A/N: Thank you all for reading my story!!! And thank you Sesshomaru-sama for reviewing. I love you lots!!!!
Chapter four: Please don’t hurt me…
The group was silent as Kagome told them the rest of her story. “You see, I was depressed because you all depend on me for my miko abilities, and now I don’t have that anymore. Not only that, but it was always my dream to one day have children of my own…” Tears began to fall down the girl’s face once more.
Sango held Kagome close to comfort the poor girl’s suffering. On top of hearing Kagome’s story, Sesshomaru told them of what Inuyasha had said to Kikyo. “There, there Kagome.” Kagome whispered. “I can understand why your so depressed. But at least you can give it to the man you love the most. And I am glad that it wasn’t Inuyasha.” She shot a glare at the sulking hanyuu. “Speaking of which, why are you still here?”
Inuyasha shot a glare at the girl. “Because Kagome still owes me for the jewel she broke!”
Sango almost went over to beat Inuyasha, but Miroku beat her to it. “Inuyasha,” His tone was short and clipped. “Don’t you think you’ve done enough damage to Kagome? She doesn’t have the ability anymore so back off. Before I make you back off.”
Never before had any of them heard Miroku threaten anyone but an enemy. And here, he was threatening Inuyasha as if he was the enemy.
When Sesshomaru and Kagome returned to the three, Sesshomaru very proudly explained that he was going to lead the pack now. When they asked him what happened to Inuyasha, he gladly told them what the hanyuu had done to Kagome. Without any discussion, Sango, Miroku, Shippo and even Kirara agreed at this. Sesshomaru maybe human at the moment, but he was level headed enough to lead them into battle without getting them all injured.
Inuyasha glared at Miroku and huffed. So what if he chose Kikyo over Kagome? She was prettier, smarter, and a hell of a fighter. To him, all Kagome did was attract more trouble then he could handle.
“Like hell I will.” He snapped at Miroku. “Think about it Miroku, when was the last time Kagome actually did something besides get in trouble? She always gets kidnapped. And I always have to bust my ass to save her. And what do I get in return? A bunch of sit commands, and wounds that take forever to heal. Sango, how many times do you have to save her yourself? Come on, she’s nothing but a thorn in our side. The only thing she was useful for is finding shards. And now she cant do that. What use is she to me?”
“That’s enough Inuyasha!” Miroku snapped.
Sango stood, about to beat the hanyuu senseless. He only did this because Sesshomaru went out to scout the area. Before she could take two steps to him, Kagome walked forward, drew her hand back, and slapped Inuyasha as hard as she could.
“That’s all I was to you?” She screamed. “Just a jewel finder? Well fuck you Inuyasha! I stood by you, helped you out when you needed me! I accepted you when other’s did not. When your demon side took over and you couldn’t control it, who aided you? Who helped you during that time of need? Did Kikyo? No! Her so-called copy did! I was born in a time where there are no demons! I’m sorry that I don’t know how to fight, or how to shoot an arrow, but damn it Inuyasha, I try my hardest at what I do. If you don’t accept me for how I am, then get the hell away from me Inuyasha. I’m not going to stand here and let you abuse me with your words.”
Inuyasha stood, his hand on his face. “You cant just kick me out of the group!” he snapped.
Kagome grabbed the beads and ripped them off his neck, watching each individual bead fall. “Get the hell away from me Inuyasha.” She growled.
Inuyasha just stood there in shock. Kagome had told him a long time that those beads meant they were connected. Sure, they gave him trouble all the time, but he felt the same connection between them when he wore them. In shock, he looked at her, finally realizing how much he had hurt her.
“Kagome I…”
Her hand lashed out, but instead of slapping him, she pointed east. “I accepted you the way you were Inuyasha. I loved you for you, even if you were an hanyuu. I never pitied you, or put you down. And yet you never accepted me for me. Well no more Inuyasha. You have no more ties with me. So get the hell away from me and never, ever approach me again. Go to Kikyo. I’m sure she’ll help you find the shards.” Kagome then turned, walking away from him. She didn’t want to look at Inuyasha anymore; she didn’t want anything to do with him anymore.
