Stress Reliever

thehotty : So, I've decided that I'm going to fix my little problem.

Sesshoumaru : Indeed. And I get to write the next chapter.

Kagome : Be afraid! BE VERY AFRAID!

Sesshoumaru : For your information, I am doing an excellent job, thank you very much.

thehotty : You'll love it! It's so very interesting! Trust me!

Inu Yasha : Whatever. Lord Ice Rod up His Ass probably made it horrible.

thehotty : *smacks Inu Yasha on the back of his head* Shut up, imbasall!

Inu Yasha : WHAT THE FUCK!

*thehotty and Inu Yasha yelling in the background*

Kagome : This will last a while. So, Read on Inu Lovers, Read on.

~~~~~~~~~~
Kagome stared at the group of people at the dinner table. To her right sat Kanade, Kyo, Hojo, Kouga and Miroku. On her left was Kyo, Sesshoumaru, Inu Yasha, Kikyou and Sango.
They discussed their day and what they had planned for the next. Kyo seemed content on just listening to what had been going on around him to bother with talking. Kagome worried about the demons that had Kyo fearing for his life and her families. Kanade could plainly see it, as the other demons could smell it coming off of her in waves.
“Mom, I was thinking. Maybe we shouldn’t have a party next week. Maybe just have the friends over and have a nice dinner?” Kyo asked, leaning forward a bit to see her.
She glanced up and looked at him. “If that’s what you and your sister wants. Don’t let this interfere with your plans. We’ve got it all under control,” she said, smiling wearily.
Sesshoumaru watched her closely before excusing himself from the table. “I have to call Jaken and have him bring me clothes for a while. Thank you for supper.”
Kagome looked up. “That old toads still alive? What the hell! I thought he’d die from the way you treated him by now,” Kagome stated.
“Unfortunately for me, he hasn’t,” Sesshoumaru answered walking out of the dinning room.
“I’ll get dishes,” Hojo called from the end of the table.
“I’ll help you,” Miroku offered before they both got up and started to clear the table.
Kagome watched them for a minute before leaving the table herself and started down the hall toward her library. Upon opening the door, she found Sesshoumaru sitting in a chair staring out the window at her wildly grown, but in a way, beautifully manicured back yard.
“So, how long do you plan to stay here?” she asked, walking into the room.
He turned to look at her. “Probably a week. Father needs me back at the mansion for some business stuff. I will not forget them. If it is alright, I’d like them to stay at my mansion for a while. It is up to you and them for how long. I think Father would like to meet them as well. He’ll probably demand to meet you too,” he said.
She sat down in another chair and stared out the window. “Alright. I guess that can happen. It’s not like you’re asking me to give them up completely. You understand why I can’t do that, right?” she asked.
He nodded. “Of course. One can not give up what, or who, one loves.”
She felt her heart twist at that statement. “Sometimes they have to though,” she whispered.
He glanced at her out of the corner of his eye and watched her get up. “Stay a while. We can discuss this situation that has come to our attention today.”
She nodded and sat back down. “What do you want to talk about?” she asked.
“How well do you and Kyo know each other?” he asked.
She glanced at him. “He’s my servant and he protects the kids. He’s a loyal friend and a wonderful confident. He’s got a lovely mate and five wonderful children. I don’t think they’ve had anymore in the last 300 years. The last one almost caused Rena to die at childbirth. Kyo was hung over it for a good two years. He hovered over her so much that finally I had to send him off on some wild goose chase so she could be left alone for a while.” She chuckled softly. “I can’t wait to see that woman again. So bright and cheerful. She was a rare find back in those days. She wasn’t one of those girls that bowed before a man and did whatever he told her to, you know.”
He nodded. “Only you would find quality in some one like that back then.”
“It helped to be from this era. What else would you like to know?” she asked.
“What do you know of these demons besides for what Kyo told us?” he asked.
