Entering the hut, Shippou noticed his mama asleep up against the wall. Such a small place for them there really is no place for all of them to sleep. Glancing outside one last time he decided to wake Kagome to tell her about his day. “Kagome,” began the small kitsune son, “Mama, its almost time for dinner. Are you going to wake up?” A groan escaped the miko’s lips, and the mischief maker smiled a small grin. “ Kagome, I’m hungry. Kaede is still at the Tekaki’s house. He got an infection on the cut and they need to bleed it out. Do you wanna go night fishing with me?”

Slowly, the young mother of 22 years opened her eyes to adjust to the small hearth fire, and looked at her son. Sighing she sat up and realized the creak in her neck, and rolled her head from side to side. She began, “I would love to honey. We have to talk any ways, just me and you.” The las three words she pointed from her chest to his to make him realizes the seriousness in her voice. Said little guy, gulped audible. “Oh, no. Shippou its not something bad. Don’t worry, ok?”

To say the kitsune was relieved well you don’t really know Shippou than, huh? He was so excited he raced outside to the side of the hut and grabbed the sticks. Running back inside he screeched with child like enthusiasm, “Come on, come on, come on! The fish ain’t gonna catch themselves mama.” He watched her slowly rise off the ground and he bounded on ahead.

“Not too fast! Not too-. Uhg! What the use? He just gets too worked up about stuff sometimes.” Mused the woman out loud with a shake of her head. Walking towards the babbling stream she looked to her left and laughed out right. There he was with two sticks in the ground, and him in the water trying to chase the fish near the poles. “Shippou, there is a reason that is called fishing,” she called out to him with laughed in her voice.

Looking up at her, he gave her a lope sided grin and giggled. “They were taking too long!” He yelled at her as he found another one and started at it. “Stay still, fishy. I just wanna eat you,” he mumbled to himself and scrambled to it in such a frenzy only another young person would appriacte his hard work.

Kagome manned the fishing sticks and watched her son chasing the fish in the water. A twitch in her arm had her itching absently. Than a bite on her other arm had her itching that one as well. Followed by another one on the same arm just higher. She stopped looking at him and focused on her arms. Growling at her bug bites. "Stupid mosquitos and their stupid ‘I want to suck you blood’ attitude," she mumbled to no one.

Pretty soon the kitsune remember that his miko mommy wanted to talk to him about something. He shook off all the excess water and sat next to her and waited for her to stop itching. After awhile he looked at her and realized that her arms were getting redder from said scratching. Lightly the scent of her blood started to perfume the air. He looked straight at her than. She looked so out of it just staring straight ahead and itch, itch, itching. Unaware of his own actions he started to mimic her movements, slowly.

Shaking her head she looked at her son who began to itch as well. “That IS IT!” She all but yelled her frustrations out. “Shippou come on,” she rose taking her top off and getting near the water, “we have to get in the water. Something doesn’t feel right about this, this itching- thing.”

Slowly, the kitsune raised his head at his mama and just barely registered what she said. Blood, the scent was getting thicker in the air. Worse than that night so long ago. Worse than any moment in his life. He stared at his mommy and started to salivate. “Mama,” he started to swoon with blood lust, “ quickly, get.. in the wa-” Somethings wrong, can't even finish his sentence. His breath began to labor and he saw the blood trail in the air. It looked like little tiny droplets, mist of blood. They all led to one thing. His mother.

The miko looked back at her adopted son and stopped just shy of the stream. She could clearly see his aura now. A bright, metallic shade of green surrounded him. His eyes started to glow an unnaturally dark purple shade in color. The hair all over his body started to stand on end and frizz out all the way to the tip of her tail. He began to hunch over on himself, as if to prevent himself from moving. Drool started to drizzle on his lower lip, he licked it as an after thought. She shook her head to bring her back to what needed to fix it. Grabbing her last reserve of courage she raced to the stream. She splashed in and turned around. Splashing water every where she could think of. Too much in the moment, she forgot where all the blood had come from.

“Shippou!” she screamed at the top of her lungs. Realizing this may not help she started on her sweet mommy voice. “Honey boy. Come on, honey. Do you want me to get you some candy? Or pokey? Anything?” She started to get worried. He’s never acted like this before, its getting too scary. Need to think of something. Itchy, itchy, itchy. She started to itch once again but than realized that her arms were bleeding, like she was itching with sand paper and jagged rocks. Jumping into action she lady down in the stream and started to make, what she thought as, water angels.

