Inuyasha pulled on the lousy suit that was at least one size too big and definitely too long. This was not going to work at all. Finally a tailor showed up and adjusted things while he sat on the edge of the bed in an oversized robe feeling stupid.

“Why are you still here Inuyasha? I told you to go get the fang.”

Sesshoumaru scolded trying not to laugh at his little brother who looked like a two year old brat in that robe. It was almost like the old days.

“Well if you hadn’t noticed you jerk nothing you own would fit me. I didn’t get your stature or did you forget that? I can’t fucking grow another inch. I am as tall as I am going to get.”

Inuyasha growled out as usual.

“Inuyasha you do not have to snap at me. I am aware of your predicament. Things will be brought here including your fang. I sent a courier. You will stay here and then tomorrow I will take you to the place where you insulted me. You will find a way to fix this.”

Sesshoumaru stated leaning against the wall looking annoyed that he had to even have Inuyasha here. Fact was he was pleased since it had been a while since anyone had come to visit that he cared to see.

“Why don’t you go on a date or get a life Sesshoumaru?”

Inuyasha growled as the servants hired cooed over him touching his ears and annoying him as he slapped his hands at them threatening to disembowel them each time they grabbed one of the soft tufts on his head.

“I Sesshoumaru do not need to court a female. I can get a woman any time I desire one. I have no desire for anyone. They are all distasteful and rude. There are no full grown worthy Inu demons left. You and I are the last of our kind. Really, do you expect me, Sesshoumaru Lord of the West to just dally with anyone?”

Sesshoumaru stated as he ran his long talons over his silky long silver locks.

“You are gay aren’t you? That is your problem.”

Inuyasha smirked knowing this pissed his brother off.

“No or you would be pregnant little brother with my heir since you are the last of our kind. Hanyous can bear heirs for us, but touching you would be an insult to my heritage. I am not going to debase myself like our Father over you.’
“I would have that blasted jewel turn you into full demon female if I had my wish and you know it. I cannot do that since I do not believe in false powers that I cannot control with my own diayouki strength. You are wasting my time.’
“You are aware Inuyasha, that I could torment you for the rest of your life for insinuating such insults. I am far from such nonsense."

Inuyasha snorted again with an added 'keh' to that remark.

"You already torment me and plan on it for the rest of my life so tell me something I don't know."

Sesshoumaru ignored that comment and continued. There was no point in stating the obvious when Inuyasha did. He was going to be tormented for the rest of his life. They only had each other left in the end of it all. It was embarrassing and insulting. Sesshoumaru didn't want to be alone and that was why his little brother still lived.


"I must produce an heir and unless you can do so you are useless to me. There are no females as I said of worth to me here. If you find me one I will already know she is a troublesome wench like your Kagome so why would I ever allow you to mangle my life in such a way. You are pushing and you will get pain in return if you keep it up.”

Inuyasha started laughing. Sesshoumaru was such a damn snob.

“No wonder they won’t flock to you. You are a hermit. You don’t ever leave here unless you have to come torment me for something. What is with you? The world is full of things. So you don’t like humans. Travel to someplace and find what you desire. You are wasting time here just getting old and miserable making me so also. Why do you think I go back through the well, for fun? No, to get away from you for a while except you in the past is just as bad as you now. You will and have always been a true asshole.”

Sesshoumaru rolled his eyes and got ready to leave the room.

“You make such excuses little brother. Someday you will have to grow up and realize your woman will get old. She will die before you just as many others have died before us. When will you learn the world is a cruel place that has no place for us? I am here and I will remain here. That is my destiny. Find yours and perhaps you will understand me someday.”

Inuyasha watched his brother walk out of the room. It was so sad. Sesshoumaru gave up on everything and didn’t want to embrace the world at all. It had been that way since he lost Rin. He just had not ever been the same.

Rin with sunshine in her eyes and hair was in his dreams. She smelled of flowers and of springtime. The child was beautiful and soft. So different than any other human Sesshoumaru had known. Rin was not ever any trouble to him even if she was in harm’s way. That was his fault for not watching her close enough. It was his responsibility and his fault she was dead. She should not have ever been close to where that monster could hurt her.

Sesshoumaru whimpered again in his sleep except this time he slept in the castle afraid of what havoc his little brother might cause in the castle. Inuyasha was so loud and always messy. He ran all over his gardens and pulled out the flowers by the roots digging holes for himself to hide in. The boy should not hide like a wounded animal. It never took long for Sesshoumaru to find him.