“Nothing. They terrorized some of the Southern Lands for a good 5 years before Kyo went after them. They were a brutal group from what I heard, and I have good hearing. They took what they wanted, killed the rest. Didn’t care if it was adult or child, male or female. Burned everything down to the ground when they were done. Left long, bloody trials behind them and didn’t care. Nobody ever tried to stand up to them. They were feared far and wide in the South. Even the Lord at the time obeyed them. But he was a wuss. I’m just glad that Benji took over and now rules that region. He didn’t put up with it. Sent them packing. I thought they had left Japan all together, until Kyo came back.”
He nodded and pondered over this. He had heard briefly of this gang, but had dismissed it, seeming as it had nothing to do with his lands. The last Lord wasn’t in good graces with him either. Now his dismissal seemed to haunt him.
“What will we do about this whole thing? Do you even have a plan?” he asked.
“Nope. Just wing it, I guess,” she answered with a shrug.
He nodded and continued to stare out the window. They sat in silence for several minutes before Kagome breathed deeply.
“So, who do you have waiting for you out there? A girlfriend? Mate-to-be? Maybe even a mate?” she asked.
“I don’t have any,” he answered. “Do you have some one?” he asked her.
She laughed. “No. Kyo and Kanade see to that. Either they don’t like a guy and scare him off, or the guy doesn’t want anything to do with them. Sometimes I fear I’ll never find anyone because of them. In the end it’s worth it though,” she answered.
He nodded in understanding. He could understand from the conversation that Sango and Kagome had earlier that day.
“So why don’t you have some one yet? I’d think with you being a Lord, you’d at least have some sort of treaty with some other Lord or something giving his daughter to you for a mate,” she asked.
“No. I declined all offers of the sort. Nobodies came along that’s grabbed my attention,” he answered.
She nodded. “Yeah, I can understand that. Not much to choose from out there. Everyone always says the seas full of fish. How wrong they are.”
“Indeed,” he said.
A knock came at the door and Kyo entered. “My Lady, I hate to interrupt you, but I believe we should go over a plan for next week.”
She turned around and looked at him. “We’ll fight like we always do Kyo. Blood and glory, right?” she asked.
He nodded. “Of course my Lady. As you wish.” He bowed and left the two of them alone again.
Sesshoumaru’s cell phone went off right then. He picked it up and answered it.
“Hello, Sesshoumaru speaking.”
He paused for a moment before letting out a small puff of air. “I am fine, father.” He paused briefly to let his father speak. “No father. I am getting to know my pups. Not trying to find a mate.” He paused again. “Yes. I have pups.”
He glared at the window. “No, I don’t have a hidden mate father.” He waited for his father to reply. “I am at the Northern Lady’s mansion.” His glare hardened as he hung up his phone.
“What was that all about?” Kagome asked.
“My father believes I am mated to you and haven’t told him. He’s on his way over right now,” he answered.
Kagome sighed and hit her head on the back of the chair. “They always come in threes, don’t they?” she asked.
He glanced at her and stood up. “Jaken should be here shortly.”
She nodded and followed after him as he left the Library and headed for the living room.
They entered it to find Kyo and Kanade yelling at Inu Yasha.
“Well, forgive us for not knowing about mom’s servant! Nobody ever mentioned him to us!” Kanade yelled.
“Who the hell did you think your brother was named after! A fairy god mother? Get real!” Inu Yasha yelled.
“Who the hell cares who I’m named after! At least I have a damn name!” Kyo yelled back. “Besides that doesn’t matter! Why didn’t anyone tell us we had a fucking protector?”
“Because I didn’t want you to rely on him. And after he disappeared, I didn’t know if he was still protecting you, so it was irrelevant,” Kagome answered.
The three turned to face her. “But mom! That’s like the equivalent of a human’s god-parents!” Kanade cried.
“Yes, but it’s totally different then a human’s god-parents. You two both have god-parents as well. Stop bitching about everything. Inu-no is coming over soon,” Kagome stated sitting down.
“Why the hell is the old man coming here?” Inu Yasha asked.
“Because, brother, he is stubborn and believes I am mated to Kagome. He also wants to meet the pups,” Sesshoumaru answered.
Inu Yasha almost fell over. “What the fuck?!?”
Kagome glared at him and sat down. “Shut up Inu Yasha. Don’t start your shit.”
Kyo walked in and bowed. “Lord Sesshoumaru, Jaken is here with your clothing. Lord Inu-no is here as well. What do you wish?” he asked.
“Send them in,” Sesshoumaru replied.
“Wow, he sure can move fast, can’t he?” Kanade asked.
