Kitsune Tails

Kagome woke up again for the second time to the sound of Inu yasha's voice.

"Kagome, love? Its time to wake up now. Kagome?" Inu yasha's voice was calm but urgent.

"Mmm.......What time is it?" Kagome asked with her eyes still shut. She was still a little drowsy. It seemed the more she slept the more tired she became.

"It’s nearly noon" Inu yasha said in a low voice. Well that did it Kagome was fully awake now she sat up so fast her head was spinning, though that might have been because her head came into contact with Inu yasha’s as she sat up.

"Ow ow ow ow" She grumbled as she rubbed her forehead. Inu yasha gave the term hard headed a whole new meaning.

"You really should open your eyes before sitting up so fast like that....." Inu yasha said with a smile on his face.

"Very funny..." Kagome said trying to sound upset but her own little smile betrayed her true feelings.

Inu yasha handed Kagome a bowl of ramen, and they ate breakfast together in a peaceful silence. Inu yasha picked up Kagomes pack back and helped her to her feet. He stole a quick kiss before picking her up in his arms and practically flying back to camp.

Inu yasha arrived at the location of their camp to find everything a complete mess.

The sleeping bag Kagome had left was in shreds, there was instant ramen thrown all over the place, the tea set that Kagome had brought back from the future was in pieces on the ground. Kagome wouldn’t have been upset if it weren’t for the fact that there was blood everywhere and a very beat up Shippo lay on the ground.

Kagome immediately rushed to her adopted child’s side to find that he was still breathing but only just. She held him in her arms as she began to cry, she could only fear the worst for the others. Inu yasha investigated things a little closer only to find that a battle had been fought, but what bothered him was that he only smelt the scent of his ally’s blood. There was no scent of another youkai. This made him extremely worried.

"Inu yasha how could this have happened?" Kagome said through her tears.

"I don’t know but I can tell that the others are near by" he said with a hint of sorrow. Kagome dried her tears and set Shippo down and wrapped him in a blanket from her bag. She placed him against a tree a picked up her discarded bow and her arrows.

"Inu yasha tell me, is there a fowl scent in the air?" She asked serious as could be.

She didn’t take anyone who harmed her friends lightly.

"I don’t smell any strange youkai or humans, just blood, lots of it." He said with his nose scrunched up. The smell of his friend’s blood was so strong he could almost taste it.

”Let’s go, you said that they are near by, they might need our help" She said as she climbed onto Inu yasha’s back with her bow and arrows. He didn’t argue with her as he took off in the direction of his companions scent.

The arrived to find Mirokus dead body by the lakeside, he appeared to have been impaled through his heart. Kagome didn’t have the time to morn the death of her friend, because of the fact that barley 100 yards away Chibi and Sango were engaged in a life or death battle ....... with each other?

Kagome fitted her bow with an arrow and raised it, but she was not sure exactly who to point it at. Chibi was the first to notice Kagome.

As she bounded over to her 'mother' she was greeted by a deadly arrow directed at her. Sango soon noticed Kagome as well and ran to her friend’s side as well but was greeted by tetsuiga pointed at her.

"Kagome mama you hurt Chibi?" the little fox said while staring at her surrogate mother.

"Chibi stay right there until we figure this out I wont hurt you if you don’t move" She said feeling bad about having to threaten a child.

"Certainly you don’t believe that I did that?!" Sango said as she pointed to the fallen Miroku as she took a step closer to Kagome, she stopped when Inu yasha raised his sword and prepared to strike.

"Kagome you’re my best friend! You now I would never seriously hurt Miroku! It was her! She ripped out his heart right in front of me! She's not what she appears to be!" Sangos eyes began to fill with tears.

"It’s not true! She's a bad lady, she hurt Shippo and Uncle Miroku! She tried to hurt Chibi to but Chibi ran away. Kagome momma please don’t let her hurt Chibi! Chibi is a good girl!" Chibi sobbed into her kimono....her kimono. Inu yasha looked at Chibi and sniffed her.

He then turned to Sango and growled fiercely.

"Kagome take Chibi and back away" Inu yasha ordered. Kagome was confused but didn’t argue.

" Tell me Sango how is it that Chibi managed to rip out Mirokus heart without getting any of his blood on her, yet somehow you are covered in it as well as Shippos?" he said as he prepared to attack. It was then that Kagome noticed that Sango was carrying a large amount of shards. One of which was implanted in her back.

"Inu yasha she’s got shards! Tons of them! And one is stuck in her back" Inu yasha nodded to acknowledge her but didn’t take his eyes off of Sango. Sangos scent slowly changed as did her appearance, her eyes changed from brown to golden and almost cat like. Her ears sharpened into points as well as her canines and her finger nails that now looked to be claws.

Her hair turned into a light blonde as her attire changed from her battle suit into a pale pink kimono that laced up the side all the way to her neck. She also had a blonde furry fox tail. When she was done she looked almost identical to Chibi except a lot older and sterner. Inu yasha was taken back. It wasn’t the fact that she had changed into someone else it was who she turned into. Standing before him was the Great demon of the northern lands, the kitsune, Sakura, who was supposed to be dead.

The great demon stared at Inu yasha with her icy gaze, it was enough to make a lesser demon crawl away.

"So dog boy figured it out, my aren’t we clever." She said with a smirk. As soon as Chibi saw the Great demon that stood before them she began to struggle in Kagomes arms, trying desperately to escape her grasp.

"Mommy!" She cried out, though it was not directed toward Kagome.

"Chibi! Don’t she’s the one who tried to kill you remember!" Kagome cried as Chibi leapt from her arms. Chibi came to an abrupt halt when Kagomes urgent words reached her ears.

