Blood Binding

~ Author’s Notes
I do not own Inuyasha or any of its characters. I do not write this for money, merely enjoyment. Inubiki is my own creation.
Sorry it took longer then I planned to get the third chapter written. I’m still recovering from some psychological issues involving writing... but that’s not important. College is working to break my aversion to writing.
I apologize if Kouga is a little out of character. I’m trying. And remember, this is probably about 150 years before the Fuedal Era 'Present' in the anime/manga. And yes, I know Ayame doesn't exist in the manga, and I usually tend to follow the manga more then the anime, but eh.. The story flows on it's own...
And no - Kouga doesn't know her proper name yet - he just knows her as "Biki".

~ Answering Reviews:
Merely Truth – All will be explained in coming chapters. Basically, this story is designed to explain why Kouga said to the inu-tachi when they first met “I hate the small of dogs”. As I said, in time all will be explained. Probably around chapter 5.

Last Chapter:
The image before him was too much for him to resist. He leaned forward and gently brushed his lips over her eyes as she closed them before settling upon her own petal soft lips…

Chapter 3: Blood Binding

`Biki's eyes snapped open when his lips settled upon her, shocked. Her gaze met his, the fear that had been there a moment before replaced by shock and something else.

Lifting his head, Kouga tilted his head in side as if in question, before gently touching her cheek. “There... see, everything is all right, ‘Biki.” He assured her softly before dipping his head back down to catch her lips.

He thought about the young female wolf in the Northern Tribe who constantly seemed to be getting herself into trouble and - like the honorable wolf he had been raised to be - he always had to rescue her, and gave a soft growl at himself. He realized that his kiss was almost bruising when the female beneath him whimpered softly, and gentled it, working his lips against hers tenderly.

He knew Lord Katsuyo would not hold him to a vow made to cheer a pup up, especially a pup who was more then a century his junior. He couldn’t help but wonder about his father’s opinion of a hanyou.

Then again, he had witnessed that the girl had been taught Shinto ‘magic’ and while she couldn't purify, she seemed to be able to at least use wards. She was as close to a miko as anyone with demon blood could manage – That kind of power could prove useful with the issues the Pack was having with the Birds of Paradise.

Turning his attention back to the female beneath him, he mentally gave a smug smirk at the soft little sounds she was making and trailed his tongue over the seam of her lips. When she consented and parted her lips, even hesitantly, he rumbled in approval and deepened the kiss – plundering her innocent mouth with his tongue, learning her taste.

A moment or two passed before her mind hazed enough at the sensations he was causing within her and she responded, boldly battling his tongue with her own until he lifted his head once again.

Resting his forehead against hers, he panted softly, trying to reign in his blood beast which screamed to dominate the female beneath him who responded so willingly. “Open your eyes, ‘Biki…” he said, dipping his head down to nuzzling his cheek to hers.

When she opened her eyes, he couldn’t help the smug smirk that spread across his lips at the glazed and desire-filled look in her eyes.

“…..Kouga-sama…?” She murmured, confused at the situation in general.

“Shh.” He said, before he rolled onto his side, pulling her with him, snuggling her to his side. The confusion in her voice told him now was not the time to continue. No…. but soon. Soon his father would have pups to spoil again…. “Just relax. Nothing will harm you.”

Inubiki rolled with him, regarding him in continued confusion, but nodded at his words. “H..hai.” she murmured and laid her head on his shoulder. “…Sumimasen.” She said after a long silence.

“For what?” came the wolf’s confused response.

She tilted her head to look at his face without lifting it. “…For failing in tracking. I got spooked.” She admitted, before burying her face against his chest in shame.

He chuckled softly and stroked her hair and back. “Don’t worry about it. No one gets it the first time. You just need practice, that’s all.” He said confidently, nuzzling the top of her head.

“If you say so…” She didn’t sound convinced.

When the sun began to set, the ookami prince had taken the hanyou maiden back to her shrine and left with a promise to see her again soon before leaving quickly. Neither of them wanted the shrine priest to know about their friendship. He gave Inubiki a hard enough time with his belief that she had to repent for her mother’s sins – Whelping with a demon’s child, and then abandoning the child.

Stepping into the hut behind the shrine where she lived with the priest, she was confronted by a very ticked off old man.
“Where have you been!?” he demanded, although his anger came from being worried about the girl who he’d raised. Half-Demon she might be, but he still had raised her.

“I got lost..” She said, cowering back from him. It was a legitimate excuse. Her guardian knew very well she had a horrid sense of direction – or at least she HAD had a horrid sense. She’d gotten better over the years, but kept that knowledge to herself.

