Chapter 4: Money Talk
It didn’t take long to reach his home and retrieve some clothes. However, by the time he got to them he had no interest in donning them. His hand shook as he tried to suppress the poison in his blood. Naraku was going to have to wait until he could control himself better. The moon was still high in the sky above his home, he hadn’t lasted long at all.
His body ached for her touch, he could leave and be at her side long before dawn came. He knew she wouldn’t deny him, she would never know he left and he could bury himself deep inside her quivering walls as she sang out his name in pleasure.
There was a knock on his door followed by the squawk of his faithful vassal Jaken which effectively sliced his fantasy to pieces and reminded him of where he was. “Mi Lord I am so glad you have returned!” The toad called through the door.
Sesshomaru pulled open the door and glared down at the small green demon who had bowed before him, “find Kiyomi and bring her to my quarters immediately.” Sesshomaru closed the door ignoring the shocked look on Jaken’s face.
He threw the useless silk across the room and stalked over to his bed, he knew the cure for the poison. He didn’t need a human priestess to bury himself inside, anyone would do and the sooner he cooled his blood the sooner he could return to normal and continue his hunt for Naraku.
He crawled across the plush bed that he rarely used and stretched out before grasping his aching cock and slowly pumping it while he waited for the bitch to arrive. She was his personal concubine for about fifty years though he had only called on her a handful of times he knew that she would be eager to please him. Kiyomi was just what he needed right now, a strong inu bitch that could endure everything he had to give.
Yet deep blue eyes haunted his thoughts as he tried to create enough friction to bring him release, it would give him a few moments to collect himself. A soft knock on his door announced her arrival and he forced his hand to release his throbbing dick, he would not let her know about his distress. He would not appear weak in front of a woman such as her.
He laid himself back and stared up at the ceiling, “enter.” The door slid open and she closed the door behind her but he didn’t bother to look at her yet, he was content to think of the raven haired human that would’ve caressed his cheek to give him comfort.
“You called for me my lord,” her soft voice held the edge of a growl to it. He turned his head slightly and stared at her. Kiyomi was a beautiful demoness, her long silver hair flowed around her like a flowing river of ice, her lavender eyes were accented by long black lashes. She stood poised and elegant in a flowing kimono sky blue kimono that hid what little curves her tall frame had.
He rose from his bed and stalked over toward her slowly, his fingers flexing in anticipation. Her cool scent spiked with arousal and his cock twitched in response. He growled low as he pulled her close. She immediately tilted her head to the side in submission. Her hands moved to untie her obi as she arched into his touch and pressed her slender body up against him.
The fabric rubbed against his sore flesh and he held back a hiss of pain. He pushed her back and tore through the silk that blocked him from her soft skin. The obi fell to the floor in scraps and he quickly parted the layers of cloth until his fingers found her skin. She shuddered under his touch, “yes my lord,” she called softly.
His fingers slipped between her legs as he tried to push away the distaste he felt as she mewled to his touch and her claws travelled over if skin. The familiar burn consumed his body as her delicate hand wrapped around his cock and she began to stroke him. He didn’t care for the meaningless foreplay however, the sooner he was inside her the better.
“Get on your hands and knees,” he growled.
Kiyomi obediently moved onto the bed with long graceful movements as she presented herself for the powerful demon. He closed his eyes for a moment as an image of Kagome filled his head. Her small body on the ground by the hot spring raised up for him as she looked over her shoulder at him with a playful smile on her lips and happiness dancing in her eyes.
He shook his head, she made her choice known and it wasn’t him.
Sesshomaru moved to the bed and spread her legs wider as he positioned himself at the glistening entrance to relief. He let his mind drift as his body slammed into the bitch beneath him.
****************************************
The cool air brushed along Kagome’s skin and she turned to seek out Sesshomaru’s warmth. Her eyes flew open when she met her yellow pack instead of the strong demon she sought. She sat up and pulled the blanket around her as she searched the dimly light field.
