Don't Be Afraid, These Arms Will Keep You Safe Tonight

I'm Here For You

Chapter 4--- “Don't Be Afraid, These Arms Will Keep You Safe Tonight”

Inuyasha could already feel the pent up rage beginning to burn inside of him as he and Kagome neared the mountains where Kouga resided. His stomach twisted and turned at the thought of seeing the wolf again. It almost made him want to puke. But this time, he had a form of solace to look forward to. If he needed to, he would definitely make use of Ginta's offer. He would explain everything; his fears, his sadness, and even his budding feelings for the caring wolf.

The inu's sensitive ears picked up the sound of a crackling fire and incomprehensible chatter as they approached the entrance to the main cave.

“Kouga!” Kagome shouted happily as they stepped inside. Almost immediately, Kouga ran up to greet her, followed by Ginta and Hakkaku.

Ginta blinked at Inuyasha, surprised to see him again so soon; and even more surprised that the hanyou looked away from him and, if Ginta wasn't mistaken, blushed. The wolf did a double-take and discovered that the hanyou really wasn't blushing, but he definitely looked upset over something. As much as part of him wanted to believe that the hanyou was nervous to be around him in the same way that somebody with a crush on him would be, it was obvious that Inuyasha hated being in Kouga's home.

“Thank you so much for the sweets, Kagome,” Kouga said with a soft smile before kissing the human tenderly and teasingly on the cheek. His eyes briefly flicked over to the half-demon, wanting to make sure that Inuyasha saw what he was doing.

He had seen it. Out of the corner of his eye. With a growl, Inuyasha turned and squared off against the leader of the wolf demon tribe. “What the Hell do you think you're doing, wolf?”

Before Kouga could respond, Kagome jumped in. “It was just a small peck, Inuyasha. Geez, don't be so dramatic,” she giggled.

The half-demon let out a another growl full of rage. She had laughed at his pain, acting innocent and ignorant of what everybody knew was true: that she had feelings for the wolf. *Don't be so dramatic,* Inuyasha repeated in his mind. How could she be so condescending toward him? Making little of his anger, like his feelings didn't matter. It wasn't worth it anymore. It wasn't worth the constant battles with the wolf-demon, trying to defend the love that only he felt. He didn't need her. He had gone his whole life with nobody else by his side, and he didn't need anybody now. His eyes temporarily met Ginta's. *I don't need anybody to talk to either,* he thought with a frown. Without another word, the man stormed off into the bitter-cold outdoors.

Kouga grinned and took Kagome into his arms. “That's a good idea, why don't you two leave as well so that my woman and I can share this food,” he said, addressing his pack-mates.

Ginta knew what was going to happen; with Inuyasha gone, nothing was stopping he and Kagome from fucking like rabbits-- which everybody knew was what they wanted to do. Nevertheless, he reluctantly obliged his pack-leader and followed Hakkaku out of the cave. He looked around the immediate area; Inuyasha was nowhere in sight. *Damn...* he said inwardly. Something had happened in that cave, Inuyasha didn't respond how he normally would. He needed to find the hanyou and figure out what was going on. “Um... did you hear Kouga say something about needing water?” Ginta asked, thinking on his feet. He needed a chance to talk to the hanyou alone; and although he hated lying to his closest friend, it was something that he needed to do.

Hakkaku gave him a puzzled look. “No, I didn't hear anything,” he said and scratched his head.

“I could've sworn he said something about it right as we left. I'll head down to the river and get him some just in case.”

“Alright, I'll go with you,” the blond suggested.

“No,” Ginta spat out quickly, wanting to quickly end the conversation without wasting time to find Inuyasha. “You stay here in case Kouga needs something else.”

“Okay. Be careful and don't freeze to death,” Hakkaku laughed.

