Chapter 4
Day 2 ½: If He Can So Can I
The sun crept upon the sleeping couple, the fire nearly dying out leaving only a small flame and some red coals. The island came alive, and animals scurried looking for their morning meal.
An eight-legged spider crawled up on the warming sands, as it found its way over to the still sleeping Kagome. Its thick brown hairy legs crawled up onto the blazer, making his way towards her chest.
Kagome woke feeling something on her. When she opened her eyes, she was staring into the black beady eyes of a tarantula. A horrendous scream echoed through the isle scaring off any nearby animals. Kagome flung her jacket off as the large furry arachnid scurried away. She stood up, causing pain to shoot through her legs once more; her feet were still very tender. Leaning her weight off the swollen foot, she brushed herself off in case there were any unwelcome guests still sleeping with her. The very thought of a huge spider with fangs the size of a sharpened pencil point scared her immensely.
Inuyasha awoke to her screeching; he sat up quickly as he watched her shaking her clothes and thrashing her fingers through her hair. He yawned since there was no real danger. “What the hell is wrong with you?”
“What the hell is wrong with me?” She panted, trying to remain calm and not hysterical; however, she was losing it quickly. “What the hell is wrong with me? I will tell you what’s wrong with me!” she stated as tears ran freely down her cheeks. “First I meet you, and then I get stuck on this God forsaken hell hole, with you! Subsequently, I sprained my ankle. Then this giant spider decided to make a home on my chest!” Her breathing was shallow; she began to shake. She then buckled on the sand bringing her hands to her face, trying to wipe the torrent of tears.
Inuyasha tried to understand her, under her panic induced state. He hated to see a women cry, and she was no exception. He quickly stood up and approached her. Bringing her into a tight but warm embrace, he spoke softly. “I am sorry, please stop crying. It will be okay, you’ll see. I will not let anything happen to you, and we will get off this hellhole as you put it, I promise.”
‘How could I have called him a monster?’ she contemplated. ‘I am the monster. I am the one who was mean to him, and here he’s trying too comfort me.’
“Inuyasha?” She whispered as her speech became sober.
“Yeah?” He said, stroking her hair and back, as he rocked back and forth with her.
“I just wanted to let you know that I made a mistake.”
He stopped rocking, as he listened to what she was trying to say. “What mistake is that?”
She sniffled then looked into his golden hues, “I am sorry for calling you a monster. You are no monster, that spider was the monster…not you.” She began to cry once again.
“Shh, there, there it’ll be okay,” he tried not to chuckle, “Yes, you are right that spider was more of a monster than I am.”
She began to laugh.
“Now, let’s say we look at your wounds and see if I can do anything with these gashes that are all over your body,” he said soothingly, lifting her chin up. Inuyasha smacked himself mentally for even forgetting her state. ‘How could I be such an idiot? What if she gets an infection?’ He berated himself.
Pulling her away from his embrace, her redden eyes, gazed at him. Observing her face, there were a couple of small scratches, “Kagome?”
“Yes.”
“I’m going to lick your wounds, please don’t be alarmed, my saliva will stop the gash from festering, and it will also help you heal faster. Do you understand?”
Kagome nodded her head in agreement.
Inuyasha smiled, “Good, and please don’t call me Sandy again. By the way, who’s Sandy, if you don’t mind me asking?” He requested calmly, hoping that she wouldn’t bite his head off again, and since she was complying, he began to lick her day old wounds.
His tongue was soft and warm, as it caressed her skin. She began to feel an overwhelming amount of warmth spread throughout her body, and she did not want him to stop. His tongue dipped from her chin down towards her neck.
“She’s my dog.”
Her taste was sweet, the dried blood heavenly; he did not even hear her speak, “What was that?”
“Aren’t you paying attention? I said Sandy is my dog,” she repeated, feeling his caress once again.
“What kind of dog?” He mumbled, not wanting to stop.