He was gone and so were his swords, she pushed her aura out as far as she could but still she couldn’t find him. “Damn it you stupid youkai,” she whispered and held the blanket closer as she tried to block out the pain in her chest as she tried to understand what made him leave her alone while she slept.
Her eyes lifted to the dark sky as if the stars and moon could tell her what they witnessed that night but, she knew they would hold their secrets. Maybe his blood had cooled enough that he regained his senses and realized what they had done. Maybe he regretted being with a human after all.
She looked down at her dirty hands, was she so easy to just pass over? First Inuyasha and now Sesshomaru, what had she been thinking? He turned from her once of course he was going to leave her again. She had hoped that they could talk in the morning, she would’ve latched onto his legs to keep him from leaving before they could talk about what was going on between them. But she supposed his departure was answer enough, nothing.
She meant nothing to him but a means to ease his pain and she had done it gladly. She couldn’t turn away from him even if it meant enduring pain she swore she would never feel again.
Taking a deep breath she got up, her muscles screamed in protest and the pain on her hip made her limp slightly as she had predicted. She found her bra and sweater and quickly put them on as she continued back to the tree he had pinned her to. She pulled on her underwear and pants and slung her quiver and bow across her back. The claw marks on her hip pulled uncomfortably and itched against the rough fabric but there was nothing she could do at the moment except ignore the discomfort.
She wouldn’t regret their actions even if he did, she would treasure them for the rest of her life and always remember how he held her gently as she drifted to sleep. Her hands curled into fists and she squeezed her eyes shut to block the tears from spilling down her cheeks.
What had changed while she slept? She deserved an explanation at least. She wouldn’t have stopped him if he told her he wanted to leave. It would’ve hurt but just as she knew he would never force her to stay he should’ve known she would do the same. Was it so shameful to be with a human that he wouldn’t even give her an explanation?
Once she was sure she wouldn’t cry she went back to collect her bag and made her way toward her friends camp while she tried to make sense of it.
Soft snores from Miroku and Shippo filled the small camp as Kagome set down her bag by Shippo before she placed a few logs onto the dying fire. She wasn’t going to get anymore sleep tonight which was probably a good thing since Naraku had a minion in the area, granted that minion was dead.
“Kagome you’re back,” Sango said softly. “Were you able to purify the poison?”
Kagome nodded and stared into the fire, “Inuyasha should be fine in the morning he didn’t touch it so I don’t think the effects will last too long.” She heard the rustle of fabric and waited for Sango to sit by her at the fire. “He came back,” she whispered and her heart clenched.
Sango turned to look at her solemn friend. She could already guess that Sesshomaru had left since the miko was here at the camp. “Would you like to talk about it?”
Kagome shrugged, “yes and no.”
Sango pulled her into a hug and felt Kagome tremble in her arms, she ran her hand through Kagome’s hair, trying to avoid the small tangles. “Tell me what happened Kagome you know it will make you feel better.”
Kagome hesitantly recounted what happened after she left Inuyasha up until she fell asleep in Sesshomaru’s arm and by the end of it she was crying softly. “I don’t understand why he just left, I mean sure he does that a lot but he was so different when we were alone. He was so tender and careful with me. I was a fool though Sango, I shouldn’t have let myself hope that it would end any differently.”
“Kagome did you get to talk to him about this morning?” Sango asked gently.
Kagome blushed and shook her head, “we were a little preoccupied.”
Sango sighed and pulled back from Kagome, she waited as her friend dried her tears before she continued. “That is probably why he left, you told him this morning that you wouldn’t leave us. Do you really think that he wanted to hear that again?”
“So he just left?” Kagome looked into Sango’s brown eyes and felt anger begin to rise inside her.
“Pride is a very powerful emotion Kagome,” Sango answered.