“Sesshoumaru………..”

Inuyasha whispered as he entered the diayouki’s room. The demon Lord was stirring in his sleep and he was clawing the bed. He looked so alone and frightened. It was the first time that Inuyasha had seen his powerful brother act this way.

Sesshoumaru practically jumped out of the bed and pinned Inuyasha to the floor with his eyes glowing red as his claws embedded themselves in his shoulders.

“Inuyasha, why do you disturb my slumber brat?”

The proud diayouki was still not fully awake.

“Sesshoumaru it is just me. I heard you in the other room.”

Inuyasha whimpered a bit to try to get Sesshoumaru back. Sesshoumaru smelled his brother on the floor and then stood up gracefully.

“Go to your room. I do not wish for you to bother me here.”

Inuyasha frowned.

“You are an asshole. Here I was trying to see what was wrong with you and you………..”

That is as far as he got when the door was slammed in his face. Sesshoumaru locked the door and slumped on the floor against it.

“Sesshoumaru open the damn door you jerk!”

Inuyasha roared.

“Go away brat before I do kill you.”

Sesshoumaru stated trying to figure out how to deal with this situation. Inuyasha had seen him weak and vulnerable. It was not acceptable.

“No! Fuck you! I am staying here all night until you come out!”

Sesshoumaru practically ripped the door open and then grabbed Inuyasha by the throat again snarling at him.

“You saw me you filthy hanyou sleeping! You dare come into my room!”

Inuyasha started laughing as he was used to this by now.

“I got you to come out didn’t I?”

Sesshoumaru frowned.

“I should break your neck right now.”

Inuyasha laughed harder.

“All talk and no action as usual. If you followed through with any of these threats big brother we would not ever talk and you said you are keeping me alive to entertain you. So let me do that.”

Sesshoumaru dropped his brother and just stood looking like he always did. No emotion in those eyes any more as though he were a statue.

“Do as you please.”

Inuyasha rubbed his throat a bit.

“Why were you whimpering?”

Sesshoumaru gave Inuyasha a warning look.

“You said you were going to entertain me not ask personal questions that are none of your concern. Do not ask that again. You have no tact and no manners. I obviously did not teach you them well enough.”

Inuyasha smirked.

“Touché’, touchy aren’t we tonight? Ok then what kind of entertainment are you looking for?”

Sesshoumaru turned to leave. This was ridiculous.

“OK, fine! Don’t just go I will think of something. I have a solution to your problem.”

Sesshoumaru sighed and put a hand to his forehead. He did ask for this so it was his own fault.

“What is it you want?”

Inuyasha smiled as Sesshoumaru was at least letting him push a little.

“We take you out of this castle and go to…………”

Sesshoumaru felt his fists clench at his sides.

“I told you I don’t want to leave here or did you not grasp that concept?”

Inuyasha frowned.

“I am talking about us going to the well you idiot. Not here, in the modern times.”

Sesshoumaru groaned.

“I don’t want to go back there. It only reminds me of what I cannot have.”

Inuyasha didn’t understand that. What was it that his brother wanted?

“Ok spill it Sesshoumaru. What can’t you have?”

Sesshoumaru knew Inuyasha would not ever stop badgering him if he did not tell him the truth and that meant an eternity of hell.

“I cannot have my pack or Kagura. They are dead. You cannot bring them back and going to the past changes nothing. You have your human wench. She will die before you and then you will come to me whimpering how miserable you are. It is life. Deal with it Inuyasha. I am going to bed.”

Inuyasha at first didn’t understand this at all. Why the hell would Sesshoumaru want Kagura of all people back? He would have to talk to Kagome about it. She would know. He could understand how losing one’s pack would devastate someone like Sesshoumaru, but losing the wind sorceress? That was just one of Naraku’s minions.

“I will go get the sword tonight.”

Sesshoumaru looked at the determination on Inuyasha’s face and felt some fear.

“No, you are staying here little brother or I will tie you to your bed.”

Inuyasha was going to go when Sesshoumaru grabbed one of his sensitive ears.

“OUCH! Damn it Sesshoumaru I ain’t a kid!”

Sesshoumaru knew Inuyasha had some stupid plan for him and he was not going to fall for it. There was no way now he could leave Inuyasha to his own will. He would have to watch him like a hawk.

“You will stay in your room and I will guard it tonight.”

Inuyasha went white.

“No way, you are not putting me on house arrest.”

Sesshoumaru smiled.

“It is already so. Now go to bed little brother. This now is entertaining me immensely.”
