Unforeseen Events

Chapter 5

She had lost it. Yes that was it she had lost her mind. The past week was a dangerous one to say the least. She wondered briefly if she had some subconscious death wish because her actions seemed to be screaming ‘kill me!’ ‘hey over here kill me!’ Her mind was in overload reviewing the events that had transpired.

The past week she had managed to throw her soup at Sesshomaru for daring to dictate what she would "consume". Hey did he really have to tackle her to the ground and threaten her with the usual "painful death" bit. It’s not like it could have even hit him. Told him to get bent in front of another visiting demon lord. She was sure he had not completely understood the futurist statement, but had caught the overall jest of the statement. Not a pleasant reaction either. She swore her hair was tender for days after that dragging. Then of course there was the dinner incident. Hmmm she couldn’t even bring herself to think of it without blushing madly.

Sighing heavily she dipped her head underneath the cool lake water. Settling to the bottom she though miserably if Inuyasha even cared that she was gone. Eyes beginning to sting hotly even in the crisp water she let herself sink farther into her worst fears. He should have been here by now. Maybe he was happy that she was gone. He could start the life he always wanted with…Kikyo. No he would never abandon me we’ve been friends for years. All the things we have been through all the battles we have survived…the closeness she was certain they both had felt at times. The rare moment when they had shared a kiss. She could feel the love radiating through out his aura when their lips had met. But then again she had felt that some glowing aura from Inuyasha when ever Kikyo’s soul stealers slipped and slivered winding through trees lurking eerily for another soul fate deemed doomed to supply their master.

Breaking the surface of the water Kagome sucked in a very much needed breath of oxygen. Her lungs stilled burned. How long had she been under there? Sucking in another breath she laid back in the water. Floating aimlessly around with the hot sun beating down on her quickly had her spirits high again. Coming to a firm conclusion that Inuyasha would never abandon her and there must be something else that was keeping him from finding and rescuing her. Maybe Sesshomaru had hidden their sent and that was why it was taking so long. Yep that was it!

Once again much to his annoyance here he stood watching the miko going about her bizarre ways. For the life of him he could not remember why he had come here. All he could see was golden legs for days and midnight black hair sticking silkily to all the right curves. If only she would dip her head backwards in the water so he could get a better peak of her…WHAT THE HELL…he was not seriously just pining to see some humans rather plain breasts! Yes PLAIN BREASTS!

Shaking himself roughly mentally he saw the miko disappear beneath the glass looking surface of the water. What is she doing now? This is by far the strangest human I have ever encountered. Why is she staying beneath the surface. Has she lost even more of her little sanity. And yes it was apparent to him that she had very little mental normalcy.

Growling deep in his chest he began to become annoyed because surly this feeling Sesshomaru was experiencing was not worry. Enough, it is confirmed she has lost all rational thought and now believes she no longer needs air to carry on her pitiful existence. Leaping above the trees and bushes that had concealed his presence he decided he would drag that crazy miko to the surface of the water and make her breathe air whether she liked it or not.

Nearing the area of water just slightly above the miko he saw her let out a large bubble of water and propel herself off the rocky bottom of the lake. Not wanting the little miko to think the worst, like he was spying on her while she was in the nude, he quickly pushed himself off the surface of the water landing back behind his cover that nature had so kindly provided him. His foot had barely scratched the surface of the water. Despite having jumped off of water his shoes remained completely dry.

Watching the miko in case she got any more odd ideas he come to the conclusion that she was indeed safe for the moment and began to walk back towards the castle.

"Inuyasha!" Came the cold voice of the dead priestess.

Snapping back into reality Inuyasha quickly realized his mistake. "Sorry Kikyo, I was..just—"

"You need not bother me with a lie Inuyasha. I know very well who has been distracting your thought from me." Stopping dead in her tracks she turned her dull brown eyes onto the once vibrant golden eyes that at one time sparkled with a bit of mischief. Now the his eye seemed tired and preoccupied. "Do you wish to go to her."

"No! Kikyo I—" Cutting him off again she continued her line of questioning without giving time for the dog demon to respond with an answer.

"Has our traveling ceased to please you. Have you second thoughts Inuyasha. Do think to save her from your brother."

Paling at the mention of his brother he quickly gathered his composure and shook his head no "Feh like I care!" Turning his back her to hide his face that he was sure to give away the truth.

"Good" Continuing on down the path that lead to a village that rumored to be suffering from strange bouts of illnesses that resulted in many deaths she stated in a rather monotone voice "You would be foolish and unsuccessful in saving her. It is too late you are no match for your brother."

Settling in between the soft and welcoming sheets of her bed Kagome assumed her day would end uneventfully…for once. In an almost dream like state she suddenly felt a powerful aura close to her that had only seconds ago had not been there. Bolting upright in her bed forgetting to cover her slinky almost see through nightie her unexpected visitor become obviously clear.

"What are you doing here?" Her breath had hitched in her throat making the statement come out oddly soft and breathy. Pulling the covers up to cover her scandalously exposed body she scooted as far back as her bed would allow.

"Your blood" Came the bone chilling statement.

Sorry about taking so long to update but the weather has gotten so nice here I just had to spend it outside. Promise to make the updates more frequent.