“It’s a stupid emotion is you ask me,” Kagome grumbled. “Why can’t he understand that I can’t choose? I promised Inuyasha I would stay with him. Yes I know he has Kikyo but we are all in this together for better or worse I have a duty to do and you guys are like family to me. I’m not going to just up and leave you guys to go gallivanting around Japan after the same enemy, that’s just stupid.”
Sango glanced over at Miroku for a moment and watched him sleep softly against Kilala. There were days when she couldn’t believe he had finally given up pursuing other women for her. The jealousy she used to feel as he chased after every beautiful woman he came across used to eat away at her. He still looked sometimes. She would never be able to turn him away from his adoration of the female body but she knew at the end of the day she was the one he treasured. She went to sleep in his arms and woke up the same way.
She wanted Kagome to know the same feeling of love and security that Kagome had helped her find. “I think it is time for you to take your own advice Kagome.”
Kagome blinked, “eh?” she looked over at Miroku as well. “What advice would that be?”
Sango turned back to Kagome, “talk to him of course. You can’t wait for him to wake up and smell the roses. Besides you guys are already halfway there anyway.”
“It’s not that simple,” she knew she didn’t have to elaborate. Miroku obviously loved Sango and they had been travelling together for years. “Inuyasha doesn’t hate Miroku,” and he didn’t hate her kind, Sango didn’t come from another time. She could keep listing the obstacles but each one threatened to overwhelm her and leave her without any hope at all.
“I don’t think he hates Sesshomaru either. I’m not saying it will be easy but maybe you could help bridge the gap between them. I’m sure you could do it.” She watched Kagome before adding, “if you think he is worth it.”
“I think he is and it scares me, what if he just got tired of me? What if he left because he realized it was a mistake. He was forced into this mess by Naraku and now maybe the poison is gone and he wants nothing to do with me.” She looked down at her hands and noticed her watch, it was four thirty in the morning. She bit her lower lip absently as she tried to figure out how long it had been since they had been together, “I hope he’s alright.”
Logically she knew the poison wasn’t done with him, he had said he had another month left before he encountered the poison again. She couldn’t bear to think that he was out there somewhere suffering again because he was too prideful to stay with her.
Sango felt helpless watching Kagome struggle with her worry for Inuyasha’s brother after he had just abandoned her. “We should get some rest Inuyasha is not going to go easy on us once he finds out that the lead was a dead end.”
Kagome nodded, “your right he’s going to be royally pissed. Oh God!” Kagome grabbed Sango’s arm, panic clearly written on her face. “He’s going to smell us!”
Sango clamped her free hand over Kagome’s mouth, “Shhhh! Do you want to wake them up?” Kagome shook her head frantically, her eyes were wide with fear. Slowly Sango moved her hand away from the distraught girl’s mouth. “Now, I don’t have anything to dull his sense of smell but if we can convince him that proceeding toward the poison would only put him back in an embarrassing situation perhaps we can steer him around the area.”
“I hope so, oh Sango I need to bathe and wash my clothes. I’m so stupid. Why didn’t I think about that? Last night we were by the hot spring and I knew Inuyasha wouldn’t pass through there but I don’t remember passing a stream or anything recently.” Kagome immediately began to dig through her bag for a change of clothes and her bathing supplies.
“There isn’t any place to bathe Kagome, just change your clothes and put on some of your perfume,” Sango instructed her.
Kagome immediately jogged into the woods and quickly changed her clothes stuffing the dirty ones into a plastic bag. She walked back into the camp and stuffed the clothes into the bottom of the bag and covered it up with the green blanket. Once she was sure the olfactory evidence was well hidden she spritzed herself with her apple blossom body spray a few times before she sat back next to Sango.
It was the best she could do at the moment and she tried to calm down. Taking slow deep breaths she forced her heart back to a normal pace. If she showed her nerves Inuyasha would definitely know something was up and there was no way she could blame it all on his little display last night.
“You should get some more sleep Sango as you said we are going to be dealing with the slave driver in the morning,” Kagome tried to smile but her lips could only twitch.
“What about you?”