“You don’t know dad. He’s going to be busting in here demanding explanations,” Inu Yasha replied.
And as if on cue a taller version of Sesshoumaru without the stripes on his cheeks stormed into the living room. He glanced over Kagome and took in Kyo and Kanade. “These are my grandchildren?” he asked Sesshoumaru.
Sesshoumaru nodded.
“Where is your mate?” he asked again.
“I don’t have one, father,” Sesshoumaru replied with a hard glare.
“You have to! You have pups! Where is your mother, children?” he asked Kyo and Kanade.
Kagome stood up and bowed. “Welcome to my home. And if you would please not speak to my children so harshly, I would appreciate it,” Kagome said.
Inu-no stared at her for a minute in shock. Surely she was joking. She was human! The pups were full demon!
“Woman, you will show me to these pups mother. Don’t lie to me,” he snarled.
“You don’t speak to our mother that way,” Kyo snarled back. “You will respect the Northern Lady in her home!”
“Or else you’ll answer to us,” Kanade glared at him.
“Kanade, Kyo, sit down. What have I told you about dealing with my business,” Kagome scorned.
They both glared at Inu-no before sitting down on the couch. “We were just trying to help,” Kanade whispered.
She rolled her eyes. “Lord Inu-no, I don’t lie about my children. I am their mother, and I am the Northern Lady. You will respect me.”
“Dad, just give up. Kagome’s as stubborn as an ox,” Inu Yasha said.
“Oh, shut up Yasha. You’re more stubborn then anyone I’ve ever met!” Kagome replied.
“Father, this is Lady Kagome, of the Northern Lands, and our pups, Kyo and Kanade. I do not lie,” Sesshoumaru said, standing up to face his father.
Inu-no stared at his son for a minute before facing Kagome again. He looked over the pups before finally seeing the resemblance in Kanade that tied them together. He watched as all three faces had the same set jaw of stubbornness and realized that this was no lie.
He sighed and rubbed his forehead. “Why aren’t you two mated?” he asked.
Kagome crossed her arms and looked away. Kanade and Kyo watched her while Inu Yasha huffed and kicked the ground. Sesshoumaru glared at his father.
“That is none of your business,” he answered.
“Because he didn’t want me,” Kagome answered at the same time, turning around and walking out of the living room. Kyo started after her, but Inu Yasha stopped him.
“Leave her alone. It’s getting too much for her. Just be glad she hasn’t called Irene yet,” he advised.
Kyo nodded and sat down on the couch and rubbed his temples. “There’s just t0o much going on.”
Kanade patted his head and sighed. “Yeah.”
Inu-no watched them carefully while Sesshoumaru glared at him. A little green toad looking thing ran into his legs and stumbled backwards.
“M-m-m-my Lord! I am so sorry! Please forgive this lowly servant!” he cried in an annoying, grating voice.
Inu-no glanced down at the ugly demon and sighed.
“Take it to my room,” Sesshoumaru ordered while walking out of the living room.
Sango and Miroku walked into the room bewildered. “What the hell’s wrong with Kagome? She’s gone and called Irene without explanation,” Sango said.
Inu Yasha sighed and plopped on to the couch.
“We’re screwed,” Kanade sighed and walked out of the living room.
Kouga and Hojo walked in and glanced at everyone. “What’s going on?” Hojo asked.
“Irene’s coming over,” Kyo offered.
Kouga glared at him. “No she’s not. I won’t let my woman go out with that bitch.”
Kyo stood up and glared at the wolf. “MOM IS NOT YOUR WOMAN!” he yelled at Kouga.
Inu Yasha glared at Kouga as well. “Now is not the time Kouga.”
A loud knock came at the door followed by a woman with bright pink hair wearing baggy black pants and a hoody. She glanced around the room. “Where’s Kagome?” she asked.
Sango pointed down a hall and the woman nodded and headed down it.
“Who was that?” Inu-no asked.
“Irene,” Hojo answered before disappearing back into the kitchen, Sango and Miroku following behind him.
“Lord Kouga, it is nice to see you again,” Inu-no bowed his head.
“Lord Inu-no. I didn’t see you. What are you doing here?” Kouga asked.
“I have come to meet my grandchildren and their mother. What else would I be doing here?” Inu-no answered.
Kouga nodded. “I see.”
They all stood there for a minute and just watched each other. Soon the woman identified as Irene came back into the living room with Kagome. She wore baggy, army green pants and a white shirt with an image of Gir from Invader Zim on it.
“Don’t wait up. I’ll see you tomorrow,” Kagome said while walking out of the room.
