'Thinking'
The test was hard. Harder than most had thought and 3 student left the class with their test not finished. The part of the test she loved the most was the history of the school and some famous demon and human history. It surprised her that the legend of the Shikon no Tama was on the test. She fondly remembered her grandfather telling her the story over and over again. About a Miko that fought against a demon made up of many demons for 7 days then having a balance of Courage, Wisdom, love and friendship she was able to purify the evil youkai that came after her with the last of her powers. Binding the evil youkai and her spirit together to create the jewel. Sadly that move also killed the miko Midoriko as well.
'Such a sad but beautiful story' It was one she loved. Though she did wonder where the jewel was. She was always told that it was just a story and nothing more. Somehow she couldn’t believe that it was just a story and maybe it was true or at least just some of it. She looked at her food and started to eat it again when she finished reminiscing over the past.
Houjou saw Kagome sitting outside in the little garden the school has. She looked peaceful sitting with her small lunch under the trees. She was beautiful, smart, caring and the other girl in the school that kept turning him down. He was so angry with her the first few times she said no or would politely decline going to a movie. Usually if a girl turn him down it meant either that she was playing hard to get or after 2 more tries with some ‘romantic’ gesture they would be putty in his hands. Not her and that is what made him pissed but at the same time he loved it. 'One day she will be mine' Everyone thought he was a nice boy with good looks and just dated because it was a normal thing to do. Nobody really knew the reason he went out with all these girls was because he couldn’t get enough of them. 'They should always do what I say and not talk back. EVER' “Houjou!” a cute girl named Kai a grade lower than him walked over to him. They had a date last night and he took her purity. Not that he hasn’t taken so many. “Can we eat together?” He smiled 'putty' “Of course Kai. Would you like to go to the movies this weekend?” The girl was excited but tried not to show it too much. “Yes I would love to!” she said. He smiled again 'like she would say no'
When they got to the school they all didn’t think much of it. It looked in poor shape and couldn’t believe that they had to go here. Even Toga was expecting a little better because of last year they received a large donation for repairs from him. 'guess that money went to their pockets' He would have to talk with the school principal later and see what they changed. So far he could see new cars in the parking lot.
Toga walked down the hall with his eldest son Sesshoumaru and the 2 other school officials. Myouga and Toutousai looked at the students walking around and feeling out their powers. Most students at the school were at a low. Everyone could feel some half demons a few full demons and the rest humans. Their powers were nothing special so they all thought this was a waste of time. Everyone but Toga that is. He knew she was here at this small under managed school and was taking the entrance exam. Toga stopped at a door where the test was being held. He opened the door to see the teacher preparing for their arrival. “Hello Mr. Sato” The teacher turned to see Toga Taisho in the door with the other school members. “Hello to you all and welcome” He smiled. “Please have a seat and I will have the students come in one by one for the oral presentation”. Toga nodded and lead the way to the chairs for them to sit on. “Father there really isn’t a need for this interview. Like the last 5 schools we went to nobody is worth transferring to the school” Myouga and Toutousai couldn’t help but agree. This year it seems that they didn’t find anyone. “Toga my friend” Myouga began “it does happen that some years we don’t find anyone. We should really cut this short” “I hear what you all are saying but there is just one person I want to see. If that means to hear all the others, which I hear are only 6, speak then just be patient” everyone but Sesshoumaru nodded in response. He like the other would respect his father’s wishes. Even if it was pointless.
Kagome was off in la-la land and didn’t her the teacher call her in till he was practically standing in front of her yelling “Higurashi!!! Time to get your head out of the clouds lets go young lady!!” Kagome panicked and finished as fast as she could to pack up and head in. “Sorry!!! Really sorry” She said as she ran inside past Mr. Sato. He sighed. She was a smart girl but her head was in the clouds a lot. Though she did study hard and he believed if anyone in the class could make it, it would be her. He smiled at the girl running down the hall now.
She was last in line but already 2 people went in and in front of her was Houjou. 'Great … I hope he won’t turn around and talk to me' She whined in her head. Of course that wish didn’t come true. “What do you think they will ask my Kagome” 'My?! When the hell did I become his' she fumed in her head “I don’t know. I read that under the agreement of taking the test any questions that are asked in the room are kept secret. Even if you don’t get into the school” He came closer to her “I see. Well I hope it will be easy and not like the test” He got so close to her that her back was against the wall and he was about 4 inches away from her face.” Do you want it easy or hard Kagome?” He said in a husky tone and smiled at her. She stared back at him. Was he really saying this!? 'ewww I don’t ever want to think about THAT with him' She sighed and was about to answer him when he was called in. “Think about Kagome and get back to me about it”
She let out the breath she didn’t know she was holding and took in some deeper breaths to calm herself down. 'Why is he always hitting on me! Why can’t he just go away or actually take no for an answer' She sighed and waited her turn. After 10 min Houjou came out and looked pissed. He walked down the hall the opposite way she was and kept going. Hitting a few things as he went to where ever it was he was going. “Higurashi it is your turn” Mr. Sato smiled at her and opened the door for her.
Sesshoumaru was beyond pissed at the last guy. He acted so cool but he knew about him and his reputation. There was no way he was going to let some un-civil person into the school. Inuyasha was enough of that for the whole school and then some. Toga almost dancing in his chair waiting for her to come in the door. “Toga it seems you are most eager about something right now” Toutousai said to his longtime friend. Toga looked to everyone and gave a small smile then turned back around when the door opened.
Kagome took a deep breath and walked into the class room. The door closed behind her and she waited for them to ask her to be seated. It wasn’t that she was scared but she always figured that when you go to meet someone they should say to have a seat or not. Who knows maybe they are busy and just want you to take some papers to another room. Not sit and chat a bit about life or your cat.
