Hateful Pleasures
Chapter Four
fallen_angelz: I actually started going through every song I’ve ever heard of (that has lyrics) and began writing chapters for any part that I feel I could possibly do something with. I admit to finding inspiration in some of the weirdest places.
Tricia1224: I’m glad to see that you’ve reviewed this story again and find it to be interesting. I wanted it to be Naraku at first but then my muse made the comment/question, “It’s okay for demons to have hanyou siblings, but what would happen if a human had a hanyou sibling that had youkai siblings?” *bows* I am terribly sorry that your review for chapter three got deleted. I swear that it was an accident since I thought that the page was down more and I was about to click on a different review when my mother started lecturing me about leaving the T.V. on (again) so she could go to sleep. It wasn’t until after I clicked the “delete review” button did I realize that I had the wrong review. Once again, I am terribly sorry.
Chapter Four
I’m through with doubt, there’s nothing left for me to figure out. I’ve paid a price and I’ll keep paying…
Not Ready to Make Nice, Dixie Chicks
They were going to see Kagome again.
A young man with orange hair and green eyes could barely contain his excitement as he walked with the others to Kagome’s apartment. It had been five hundred years since he had seen her last and he was eager to see if she remembered him.
He could even ask why she had left.
The fox demon felt his muscles tightening as they got closer to Kagome’s apartment, picking up a strangely familiar scent. When Inuyasha knocked on the door, he found himself faced with a woman that had long black hair and deep brown eyes. “There’s two silver haired mutts and three humans plus an orange haired bastard in the hallway.” The woman called. “You want me to kill them or let the in?”
“Let them in, you cunt!” A familiar voice shouted at the woman. “As much as I’d enjoy watching four of them die, you’re the whore that wanted to invite them!”
The woman smiled at them the same way that a predator would smile at its prey before allowing them to enter the apartment. “Kagome!” Shippo said happily as he looked at the woman that was currently fussing over a young boy.
Kagome started before looking at Shippo with a confused look. As she looked at him, recognition flashed in her eyes. “Shippo!” Kagome said happily as she pulled the fox demon into a hug. “Look at you! You’ve gotten so big!”
Shippo grinned slightly before answering, “I’m five hundred years older now.”
The fox demon let go of the miko when the two children began pushing him back. “Hey!” Kagome scolded as she grabbed the two children and pulled them away from Shippo. “That is not how you treat guests. Apologize right now!”
“I’m sorry,” both children answered with a frown.
Kagome smiled as she gently pushed the two children toward the bedrooms before answering, “Tell Kosuke that our guests are here.”
Amaranth frowned slightly before answering, “What if he has a friend over?”
“Tell me and I’ll kick both in the junk before kicking his friend out.”
The twins laughed before running back to the bedrooms. “You have a beautiful apartment, Kagome.” Rin said pleasantly.
“It’s my siblings’ apartment. Haku and Hitomi have their own places but we like living together.” Kagome explained with a smile. “I made them swear that they’d try to be civilized but I’m making no promises.
“Neither are we.”
Sesshomaru stared at the dark blue haired male, seeing the dislike in his silver eyes. “Haku.” Sesshomaru said curtly.
“Sesshomaru.”
Both males frowned at each other, making the miko wonder if there was going to be a fight in the living room. “Hey, if you two get into a fight then don’t you dare pull my couch into it. I see one scratch, heads will roll.” Kagome warned the two.
A woman’s laugh caught the attention of the group, seeing a woman with white hair standing near the kitchen. “Ever possessive of the damn couch.” Hitomi laughed as her blue eyes danced. “Remember when she first saw it, brother? It was immediately hers and the moment we tell her that she has to wait so we can clean it, she decides to see what the white stuff on it was.”
Immediately Kagome grinned. “You two saw that as a turn on, you know it.” Kagome said with a grin. “You still imagine what it’d be like if time stopped for me as a kid and my face was covered in your semen.”
Haku smirked slightly before answering, “If you don’t watch your step, little sister, I will make that fantasy a reality.”
As the group watched, they could see the chemistry in the family. While Kagome shivered in pretend fear at whichever relative was making threats, the siblings that weren’t making threats would stiffen and prepare to stop whoever was making the threats. “Hey, everybody.” Souta greeted as he entered the apartment.
Inuyasha stared at the now seventeen year old boy, seeing that he had grown considerably. Sango felt her breath catch in her throat as she stared at the familiar face, her heart aching. “I trust you remember my brother, Souta.” Kagome said with fake pleasantness as she looked at Inuyasha.
“Yeah. Hey, brat.” Inuyasha said shakily.
Souta smiled slightly before grinning at his sister. “Would I be able to take some food home, sis?” Souta questioned.
“You’re gonna get fat if you keep eating.” Kagome warned him.
