Chapter 4
Sorry for the wait but I was finally able to write another chapter…
Chapter 4
Souta kept running as if his life depended on it “how can this be its impossible” the teenager soon reached a large building. It was called ‘Jewel Enterprises’ Souta was sure he had the right address.
The boy headed to the door when two glass doors slid open allowing him to enter. Souta headed to the front desk were a woman was sitting talking on the phone. “Yes that’s fine alright bye, bye” the lady hanged up before looking at the teenager standing their.
“May I help you”, “um I was wondering is this the building were this man works” Souta gave her the card. The secutary looked at the name “yes he is the president of this company basically meaning he owns it” she gave the card back.
“Would it be alright if I could see him” the lady looked at him before laughing “my dear boy this isn’t a fan service were running here where anyone can just go up and see him, unfortunately he’s in a meeting right now maybe come back some other time”.
Souta slammed his hands on the desk, “please I must see him its very important” the lady looked at him. She could see that the teenager really wanted a meeting with her boss but she couldn’t just allow him to visit the president.
“Very well I will inform him that he has a visitor once his meeting is over alright”, Souta thanked her before sitting down. Souta wasn’t sure how long he had been sitting for it was already going on four o’clock.
Finally he was told to go to the very top floor but he wasn’t able to stay long. Souta reached the top floor and headed towards two large double doors. The teenager was rather nervous but he gathered his courage and knocked on the door.
Souta head a voice from the other side saying to come in, he slowly opened the door before entering. The first thing Souta saw was long silver hair “it can’t be Se Se Sesshomaru”.
The man turned around and came face to face with a boy who he hadn’t forgotten not once. “It’s been quite some time Souta” Sesshomaru had a small grin on his face, tears were rolling down the kids face.
“Still see you’re a cry baby”, Souta wiped his eyes why telling him that he wasn’t crying. “How can this be, your suppose to be in the feudal era not here in my time” it was still unbelievable to see Sesshomaru right here in front of him.
“As you are well known that I am a demon or have you forgotten that demons are immortal”. Was this the same Sesshomaru as the one back in the feudal era, Souta’s sister was back in that time.
It wan uncanny how this could be even possible Sesshomaru was right here in his time. Souta just stood their bewildered of what was happening “does this mean there are other demons in this era or is it just you”.
Sesshomaru shook his head “unfortunately no I am not the only demon there are many more but are living among the humans” he walked over to the window looking out seeing the people below.
“Thousands of years have past and the world of demons and humans had changed why demons were decreasing in numbers humans were increasing, over time demons had gone into hiding forgotten of the power they possessed and decided to live among human society now, to human’s demons are nothing but stories and myths”.
To Souta it seemed as if Sesshomaru was displeased about his species as if they were cowering away from the world. Like they had no power against humans anymore because their numbers were rapidly growing smaller.
Souta sort of felt sorry for the demon realising how lonely it must feel being the only demon that isn’t afraid and still knows how to harness and use his powers. Living for so long and watching how things change around you in drastic ways must be awful.
Souta walked up to Sesshomaru when he was beside him looking out the window as well. “Though things have changed and demons are now living amongst my kind shouldn’t you feel at ease knowing that humans aren’t destroying your species even if they had hidden their true selves from everyone” Souta said.
The teenager was trying to reassure Sesshomaru that life now was a lot better than back then. Demons weren’t killing humans and humans weren’t afraid of them, now both are living amongst one another as equals.
To Sesshomaru he didn’t see it like Souta did of course once being a demon lord why shouldn’t he. The land Sesshomaru once ruled was now covered with buildings, houses and roads.
“You know I went to one of you stores at that time I didn’t know you owned it until I saw my necklace which was in one of the cabinets but wasn’t for sale”. Sesshomaru looked at him “I remember when I had come back here six years ago that I had forgotten my necklace with the blue stone pendant which Kagome gave me”.