In a heartbeat, Ginta ran off into the nearby woods, following the lingering scent of the half-demon. His legs moved frantically, causing him to stumble and even fall into the thin layer of snow a couple of times. He just had to find Inuyasha before something happened to him. He feared that Kagome's actions may have pushed the hanyou over the edge, and there could be a chance that Inuyasha would do something to hurt himself. He stopped to catch his breath and wrapped his arms around his stomach, shivering. The cold air was beginning to get to him. It numbed his feet, making it harder to run, and congested his sinuses, making it difficult to pick up the inu's scent. He thought about giving up until his eyes caught a glimpse of red in the distance. With an exasperated grunt, he ran toward the man, willing his body to keep going. “Inuyasha!” he yelled out between breathless pants. It seemed as though the hanyou wasn't running, which was good for Ginta; however, he was still moving away from the wolf at a brisk pace.

When he finally caught up to the silver-haired male, he remained a few feet behind him and matched the speed of Inuyasha' steps. “Inuyasha, it's going to be alright,” he tried to explain. It felt pointless to talk to the back of the half-demon's head, but he had to try to get through the man's brewing anger and reach his broken heart. “Inuyasha, please listen to me,” he cried out and stumbled slightly over his numb and fatigued legs. He picked himself back up and sped up his movement to make up the ground he lost. Feeling his eyes beginning to tear up, he continued his jog toward the hanyou and called out again, “Inuya-”

Ginta blinked; he could almost hear the frantic beat of his heart. The numbness in his limbs seemed to spread to the rest of his body and filled him with comforting heat. He couldn't move, he couldn't speak, and he knew that he wouldn't be able to stand if...

If it wasn't for Inuyasha's arms holding him tightly, he would surely fall to the ground. Ironically enough, it was the hanyou's lips that caused Ginta to seemingly lose all strength in his legs in the first place. Sure the ookami wanted the dog-demon to stop running away and pay attention to him, but he never expected Inuyasha to spin around and kiss him. The shy male stared into the half-demon's golden eyes with wonder.

Upon seeing Ginta's shocked expression, Inuyasha quickly broke the kiss, mumbled a curse under his breath, and began to walk away again.

Ginta snapped back into reality and quickly pursued the hanyou. “Wait!” Ginta shouted, running in front of Inuyasha and placing shaky hands on his shoulders. “I don't want you to,” he paused to gaze into the other's eyes, trying to figure out whether it was fear or sadness being expressed in them, “go...”

“Go away, wolf,” Inuyasha muttered and pushed Ginta out of his way.

The youkai felt tears well up in his eyes again. Inuyasha didn't really want him to leave, did he? After wiping his eyes, he ran up and grabbed the hanyou's arm. “Please, I want to talk to you.” A soft whimper of sadness escaped him when Inuyasha pulled his arm away. He bit his lip hard, trying to stop himself from breaking down and sobbing. Making another attempt to connect with the hanyou, he jumped in front of him again. His hands rested gently on Inuyasha's tense shoulders. He stared intently into the gleaming golden eyes of his friend. It was obvious that Inuyasha was trying to force himself to express anger and frustration through his eyes, but all that shone through was despair and sorrow. Tears came to Ginta's eyes once more, but he didn't wipe them away this time. He wanted to show Inuyasha that he could feel the hanyou's pain, and that it killed him to see Inuyasha so torn up. He felt the half-breed relax and sigh. With a soft, barely noticeable smile, Ginta leaned in, wrapped his arms around Inuyasha's neck, and placed his lips on the hanyou's.

Inuyasha's eyes went wide and he almost pushed the male away out of instinct. Instead, he slowly realized that this was what he wanted: to have someone share the desire that he felt. Somebody had actually cared enough to come after him. He slipped his arms around the ookami's waist, holding him tightly at the small of his back.

Ginta broke the kiss and sighed calmly as he lowered his head onto the hanyou's comforting shoulder, enjoying the warmth being brought to his form. They stood there for a few minutes, neither knowing how to break the cold silence of the winter air surrounding them. After another minute, Ginta finally built up the courage to say something; he needed to know why the half-demon had kissed him. “Inuyasha,” Gin muttered, pulling his bottom lip from its sticky bond with the red kimono. How embarrassing, he had actually been drooling. “What does this mean?”

