“Blah”-speaking
‘Blah’-thinking
*Flash Back*-Flash Back
Sango didn’t wake up until much later that night. “Neesan?” she called out into the darkness. Anniya didn’t move she wanted her sister to use her nose and sniff her out. Sango did just that “Why are you mad at me?” she asked in a shocked and hurt voice. But Anniya wasn’t speaking to her sister so she thought what she had to say ‘You know damn well why I’m mad at you’ she thought angrily. Sango frowned ‘No I don’t’ she whined to her sister as she went to go sit next to her. “You have dishonored your family” Anniya said with as much venom as she could muster. “I never thought that I would see any of you again. I wanted to forget, I didn’t want to miss you. Eventually I did manage to forget about most of it, it’s all fuzzy in my memory. I didn’t want to be remembered of a home that I couldn’t return to” she cried. “Do you remember the time we broke that vase?” Anniya asked quietly. Sango thought for a long time “The one with the swans and ducks on it?” she asked with her eyes shut. Anniya laughed “Yea, that one” she said as she remembered that day.
*Flash Back*
Two young hanyou children were speeding down the hallways of a palace. “Young princess shouldn’t be running through the palace…be lucky that the Queen is in the grand hall holding a council meeting” said the maid Maddie. The young girls giggled “You won’t tell on us will you Aunt Maddie?” asked the older of the two. The maid just laughed and shook her head “Hear take these seeds and go play in the gardens” she said with a smile. The girls nodded and ran off towards the gardens. But on the way the bumped in to one of their mothers priceless vases.
“Neesan, run were gonna get caught” the littlest one whined trying to push her sister away from the vase. But her sister wouldn’t move “Princess do not run, I’m going to go tell momma as soon as she’s done with council” she said fixing her dress. “Come Sango” she said importantly. Sango followed closely behind her sister.
When they reached the doors of the grand hall they saw that council was already getting out. They bowed their heads in respect to the passing kings and queens. When they saw their mother Anniya dipped into a bow, most children wouldn’t do this to their mother but Anniya had a higher respect for her mother. Yanori dipped her head into a bow to her children “What are you two doing down here, why aren’t you outside playing?” she asked. Anniya smiled she always said that her mother’s voice was created by the lands of milk and honey. “Sango and I have been acting foolish. In out foolishness we knocked over one of your vases” she said holding her head high, she would not cower before her mother.
Yanori smirked “You could have easily fixed it or have you forgotten that you are a witch?” he mother asked her in a mocking tone. Anniya stood her ground “True but then how would I learn. If I had fixed it I would have still continued to run down the corridors like a young elephant and my sister would never get over her fear of your anger” she said looking her mother right in the eye.
“You have never been afraid of me, you look me dead in the eyes and you speak the truth. You back down for no one not even your own family, I am most proud of you Anniya. Although you are only eleven your training begins tomorrow so sleep tight little one” she said as she rose from her throne. Anniya bowed low “Yes, my Queen” she said with such emotion that it hurt her to say just those three words.
*End of Flashback*
“What will you do now that you are in this time?” Sango asked her sister with a curios look in her features. Anniya blushed but held her calm demeanor “I plan to travel with Sesshomaru, that child Rin and I have a strong connection. But fear not for I will come to visit you” she said reassuringly. Sango sighed “How can you do both?” she said in a defeated tone. Anniya softly slapped herself in the forehead “You never did get to know about it. Sango, I’m a star runner” she said excitedly. Sango sat there looking dumbfounded “Really?” and Anniya just nodded.
“I want you to be careful around Sesshomaru” Sango said sternly. Anniya just laughed “Sesshomaru isn’t as bad as everyone makes him out to be” she said blushing yet again. “You know nothing about him” Sango argued trying to make her point heard. “He hates half-demons and humans” she said pointing to Anniya’s dog ears. “But yet he lets Rin tag along with him everywhere he goes” Anniya said with a smile. Sango growled “But he hates half-demons” she growled angrily. “If he hates half-demons so much then why did he kiss me? Sometimes people don’t act the same way in public as they do in private. Sometimes people make exceptions.” She said calmly.
Sango was again dumbfounded by something that her sister had said “He kissed you?” she asked with a hint of disgust in her voice. “Don’t say it like that. He’s not a bad person, he’s bitter, yes but sometimes people change. Sometimes they change for the good and sometimes for the bad. You can ask Inuyasha, when he was younger he loved Sesshomaru too. No matter how much you’ve changed I still love you” she stood clutching the door frame “Sesshomaru may be a demon but he had flaws just like any other human. Like all humans he has the will to change, he just needs some help. I’ll be back within three days” she said and walked away.
When she stepped out of the hut she saw that Sesshomaru was standing outside waiting for her. ‘How much did he hear?’ she thought as she walked towards him. He bowed his head in silent thanks “You’re welcome” she said softly as she looked deeply in his eyes. There was something within those amber eyes that made her heart melt. They held no emotion but at the same time they were filled with emotion. Of course such a statement would make sense to only on other person and that was Ayinna, her twin which was her name spelled backwards. She jumped up onto Ah-un’s back right behind Rin and they began to move. Anniya looked back towards the village and sighed “Some day you will understand but I hope it is soon” she muttered.
The next day was a cold one or at least that’s what Rin told them, they couldn’t really feel the cold. Anniya started a fire and Rin fell asleep once she was fed and warm. Jaken was starting to warm up to Anniya and vise versa, she sent him to go walk Ah-un so that she could talk with Sesshomaru. “Winter is coming fast this year” he stated and Anniya simply nodded in agreement. “You are still troubled, what is it that worries you so?” he asked sincerely. Anniya did not know how to answer his question.
“It’s hard to say. The large part of it is my sister and how she has been acting, she thinks that certain people cannot change” she said quietly. Sesshomaru hummed “Meaning me?” he asked with the faint traces of a smirk gracing his features. Once again Anniya nodded “They say that a persons eyes are the gateway to their soul. Behind the hard exterior of your eyes I know you are a good person inside. You’ve just been hurt or betrayed in some way, I just don’t know how” she said distantly.
Sesshomaru growled at that comment, he didn’t like people prying into his personal life. He grabbed her hands and pushed her back roughly on the ground, he straddled her hips. He held her neck as if he were going to choke her but instead he captured her lips in a bruising kiss “Do you still believe that I am so nice?” he asked in a mocking tone.
A/N: Sorry but I had to leave you with a cliffhanger. Until next time!