After he was satisfied with her neck, he noticed small abrasions on the top of her breasts. ‘Do I dare?’ he contemplated. ‘Oh, come on...what’s the worse thing she’s going to do to you?’ He swallowed hard, and then surrendered to the sweet taste of ecstasy.
Her breasts became moist with his smooth tongue as it grazed around her cleavage. She could feel her chest constricting, fighting the sudden urges to take him right there. Kagome’s body was on fire, just by his simple caress. She was thirty-one and was in her prime. It did not matter who he was; her body was alive with a tingling sensation awaiting his touch, and simple stroke of his hot tongue.
Her spicy fragrance hit Inuyasha’s nose hard. ‘She’s aroused.’ He smirked, deciding to toy with her more, “I am sorry I didn’t hear you. What kind of dog do you have?” he asked while following her heavenly scent toward her long lean legs.
“I… have… a… pug,” she said, gasping for air, while holding off the sudden desire to strip her clothes off and fuck him senseless. Wanting to grab his head and bring him closer to her lips, she decided against it and instead, she fisted her small hands in the sand.
He growled when smelling a contagion in her very foot she hurt yesterday.
Hearing Inuyasha growl, she came out of her lustful trance, “What’s the matter?”
“The bottom of your foot is infected, and it’s beginning to fester. I am going to have to cut into your wound to reopen it, so I can drain the puss. This is going to hurt, and for that I’m sorry,” Inuyasha suggested, as he shifted seating positions so that he now sat Indian style across from her. Carefully placing the injury in his lap, he gave her a pleading look, before slicing the abrasion with a single claw. The smell was pungent; he could still see some of the wood that had embedded in her foot the prior day. Using his claws like a pair of tweezers, he cleaned out the rest of her gash. He then began to lick the angry wound, trying to keep the vile taste from making him sick.
Kagome fell backwards; the pain was intense, as tears streamed down her face once again. She closed her eyes, eagerly hoping that he would soon be done.
It killed him to see her distress; he was finished, satisfied that he had indeed fixed her lacerations. Leaning over her pained body, he kissed her forehead trying to make amends for hurting her. “I’m sorry.” He pleaded, and then scooped the still crying girl into his strong arms, as he walked over to a single palm tree. “Here you need rest.” As he pulled off his tattered jacket, crumbling up into a ball, then placing her foot upon it. Walking back towards the dying fire, he picked up her jacket and did the same. “Keep this elevated, and I will be back with some breakfast as soon as the fire eats first.” He chuckled lightly as he strode off.
“What are you, some kind of Doctor?” She asked sarcastically.
Inuyasha stopped, turning to face her once again, “No I’m a prosecuting attorney.” He smirked, loving the shocked expression from the dragon-lady herself.
Quickly Inuyasha gathered some more firewood, and satisfied that the fire was once again alive, he found a long narrow stick. He smiled as he sat down next to the fire, with a medium size rock and began sharpening the end of the rod, turning it into a fishing spear. Appreciating his fine work, he made haste returning towards the ocean.
Removing his dirt covered cream oxford; Inuyasha let the sunrays warm his well-toned chest. Then, he discarded his shoes and socks, leaving him only in his pants. Raising his spear like some warrior ready for a good fight, he slowly entered the cool water. Waves crashed hard into his muscular legs, almost fighting him from returning to its cold embrace; he progressed further.
The water was clear, and he could see many tropical color fish swim in and out of the brightly colored coral. The fear of coming across a shark crossed his mind, however, he pressed on. His strides were precise as he entered into the shallows, not wanting too slice the bottom of his souls with the sharp edges of the coral below him.
A shiny object caught his attention as he stood on the flat part of the rock. He watched it glisten from the suns golden rays. Taking a deep breath, he leaned over ready to make his dive as he tightened his grip on the man-made spear.
Flattening his ears, so the water would not agitate them, he opened his eyes. The salt water burned them, however he ignored the pain and swam deeper finding the object. Inuyasha quickly resurfaced, climbing back onto his sanctuary. He just did not feel comfortable not knowing what was underneath him. Picking up his treasure, he gasped. ‘This is my concealment bracelet, how in the hell! I thought I lost it!’ Finding the charm only reminded him of Kaede. ‘You will always be in my heart my old friend.’ Sadness swept through him recalling the old woman that lived two hundred years ago.