The stinging started to get to her arms and she tried to rise only to be shoved back down by a large boot shoved on her chest. “Miko, it is wise for the moment, that you remain submerged,” stated a rather low baritone voice, void of emotion. He carried on as if she was actually paying attention, but she was having a hard time breathing and her flailing should have given that away. Feelings of blackout started to form in her mind and she had to fight it, for her son. Shippou..

“Kagome,” suddenly a small voice started to nag at her ear. Growing louder with each call of her name till she shoke out of her dazed look in her eyes. “Oh, thank Gods. Mama,” the little kitsune jumped on his surrogate mother. Nearly worried that she would pass out he started to squeeze and nuzzle her neck. “You got this glazed look in your eyes and it was like you passed out. But you didn’t move mama. You couldn't hear me. What happened?”

The miko looked around and noticed her top on the ground and herself next to the stream. Kitsune in the stream still, though all the mirth from earlier play gone from his childish face. Oddly, she started to wonder how old her son truly was at that moment. She looked down at her arms and noticed little bumps on her skin from too much scratching and itching. Scooping up some water she brushed it up and down her arms till the tingling feelings of numbness soon took over. “It was .. a.. dream?” Slowly she moved to her kitsune son and picked him up. Nose to nose they looked into each others eyes until she was satisfied that he was, in fact, a normal little demon child that she so loved. “Vision?” She questioned low in her voice still staring at her son.

What is she talking about, wondered said demon son. Is she ok, began the inner monolouge, maybe we should head back to the hut? She looks pale and tired all of the sudden. The gloomey kitsune turned his eyes away from his mom, afraid that it was his fault she looked so tired.

“Oh, well Shippou I wanted to talk to you,” deciding to think about the dream / vision later she'd approached the subject once again to see if he would want to still have a home with her. “Now try not to interrupt me till I have said my peace, ok?”

The kitsune began to shake thinking this is the part were she tells me she will never come back and to live with Sango and Miroku. Getting ridged to brace himself he softly replied, “Yes, mama.” Feeling defeated for not trying to fight and wanting to make her happy before she left him forever. At least I tried, he sighed.

“Honey,” she began in a soft, kind voice that you only hear you mom when she knows you to be ill, “I was wondering, if you would like to have a family.. umm.. hut, with me?” Blushing she looked down shyly at the kitsune to see his reaction.

The look alone said that he was beyond happy. His tail fluffed out, his eyes filled with tears. Springing into action he launched himself for her neck and nuzzled and started to, purr? Foxes don’t purr, right? Maybe its a demon thing.

He was so too shocked to speak, or say yes, he nuzzled up and down trying to say yes in any other way. He even purred, which she probably was scared about so he stopped. Taking a deep, deep breath till he could not breathe in any more he left it all out. “Yes, yes, yes, yes. Ooh thank you mama! I would love that. A place for just us, and Kaede can visit and we can put all our drawings up together and we can get firewood and play games and we can do sooooo much together and Inuyasha can visit and Rin can finally spend the night with us in a hut.” That one long sentence came out along with that breathe he held, than realization hit again. “Holy Cow Kagome! Were gonna be a family!”

Dazed about the little kistunes words and still trying to digest everything that he just said she noticed the fishing stick were at an odd angle. “Oh Shippou! We got bites!” Together they grabbed the sticks and pulled in their dinner. She stared at the slowly dying fish and gave her son a look. Nodding his head he took the huge fish, one in each paw, and waited for her to get the sticks. Shocked at the fact that they should have just broken from how large the fish were. As they started the walk home towards the village, Kagome started to hum Shippou favorite song from her time.

Before all the tragedy that happened in her life she listened to many, many different songs and artists. But for her son, only The King, would please. Any thing and every thing from that man was pulled into his head and soaked up like a sponge. His favorite song was one that made sense to his demon brain, ‘Love Me Tender’. As he looked at her and pleaded with his eyes she started to sing as they made it to the hut.