Kagome shook her head, “I won’t be able to sleep I’m too worried. Besides someone should keep watch I don’t trust Naraku.”
Sango stood up, knowing she had made up her mind. “I’m sure it will work out,” she put her hand on Kagome’s shoulder and squeezed it gently before she walked back over to Miroku and Kilala. As she laid down Miroku pulled her against him and kissed her neck. “You heard?” She whispered.
Miroku nodded, “I will speak with her tomorrow.”
Sango let her eyes drift closed, “I love you.”
“I love you too,” Miroku whispered and laid another silent kiss on her neck.
Together they drifted back to sleep while Kagome stared into the fire oblivious to everything around her as she tried to figure out what she would do when they ran into Sesshomaru again. It was only a matter of time before they crossed paths again though secretly she hoped that they would encounter each other for a different reason then a common enemy.
If only she had stayed.
*************************************
He lay in his bed staring at the ceiling again. It was a boring ceiling, the dark wood held small imperfections he had never noticed before and didn’t really care about now. His blood was cool again but it wouldn’t last and he had to figure out away to control it when it rose again.
If he continued to call on Kiyomi she would get the wrong idea and the power hungry bitch would try to elevate her status. That was something he would not stand for and then he would need to find a new concubine to take her place.
The thought of losing Kiyomi was nothing but an annoyance. She had left a few minutes ago. Once he was done with her he gave her a robe and told her to leave him. It wasn’t anything unusual for him he didn’t cuddle after sex; there was no reason for it.
Unless it was Kagome. His eyes slid shut, the mere thought of her made his chest ache. He felt hollow inside and he knew why. It was the miko’s fault.
He had been right, she had ruined him for anyone else. No one could send him so such heights of pleasure as she could and no one else could compel him to hold them as they enjoyed the warm afterglow.
There wasn’t even an afterglow now, just a sense of release as his blood cooled and he could think again. And now he was wasting valuable time pining for a woman that preferred his brother’s company. It was pathetic, something he never thought to call himself before.
It took him a few moments to rise from his bed but once he was on his feet he quickly got dressed in his usual attire and slid his swords through his obi. His right shoulder felt odd without the familiar weight of his pelt but he would get used to it soon enough.
He left his home as quickly and silently as he had come and left Rin, Jaken and Ah-Un behind. He couldn’t fathom being around them when the poison attempted to take over again. The sun was beginning to rise over the hills and he flew towards it. He would have to go back to the clearing in order to pick up Naraku’s trail, it there was even a trail.
Naraku normally didn’t send out a minion unless they his enemies were getting too close to discovering something. That had to be the reason he had sent that vile monstrosity to him. He would continue his heading from a month ago and keep a vigilant eye for whatever Naraku thought was important enough to hide.
The first stirrings of the poison began to hum through him and he forcefully pushed it down. He had wasted enough time as it was. He hoped her group left early. He knew if he saw her it would be harder to resist the poison. And if he was truly honest with himself it would be hard to resist her.

Please review, your comments are very helpful and I truly enjoy reading what you guys think. I’ve decided since the themes of each chapter come from a song I will post the lyrics at the end of each chapter.
Money Talk lyrics
I'll come in your car to talk business,
No business, no money talk.
Zero in on my full of intentions,
Think you got it because you pulled up and stopped.
If money is the root of all evil,
I'm begging at the feet of the devil.
Talk to me please,
Money talk to me.
Twenty gets you straight,
Forty gets you other,
Think of what a hundred could do.
I've been gifted with the thing that you want,
Who's better than who.
Never underestimate a woman like me.
The kids have got to eat,
And man, that's reality, you see.
Money talk to me.
You're so deluded,
You think that I'm real.
You pass your hormones off as love,
For five minutes you feel.
You can buy a squeegy little silicone sack,
But it won't feed the world like the ones that I pack naturally.
Money talk to me.
Thank you everyone for your reviews and I apologize in advance, if you are like me you probably won’t like the beginning of this chapter.
