Chapter 4
Departures


Kagome was so happy! The day to leave was finally here! She could hardly stand still she was fidgeting so much. Everyone, even a pissed off Inuyasha, were assembled at the gates to the village. It was dawn the sun just now rising above the horizon shading the sky in pinks, reds and oranges. Sango was also fidgeting but for a very different reason than Kagome. Sango still had her reservations about Sesshoumaru. No matter what was going on now he had at one time been their enemy. Had even tried to kill Kagome twice. Still she trusted her friend to know when to back down.
Kagome stilled for the first time as she saw Sesshoumaru walking toward them, she was the first to see him so when everyone noticed that she had stopped fidgeting they all looked down the road. He was leading Ah-Un toward them. When he came to a stop in front of Kagome he smiled, and gave her a slight bow as he took her hand in his to kiss her knuckles lightly. When he heard low growling he stood up straight and glared at his half-brother.

“Inuyasha, why so hostile? You are allowed to come along are you not? Although it is unfortunate that I did extend that offer, but for Kagome…”

“Why don’t ya just SHUT UP!”

Sesshoumaru smirked at the hanyou, “A bit immature aren’t we? Why don’t you go find your dead whore brother? You seem to leave an awful lot to visit her… isn’t that where you were last night?”

“SHUT IT SESSHOUMARU! GO FUCK YOURSELF!”

Turning back to the rest of the group he looked at Kagome and seeing the tears in her eyes felt guilty for the first time ever about goading his younger sibling into a fine rage. “Kagome we will be leaving shortly you and your kit can ride Ah-Un, Sango I assume you and Miroku will ride Kirara? Good. Oh, Inuyasha, do try to keep up and not get strayed by Kikyo… understood?”

“Whatever”

“Good, Kagome please follow me.”

Leading her over to Ah-Un he paused letting the kitsune rush ahead to the waiting dragon. Looking at Kagome he whispered in her ear “I am sorry if what I said hurt you. But he does not want you can’t you see it?”

“I know he doesn’t but I am his friend, and I can’t stop caring.”

“Time to go are you ready?”

“Yes, will we be taking a rest today or travel until nightfall?”

“We shall take a rest at noon.”

Calling forth his demon cloud he signaled to everyone that the time had come to leave. As the group was leaving Kagome looked back at the village and waved farewell to Kaede.

Around 10 that morning Kagome noticed that Sesshoumaru had traveled at her side on his demon cloud the entire time, when he caught her looking at him he winked at her. She blushed a pretty pink and looked away.

With the wind blowing through her hair Kagome started to drift off into another daydream.

As they stood on the balcony outside her room he wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed the juncture of her neck and shoulder. “hmmm Hi Sesshoumaru.” He turned her around to face him, he kissed her softly on the lips, she sighed and closed her eyes. He called forth his demon cloud and lifted them both into the air, taking his right hand from around her waist he let it travel up her back to her neck then into her soft hair. His left went to grip her firm ass, after traveling for ten minutes he let the cloud descend onto a lake shore in the mountains. After releasing her mouth he moved her towards a blanket that was set up on the shore facing the lake. Kagome couldn’t believe her eyes. It was the most romantic spot she had ever seen. The smooth surface of the lake reflected the stars and the full moon. When Sesshoumaru looked at her he saw all the stars shining in her eyes only half were reflections the rest were shining from her soul. He couldn’t look away from her, he was entranced by the beauty inside her soul..

Kagome was brought out of her daze by a pair of hands wrapping around her waist and bringing her down off of Ah-Un. Sesshoumaru smirked, smelling an alluring scent as though there were lilacs in full bloom, he couldn’t believe it Kagome was aroused…
