Taken Out
Chapter Three
Kagome pulled her bike up and climbed off. She had a migraine and was sleepy. Her boss had called asking if she could work a double shift, so she did. Now after twelve hours of waiting on people, she was ready to keel over. From spills, puke and someone spilling saki on her, her night was shot. She placed the keys in her pocket and put her helmet on the back.
Her feet carried her up the steps all the way to her room. She would usually take a shower after work and change. Her work outfit was blue, small shorts and a little top. The top had buttons going all the way up front with her name over her left breast. Her mother told her that the shorts were indecent but the owner was an old pervert. She flopped down on the bed groaning into her pillow. In a matter of minutes she was asleep, she'd forgotten to close her window.
The youkai waited until he sensed the girl sleeping, when her defenses were the lowest. He started chanting, weaving a spell over her. He wouldn't take the chance of her waking on the trip back. A shadow was seen sneaking into the second story window. A few minutes later it leapt out with the sleeping girl over his shoulder.
The four were shown into the small office, Koenma sat behind his desk sucking rapidly on his pacifer. He didn't acknowledge the four as they stood in front of him waiting. His thoughts were running wild, how could this have happened? He should fire all of his staff and start from scratch.
"Speak or I'm going back home." Yusuke yawned loudly to emphasis his point.
"Uh, this is bad." Koenma stood on his desk pacing back in forth. We are going to need help, we can't tackle this alone."
"Koenma might you tell us what the problem is?" Kurama could tell the others were getting impatient.
"She's been taken to the Makia that's the problem. Them damn fools, are they crazy. Don't they realize what this could mean." He kicked the stack of papers off his desk. "Fine I'll get to the point. Two days ago, a miko was taken to the Makai."
"So, she's dead call a coroner." Hiei stated.
"Very funny Hiei. No she isn't dead, there would be no point in killing her. She is more valuable alive. This miko is the Guardian of the Shikon Jewel."
"The jewel is a myth. I can't believe you called us up here for this." Hiei was ready to storm out.
"Don't you dare walk out. I assure you the jewel is not a myth. It has merely been gone for five centuries. It is housed in a miko that lives now. She has been taken to the Makai, I need you to retrieve her and bring her back."
"Let her get her ownself out."
"Hiei," Kuwabara glared at him. "I can't believe you said that, it's a girl."
"Yes and if she truely has the jewel then she won't need our assistance."
"In most cases yes you would be right Hiei. But she isn't awake to help herself. She has been put under some type of spell, rendering her helpless. To make matters worse, I've been formed her captor is holding a tournament in a weeks time. The prize is the girl." Koenma waited for the questions.
"Why? Why not just take the jewel from her, that is her only worth." Kurama didn't understand.
"I'm not sure, I can only tell you what I know. If the girl is the prize I can guarantee every youkai that hungers for more power will show up. Of course such youkai as yourself has no need for the jewel but others will want it. We can't allow this to happen."
"Fine where the hell is she? We will just go snatch her back." Hiei asked.
"I can't answer that I'm afraid. I can only tell you where the tournament is being held. I'm afraid you might have to enter it to claim her." Koenma waited for any protests. "Good. I'll be sending you all there tomorrow."
The three left, Kurama stayed behind to speak to Koenma. "May I speak to you?"
"What is it?"
"I will be heading to the Makai tonight. To speak to Yomi, maybe he can help us locate the girl. It is worth a try." Kurama left when Koenma agreed with him. He entered the Makai shortly after midnight. Changing into his Youko form, he made his way to the city. He was allowed entrance at the main gate and soon he was standing in front of his old partner.
Yomi was informed that Youko had come to speak to him, he dismissed his guards and went to see what the fox wanted. He walked down the long hall to the room where he was waiting. He entered the room and sensed the fox waiting patiently. "What do you need Youko?"
"I've come to speak to about this tournament that's being held."
"Yes, I've heard rumors of it. Some fool is trying to pass off some girl as holding the Shikon Jewel." He took a seat and waited for the fox to get to the point.
"It is true, I assure you. The girl has it, it isn't just a rumor. Koenma wants us to fetch the girl and take her home."
"So Koenma has sent you after her, she must be important. Why have you come to me?"
"I'm asking for your help. You are the ruler here, surely you know where she is being held. Take me to get her." The fox waited for his answer.
"Very well, but only because if what you say is true then it doesn't bode well to have her here." Yomi stood up and Kurama followed him out.
