Power of Two Jewels

Kagome awoke to a breeze drifting in through her bedroom window. Seeing as it was one of those strange warm winter days, she really couldn’t complain. However, as it was, she dressed in only a pair of short black shorts and a black sports bra. Thus, she was cold.

Leaping from the warmth of her bed, Kagome latched the window and took a minute to stare out at the normally icy world. Her hand came up to shadow the sun beating down warm and happy upon her. She sighed when she finally turned from the light and jerked the curtains closed before stripping down and tugging on a pair of low rise hip huggers and a black tank top.

With a twist in front of her vanity to ensure her appearance, she headed out her bedroom door to be nearly over run by Souta. “Hi Kagome!” He shouted at her before disappearing around the corner and down the stairs.

“Good morning Souta.” She mumbled to the now empty hallway. Shaking her head with a wry smile she turned off towards the stairs and began the descent. Halfway down she was hit with the sound of her mother speaking with someone.

“She’s still upstairs sleeping. But she’s usually up about now anyway.” Yukino spoke.
“That’s alright, I’ve got the next 5 and a half months to meet her.” A young females voice answered.

Kagome rounded the corner to the kitchen then with a bright smile. The other girl in the room snapped her head in her direction as if knowing she was about to enter. Her elbow length red hair, a beautiful fiery color in the morning sunlight, and bright emerald green eyes standing out against her pale white skin.

She flashed a smile and stood upon Kagome’s entrance. She wore a floor length black skirt with a black string halter top. Yukino too stood. “Ah, Kagome, this is Amy Hunter.” She introduced as Amy held out a hand.

“Pleased to meet you Kagome.” She spoke with a sweet accent less voice.

Kagome took her hand and shook as an unfamiliar feeling of having known the girl washed over her. Blue met green and Amy seemed to have encountered the feeling as well. Kagome was the first to release the hand shake and step back with Amy’s brows creasing for the briefest of seconds. Had Kagome not been used to Sesshoumaru’s cold stoic looks she would have thought the emotion had never been there.

“So Kagome?” Her mother’s voice broke through her thoughts, causing her to give herself a mental shake and turn to face her.

“Pardon?” She asked, feeling foolish for having tuned out her mum in front of their guest.

Yukino laughed before hugging her daughter to her chest. “She’s so funny sometimes. I said, I thought it would be nice if you would take Amy and show her the rest of the house as well as where she’ll be sleeping.” She said then.

Kagome smiled and nodded. “Yeah, I think I can handle that.” She said grabbing an apple off the counter and turned towards the doorway. “Lets start with the main floor shall we?” She suggested.

Once out into the living room she indicated exactly which room it was before showing her the bathroom and den as well. Then up the stairs they proceeded. Amy carried a back pack of black with her as it was obviously crammed with thing which had belonged to her, as well as a medium sized suitcase, also crammed.

At the landing Kagome showed the library and loft off, then the four bedrooms, including the guestroom which was to be Amy’s new residence.

“And this is my room.” Kagome offered pushing open the door to her room to find Inuyasha, glaring and about to lay into her when he saw Amy in the doorway.

“Inuyasha. What are you doing here?!” Kagome started but was halted from continuing in her rant when she noticed the silent exchange taking place between the two. Amy’s emerald eyes were glued to gold and her smile slowly dripped from the corners of her ruby red lips.

“Well then. Inuyasha, this is Amy hunter, and Amy this is …” She started only to be cut off by the fiery red head.

“Inuyasha, yes I know.” She breathed stepping into the room and holding out a long slim hand to shake his. “I never thought I’d see you ever again, but, my god, you’ve grown up.” She breathed in shock.