Inuyasha remained silent for a couple of minutes, pondering his answer before sighing and pulling back from the male. “To put it simply, it means that I've realized that Kagome will never settle for me. I want to completely move on, and you're the only other person who's ever really cared about me. I don't want to love somebody who doesn't give a shit about me. I'd rather have somebody who truly cares for me.”

*But I just wanted to be friends,* Ginta thought. Then the emotions from the dreams that he had been having came back to him and he remembered how the kiss had felt. *No, that's not true,* he realized, *I do like Inuyasha. I want to be with him.* He blushed as the memories replayed in his mind, remembering how it felt to have Inuyasha on top of him. The mental images caused him to shift uncomfortably as he tried to hide his growing arousal.

Inuyasha noticed the wolf shuffling and, realizing how little clothing Ginta was wearing, thought that it was because of the cold. Looking around, he spotted a large tree and without saying a word, he walked over to it and cleared away a small circle of snow with his feet, leaving only a patch of cold, damp grass. He plopped down and sat back against the thick trunk of the tree, his legs spread out. With a smile, he motioned for Ginta to sit with him.

The wolf tried to will himself not to blush, but he failed miserably. He stared at the ground as he slowly stepped toward Inuyasha. He didn't want Inuyasha to think of his embarrassment as a weakness, although he did consider himself to be weak; both physically and emotionally. It scared him a bit since the hanyou seemed like the type of person who would want a strong mate.

He sighed as he reached Inuyasha and stood awkwardly beside him, unsure of what was desired of him. A hand firmly gripped his wrist and pulled him down into the inu's lap. With a smile, Ginta snuggled up against the half-demon's chest and wrapped his arms around the man's waist. He listened to Inuyasha's heartbeat and breathed deeply, taking in the mixed scent of human and demon essence which smelled strange to him, but wasn't at all displeasing. There was another scent mixed in that was oddly familiar, but Ginta couldn't determine what it was. *Is it Kagome's?* he wondered and sniffed again. *No, that's not her's... A canine scent?... No, he does have that, but that's not it... It almost smells like Kouga did when I left the den...* The answer struck him, making him gasp softly which in turn alerted Inuyasha. *He's aroused!*

“How do you manage not to freeze in the winter-- wearing such skimpy clothes?”

The question caught the wolf off-guard. He looked up at Inuyasha, and then down at his attire, his eyes falling on a very noticeable bulge in his fur kilt. Ginta's face turned red as quickly as a traitorous man turns his loyalty. He shifted his legs a bit, trying to be subtle about hiding his erection.

It was way too late for that, Inuyasha had caught the scent of the ookami's libido back when they were both still standing. The smell of the pheromones coming from the youkai sent the hanyou's mind in a brief state of disgust; it wasn't in the essence of a male demon to lust after another male. Although his nature yelled at him to not fall in love with another man, he knew it would be alright if he got Ginta to submit to him. That was why he had forced the wolf to lay on his chest, it was a compliant enough action to please his instinct. Even with his pride feeling satisfied, he still refused to glance down at Ginta's groin, despite his reluctant curiosity to do so. The ookami's fidgeting was beginning to make him rather uncomfortable though. *Should I tell him not to worry about hiding it? No... that would make him think that it was okay for him to be aroused around me... What am I saying? It's fine for him to be aroused, but I just... don't want to smell it.* Inuyasha sighed inwardly, part of him knowing how ridiculous that sounded, the other part telling him to put Ginta in his place. His mind spun as his human side argued with his demon side. *That's not possible though, there's no way to hide the smell... Damn it, this isn't going to work out.* He snapped out of his thoughts, sure that he had heard his name. He glanced down at Ginta, staring into concerned azure eyes.

“Are you okay? You're really quiet.”

Inuyasha smiled at the wolf. *I can't believe I'm fighting with myself over this. Male or not, I want him because he cares about me.* He gave a nod and replied, “Yeah, I'm alright.” He sighed to himself again. *Instead of focusing on his gender, I need to try to get to know him better.* After giving Ginta a tight hug, he changed the conversation, “So I'm curious, what is it that you want most in this world?”