Inuyasha remembered her like it was yesterday. The petite, stout gray haired woman was always giving him grief about his temper. He chuckled, or how she would try to obtain him to get along with his elder brother. “I found you again, my old friend. You are forever in my heart.” He mourned while placing the sliver jewelry close to his heart.
He hurdled onto shore and stuck the silver trinket into his shoe. ‘At least it will be safe here.’
Making his way back into the water, his hunt was successful. He had caught four nice sized fish. Making clean work of his kill, he threw the scraps into the bluish-green water.
When Inuyasha returned where he left Kagome, he could see the astute look she was giving him. ‘What did I do now?’ He glared at her, ready for the sudden assault from his spirited companion.
“Where the hell have you been? I have been sitting here for hours it seems. My back hurts, I can’t walk, and I need to go pee,” she said candidly.
“Well, excuse me! And, believe me, sweetheart, I would rather sit on my ass than risk my life so you can eat.”
“You eat too, so quit bitching, and help me up!” Kagome screamed; she was sure her bladder was going to burst any minute.
“No!”
“Oh, you can’t be serious. Would you rather I piss myself?” She snapped.
“Bitch I really don’t care what you do!” Inuyasha responded coldly, turning his back on then made his way to cook his breakfast, mumbling, “Ungrateful bitch.”
Kagome huffed, “Fucking bastard!” She yelled again, hoping that he could hear her. Slowly standing, she cried trying hard not to let any pressure on her injury. Limping over to the forest, she found a nearby bush. Squatting down, she thought of a million and one ways to kill him, even though she knew it was her fault to begin with. She just could not help herself. ‘I cannot let him get too close to me. I just can’t.’ As she argued with herself, her stomach began to protest. The tantalizing scent of cooked fish drifted throughout her nose.
Wobbling back to camp, she watched Inuyasha eat in front of her. Her mouth drooled as he succulently ate the cooked fish. Only teasing her stomach more, she growled, “That bastard, he knows I can’t walk and yet…” She sighed. She had to be honest with herself. This was all her fault. “Me and my big mouth.”
“What was that? You’re not hungry are you?” Inuyasha teased.
She did not respond. ‘If I can start a business and run it successfully I think I can catch a fish,’ she thought unwaveringly. With her mindset, Kagome carefully stood up, favoring her wounded leg and staggering over to Inuyasha. She grabbed his spear and with determination, she limped her way towards the ocean.
Inuyasha just watched on. He was curious to see just how she would manage. He chuckled, “Yeah, she will be begging me by the end of the night for food.”
With pride and ambition before her, she slowly made her way down the beach. The sand was hot under the scrutinizing sun. She needed to be quick. Out in the water with no suntan lotion could be a painful day ahead of her. Leaving her dirty camisole on, she removed her knee length skirt, simply leaving her in her undergarments, looking at the dangling threads of the garter, she unsnapped them and let them fall besides her apparel.
Inuyasha’s mouth fell as he watched her undress, her body extremely toned, and he could see the detail of the muscles in her arms, stomach, and legs. He could not help but look at her, with his roaming eyes.
Clinching her teeth as she entered the warm waters, she could not help but cringe when the salt entered her abrasion. She could see the fish below. Diving in headfirst, ignoring the stinging in her eyes, her ambition was strong. Kagome was determined that she would come out of the water successful. Her hair danced freely around her, as she watched her unsuspecting prey.
With precise aim, Kagome managed to spear her first fish, even if it was an unsuspecting stingray. Resurfacing, she held her game proudly raising it up over her head; a large grin complimented her radiance. She made it back to shore, coming out of the water. The silken blouse clung tightly accentuating her curvy features. Her hair wet and exotic, dripping down her body like some Amazon woman coming home with her kill. Quickly, she dressed back into her skirt and picked up her garters, ‘You might need these.’ Glancing over to where Inuyasha sat, she could see his eyes closed. “This is going to be fun,” she smirked as she hobbled back towards the camp.