“Love me tender, love me sweet, never let me go... You have made my life complete, And I love you soo... Love me tender, love me true.. All my dreams fulfilled, for my darlin I love you, and I always will..” Her voice carried into the night, drifting on the wind as if it was merely a feather of chance that so many people could hear her. She thought of her family and singing for them her voice rose higher at the thought that they could hear what she sang. The stepped into the hut and started to roast the fish in sticks above the hearth fire, she had to stop for her concentration could only be stretched so dar. She hummed low and sweet till she was done with fish and picked up again, unaware of her calming aura around the village.

Villagers began to look up and around trying to find who was singing such a song. It gave them a feeling of being loved that a calm euphoria broke in the village. So when a mighty taiyouki came to see what creature was singing, no one seemed to noticed his presence. He leaned in to the hut that had the voice of the only person he knew to sing like that, something so unGodly he knew it was a sin to listen.

She never wavered her singing when she felt his presence, instead she merely sung louder and carried on. “Love me tender, love me long, take me to your heart... For its there that I belong, and we'll never part... Love me tender, love me dear, tell me you are mine... I’ll be yours through all the years, till the end of time..” She wanted more than anything for him to come into the hut and watch her. Wishful thinking on that one Kaggie, she berated herself but gave him the last lines as a parting thought for him alone, “When at last my dreams come true, darling this I know... Happiness will follow you, everywhere you go.” Humming to bring down all that listed from a softer form of their euphoria.

Glancing at Shippou she nodded towards the miko shrine as if to say, ‘Hey I gotta grab my profile, I’ll be right back.’ Never stopping from her humming she gave him a kiss on the cheek and left the hut. Feeling the presence of her silent listener, she felt like she was once again in the embrace as before. The feeling of feather weightless picked on her once more, but she grasped it and used it to her advantage. The feeling of her blackout she took total control and will herself to be free and her own being. She lightly traced the grass with her feet and looked behind her, eyes full of merith.

How did she know that I was watching her? The great demon felt puzzled as he stared in to her eyes that were the color of rain clouds in the summer, nearly blue, but truly they were gray. They held him prisoner to his spot, staring even harder before, he watched her dance around like a one of the faye humes he read about in books, from long ago. A smile that could melt any ice, especially the ice of his heart, graced her fragile jaws as she looked behind her and entered the shrine. He waited for her to return from the a cursed shrine of her fellow human beings. He sighed in disgusted.

He heard movement from his left and turned. Now how did she do that, was the only thoughts he could manage until he looked at what she held in her hands. It was a can-vas, as she put it, of his face. The lines looked so solid, like the drawings of Rin. Made with a large pencil. Each line was arched and angled to a science all its own. It looked far too good, he thought. Why does she make me look so, so.. Nothing came to mind but perfect. Perfect. No, wait. Let’s think about this. Deep breathe in, he coached himself, and out. “Woman who acts like the fayes,” he began, but got nothing else out of his mouth when he heard more music to his ears. Well, not quite music, more like a laughed. To be more specific it was her laughter that was his music of choice right now.

She could not believe that he called her a fairie. That was so by far the funniest way he has ever tried to approach her or to let her know that he was near. She laughed out right at his awkward ways, and speech. Where did he get that from, mused the little hume-faye-creature clinging to her profile of the demon before her in her tiny hands. “ Sesshomaru, were you watching me dance?” She asked him with a glint of playfulness in her eyes.

Speechless, that's all the Lord of the West was at that moment, and shocked. No one dares to make a joke about this Sesshomaru expense, and here she did it. Well this shall be a great challenge yet, he mused silently to himself. “ I think,” he started only to realize that his mouth had on dry. Demon lords to not get a loss of words, he half ordered half told himself. “Your can-vas, of this Sesshomaru, is very...” And his brain turned off.

Did, began the miko, the great taiyouki of the west have a brain fart? No. Impossible. Before he could feel embarrassed she bowed low and looked at the ground to give him some respect and a moment. “Thank you very much, Sesshomaru-sama. But I really must be going. I have dinner started and my kit is not the best cook.” She stood back up and placed her hand on his cheek. “Maybe,” she began, “we can finish this conversation at a later time.” She than walked away. Feeling as if her stomach was doing the biggest flip and flop at the same time. How in the hell did I manage that? She was shocked.

Happy, blushing well past her thighs, but still shocked. When she got back to the hut she placed her canvas down safely on the ground. She looked back at her kit who was eating his fish giving her a toothy grin, and she promptly fainted.
