Golden Eyes

When dawn approached Kouga and Mirage were left alone in the bed. Kouga woke for only a second to look at Mirage who was out cold snoring softly. She was laying on most of his hair and hers was cascading down her back in waves with a few golden strands over her face.

Kouga felt very protective of Mirage and was still put out that Sesshoumaru took her from him. He couldn’t help himself as he wrapped one muscular arm about her waist. Hell he knew her longer than Sesshoumaru did. Why couldn’t they share since she would have been claimed by him first if it had not been for a few stupid technicalities? Things that were never supposed to happen since her mate was not supposed to be killed by a damn road side bomb. If things were perfect in the world Mirage would have been his female, but life wasn’t like that.

Mirage wasn’t even supposed to be here. She was supposed to live the rest of her life thinking she was mortal, die as a mortal with her first mate living what humans called a normal life. Bobby had to hate them all a bit probably feeling like they were trying to take his Mom away and turn her into one of them rather than the person he knew his whole life.

Sesshoumaru complained about his change, but he had no concept on how much changing his wife had to do as well as the rest of his family’s sacrifices on his behalf. Sesshoumaru could be a complete ingrate some days even if Kouga loved him more than life itself. Being human once a month was nothing in comparison to having to alter your whole life around one person all the time. It was no wonder Mirage kept using humor to fit in and try to adjust. It was her way of being accepted and trying to hide her feelings. Kouga knew Sesshoumaru could feel her discomfort, yet he still insisted on living like it was still the Feudal Era.

Modern times were a bit more complex even if some things were more open than in the past, prejudices still survived and love in their form was considered by normal people as horrific rather than seen as what they saw it as. Love to the demon mind was many things. Lust and Love were one union not two separate entities. Passion was shared both sexually and mentally creating a rebirth of pure enlightenment that brought two souls into one. They were doing what their nature instinctively told them and being non human made things complicated enough when it came to living their long existences amongst the human rabble trying to convince the humans they were new people every so many years. All that these demons knew would flabbergast a human to the point of insanity. No one could comprehend the things that a demon knew or as some called them immortals.

Mirage had been raised to believe she was human and demons who did not know their nature lived a human existence dying the same way a human might however they were forced at times to be reborn to the world since the original fall kept them from moving forward until unfinished business was completed. In truth there really was no loss of life, but a reincarnation of sorts in the place of the original loss.

Of course this ‘great loss’ amongst the angels turned demon depended on a number of things since reincarnation did not always happen. Some did move forward and others needed to remain to complete their lifetime by finally finding their soul mates who would complete the transition for the full transference into what some called heaven and what they called the neither world since there was no true explanation for it. Heaven or the neither world was a creation of something by something that was indescribable even in ancient text because in truth no one knew God personally that ‘lived’ on earth except those who were begotten by him, sent by Angels who conversed with God, or were in Heaven. No one really knows even the near dead since only in death were some answers given. If one were reborn to the earth all of those answers would be lost in translation since they were not meant for the living. It would be too much for anyone to bare after all that they had been through.

Kouga wanted to make love to Mirage and to share moments with her as he had done with Kagome. In many ways Kouga wished to always covet what others had especially in their happiness since he felt so alone without those he knew close to him. Kouga knew that was a sin, but in his heart he had always longed for the things that others had only to cause his own hell in suffering in silence watching from afar the things he desired. Had it been any other demon that claimed Mirage and Kagome he could have easily killed them to get what he wanted. Would it be enough though once he had it? That was always the lingering question. Once he got what he wanted like Sesshoumaru did, would he be as satisfied as his stronger mates?

Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru settled down. They had contentment and Kouga seemed to always find himself unsatisfied when the day was done no matter how many times he tried to convince himself that he was happy enough with what he had.

The fact was Kouga wanted to be with Sesshoumaru also, but in many ways he was damn jealous and pissed that he couldn’t just do as Sess had done tricking Mirage into making the decision to be his female too. Kouga just couldn’t do it and wouldn’t. It was below his honor and besides, he liked his limbs intact.

“I leave for one moment Kouga………..”

Sesshoumaru growled as he came back into the room with a towel around his waist and his hair combed to perfection standing with his hands on his hips looking at the wolf who was fondling his wife.

“Well, you did invite me in.”