Placing her quarry into the fire, she awaited until the smell of fish reached his sensitive nose.
Inuyasha patiently waited for her to emerge from her hunt; he just simply could not keep his eyes open. However, when he closed his eyes, he instantaneously imagined her outfit as he ripped it off her body, only to attack her fiercely ravaging her very core with his slick tongue. He was not aware that she had made it back to the site until he smelt the heavenly aroma that recently bestowed the fire.
Inuyasha’s shocked expression amused her to no end. ‘And to think I needed him around.’ She smiled at the thought, supercilious of her accomplishment.
“Well, it’s about time you returned! And, what the fuck is that in the fire?” He provoked her almost as if he were jealous of her victory kill. Inuyasha wanted to wipe that pretty little smirk off her face, however his eyes were located on a pair of nipples smiling at him through the soaked outfit. He tried to breath; he could feel his sudden desire spring to life.
Trying to hide her pain from the previous swim, Kagome would not let him get her down. “You have two eyes. What the hell does it look like to you?” she inquired, flipping over the steak cooking the other side of the ray. She had to admit; it was hard at first to take a life. Yet under strenuousness circumstances, she needed to eat too.
A large “Boom” sound echoed in the distance followed by a crackling sound. Inuyasha stood his ears twitched like there was some pending danger. Sniffing the air, he growled. “We need to find shelter...There’s a fierce storm heading towards us!”
“Huh?” Kagome replied obtusely. Staring at the bright blue sky, she could see fluffy white clouds floating by their heads. ‘Is he serious? I don’t see a storm cloud in the sky.’
Noticing her puzzling expression, he decided to motivate her. “Did you not hear what I said? We have to go find shelter, or would you rather stay out here and take the chances with the storm?”
“What storm? I don’t see a gray cloud in the sky.”
“What are you stupid? Did you not just hear the thunder off in the distance?”
She shook her head, “No! And, I don’t plan on going anywhere until I eat.”
Inuyasha felt defeated. He really did not want to leave her alone during a storm, and could smell the intensity of the weather heading their way. “Then take it with you!” he shouted, anxiously. He just wanted to find a safe place to camp for the night.
‘He’s totally serious about this so called storm, and he’s worried about me.’ Kagome considered, only staring into his fierce golden hues. “Okay Inuyasha! I believe you,” she reassured as she started gathering the rest of her clothing, and most importantly making sure she didn’t forget her kill.
Inuyasha quickly covered the fire with some sand; he didn’t need a forest fire on their hands as well. He had no knowledge of how volatile these storms could be. His instincts were screaming at him to move quickly.
The sound of thunder rumbled; the storm sounded closer than before as the trees began to sway back and forth from the strong winds.
Without thinking, Inuyasha threw Kagome over his shoulder. “Just what in the hell are you doing Inuyasha?” She screeched as she still had a death grip on her dinner.
“I already told you, saving your ass!” Inuyasha snorted while running into the forest. He remembered the waterfalls. Usually there were some rock configurations. Hoping that one of those formations had a cave, one hand wrapped tightly around her thighs, his other free hand chopped down any foliage that had gotten in his way, razor sharp claws slicing easily as if they were used like a machete.

Mrs. Higurashi stood in the kitchen making lunch for her son. Turning on the local Cleveland news, she could hear the commentator say, “On other news: flight 127 from Miami to Jamaica crashed, and unfortunately the whereabouts of the plane is unknown, as well any information of survivors. Please call 1-800-555-5555 if you need further information. Sally back to you.”
Her tall, lean frame leaned on the kitchen island clutching her heart, her head became dizzy as her legs collapsed under her, and she began to sob uncontrollably. She had just lost her baby girl. “No! God no not her, please don’t take my baby!” She screamed uncontrollably, as the tears streamed down her slender oval face, as her, long black hair drooped over her shoulder.
