Yours Truly
Chapter 4
Sesshomaru had seen and smelled them approach his estate. He knew that they would be very cautious about being in his presence, but that somehow made his feelings of respect for the Hanyou grow a notch. He had never expected him to live as long as he had, and as much as he had hated him his feelings had changed somewhat. No one would ever be able to look at him; with his cold eyes and expressionless face and be able to tell you how he felt though. He was the pillar of perfection. He had learned at an early age that feelings got you nowhere so he blocked them off from the world. He enjoyed simple things that he would never admit to anyone.
Rin had been preparing for their guests ever since he had seen her leave her balcony. He enjoyed the fact that she often would take to her balcony while he was in his library. She must have known that he knew she watched him from her tower. To believe anything else would have been very naive. There was never a problem with it as long as she attended to her chores beforehand. She had been excited at the fact that she was given the opportunity to have guests. Considering the fact that Sesshomaru barely allowed the maids to roam freely around the estate. Trust is an awfully dirty thing when you don’t have any.
Rin was now finished with her chores for the day and had considered a short stay with her Master in his library. She never knew what to expect when she was in his presence. He was always unpredictable. Maybe since they were having company soon he would be in a good mood. Upon entering the room she was informed of the arrival of their guests. Her beautiful Lord Sesshomaru was standing in the window to the library watching them as they had approached. He admired the way the Miko was interested in the stone carvings as they walked along the walkway to the door. She wondered slightly what he thought of the Miko, but only briefly. Jealousy was never one of her vices. If it had been she wouldn’t have been around as long as she had.
"Rin, Please see to it that our guests are taken care of, and have some of the maids attend to them. They must be terribly tired from their journey to our lands."
"Yes Lord Sesshomaru. I'll show them to their rooms."
She was a little displeased at the fact that she had been sent away so soon, but quickly passed it off since their guests had arrived. She couldn’t help but be happy herself. Company at last. Someone she could talk to that she hadn’t bored to death yet with her meanderings. She had begun to walk away when he had called her again.
"Rin wait, show them to one room. They have business to attend to." With a nod of her head and a radiant smile she set off to entertain their guests.
It was a slightly long walk to the door, but she hasted her steps in anticipation of the prize that was waiting on the other side. Kagome was a prize indeed. She had met her several times over the years while traveling the lands with her beautiful Lord. She had only a few chances to spend time with her for more than ten minutes, and that was while her Lord and his Hanyou brother were fighting. The chance to actually sit down and talk to her woman to woman was truly a joyous occation6that she planed on not wasting a minute of.
*****ooooo*****
Rin opened the door with her usual overly exuberant smile, and was very pleased to see that Kagome was there to return it. It was a very rare occasion that anyone on the grounds ever smiled except for Rin. Rin had been a very strange addition to Lord Sesshomaru's life from the very beginning. She was always smiling and laughing and most of all being happy all the time. The ranks around Sesshomaru never understood why she was so important to him.
She led the very bewildered guests to their room and left them to attend to themselves before dinner. Her master had said they had important business to take care of upon their arrival, but she didn’t have the faintest idea as to what that may be. She would also never know because she wouldn’t ask her Lord and risk his tender mercies.
"Master Inuyasha, Lady Kagome this is your room. It’s so nice of you to come. I’ll show you around. The bathing chamber is on the left rear wall and the wardrobe on either wall is fitted with attire for your stay. I really hope you both enjoy it here. It's nice to have someone different to talk to for a change. It tends to get very boring around here without company. Take a look around and make yourself acquainted with your surroundings. If you need anything feel free to ask. The Maids will be in shortly to assist you with anything you need and I’ll be back in a few hours to show you to the dinner hall. See you then." She had almost talked too fast for them to keep up, but for her it was a usual speed.
"Thank you Rin." Kagome muttered as their talkative hostess turned to leave.
Inuyasha took it upon himself to judge the quarters they had been placed in. The room was massive. It was adorned with a very large four poster bed with drapes. It had a sitting area with a fireplace on the far wall. On either side of the room was a built-in stone wardrobe with enough clothes for them to live there. Kagome's clothes were all shaded to match her lovely brown eyes and her raven hair. Inuyasha's clothes were all either entirely white or completely red. The time of the intricacy that went on them must have taken weeks to perform. Sesshomaru had been planning this invitation for some time, and it showed with the accommodations that had been provided them.
They looked next at the bathing chamber. It was most definitely the beautiful point of the entire room. The wardrobes in the bedroom had been beautiful, but this was positively breathtaking. The floor was sand-stone marble and the bath was easily the size of a pool, but what really completed the room was a mirror that spanned one entire wall. Kagome had never seen one in this time and she was sure she wasn't going find another one with the beauty this one retained. She had doubts that the crafters of her modern time would be able to craft such beauty into their work. The mirror was oval in shape but also contained gold-pressed Inu-Youki shapes around the outer edges. It wasn’t even framed; it was pressed then set into the wall.
"Inu........yasha, have you ever seen anything like this anywhere?"
"Keh, this is what you do when you have way too much time to kill. I think Sesshomaru might have overdone it. He’s just a show off anyway. Too much class has gone to his head." He was seemingly unimpressed, but Kagome had known him long enough to know better. At a glance his brother seemingly had everything, and yet he cared about nothing. Or had that changed.
“Maybe it wasn’t Sesshomaru who decorated it. You know he isn’t the only person who’s lived here. Your dad lived her once you know.” She had almost felt sorry for saying what she said, but the fact that it was true still might have hurt him a little.
“Keh, well maybe he was a showoff too.”
“You know better than that. Inuyasha you should be ashamed of yourself. This is your family.”
“Keh. What would Sesshomaru know about family? He never wanted me before now, so why would he want me now?”
Kagome didn’t really know what to say. She has spent so much time in the past years trying to get Sesshomaru to stop trying to kill Inuyasha that she had forgotten that it worked the other way around too. This was a battle that she wasn’t about to win.
*****ooooo*****
Rin was astounded to step out the door and hear them star to fight. What kind of business could two people who fight like that possibly have to finish. She would never have talked to her Lord like that; at least if she did she wouldn’t live to tell about it anyway. She decided to give up on her slight invasion of privacy an turned to skip along the halls with her usually chipper excitement. She had company. They had finally arrived.
I hope you are enjoying it. Drop me a message to let me know what you think. Once again I don’t wanna make the Inu/Kag scenes too long because this fiction isn’t about them.
Thanx for reading. Read on..............