Kouga stated smirking a bit as he took in the sight before him. Sesshoumaru was incredible when wet with his hair glistening silver with the droplets of water looking like small crystals on his pale skin as well as his long silky hair. He was almost too feminine in face to be seen right off as a male if it were not for the Adam’s apple and the strong jaw line not to mention the tools of his trade hidden beneath the towel. Sesshoumaru indeed looked more like his beautiful Mother than his Father although the baritone voice was more like Touga’s than Inuyasha who still had a bit of a higher pitch to his timber.

“Hn…..”

Sesshoumaru stated acknowledging that fact. Removing his towel he started to dress for work.

“Do not get too comfortable Kouga. We are going to the office this morning. We have work to do and do not tell me that you cannot just because Mirage has your hair trapped under her. You are not that weak that you cannot escape without waking MY wife up.”

Kouga frowned as he untangled himself giving Mirage a peck on the cheek before getting out of bed. He didn’t want to go to the fucking office. Why the hell were they going there on a Saturday of all days?

“Fine…..I am up.”

Sesshoumaru watched Kouga yawn and took in his mate’s body for a moment to see if any of the scars from last night were still present. It was a fine sight, but he didn’t have time for this nonsense. He had plans today and Kouga was a big part of them. He was going to meet as many eligible demon females as Sesshoumaru could throw at him that he had interviewed himself until Kouga found his intended. Sesshoumaru absolutely refused to share Mirage with his male mates and only Inuyasha would have the privilege if anyone to share Mirage with him. That would happen when hell froze over.

Kouga found his things and couldn’t help sneaking a peek at Mirage whose legs were sticking out a bit from under the blankets as the blankets showed off all her curves. He wanted to just crawl back under the blankets to convince Mirage to be his too, but there was no way Sesshoumaru would put up with that.

“I can’t believe you are making me leave with you on a Saturday of all days. I thought the weekends were ours.”

Sesshoumaru smiled.

“Who says they are not? You of course never think of work as a pleasant thing; however Kouga I believe you might change your mind today. We are going to find you an administrative assistant. A female one of course so you will be interviewing several prospects and yes we are getting you a female since you have dated half the population of our company even those who were not single. You know I do not approve of that.’
“We need some fresh faces and so I have some new imports for you. In other words, people who do not know you since everyone that did know you have been transferred so I do not have to hear the office gossip about you anymore. You are indeed a male slut and if you wish to continue sharing my bed you will settle yourself down.”

Kouga smirked a bit.

“Hell babe, I haven’t slept with all of them. I just made myself a reputation. Truth is I mainly just stick with you, Miroku, Inuyasha, Sango, and Kagome. Most of the time, it is just me, Inuyasha and Kagome together. They keep me busy enough and I am rather picky when it comes to my nights. I don’t just sleep with those who brag about me, but who am I to stop them? It does wonders for my ego.”

Sesshoumaru smiled softly as he eyed the wolf. Kouga was right in his desire to be seen as a wanted man by the many who found him irresistible. As ‘Raiden Tashio’ he was as sought after and bragged about by people Sesshoumaru didn’t even know. It did stroke the ego in all the right places.

“I agree with you, I just do not feel like sharing my lovers with the rest of the planet Kouga. You have to make a decision with someone we can all stand. You know as much as I adore Kagome, she grates on my last nerve. I will not sleep with her and unfortunately Sango doesn’t find me as appealing as she used to. I could bounce a quarter off of that tight ass of hers, but it doesn’t make a dent when I refuse to pick another woman besides my own to enjoy. Mirage is all I need in a female. You and Inuyasha can have the rest of them.’
“I wish to settle down Kouga. I have to think of raising my own family now. You and Inuyasha have several offspring. I am just starting out so cut me some slack too.”

Kouga smelled Mirage as he gave her a kiss on the cheek while adjusting his tie.

“Well you didn’t waste time. Hell Sesshoumaru, we gave Kagome at least a few months before pupping her.”

Sesshoumaru frowned.

“No, I was just not one to procrastinate forever as you two do. I may be picky when it comes to choosing a female, but I have not taken nearly as long as you have. You have worn your female out the both of you. That is why Inuyasha is meeting us at the office. He is going to choose with you for your new assistant since I am only dropping you off. I have plans. Perhaps you should consider this an opportunity to use some of that famous wolfish charm you tend to use on me lover.”