The demon smiled up at Inuyasha, delighted that he had taken an interest in him. Rubbing up against the hanyou's chest, he replied, “For everyone around me to be happy.”

~*~

The little amount of sunlight still left in the sky cast an orange hue in the horizon, slowly ushering in what was expected to be a cold night. Neither canine could believe that they had talked the day away, but they enjoyed every second of it. Inuyasha had explained his past: about his mother's death, about being shunned as a child, anything that he could think of. It was the sort of history that Ginta expected a half-demon to have. On the other hand, the story of Ginta's adolescence came as a complete shock to Inuyasha. He learned that the youkai was not born into his pack; rather, Kouga's father (it turned out that Kouga was too young lead the tribe at the time) had sort of adopted Ginta into the tribe. The ookami knew nothing about his real parents or his original home. The astonishment of hearing about the wolf's lonely childhood was nothing compared to what Ginta had mentioned later.

“Raped?” Inuyasha asked, hoping he had heard wrong.

Ginta didn't reply verbally; instead, he pressed himself closer to Inuyasha and let the tears fall from his eyes.

“But... But...” the hanyou stammered, his anger leaving him at a loss of words. “B-But those panther demons took you in as part of their family. They were protecting you, what happened?”

The wolf shrugged weakly. “A few of them were horny and... I guess since I was younger and different from them, it made sense to use me to fulfill their desires.”

Inuyasha held Ginta tighter, staring angrily off into the distance, suddenly hating every panther demon in the world. “That's horrible...” he muttered.

“The only thing I regret,” Ginta sighed shamefully, “is that I stuck around and allowed it to happen. I figure that I would be loved and taken care of as long as I made them happy.”

“Never worry about making people happy; your own well-being is more important than some bastard's sexual desires,” he said sternly.

“I'm fine with being selfless when it comes to those close to me. I'd do almost anything for Kouga and Hakkaku... and you,” he added with a blush.

The inu frowned. “You don't have to make anybody happy. Even if you didn't do anything for me ever again, I would still care for you,” he explained before sighing. Then and there, he promised himself that he would do everything to protect Ginta and make sure that nobody took advantage of the wolf ever again.

A soft groan from Inuyasha interrupted the silence that had fallen on the two men for the last half hour. Ginta, whose head was lying comfortably on the hanyou's lap, raised an eyebrow. “Everything alright?” he asked softly.

Inuyasha frantically searched the darkening sky dreading that he would find what was causing the familiar feeling of nausea in his stomach. His whole body tingled with waves of queasiness, his fingers, toes, ears and mouth throbbed with dull pain, and he felt like he was losing strength. “Damn,” he cursed under his breath. There it was, in the night sky, the dark silhouette of the new moon. Between the stress with Kagome and the confusion with Ginta, he had lost track of the days.

The wolf's eyes went wide as he watched silver hair become darker with the night, cute triangle-shaped ears seemingly melted away and were replaced by human ears a few inches below, and the man's scent changed considerably. He remembered seeing this happen to the hanyou before, but seeing it up close was a breathtaking experience. He noticed Inuyasha scowling, obviously angry to have transformed into a human. *Poor Inuyasha, he must feel so vulnerable when this happens.* Without a hint of warning, the ookami sat up in the other male's lap and pressed his lips tightly against the ebony-haired man's. Perhaps it was partly due to his demonic instinct telling him to go against his usual shy nature and take advantage of the human, but Ginta wanted his friend to feel safe with him around.

Shocked out of his frustration, Inuyasha kissed back passionately and, for the first time, felt completely comfortable doing so. With his demon half absent for the night, he was free to explore his feelings for Ginta without a second thought. His tongue briefly traveled around the boy's mouth, savoring the taste and feel of the wolf. Hesitantly breaking the kiss, he removed the fur vest and armor from his friend's chest and traced his tongue and fingertips around every inch of skin that he could find. Ginta's soft moans met Inuyasha's ears like a gentle song that invigorated him to keep going. He leaned down and licked at the demon's torso, his mouth only able to reach the base of the pale man's ribcage. Moving back up, he focused on a light-pink nipple, licking and suckling on it lovingly. He felt Ginta's fingers become tangled in his hair, pulling lightly as the short-haired demon cried out. He loved how passionate Ginta seemed, his enthusiasm encouraged Inuyasha to continue. Bringing the wolf happiness was his main goal at the moment; it was Ginta's turn for someone to care for what he wanted.

