Wedding
Chapter Thirty-Eight
{Morning of the Wedding}
Kagome opened her eyes, they were coated with something gooey. Her hand reached up to wipe them clean. What felt like snot came off, "Gross." She wiped her eyes as best as she could. They opened and she took a good look around, first thing she spotted was Taree curled up in a ball snoring. Then the house, it was old and run down. Where were they? Her thoughts went back to everything that had happened? She had entered the portal with Tar, it all seemed like a dream.
A smile plastered on her face, they had done it together. He was never coming back, she reached over to wake Tar up. She was ready for a shower and to see how everyone else was. Thinking of that this didn't feel like the Makai. "Tar, wake up already."
"Huh? Did you have to wake me? I was having a wonderful dream about Yusuke wearing a pair of speedos." She wiped the muck off her face. "What the hell? Did you snot on me while I was sleeping?"
"Shut up. Where are we?"
Taree looked around. "Home. This is my old house, which means we are back in the human world. Wonder how long we have been gone. Let's head outside and I'll see if I can get us some information." Their muscles screamed as they stood up. They walked outside on the old run down porch. Tar whistled and a bird came down to land on her arm. "Need you to do me a favor." The bird took off soaring into the sky.
"Let's go ahead and start walking. At least it's raining, we can get cleaned off some. This shit really stinks." Kagome stepped off the porch into the morning rain. "I can't believe we are actually alive."
"Me either, what the hell were you thinking?"
"That I love you too much to let you die." Kagome grinned at her.
"That was so beautiful, but you still aren't allowed to borrow my spongebob's."
They walked for almost an hour before the bird returned with the information. It took off into the sky. Taree started laughing as she took off running, "Come on Kags or we are going to miss it."
"Miss what?"
"We got little under two hours to get to the temple. Mai is marrying Kurama in under two hours. I'm going to kick her ass for not inviting us." Taree started laughing at Kagome's fallen expression.
"How long have we been gone?"
"Would you believe going on three months?" Taree kept running. "Come on, we have a wedding to crash."
"Right behind you."
The rain came to a stop, the sun coming out an hour before the ceromony was to begin. People began to fill the chairs set out for the guests. Youkai and humans alike sat around talking, waiting for the event to take place. Some still felt some sadness over the two that should have been here. The bride sat inside trying not cry, her loss hitting her once again.
Kagome stopped to catch her breath, "We aren't going to make it in time, we probably have ten minutes tops before it starts. It will take another hour running."
Taree had to agree with her, they were in the city finally. Her eyes spotted a small motorcycle, ohhh the keys were still in the ignition. An older man came out, damn. Then again. "Excuse me mister can you help us?"
He eyed the girl, "Yes?"
"Our friend is about to get married, we won't make it in time on foot can you give us a lift to the Shinato shrine please." She beamed a smile at him.
"Sure, you two hope on."
"Sweet, let's go Kagome."
Mai walked down the aisle wearing a white dress, covered in lace. She smiled at thinking her friends would be happy for her. They would have loved to be here. Kurama or Shuichi, she just learned, stood up front with Hiei and Yusuke standing beside him. He smiled at seeing her walking towards him. The music played until she came to stop beside him. Crying could be heard as he took her hand.
"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to unite Mai and Shuichi in the bonds of holy matronomy."
Sighs and sniffles were heard as they preacher continued, "If there is a reason why these two should not be wed, please speak now or forever hold your..."
"I object." The motorcycle skidded to a halt, sliding at the edge of the grass. The two girls jumped off, Tar tore off the helmet. "I should kick your ass, you couldn't wait for us?"
Silence filled the air as the man took off leaving both girls standing there. Mai ran back down the aisle towards them, she threw herself at them. Kagome felt her air being cut off as Mai cried. "Mai, I can't breath."
Mr. Sinato came rushing up, "It's really you girls." He grabbed Taree out of Mai's arms. "I never gave up."
"Sorry to interrupt your wedding Mai," Kagome gasped out. "If you will let me breath, you can go finish. The preacher is waiting."
"Can we please continue?" The preacher asked as the bride walked back up.
"Yes." Kurama answered. He knew the preacher better hurry up; both men beside him were about to take off.
Both girls didn't take a seat knowing that they smelled rather bad still. As soon as the preacher proclaimed them married, Kagome and Taree walked into the shrine and headed for the shower.
They didn't bother taking turns, they locked the door and jumped in. Kagome got under the stream first, the hot water washed over her, "This feels so good."
"I'm sure it does now move over, at least let me get the remaining snot off." Tar shoved her aside gently. "I think I just had an orgasm, that feels good."
"That's gross."
"No, what's gross is waking up finding your whole body covered in mucus. Now I know what a bugger feels like. At least we made it back in time to see her get married. You saw who was up there right."
Kagome nodded, she'd seen him. Hiei had looked adorable in a tux. "Yeah, I need to wash my hair." She squeezed a generous amount of shampoo in her hand. "I can't believe we've been gone for almost three months. Wonder what has happened?"
"You mean you wonder what Hiei has done this whole time. If he even missed you."
"Guess so. I'm just happy to be alive to be honest. Now you get to keep your promise and grow old with me." Kagome smiled at her.
"Umm, yeah about that. We aren't going to grow old Kagome."
She dropped the soap and bent over to pick it up.
Taree screamed at the top of her lungs. "Dammit did you really have to do that? I think I'm going to be sick."
"Hey, it was an accident."
"Sure, lets use the old drop the soap routine. Do it again and the shampoo bottle goes in your ass." Tar weilded the bottle, Kagome snatched up the conditioner bottle.
"Are you challanging me?"
"I think I am, I feel like a good fight." Tar broke out in laughter as the two bottles collided. Wham, they slapped against each other again. The conditioner bottle burst, breaking in half slinging the thick fluid everywhere. Kagome started to scream as it shot in her eye stinging.
"Ouch, move it burns." She shoved Tar, who in turn slipped on the soap. She fell back grabbing ahold of the curtain, it tore as she landed outside the tub in a heap.
"Help, I've fallen and I can't get up."
Kagome had her eye open under the water, "Fuck, I think I'm blind. Owie." The door was kicked open and both girls turned to see Hiei and Yusuke standing there gawking. Kagome snatched up the broken bottle and threw it, "Get out."