Inu Yasha followed after her. “Kagome! Don’t go out. Your children need you.”
Kagome whirled around to face him. “Everyone needs me for answers, don’t they? Who the hell do I turn to when I need answers? I don’t have anyone! Instead, I’m stuck with people that want to be rude to me. Instead I’m stuck with people that call me a liar. Instead I’m stuck with every fucking problem in the world and no fucking way to just say NO! I’m going out, and you’re not stopping me. I’m going to have a care free night, because I think right about now, I’ve deserved that.”
With that she walked out the door with Irene and didn’t look back.
Kyo entered the hallway. “Mom needs this, Yasha. Just let her be.”
Sesshoumaru sat in the library once again and thought over the past. More specifically, that year he had spent with Kagome looking for Immortality.
He could remember how she had made him feel. Annoyed, frustrated, amused, excited, happy, confused, and some things he hadn’t dared touch upon or name for what they could mean in the long run.
He remembered that she had been kind to him right off. She didn’t fear him, nor did she turn her back on him. Instead she had embraced him and his kind, saying that one had nothing to fear but fear itself. Of course in later years, he had heard the same thing from a president of America.
He had tried to get her to leave him. Tried to scare her off. But it all seemed in vein because she wouldn’t take no as an answer. So he allowed her to travel with him. After he had gotten out of her what she was looking for and where she had came from, he had agreed to help her to the best of his ability, curious if humans could possess immortality or not.
Along the way though, he had started to notice that she seemed shier and blushed more often when she looked his way. Soon this faded and she seemed to warm up to him more. As she started to warm up to him, he started to realize that she fancied him. She didn’t know about his wealth or his position in society besides him being a demon. This grabbed his attention.
He would catch himself showing emotion to her unknowingly before he’d withdraw it, trying to get it under control. But it kept slipping. He thrived for her disobedience and objections and cherished her loyalty and trust. She was an oddity and a rough gem. Her willingness to learn the art of Samurai and her knowledge of Karate and the Bow impressed him. She dove into battles as recklessly as Inu Yasha and fought with as much grace and beauty as he could. He began teaching her to use the sword and spear through the travels and soon found she was a quick study, impressing him even more. She was smarter then any woman he had met and she seemed to have her own theories on life and death. She believed in things that seemed to be completely out of any ones reach, such as humans touching down on the moon and seeing planets further then the moon.
She was exactly what he was looking for in life. But she was human. He despised humans. They were filthy beings. She was obsessed with cleanliness. She claimed that being dirty was what caused people to become so fatally ill and die. She washed at least twice a day. Once in the morning and once at night. And if they fought other demons or humans, she’d wash after that as well.
When they finally reached their destination and he realized that immortality was in the hands of humans, his curiosity was complete. He traveled with her to the bottom of the mountain and they had decided to celebrate with some Sake. So they had. As the night wore on, he began showing more emotions toward her. Things went a little too far that night. The next morning he left her.
Of course he had to get back to his father. He had been away for to long. He didn’t want to spend his life with a human. It was a mistake for him to even do anything with her. He blamed it on the Sake. He had quite a bit that night. Enough to get him a little ‘tipsy’ according to what humans called it.
When people started to talk about a human woman being pregnant with his child, he had forgotten about that night and told everyone that he had never slept with a human. Nobody wanted to go against him so nobody tried to question him. She tried more then once to get to him and tell him, but he thwarted it every time. Dismissed it as wishful dreaming and left it as is.
Nights seemed longer after that year. He seemed to fall away from everyone. He cared less about the things around him. And as time went by, he started hearing of things she had spoken of. Quotes came to be. Guns and bombs came to be. Men walked on moons. More religions came out. Japan Americanized. Samurai seemed to fade out.