Kouga looked at Sesshoumaru in shock since Sesshoumaru of course always went straight for the heart of the matter with the blunt truth. This wasn’t some job search, it was a matchmaking event.

“Now that isn’t fair Sess. I still have time to look.”

Sesshoumaru looked sternly at Kouga.

“You have taken too much time and you only have until this summer. That is only three months away before your demon may decide to go nuts on us. I will not have some bitch that will drive me insane as your mate. I already have Kagome, Sango, and Mirage to do that. Inuyasha will know what I can put up with and one thing I will not put up with Kouga is your procrastination. You need to get your ass moving and find your female before I find one for you. This is your last chance before I go out and make your life hell. I will find one who is just like me in other words.”

Kouga turned white. Hell, Sess had a stick up his ass a mile long and Kouga would be damned if he was stuck with a female that acted just like Sesshoumaru. She could look like him since of course Sesshoumaru was gorgeous, but he would rather be boiled in oil before mating a woman just like his beloved lover. One Alpha male was enough without some crazy bitchy serious no sense of humor female with no personality showed up to make him suffer? There was no way on God’s green earth he was going to pastures with that kind of a bitch as his female mate. He would rather be unmated to his beloved family and have Sess put him out of his misery early.

“Fine, but if I don’t find anything I am going to insist you change the rules so I can be fully mated to a male since there is no way in hell I am going to be stuck with a bitch with no fucking sense of humor.”

Sesshoumaru frowned.

“I am not that anal retentive. I do have a sense of humor, look at who I am mated to. I chose you did I not?”

Kouga could have taken that as an insult, but instead he shrugged. It was true. The last people in the world that anyone would believe the Great and Powerful Lord Sesshoumaru would be mated to had surrounded the King of all Demons as his mates. One of them had to be serious and it might as well be their Alpha.

Sesshoumaru gently woke up Mirage with soft kisses and gentle nuzzling.

“Kouga leave us.”

Kouga left the room after getting dressed. It was an order not a request.

“Yes…I know……it is morning………shoot the alarm clock…tell the world I died…make up some shit since I don’t want to move….”

Sesshoumaru smirked at his wife. As always she was amusing in the morning and of course not a morning person at all.

“As much as I don’t want you to get dressed dear you need to wake up. We have plans this morning and I want to take you to breakfast.”

Mirage frowned as she yawned like a lazy cat.

“Why can’t we just stay here and have it delivered? I thought I was like part vampire…aren’t vampires supposed to stay out of sunlight? If I ain’t undead just make it so all powerful one.”

Sesshoumaru laughed at that as he scooped his pouting wife out of bed.

“I am sorry I didn’t hear you, you must be dead so you will not mind if I dress you up and take you with me.”

Mirage pouted, but allowed Sesshoumaru to attend to her as he pulled out her clothing like he knew women’s clothing all his life. It was amusing since it all did match and yet there were no undergarments? There was no way Mirage could go commando. It was against the bug rules that might climb in places that no bug should go. It was this stupid stubborn fear that Mirage had which was why sleeping naked had been only possible because of Sesshoumaru’s spell. Mirage had a constant fear of bugs crawling on her. There were already enough holes for a little bug to crawl in without giving access to more.

“Ummmm…..you are forgetting some things………..”

Mirage stated as she pulled out some underwear only to have Sesshoumaru toss them across the room.

“You are dead so you can’t talk unless you changed your mind and you want breakfast with me. Still dead people don’t need under garments and if you are alive I don’t know if I want to give you any. After all you made me mourn you, you wicked little vixen.”

Sesshoumaru watched as Mirage scrambled to get her pink panties from him as she chased him all over their bedroom. It was an amusing game as he finally tackled her with both of them falling off the bed onto the floor where Sesshoumaru demanded a kiss before helping to slide on her panties as he took his time making certain to run his fingers all over all the places he wanted to touch again later so that Mirage knew that promises would be kept when they returned from their travels.

Mirage wondered where Sesshoumaru got this notion that she liked pink and blue so damn much. Some of the things bought for her by Rin were multicolored, but everything Sess bought for her was pink or blue. Even Kouga and Inuyasha had this pink theme going on with her. The pink summer dress she was wearing was beautiful with tons of beading as it hung loosely about her with a slight flare to the bottom of the skirt. It was just that there was so much pink.

Sesshoumaru smirked since Mirage constantly forgot that he could read her mind.