Souta made a face before answering, “Mama isn’t feeling very well or else she would have come. I told her that I’d be here for an hour or so then I’d go back home.”
Kagome’s eyes flickered to Hitomi, watching as she shook her head slightly. “Sure. I’ll fix up a plate once everything’s completely done and we’ll stick it in the microwave or something.” Kagome said pleasantly as the twins came running out.
“Uncle Souta!” The twins shouted happily as they dove into their uncle’s arms.
Souta laughed as he grabbed the twins and spun around, listening to their squeals of excitement. “Ah, monsters.” Souta said with a teasing grin as he kissed the two children. “Behaving for your mother?”
“Uh huh. We’re being really good.” Amaranth answered with a grin.
“Darn. I was hoping you two would-”
“Don’t finish that sentence, little brother.” Kagome said with a warning look. “I mean it.”
Souta chuckled as he released the two children before grinning at Inuyasha. “Long time no see.” Souta said with a grin. “I haven’t seen you for what? Five years now?”
“About that.” Inuyasha agreed.
“Who are your friends?” Souta’s attention turned back to his sister.
Kagome visibly tensed, clearly biting back a comment before forcing herself to smile. “Think about all of those stories I told you.” Kagome answered.
Souta’s eyes widened in amazement before answering, “I thought that you said that Sango and Miroku and Rin were human.”
“Unfortunate mishaps.”
“You shield him from what you and your siblings are able to do.”
Kagome glanced behind her, seeing the accusation in Sango’s eyes. “Didn’t you try to do the same with yours?” Kagome questioned patiently as she gathered the plates.
“I didn’t try to keep him completely ignorant.”
“I don’t need to hear him ask me to stop time for him.” Kagome answered. “Haku and Hitomi are still trying to figure out how they’re going to atone in a couple hundred years.”
“Yet you did with Miroku and myself!” Sango said angrily.
Kagome closed her eyes for a moment before answering, “Because I knew that in time, death would come for you both. I wasn’t willing to give either of you the knowledge that you’d find peace when I’d be forced to live with a reminder.”
“We were trying to save you!”
“Why? My soul was in no danger whatsoever. Haku and Hitomi wouldn’t have frozen time for me until I was older. They wouldn’t until they had an idea as to how they would atone.” Tears began to roll down her face. “I can’t atone for my sister’s actions, but I won’t atone for wanting you and Miroku to get a glimpse of the insanity that’s been gnawing away at me.”
Sango didn’t answer as she looked at the miko, seeing the sorrow in her eyes. She wasn’t sorry for what she had done, but she was sorry that Rin had gotten dragged into their fight. “Mommy, why are you crying?” Selena Rose questioned.
Kagome wiped her tears away and knelt down, embracing the little girl warmly. “Mommy’s just getting tired.” Kagome said gently.
Selena Rose wiped away the stray tear on her mother’s face before answering, “It’s okay, Mommy. When they go home, we can go to bed. You can even sleep with me.”
“We’ll see, baby.” Kagome kissed her daughter’s forehead. “You and Amaranth get ready for bed and I’ll be in to read to you two in a little bit.”
Selena Rose nodded and left the kitchen, calling for her twin and letting him know that it was time to get ready for bed. “Do they even know who their fathers are?” Sango questioned.
Kagome frowned slightly before answering, “All the twins know is that their fathers were strong. Despite how I personally feel about them, I have never once spoken ill of either Sesshomaru or Inuyasha in front of the twins.”
“You should let them have visitation to the twins.”
“If either of those bastards want visitation, then they can talk to me face to face.”
“You don’t plan on letting them play any role in the twins’ lives.”
“Why should I when I’m certain that you guys are going to tell them that their mother is permanently damned?” She put the dishes in the sink before walking past Sango. “Just so you know, Kohaku’s safe now. Haku made sure that he was reincarnated as my own little brother and I’ve been taking excellent care of him. The next time you guys decide to attempt to purify me, remember that I’ve kept vigil over Kohaku for the past seventeen years. If any of you know what’s good, you will keep Souta out of every disagreement that we’re likely to have.”
“What about Shippo and Rin? Rin got pulled into our disagreement five hundred years ago.”
Kagome smiled faintly before answering, “If you’re feeling as brave as you think you are, then take it up with my sister. I’m sure that you’ll find her reason was more rooted with the wrong committed against her than towards myself. One thing I’ve learned is that forgiveness can only work on so many things so many times.”
With that said, the miko returned to the living room uncaring of the tears that had gathered in the taijiya’s eyes. While she admitted that she struck below the belt, Kagome found that she didn’t care.
fallen_angelz: Okay, that chapter’s done and now I have to find the inspiration for the next chapter. Read and review, flames are accepted! I swear that I actually read the reviews and I don’t purposely delete them.
