inu-youkai in heat or you would understand why Kagome is having pups. It was not something that I was able to turn away from. Besides I will fight in her stead until our pups are born. And once Kagura is healed she can replace Sango until her child is born. So you break even."

Inuyasha frowned at his brother. Not only did he have to put up with Kagura now he had to put up with having his brother around on their search. This was definitely not his day. He turned his head as he heard Kagome yell for the children.

Kagome stepped out of the hut and hollered for the children. She watched them run down the hill to her. She was surprised that Kanna was actually smiling and laughing not to mention running beside Rin and Shippou. All three children stopped in front of her and smiled up at her. They were all covered in dirt. Rin and Shippou she was use to seeing this way but Kanna's kimono was almost black. You could barely see bits of white showing through. "I think we need to go to the hot springs before we eat. I don't believe I have seen dirtier kids anywhere. Did you leave any dirt in the field or did you decide to wear it all. How did you three end up so dirty?"

All three kids shuffled their feet and looked so guilty. Rin looked up at Kagome and smiled. "Jaken was complaining because we were burring him in flowers so we thought he would like to see how it would feel to be buried for real."

Kagome held back a laugh then she saw the shocked faces on the looked down at the guilty party. "Where is Jaken now Rin?"

"In the field under the flowers?" Rin stirred up more dirt when her tail wagged behind her.

Kagome breathed a sigh of relief. At least the kids unburied him. But as Shippou started talking her fear came back.

"Yeah Kagome, We did like you told us and placed flowers over him to mark his spot." Shippou saw his moms face and knew they were going to get into trouble soon.

Kagome yelled for Sango to watch the kids and took off for the field. She found Sesshoumaru with Miroku and Inuyasha heading to the hut. She didn't see Jaken anywhere. "Uh Sesshoumaru where is Jaken?"

"I assumed he was with Ah Un. I haven't heard him for a while why?" He looked at Kagomes scared face and followed after her as she ran to the field.

"The children said they buried him. We have to find him and save him." They ran into the field surrounded by high flowers and were followed by Inuyasha and Miroku.

Inuyasha found the mound and could smell Jaken's scent. "I think I found him." He started digging and uncovered the imp. At least he was still breathing.

Jaken felt someone pull him out of the hole the children had put him and looked up at Inuyasha, Sesshoumaru, Kagome and Miroku. "My lord the children buried me thank you for saving me my lord."

Kagome tried not to laugh and bit her mouth to stop herself. "Jaken I do believe that you need a bath more than the children. I am sorry that they buried you and I will punish them for doing so." She stood up and left the field she had to before she broke into laughter in front of the imp.

Sesshoumaru heard his mates laughter and had to leave so he wouldn't join her. He caught up to her and walked down to the hut with her. The children were outside of the hut. Kirara had Rin and Shippou hanging from her mouth by their clothes and Sango was holding Kanna. He glanced to the slayer and raised his eyebrows in question.

Sango watched Kagome and Sesshoumaru heading for them. She was glad they were back. The children had tried to run off so Kirara had helped her hold them till they got back. "They were trying to run away from the hut. They were saying something about being in trouble. Do you all know what they were talking about.

Kagome took Rin and watched Sesshoumaru grab Shippou and hold him up by his tail. "Yes they decided to bury Jaken and now it is time for their punishment. Does anyone have any ideas on their punishment?"

"No treats after supper for a week, not taking a bath, having to play with Jaken some more." The kids kept hollering punishments but Kagome turned to Sesshoumaru "I think Sesshoumaru should decide the punishment. After all he was the one that was suppose to watch you all and Jaken is his retainer. And after he decides your punishment he will take you three to the hot springs with Inuyasha's and Miroku's help and make sure you all get a bath." She looked behind Sesshoumaru and saw Miroku and Inuyasha trying to sneak away. "Osuwari" She sat Inuyasha so he couldn't move and watched as Sango threw her boomerang at Miroku to stop him. "You two will help him since you were suppose to be helping watch the kids. I expect them to come back with their hair washed and no traces of dirt on them anywhere." Kagome turned and went into the hut and grabbed some towels and clothes for the kids. She grabbed one of Rin's kimono's for Kanna to use then she left the hut and returned to the men. She handed Sesshoumaru the towels and wash cloths, Miroku the soap and shampoo and Inuyasha the kids clothes. Then she turned and followed Sango into the hut.


