chap 4
Inuyasha sniffed the air and cursed as he took off following her. He found Sam kneeling beside a young girl as they watched another demon attack another.
“Lord Seshomarou,” whispered the little girl.
“It’s all right young one. Now tell me which one is your friend?” said Sam as Inuyasha ran over.
“He’s the one with the tail,” growled Inuyasha.
“He looks really hurt. Inu, get me close,” she said hefting her bow.
He threw Sam to his back and ran close to the demon. She aimed at an exposed part on the underbelly and shot. She jumped from his back as the demon swiped for them, sending her one way and him the other. She landed hard on her hurt leg but fired another arrow.
“Take him down Inuyasha!” she shouted as she saw the shards drop.
She quickly rushed to Seshomarou’s fallen body and put up a barrier. She held fast as the blast from Inu’s attack came against the barrier. Breathing heavily she sank to her knees letting the barrier fall.
“Sam,” called Inu as he hurried to her side.
“I am fine. Check on him,” she said.
“Lord Seshomarou,” cried the little girl as she kneeled by the fallen demon.
“Rin? Oh kami my lord,” came a woman’s voice as she ran over.
Sam watched the woman turn over the demon and heard her gasp. Sam limped over to find the wound was not healing and something foamy was leaking out.
“Damn, he is poisoned,” she said dropping beside them. “Inu get me Kag’s pack. Now!”
She nudged the woman aside so she could pull the clothing away from the wound. She felt for his aura by laying a hand on his chest and she stifled a gasp.
“A poison demon taken down by another. This is not good,” she cursed as Inuyasha returned.
“Your going to help him?” he said.
“Yes he was protecting them,” she said. “I would do the same for you.”
“He won’t thank you for it when he wakes. I should know this, he is my brother,” he said standing beside her protectively.
“You must be Inuyasha,” said the woman pulling out a scroll. “Sesh was coming to find you and give you this.”
Sam washed the foam away as he read the scroll. He raised an eyebrow before kneeling beside her.
“Can you save him?” he asked.
“Yes,” she said. “But I need to purify the poison in him.”
She placed her hands gently on the wound and they began to glow. She spread her energy through the body taking care not to harm him. When she removed her hands she sat back exhausted.
“Sam?” he said catching her as she fainted.
“She’s done it. He is beginning to heal,” said the woman. “Oh Sesh.”
Sam’s eyes snapped open and she found herself cradled in Inu’s arms. She looked around to find the other demon being cared for by a human woman and the child. She looked down to see her leg had been bandaged and felt Inu breathe softly as he slept. He is so cute when he is sleeping she thought. Too bad he is taken
“Inu?” she said softly rubbing his ear. “Come on wake up cutie.”
His eyes blinked open and he yawned before grinning at her. She smiled back and stretched as she rolled from his lap. She turned as he opened the scroll again and saw the frustration in his eyes.
“Naraku attacked my brother’s kingdom,” he said motioning to the other demon.
“That’s your brother?” she said. “He must be full.”
“He is also alive thanks to you,” he said as they walked over. “Hey brother. Say thanks to the woman who saved you.”
“Now Inu,” said Sam.
“Have you read the scroll half brother?” growled Sesh.
Sam sighed and walked over to sit down and let them talk. She looked at her hands, scarred by the purify of the poison. She was joined by the other woman and she smiled.
“My name’s Saya. Thank you for helping my lord. Other humans wouldn’t,” she said.
“I am Samira, but you can call me Sam,” said Sam. “I am kind of used to demons.”
“I see that,” she giggled. “If he is half as annoying as his brother I do not envy you.”
“You get used to it after awhile,” giggled Sam as the brother’s began to argue. “What is this all about?”
“Lord Sesh is here to ask for Inuyasha’s help. And it is taking a lot for him to ask this,” said Saya. “We had better go break it up before they kill each other.”
Sam chuckled knowingly and followed her over. She tapped Inu and when he didn’t respond she grabbed his arm and dragged him away.
“Hey, what are you doing?” he growled when she stopped.
“Keeping your from killing your brother,” she said, flinching when a pain shot up her leg.
“What is it? Is it your leg again?” he said suddenly worried.
“It is healing slowly. But it will be all right,” she said, suddenly shouting as he threw her over his shoulder. “Inuyasha, put me down.”
“No,” he said as he carried her past the other’s.
“Umm you might want to follow us,” Sam said, as she stopped struggling. “When I get the chance Inu, you are so purified.”
“Ya ya,” he said as the other’s followed them.
“He is different from you Lord Sesh,” said Saya as she helped him walk.
“Of course. He is half stinking human,” he growled.
Saya smacked his shoulder and left him to walk on his own. He watched her back as she quickly left him behind.
“You are so stupid Lord Sesh,” giggled Rin taking Saya’s place.
Sam grunted when he tossed her onto the futon in their room. Against her protest he unwrapped her leg and cleaned it again. She coughed at the smell of the poultice he placed on it.
“I don’t even want to know what that is,” she said holding her nose.
“Sam your back,” cried Shippou happily jumping into her arms.
“Hey cutie,” she said kissing his forehead. “You eat yet?”
“Sango made ramen for me. But it isn’t as good as yours,” he chuckled as she handed him a sucker.
“Why don’t we go fix you something Inu,” she giggled when his stomach growled.
“You stay put. I will get it,” he said as he left.
“I am so glad I ate already,” said Shippou sitting in her lap.
“Hey it’s the thought that counts,” shouted Inu.
When Inuyasha came back several minutes later he found them asleep, Shippou cradled in her arms. He covered them with a blanket and walked outside. Saya’s angry smell reached his nose and he found her sitting ignoring his brother.
“What did you do this time Brother?” he growled. “You really seem to rub the women the wrong way.”
“I do not have to explain myself to a filthy hanyou such as you,” growled Sesh as he sat down.
“Hey that isn’t the way to get me to agree to help you ya know,” said Inu.
“Now look here,” said Sesh ready to argue.
“Oh why don’t you two grow up,” shouted Saya as she stood. “I should just go back home. At least my family doesn’t shout or call me a stinking human.”
“No Saya, Rin don’t want you to go,” said Rin, crying and hugging Saya’s legs. “Say your sorry Lord Seshomarou.”
Saya extracted herself from the girl and kneeled in front of her. Not expecting an apology from him she smiled at the girl.
“Ok Rin. I will stay. But just for you,” she said.
“Yay,” laughed Rin.
“Lord Seshomarou,” whispered the little girl.
“It’s all right young one. Now tell me which one is your friend?” said Sam as Inuyasha ran over.