Inuyasha bit his lip, clenched his fist and took off running. It was too late to say he was sorry. He was so caught up in the past that he didn’t think to look in the future. He finally realized that yes, Kagome did get in a lot of trouble, but when he saved her, she was already half way out of the trouble. And when he was in danger, Kagome was always there to help him out.
“It seems like you messed up big time little brother.” Sesshomaru’s voice sneered.
Inuyasha stopped and glared at his human brother. “Shut the hell up Sesshomaru. None of this would have happened if you just didn’t show your face here.
Sesshomaru just smirked. “If I recall, you’re the one that went to the dead miko, not I. No, I only came here because Kagome asked me to. Now, if you’re leaving, I’m going to have to ask you to leave Tetsusaiga here. After all, you’re not worthy of wielding it.”
Inuyasha slid Tetsusaiga from his belt and looked at it sadly. “Your right Sesshomaru. The one woman who I vowed to protect, I hurt.” He couldn’t feel his father’s sword pulse in his hands any longer. Not after what he had done. “Take it.” He growled, thrusting the sword out to his brother. “You protected her when it should have been me.”
Sesshomaru gave a small nod and reached out to the sword. He expected the sting of its barrier, but instead he easily took it into his hands. He didn’t say thank you, or any words of farewell. Instead he turned and walked back to the camp, leaving Inuyasha standing there.

Kagome continued to sob in Sango’s arms even when Sesshomaru returned. She didn’t regret saying those words to Inuyasha, but it still hurt a lot. Just because she said them, didn’t mean she wasn’t heart broken. No, her heart felt like it was shattering into a million pieces. The one man she loved had betrayed her.
“What’s wrong?” Sesshomaru asked as he approached them. He didn’t like seeing women cry. Even when Rin cried he was at a loss.
“Inuyasha hurt her.” Sango said softly, still trying to comfort the young girl. “And she gave him a tongue lashing back when he insulted her.”
Sesshomaru sighed and walked over to her. As soon as he touched her shoulder, Kagome let go of Sango and instantly latched onto Sesshomaru, her tears not stopping.
The man just stood there, not knowing what to do at all. Here Kagome was, crying against his chest, and the second time in a month, Sesshomaru was at a loss what to do. Seeing the looks from both the slayer and the monk, he realized there was only one thing he could do. He wrapped his arms around her being and held her tightly. Something he had never done. Not even with Rin.
Soon, Kagome’s tears slowed and she fell asleep in his arms.
Miroku chuckled as he walked over to the two. “I never pegged you to be the comforting type Sesshomaru-sama.”
Sesshomaru shot him a glare. “I’m not.” He growled. “My body acted on its own, that’s all.”
“I think I know what it is.” Sango giggled. “But I know you’ll never believe me even if I told you.”
The once Taiyokai glared at her. “Speak slayer.”
Sango smiled and sat down next to them. “Sesshomaru, I think you might be falling in love with Kagome.”
“Impossible.” He answered quickly. “I’m a yokai and yokai do not fall in love. Such emotions are nothing more then troublesome.
Sango shook her finger at him. “You were yokai. Now you’re just a human male. It’s natural for human males to fall in love. That’s what you’re going though right now. Even though you don’t want to admit it, Sesshomaru, you’re falling in love.”
Miroku sat down next to Sango. “Tel me Sesshomaru-sama, do you feel comfort when your around Kagome?”
“Yes.”
“Does she make you wish to smile?”
“…”
“Does she stir up feelings that you don’t understand?”
“Oi! Hands off monk!” Sango turned and slapped him hard. Once more, Miroku reached back and rubbed her bottom.
Sesshomaru thought for a moment. What he had said was true. Ever sense what happened with Tenshi, he wanted to hold her tight, make her pain go away, and comfort her. Her smile made him warm deep inside. And the way she said her name made him want to hold her even more. He wanted to protect her from harm and make sure that no one could ever hurt her.
He sighed and looked down at the human girl as the two continued to bicker. “What are you doing to me Kagome?” He whispered softly.

A/N: See, I wanted to make this chapter longer, but I’m kinda pressed for time and it just seemed to be a good place to stop. I don’t know when I’m updating the next chapter. Also, thank you all for reviewing. And it seems that my boyfriend Sesshomaru decided to review as well… *blushes* Anyways, tell me what you think okay? R&R!!!