The men stood frozen in place. They stared at the supplies that Kagome gave them and then at the kids. They didn't know who was more shocked the kids or them. Inuyasha turned to his brother "I am not giving these kids baths."

Sesshoumaru turned to look at his brother and raised his eyebrows. "Fine then go tell Kagome that."

Inuyasha looked from his brother to the hut. He didn't want to face Kagome. So he turned back to his brother "What did you do to her to make her so mean."

"I told her she was brave, smart and didn't have to put up with anyone telling her what to do now. Obviously she didn't understand that I still could. Nor could she tell me what to do. But I am not going to face her when she is in this mood. I do not feel like sleeping alone for the next month." He held Shippou away from him and started walking to the hot springs.

Miroku watched the demon lord walk off with Shippou and grabbed Rin when he spotted her trying to sneak away. "Oh no you don't. It is time for your bath and I will not let Sango and Kagome get mad at me." He picked Rin up and followed Sesshoumaru.

Inuyasha saw his brother and the monk walking off with two of the children and looked down to see Kanna staring up at him. Then she walked over to him and held up her hands. He bent down and lifted her up and followed the others.

Kagome waited till the men and children left then broke down into a laughing fit. Soon Sango and Kaede joined her.

Kagura heard the girls laughing and raised up. "May I ask what is so funny?"

Kagome stopped laughing and walked over to kneel beside her. "The kids were playing while I tended you and got filthy so I told the men they had to give them a bath."

Kagura couldn't believe what Kagome was telling her. She couldn't image Lord Sesshoumaru, his brother or the monk bathing girls or any other children. She started laughing along with the girls. It had been a long time since she had felt like laughing. When she stopped laughing she sat up the rest of the way and faced Kagome. "Thank you Kagome and Kaede for healing me. I know that in the past I have tried to harm you and I want you to know that I didn't want to. Naraku forced me to do what I did. If I didn't follow his orders he had control of my heart and he would threaten to break it if I disobeyed him."

Kagome, Sango and Kaede stared at Kagura in shock. So that's how he controlled her. Now they understood. "So how did you get away?"

"A friend of yours gave me a new heart and told me to get Kanna and come to this village to you." Kagura looked at Kagome and smiled. "You have some powerful friends Kagome."

"I know aren't they nice. But don't tell anyone else about them." Kagome handed Kagura a bowl of stew and a cup of tea. "Now eat. You need to regain your strength."

They watched and listened for the men to return. A little while longer and they heard the kids laughing and Kagome went outside with Sango to welcome them back. Her smile froze on her face as she spotted the three men. They were soaked to the skin and their hair was hanging down their faces. You could still see drops of water dripping off all three of them. The kids ran up to her and she told them to go inside and they would be in shortly. When the kids were gone she started laughing. She could hear Sango laughing along with her.

Sesshoumaru glared at his mate and the slayer "I am glad you two find amusement with our state of well being."

Kagome turned and looked at Sesshoumaru then burst out laughing all over again. "I do believe that you were suppose to give the children a bath. But it looks like they gave you all one." Kagome went to the hut and returned with three more towels. "I think you all will need these why don't you three try taking a bath now. Although I think you already had one." She handed Sesshoumaru a new outfit and gave Inuyasha one too. Then watched as Sango handed Miroku his clean robes. She had never seen the monk look so untidy. His hair was hanging out of his ponytail and sticking to his head and he had dirt streaks on his face. She almost burst out laughing all over again. When the men left for the hot springs she went into the hut and fed the children. It was going to be a long night.

Benten smiled down on the occupants of the hut. Two couples down one to go. Now this one was going to be difficult. She thought of the pair then thought of Gekka. He would come in handy with this part.