He narrowed his eyes and frowns. “Are you telling me the truth?! I felt a demon’s presence arrive with yours! Who were you with?!” He demanded, grabbing her wrist and pulling her into the hut before pushing her towards the corner where her bedroll was kept.

Inubiki stumbled forward and fell against the wall then to her knees, turning to look at the priest in fear. She’d never been afraid of the priest before, but now she was. “No one I swear!” she lied. “Please, sensei, you’re scaring me!” she said, lifting her arms to cover her head and cowered.

He frowned deepened but forced himself to calm. Inubiki had never lied to him before. He was all she had, and she knew it. Neither of them knew what would happen to her once he died, and he prayed he had taught her well enough to be able to at the least survive.

“….Alright, my dear.” He said, forcing himself to calm. Kneeling beside her, he gently stroked her head between her ears, knowing it helped calm her. “Shh. I’m sorry, Inubiki. I was just worried about you… but I think it’s time we do something to help protect you.”

Inubiki looked up at him uncertainly, but closed her eyes as she slowly relaxed. “Okay…” she said, not really understanding.

“Take off your socks and gloves.” He ordered gently as he got up and went to his own section of the hut and picked up a small wooden box where he kept his ofuda. Returning to her, he knelt beside her and opened the box.

Uncertainly, she did as she was told, exposing the slender and pale skin of her feet and hands. “…? What are you going to do, Sensei?” she inquires curiously.

“I’m going to do what I can to protect you. Even though you’re a hanyou, you still have a type of demonic energy that surrounds you. It alerts demons and other priests or miko to your presence. I’m going to subdue that energy so as long as you hide your ears, people will think you are human. This will also subdue your scent, further protecting you.” He explained. “Turn your back to me and expose your back, my dear.”

Inubiki blinked at this last request and arched a brow, but turned away from him, carefully maneuvering her clothing to expose her back.
Her ear swivled back when she heard him murmer a soft prayer, then cried out as an ofuda came in contact with her spinal column. Her ears pinned back in pain as she cried out. After a moment, the energy of the priest’s ofuda stopped fighting with hers and she found herself feeling a bit weaker.

Opening her eyes, she whimpered softly in confusion, looking over her shoulder at the priest. At his nod, she straightened her kasode before turning to face him once more.

“Alright, let me see your ankles.”

Inubiki gave another uncertain whimper.

“Shh.. I know, Inubiki, but this is for your own protection.” He promised.

Warily, she shifted off her knees and stretched her legs out, drawing the cloth of her hakama up.

Gently, he patted her covered knee, before charging two more ofuda. Quickly, before she could flinch away, he placed both – wrapping one around each ankle – and was rewarded by his holy energy and his ward’s youki waring for a moment before the ofuda won. The girl’s carefully taken care of toenails smoothed out and lost their claw-like quality.

While the energy warred, she shook visibly in pain, before collapsing onto her side with another whimper. She twitched lightly on the floor, trying to curl up into a ball.

“Shh… We’re almost done, my dear.” He promised, gently stroking her hair to help her calm down.

When she started to relax again, he helped her sit up. “How are you feeling?” He asked, letting her lean against him and rubbed her back gently like a father might when trying to calm his child.

Opening her eyes, her brows still knitted together. “Weak. Like during the dark of the moon… maybe a little stronger.” She said, weakly lifting her head to look up at his head. She understood why he wanted her to remove her gloves. Taking a deep breath, she pushed her sleeves up and held out her hands, the inside of her wrists held up.

He smiled. “You always make me proud of you, my dear.” He assured her, clasping her hands a moment, before pulling out another two ofuda out and charged them. Once charged, he placed them onto her wrists, wrapping them over her skin.

Her reaction wasn’t as strong, since most of her youki was already bound, but she did whimper. He gathered her close and rubbed her back again, rocking her gently. “Shhh.. shhh.. It is okay, ‘Biki. You’ll be safe now.” He promised. “Why don’t you rest?” he suggested, pushing her away gently and reaching up to brush her bangs from her eyes.

Inubiki nodded weakly, unable to look at him. She didn’t understand how making her weaker would protect her, but she trusted the old priest – he was really all she had, after all. “Okay, sensei.” She murmured softly, before pulling away completely and turning to unroll her bedroll. Once done, she smoothed out her thin blanket then climbed under it. She didn’t feel like removing her hakama and switching into a sleeping yukata – she’d beat the dirt and dust out of her clothing tomorrow.

Her last thought before sleep claimed her was a prayer that Kouga-kun wouldn’t hate her for bending to the priest’s wishes on this.