He had found out the joys of running a business. He delved into it headfirst and it began to run his life. Days started to go faster once more. Before he knew it, it was night and the day had disappeared. Thoughts of Kagome (though he never admitted it, even to himself) seemed to disappear completely. She still lingered in the back of his mind though.
But he refused to get involved in her once again. He couldn’t afford it. It was the reason he was leaving at the end of the week. Why he was only staying for a week. He didn’t want to feel things he didn’t want to define anymore.
Kagome stared into the crowd. She was quite wasted. Irene was out there jumping and moshing to the music. She’d be out there too; if it wasn’t due to the thoughts she hadn’t allowed running through her head since Sesshoumaru had appeared again.
They came unbidden and unwelcome. The love she held for him came smashing into her after the 5th shot of Vodka. After the 10th, she started to remember the affection he had shown her. How he’d be kind to her. Say nice things and help her up when she stumbled or slipped. How he’d offer to carry her up steep slopes as to get to the top faster, though she thought it was just so he could hold her and feel her close to him. How he would protect her when she was in more danger then he was.
He would always notice it after a while and pull back. Become cold and uncaring within a moment. He wouldn’t look back when she stumbled or slipped. He wouldn’t care if she had to climb up a steep slope. He would only protect her as soon as he defeated his own enemy.
When they had found the end of her journey, she had gotten him to agree to celebrate their victory with some Sake. Of course, she had never planed for what had happened. She had only drunk two cups of Sake, as she didn’t like alcohol all that much. When she felt his hand on her cheek, it had startled her. But his eyes memorized her instantly. She knew he cared for her. She told him she loved him right then and there.
He didn’t say anything. Instead he devoured her lips. Tasted her wholly. She loved it. She had felt the evidence that he was enjoying it as well when they ended up lying on the ground and he had dug his hips into hers. Things seemed to spiral out of control after that.
The next day though broke her. He had gotten up and left. Clamed his father needed him back at his castle. She had figured all this out his status the night before. She had asked him many questions before the incident. He had answered them fully, which she was glad of.
When she had asked him when she could see him again, he had told her never. He didn’t want anything to do with her. Of course, it hurt her more. But watching him walk away from her tore her apart instantly. She cried for three days straight. She didn’t leave the spot. Instead she stayed there for three months. When she realized she was pregnant, she took off to find him.
His constant denial had been worse then his leaving her. She eventually let it be and moved along. Kyo helped her through the last of her pregnant icy when he had found her. As the pups got older, she went out on journeys to find him. Hoping to cross paths outside of the Western Lands. She didn’t want to run into him on his lands, fearing he might strike her down and leave her children as orphans with Kyo.
She never found him though. Time slowly passed and she realized that if she stayed away from him, it might be good for the children. Might be good for her. Might be the best thing in the world.
So she did that. She hid them away. Inu Yasha helped when he came along. He clued her in on what he was doing and where he was so that Kagome could make sure that Kyo and Kanade never went there. She’d go on ‘business trips’ though near those areas every now and then in hopes of running into him or spotting him from across the street or in a crowd. But nothing worked. She moved on with life, diving into work and her children. Trying to ignore the gaping hole in her heart.
She sighed and watched as Irene climbed the stairs and sat down in front of her.
“You’re thinking again, woman. Stop thinking. You’re out here to have fun. Not be depressed. You do that in the bathroom with a razor blade, remember?” Irene joked.
Kagome forced a smile on her face. “You’re right. Let’s go down there and show those bitches what’s really up.”
Irene laughed and followed along behind Kagome as she led the way.