"Your mommy is dead remember!" Kagome had to reach Chibi before the other Kitsune did.

"Hitome, Hitome come to mommy, I’ve missed you Hitome" Sakura said sweetly.

"You know Chibi’s real name" Chibi said in awe.

"She's not your mother Chibi! She hurt Shippo and Miroku!" Kagome reasoned.

"Hitome I had too, Naraku made me! I would never hurt you on purpose!" Sakura said in a motherly tone.

"Naraku? The bad man who threw Chibi into that icky old well?" Chibi said as she started to inch closer to the demon lord.

"He did it to protect you! Chibi don’t you see that he brought me back to life!" Sakura said as she held her arms out to her daughter.

"But mommy don’t you remember! He killed you! He threw me in because you wouldn’t help him with his dumb old jewel! Then I got stuck in the future with Kagome mam........a" Chibi's memories of the past weeks days passed threw her head. Memories of her mothers death before her eyes at the hands of Naraku, of being thrown down the well and being in a strange world all on her own. Then
Kagome came and took her in. Inu yasha Sango, Miroku, Shippo, Keade, Kirara, her friends.............

Chibi Backed away from her real mother and walked toward Kagome with out looking away from her mother.

"Damn it you little fool! Im going to rip your throat out!" Sakura yelled. Inu yasha positioned himself between his mate with her child, and the mighty demon lord.
Kagome picked Chibi up and backed away from the fight that was about to take place.

She may not be her real mother but Sakura definitely looked it, and no child needs to see their mother killed, let alone twice.

"Foolish child you were not meant to come back!" Narakus voice echoed through the lakeside clearing. He appeared before Kagome his twisted smile hidden by the white baboon pelt. He snatched the jewel right off of Kagomes neck before dissapearing and reappearing behind Sakura.

"O well, I suppose it doesn’t matter since I’ve got what I wanted in the end" He said wickedly.

"Now I have all of the jewel shards! The Shikon no tama is mine at last" His demented laughter ringing in Sakura's ears. He was so busy celebrating his victory that he didn’t notice Sakura turning to face him. Her memories flashed before her eyes.

A low growl rose from her chest as she starred at the disgusting creature that had cut her life short. She remembered, she remembered everything. Her life and her death, and her after life, flashed before her eyes. The visions of pain and despair that reflected on her innocent victims faces before she ended their lives. The wolf youkai, the demon slayer, the cat demon, the monk..... And she had even attempted to kill her own daughter, the one person she loved the most. This thing before her, this evil thing had caused her to take innocent lives and for that must be eliminated.

"NARAKU!" she yelled as she lunged at him her claws aimed at his throat. He dodged her attack and disintegrated before her eyes, and reappeared behind her.

"MOMMY BEHIND YOU!" she turned but it was too late. Naraku had taken the jewel shard from her back, and without its power she couldn’t live. The last thing she saw before she permanently blacked out was of Chibi running to her. A smile came across her lips as the wounds inflicted by Naraku, the wounds that had caused her death reappeared on her body. Before Chibi could reach her she was gone. As she wept for her dead mother for the second time, she was so distraught that she didn’t notice, or care, that Naraku was standing over her. With one blow to the head by Narakus hand she fell to the ground.

"It was fun to play puppet master with you, but now your being is no longer needed. Sakura you love sick fool. If you had just abandoned that filthy child of yours you may have lived. But you cared more for her than your own life. How pathetic." Naraku said as he removed his white baboon pelt.

"You sick fuck!" Inu yasha spat as he lunged at Naraku with his sword directed at his chest.

Kagome raised her arrow and took aim at his heart. She could do this, she had to for her friends. But he was to fast. Her arrow missed. She fired arrow after arrow with the same out come.

Narakus speed was unmatchable. Inu yasha just couldn’t land a hit. He realized there was only one thing he could do. He stopped attacking and focused on the dark energy emitted from Naraku. If he could smell the wind scar then he could cut it.

Naraku caught onto Inu yasha tactics. He teleported behind Kagome and held her own bow against her throat. Kagome struggled to get away, but she could barley breath.

The bow was crushing her windpipe. She kicked Naraku with all of her strength but he didn’t even flinch.

"Inu yasha tell me will you make the same mistake as that dead woman, will you care more for this wretched girl than for your own life? Or will you use your father’s fang and kill me now while I hold your love in my arms" He smiled wickedly as he laughed at Inu yasha's position. Kagome looked at Inu yasha.

"Do it Inu yasha! Kill this sick son of a bitch!" She managed to say before the lack of oxygen got to her and she fainted.

"Well half-breed what do you do? Avenge your lost love? Or do you save your bitch? Personally I don’t think either of them is worth it, but it’s not my decision.. Tick tock....."

Naraku said as he dropped the bow and held Kagome in his deadly arms.

"One blast of my miasma and she will join her friends in the after life"
Inu yasha lowered his sword,

"Kagome......." He said barely above a whisper. He couldn’t let her die. He had to protect her! But how?

"M-Mommy" Chibi said low enough that no one cold hear her. "Kagome mommy..." she repeated.

Chibi crawled away from her dead mother’s body, praying that no one would notice her. All she could think was that she had to help Kagome mama. Every breath she took felt like her head was gonna explode. The blow Naraku had given her, had caused her to bleed severely. The wound on her forehead was throbbing. The blood dripping from it got in her eyes so that she could barley see. It was all down her face, some got in her mouth and she could taste her own blood. It left a trail behind her.

"Hold on Kagome mama" she said with determination.