The ookami felt like he was in Heaven; it was literally as if his dream had come true. He rest his head on top of Inuyasha's and reached down to undo the ties on the crimson kimono. Once that was done, he pulled it open, revealing the human's torso, and ran his hands up and down the soft, warm skin. He moved his mouth to the lobe of his friend's ear and, between licks and nips, whispered, “I want you, Inuyasha.”

The dark-haired male smiled briefly against Ginta's chest. Part of what he was doing felt so wrong. It seemed almost too soon to make love to the wolf having only really gotten to know him for almost a week. And what if his demon side didn't approve once the new moon was complete? What if he ended up pushing the ookami away once he returned to being a half-demon? Ginta didn't deserve that. On the other hand, his youkai had been becoming more accepting of this affection. Also, if he didn't mate with Ginta at that moment, he might not have the urge to do so for another month. Plus it would be the final step in getting over his affection for Kagome; he was most definitely ready to do that. He smiled again with a slight nod, the pros outweighed the cons; he was going to make Ginta his.

Looking down into his lap, he could see the head of the wolf's throbbing length peeking out from beneath the fur wrapped around his waist. He chuckled softly and gave the ookami's chest a playful lick as he reached down and caressed the smooth member. He smirked when Ginta cried out and clawed hands latched onto his shoulders. After another brief lick, he reached his other hand down and removed the rest of the wolf's clothes, his eyes going wide at what was beneath them. Obviously whatever family Ginta had come from provided him with gifted genes. He gripped the quiet male's member with both hands, and even then, there was still an inch or so of hot flesh left exposed. Inuyasha frowned slightly, his pride taking a hit. Ginta's manhood was surely bigger than his was in his human form. Even in his half-demon form, the wolf still had a good inch and maybe a half over him. *Keh, at least I've got him beat on girth,* he thought with a grin. And he planned on making Ginta feel every inch of his thick member.

“Very impressive, wolf.”

Ginta blushed at the compliment, flattered that he seemed to please Inuyasha. “Let me see you,” he whispered, tugging at the human's pants. His soon-to-be lover allowed him to pull the pants off and reveal one thing that the wolf had been curious about seeing for the last few days. He stared at the dark-haired man's cock for a minute, letting sink in the realization that he was about to pleasure Inuyasha; somebody who at one point seemed impossible to get close to. He hardly expected the hanyou to open up to him about him feelings, much less allow this to happen. Without another second of hesitation, Ginta swooped his head down and took in the thick, pulsing member.

Inuyasha threw his head back, ramming it painfully into the tree behind him. But just as they were both numb to the freezing cold around them, he was numb to the pain; the only thing that mattered between them was each other.

Although the wolf's mouth felt incredible, Inuyasha didn't want to wait another minute to make Ginta his. He took a hold of the ookami's chin and pulled him into a brief, heated kiss. Afterwards, the human scanned the area and decided that it would be rude to lay the demon down in the snow. Looking back to his lover, he caught the youkai's soft lips in his own once more. While doing so, he placed his hands on Ginta's rear and pulled him closer so that the wolf's hips were right above his member. He broke the kiss and looked deep into Ginta's eyes. “Are you ready?” he asked in a quiet tone.

Ginta smiled softly and blushed nervously before replying, “Yes, I'm ready.” He placed his head on the other's shoulder and held his breath as he slowly lowered his body. He exhaled sharply when the wide head of Inuyasha's cock began to slowly pierce its way into his body. The pain began to build exponentially as he slid down the length, causing him to whimper and bite gently into the hanyou's warm shoulder. The hands on his body began to move and tenderly caress him, doing their best to ease the pain. Even though they did alleviate some of the discomfort, Ginta's body could only fit so much of the inu's throbbing arousal. He stopped moving once it was a little over halfway inside of him, feeling certain that he couldn't take in anymore.