“Though the moment I saw it I needed to know who brought it their and it seems it led me straight here to you” Souta looked up at him. Both of them stared into each others eyes “when you made me go back I had never forgotten the time I shared with you and now being here with you makes me wonder how unfortunate it was that I wasn’t allowed to stay with you”.
Sesshomaru was stunned that this was the same boy he had saved countless times but got rid of as a peace of garbage thrown into a bin. Sesshomaru looked away “Rin missed you when I told her that you had gone, she didn’t talk to me for a whole week blaming me for making you leave without even being able to say goodbye to her” Sesshomaru told him.
“I will never forget the kindness Rin gave me when I was at your castle, I take it she um”, “yes she is no longer part of this world since Rin was only human after all”. Sesshomaru seemed sad when he mentioned the girl’s name.
Souta knew that Rin was important to the demon as if she was like a daughter to him only mortal. It must have been hard for Sesshomaru when his ward had passed away probably made him feel alone and depressed.
Souta wondered if Sesshomaru felt sad when he left and came back home or maybe just relieved that the demon didn’t have to look after two human children. Souta went quiet which Sesshomaru had picked up the moment Rin was mentioned.
He wondered what the boy was thinking about and wasn’t quite sure what to say to him. “Souta I would like you to come over to my place tomorrow if you are not to busy I am sure there are probably some things you wish to talk with me about”.
The plan was set at five o’clock tomorrow Souta was going to visit Sesshomaru’s house after receiving the demons home address and phone number in case he got lost.
On the way home Souta was wondering who it was that Sesshomaru was going to introduce him to. So many things were running through the kids head, it was as if trucks kept dumping things of and making his head feel up with thoughts.
Souta finally arrived back at his house, he opened the front door but the boy’s home didn’t have that homey feeling to it anymore. The reason to this is because, one Kagome decided to live in the feudal era with her husband/mate Inuyasha, secondly his grandfather had been put in a home and thirdly just two years ago Souta’s mother vanished.
Souta was only thirteen and a half soon to be fourteen when he came home from school realising his mother wasn’t their. He had thought that she must have gone to the shops until Souta noticed a note on the table.
Souta’s mother had written that she would be going away for a while, the child just thought a while was like two or three days. However a week went by then a month and before Souta knew it a whole year had gone.
Each fortnight Souta had been receiving an envelope in the mail which had money in it. He knew it was from his mother since Souta recognised his mother’s hand writing on the front.
She did not write a letter asking him how he was or were she was staying and how she was faring. Souta gave up finally convincing himself that his mother would never return but not understanding why she left in the first place.
Souta wondered if she was mad at him or something but knew he wouldn’t get any answers. He had tried to go back to the feudal era to visit Kagome and tell her what’s been happening however the well didn’t allow him passage through.
Souta thought that the stone Sesshomaru had given him would have worked but it seemed it only had enough power to get him back and not enough for a second trip.
When Souta was at school with his friends it was the only time he felt happy being surrounded by people who cared. None of his friends knew the whole story why his mum wasn’t living at home with him. Souta just came up with the story that his mother travelled around the world a lot for work.
Since he was so good at making up lies always covering for his sister when she went to the past. It was one thing Souta was really good at lying to peoples faces, even if he decided he didn’t want to go to school.
Now that Souta was sixteen he was old enough to get a part time job and earn some money of his own. He couldn’t wait until his mother would send him some more cash through the mail it just took to long.
Time was at a virtue Souta had to pay for his school tuition, bills and even food just for himself. The money his mother was sending didn’t cover it all so Souta needed some extra cash in his wallet.
Souta was thinking of selling the house since he was the only one who lived in it but then he remembered the shrine and the well. Who knows what would happen to it if someone else owned it.
Souta scratched that idea of his list he knew Kagome would be really mad at him if he did such a thing.
Life was getting rather complicated for Souta but who knows that might all change now that he had met Sesshomaru again.
What will happen now can Sesshomaru save Souta from everything well you’ll just have to wait for the next chapter…