“Miss Higurashi please take a seat” They were pleased that she didn’t do anything till they told her. It was a sign of respect to them. One thing they all were sure of, this little girl had a strange power coming from her. It was odd because they all knew what power they felt. Sure some humans in their school had this power but not like this. This raw miko power that seemed to be locked away and at the same time just waiting to be let out. To top it off she looked very pleasant to the eye and she smelled good as well. A plus for their noses at this point due to the last kid that reeked of many things.
“Thank you very much” She said to them a little nervous but she was happy. “My name is Toga Taisho this is my eldest son Sesshoumaru Taisho to his left are Myouga who is the principal of the school and Toutousai who is in charge of all school activities and does weapons training as well. “It’s nice to meet you all, my name is Kagome Higurashi. I am 15 years old”
She looked at them all. Toga Taisho was a good looking demon. You could tell he was strong and not using any of her miko power she could already tell he is powerful. He was tall even sitting in the students chair. His tan skin made his markings stick out. Dark purple streaks on the high bones of his checks and another set above his eyebrows. It reminded her of a sideways V shape but they didn’t connect. Golden yellow eyes and white hair made him a sight to see. His son was almost the same with resemblance. He was sitting very straight and tall in his chair. He looked like a proud demon that her grandfather told her storied of. Not that Taisho didn’t look very proud but his son looked like he… well he looked like he has a stick up his butt. Still he was a great looking demon. His skin wasn’t as tan has his fathers and his markings were more of a red and purple combined on each side of his cheeks and not above the eyebrow and wow those eyes. Still the same as his father’s just more of a golden tone. His father had 2 markings on his forehead but Sesshoumaru had a crescent shape moon. It was the same color as his father’s markings though. She wondered why he had one but his father didn’t. Myouga was short maybe about 4ft, semi bald and wore traditional clothing. Toutousai looked like he had many years on him but looked to be the friendliest of them all. He was sitting with his legs crossed on his chair and his grey hair in a ponytail. He did look to be a little insane but maybe that was because he was wearing traditional clothing and had a stick or maybe some sort of cane in his arms.
“So young lady” Myouga started “What class interests you the most in school” “I really like history and used to live on a shrine” Most people from these interviews would say math because they want to act smart. After asking a few math questions they found out most of them were not that great in math. “I see and how do you do in your other classes?” “I do pretty well. I haven’t failed a class or test in all the years I have been going to school” Myouga nodded at her “Very good Miss. Higurashi” She smiled at him “Thank you” she was glad for the easy questions for now.
“Miss Higurashi” She looked over at Sesshoumaru Taisho. He didn’t smile or have any emotion on his face. “You do know that unlike this school our school is a lot harder not only in school but also in school activities” “Yes I know but I am the one that took the test to get into a school that I knowing fully well that is harder. I didn’t quit like some of the others during the middle of the test. I think that says a lot doesn’t it?” Everyone but Sesshoumaru had a smirk on their face for the answer she gave back to him. 'So she has a little fire in her' Sesshoumaru thought and looked at the girl in front of him. He could feel the power but did she even know she had it was the question. If she was to train at their school they could be the only demon/human school with someone like her. Sure there was one other at their school that had powers like her but he could tell she was stronger than her. Even if she wasn’t trained right now.
Kagome couldn’t help but sigh as she walked home. It was late in the day and the interview at her school went on a little longer because they asked her about some answers she wrote down. Especially about Midoriko and why she knew a lot. She told them the story she knew and that her grandfather always told her of those type of stories. The Shikon jewel was her favorite story so of course she remembered it well. They asked her if her grandfather was teaching her to become a miko. That question was weird to her. Her grandfather and father both taught her many things. Like about different sutras and how to shoot a bow. Though she wasn’t so good with the bow she could still remember her father always helping her and encouraging her to do her best. Kagome smiled and wiped a tear that came to her eye as she remembered her family.
Walking up the stairs she could hear voices on her floor. She rounded the corner and saw Shippou and Kouga standing there talking about some game that Shippou won. “Hi Shippou Hi Kouga what are you doing here” They stopped their fighting over the game to see Kagome standing there in her school outfit. 'she has a nice body for a 15 year old' Kouga thought but immediately remembered that she was in fact 15 years old and mentally scolded himself for the image of her in a maid outfit came to mind.
“We are here to see if you wanted to go out to dinner. You had said yesterday you had an important test today and we figured that a nice dinner would help you after your test” Kagome was very happy to have them ask her to dinner but then the happiness left and she looked sad. “Kagome what’s the matter princess” Kouga said to her making her blush slightly. “I can’t go I’m sorry” Shippou looked at her confused. 'She was happy but then sad… but why' then it dawned on him “Kagome I know that money is tight for you but this is our treat and you don’t need to feel guilty about it.” “Thank you but I don’t want to spend your hard earned money Shippou and the same goes for you Kouga” Both demons looked at each other and smiled “Well princess we will be more than happy to treat you and you can treat us by accepting the offer. Trust us we don’t do this for everyone” Shippou looked to Kagome who still looked confused “You helped me out yesterday and then had us over to your house. Also we stayed rather late and you never said anything. Let us treat and repay you as a friend”
How could she argue with them. Her new friends and this is what friends do right? Go out together and help each other. She gave them a big smiled “Okay but can I do a quick shower and change first?” “That is fine and I will school Shippou here in another game” “Oh is that so Kouga? I thought the last 3 games we played I won” Kougas face went blank. Kagome and Shippou laughed at his expression as they all walked in to her home.
AN~ Okay this chapter is 4 pages long... Dies* I will try to update again soon but please remember I am in school (medical school) things are getting so hard right now because this is my last year. Also some surprises for next chapter.