Inuyasha nuzzled against the wolf's head, almost scared to move any other part of his body as he did not want to hurt Ginta in any way; however, it was incredibly hard for him not do so considering how tight the youkai's body was. It reminded him of the first time he had sex with Kagome. *Dammit!* his mind yelled at him, trying to push away feelings of remorse, anger, and nausea that threatened to overtake him. The more he thought about what he was doing, the wronger it felt. He would just have to go ahead and finish what he and Ginta had started. He wanted to do it quickly, before guilt could stop him from doing so; and if the pleasure of his manhood resting dormant inside of the tight passage was anything to go by, then the time it would take to reach completion wasn't anything to worry about. Inuyasha lifted the ookami up a bit so that he could thrust himself into his warm hole.

Ginta's head fell heavily on the inu's shoulder and he moaned softly as the hanyou began moving. Whimpers and hot puffs of breath left his lips, lingering just below his lover's ear. His lips moved absentmindedly, forming words but reluctant to put sound behind them. He mouthed over and over again, 'I love you. I love you. I love you.' He wasn't ashamed to admit to himself that he was in love. This was the first time that he had ever had consensual sex, and he mentally adored the hanyou for being so gentle with him. Inuyasha found a way to move deeper into him and forced a whine out of him, vocalizing part of his silent chants. From his position, it was hard to tell whether or not the other male heard or understood him; however, Inuyasha did begin to move quicker, not letting go of his tight embrace around the youkai's waist. He could hear the human's urgent pants growing higher in pitch and it struck him with heavy sadness that this moment wouldn't last forever. Placing his lips on the other's soft neck, he sucked lightly and held the thrusting male closer. A quiet cry released itself from Inuyasha's throat and the hanyou tensed. Ginta smiled and moved his mouth to the half-demon's and kissed him slowly as he felt his hole become coated with warm spurts of cum. He whined softly when the kiss was broken, but wound up smiling again as he gazed into brown, lust-filled eyes. He saw Inuyasha's lips move, but wasn't sure if the words that he heard were imaginary, or if the the hanyou had actually said them. “What?” Ginta whispered, embarrassed for sounding so clueless.

Inuyasha smiled and ran a hand through the wolf's short hair. “I said, I love you too, Ginta.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Major apologies for taking forever for this chapter. On the positive side: it's actually a decent length unlike the first couple chapters lol. But I've put a couple stories on hiatus so that I can really crack down on this one. I have another fic that I'm working on that I'm really excited about- but that one probably won't show up for a while- I'm making sure I put a LOT of work into it.
Gah, spring break's halfway over... lol.
So I'm thinking of a basic outline for the next chapter... and it's reminding me a lot of Romeo and Juliet... I don't like that -_- too cliche lol. So let that be a little teaser-ish tidbit for the next chapter ^_^
tolani::: So sorry for taking so long to update :( Bunch of stuff going on the past couple months that finally cleared up ^_^
cyberpsi3::: ^_^ Thank you. I try to make Kagome look bad every chance I get lol.
peyaluna::: Yep yep, Inu's becoming attracted to him. The only concern there is: is it natural, or is he forcing it? I think the 'I love yous' came a little soon on both parts- lots of mental stuff going on between them @_@
And yay! You got the little 'demonic dominance' part. I hinted about that in the last chapter, and definitely expanded on it in this one... and it will definitely affect things in later chapters.
In response to your latest review for Addiction::: Wow- you're awesome at finding all of these little things that I toss into stories lol. Like the Ginta/Sesshoumaru teaser in Addiction. I actually did pair them up in a different fic entitled "Secret Crush" - but it's a one-shot, so Rin and Jaken hardly show up. Although it would be an interesting idea for a future fanfic. I like the idea of Ginta playing with Rin lol.
ShadowofLight::: ^_^ I'm glad you're enjoying it so far! And it definitely makes me happy to hear that they seem in character to you- I try very hard to keep the out-of-character moments to a minimum. And yay for hating Kagome *high fives*