“My dear, I read your thoughts so know this pink theme is for our pharmaceutical companies. Some of these are gifts. This year we are supporting breast cancer awareness for the humans. Even Kagome and Sango are in pink. All our females are representing this in order to gain favor with the human and demon populations. Lower demons have been also afflicted with this cancer epidemic. So we in turn support them. Even I am sporting a pink tie which believe me took a lot for Inuyasha’s wife to convince me to wear since I abhor the color on my person. I would prefer powder blue or even light green to wearing this ‘pepto’ pink. In truth it was Inuyasha’s promise that he would not wear those virtual glasses again until I have them so thoroughly tested that there are no mistakes that got me to do this. I sincerely fear for his safety even though we believe our threat is deceased.”

Mirage smirked flipping his tie as they stood up with Sesshoumaru playing Prince Charming by sliding on these sparkling pink high heel shoes that reminded her of the Twelve Dancing Princesses story she read a long time ago.

“And you say that you only do this to keep your cattle from dying out.”

Sesshoumaru made a Hn sound in acknowledgement. Then put a hand out to Mirage as they got ready to leave.

Kouga smiled at Mirage as his long jet black hair floated about him with those sparkling beautiful cerulean blue eyes. He was so damn good looking, but Mirage only had eyes for Sesshoumaru. As much as she loved the rest of his family, Mirage just couldn’t imagine being with anyone else and Sesshoumaru pretty much felt the same way now that he was going to be a first time Father. He had been with his lovers for years so he wanted time to settle down and raise a few pups of his own.

Getting into the limo it didn’t take long to arrive at the company. It seemed like thousands of people showed up for the interview of being the new company President’s administrative assistant. Most of them female, but there were handfuls of men here and there.

Sesshoumaru knew that with the economy people needed work and fact was he needed them to work for him since he had other job openings. Kouga was going to take over so they needed a whole new staff for this new drug company that would create medications for humans while in secret he used part of this ‘human run’ corporation to work on more ways to help Inuyasha see since the virtual glasses were apparently too easy to sabotage.

Lee showed up with Hallow at his side to greet his Father.

“Nice pickings Dad.”

Kouga frowned at his son who was not wearing a pink tie like the rest of them. He was still in jeans and a t shirt with Hallow sporting something similar looking at Lee with daggers feeling rather foolish in front of royalty.

“I thought you said it was ok for us to be informal Lee.”

Kouga growled at Lee.

“I thought I told you to be dressed and ready boy.”

Lee frowned at his Dad lifting a bag with dry cleaning in it.

“Hey no problem Dad, see I brought it with me and one for the spider too. We are all set and I feel my schwing is on at this crowd. Will you look at the babes in line for that job old man? Damn.,…wish I could trade ya places.”

Kouga whacked Lee on the back of the head and frowned at Hallow.

“I thought you were going to be a good influence on him. I see my son’s lack of responsibility isn’t just the people he ‘hangs’ with if that is the new slang now of days. Go get dressed already and do not play around in the bathroom.”

Hallow followed Lee into the men’s room. Sesshoumaru looked over at Kouga who was trying not to strangle his son.

“See what you have to look forward to? Why don’t you just let me and Inuyasha take over as your heirs? It might save ya some time and stress. I love my kids, but at the same time they are such a pain in the ass. Never listen to ya, always wanting to take your things then not give them back, draw all over your suit with their puppy slobber. It is great I tell ya. Then they grow up and act like they know it all push every damn button you didn’t even know you had….yep that’s my son.”

Sesshoumaru smiled widely.

“I have helped you raise that boy and many others. Do not think Kouga that you will get out of this just because you don’t want to mate who I think you should. There are plenty of choices here for your assistant and others to get to know you. Court them all for all I care, just make a damn decision. Let your son and that young wolf spider boy help you. Let Inuyasha help you since it is pretty obvious you both have similar tastes in women.”

With that Kouga was left standing trying to keep his schwing in check since that is how he always got himself in trouble and his kid was right. Sesshoumaru had indeed sent some nice options his way. With a rather devilish smirk he thought of Lee and perhaps even that little pain in the ass with him. Perhaps he could pawn the ones he didn’t choose to his kid and see if even Inuyasha might help him with Shippo picking his own too. Both Fathers agreed that Souta was much more stable for Rin and it was Shippo who needed to get his red haired trouble making ass over here to the office.
