I Need to Know

~*~Chapter Four~*~
~I Need to Know~

Inuyasha kept his word. He took Kagome to all of her classes, ate lunch with her, and even gave her a ride home in his limo, which all of the girls were extremely jealous about, and Hojo happened to be quite pissed off about it as well, and it wasn't part of the deal either, but still, he took her.

That night, he arrived at exactly seven o' clock.

“Kagome! Inuyasha is here!” Mrs. Higurashi exclaimed. She felt awkward saying it because Inuyasha would usually come in through Kagome's window. Well. That was when he was a half demon from the Feudal Era.

“Thanks mom!” Kagome exclaimed. She ran downstairs in a nice, dark blue evening gown.

Souta looked over at her from the couch. “Wow! You look nice sis,” he said. “Are you going on a date?”

“Sort of. Not really.”

“Where's Hojo taking you this time? It must be really fancy.”

“No, it's not Hojo who's taking me, it's Inuyasha.”

Kagome could've sworn Souta's face turned to stone at that moment.

“B-But I-Inuyasha's d-dead,” Souta said.

Kagome shook her head. “He was, but when I wished on the Sacred Jewel, I didn't realize that it would really grant my wish. However, it did. Only Inuyasha came back as though he's the reincarnation of himself, but he's got the same attitude, same looks, same mouth.” She crossed her arms. “And he's still as rude as usual.”

Mrs. Higurashi chuckled. “Well, maybe that was because you bumped into him earlier like you said you did.”

“Yeah, maybe that's true. But still,” Kagome said. 'I wonder if I can tame his heart once again. I don't exactly remember how I did it before except be myself and use that sit spell that Kaeda lent me.'

“Kagome, are you okay?” Mrs. Higurashi suddenly asked.

“Huh? Oh, yeah, I'm fine. Why?”

“You dozed off there for a moment. Are you sure you're okay? I can tell him you're sick if you want me to.”

“No, it's okay.” She kissed her mom and the cheek and said, “Bye mom! I'll be back some time tonight!”

“Just be back before two!”

“Piece of cake!” Kagome exclaimed, and she walked properly to Inuyasha's limo. Whenever she wore a nice dress and sandals, she never ran and she walks properly. She never figured out why so she just says that it's kind of her thing when she wears something nice or something that she really can't run in.

When she approached the limo, Inuyasha was leaning against the side of the door, waiting for her. For once, he showed up in his half demon form.

His sharp ears heard her coming and he looked up. “About time you came! I've been waiting almost ten minutes now!”

Kagome had to smile. “Sorry,” she said. “My mom wanted to talk to me for a minute, and my brother insisted on complimenting me on my dress.”

Inuyasha couldn't help but to look her up and down. “Well, you do look nice in that dress,” he said, and Kagome seen a slight blush appear on his cheeks. “I'm not good at complimenting people, so sorry if I don't compliment you on things. I'm not a person for compliments. I prefer to insult people.”

It was almost impossible for Kagome not to smile at him. He was too cute the way he acted sometimes, and she had to admit, he really did look nice with his hair cut short like a normal boy's in his human form. She looked at him straight in the eye and said, “I know you're not human, so you don't have to keep that human disguise on.”

“How do you know I'm not human?” Inuyasha asked, slightly surprised. “That still gets me. You mentioned you knew that earlier, but how do you know?”

“We'll discuss that over dinner like you said we would,” Kagome said.

“But I want answers now!” Inuyasha pouted.

“Don't we all?” Kagome asked smartly.

Inuyasha growled.

“Don't even,” Kagome warned. “Remember, I've got that rosary around your neck, so all I have to do if you tick me off or do something inappropriate all I have to do is say S-I-T and you'll go down, so I'll be careful not say it.”

“How do you take it off?” he asked. “Every time I try to touch it it shocks me and blinks at me.”

“You have demon blood running through your body, and as long as you have that blood, you can not touch the rosary while it is on your body,” Kagome explained.

“Why?” Inuyasha asked.

Kagome shrugged. “I dunno. It's just how miko magic works.”

Inuyasha opened the door for her and let her in and then climbed in after her.

“For some reason, demons are not allowed to touch or even try to use miko powers. It usually gets them hurt really bad. I was once told that it could possibly kill them.”

Inuyasha rolled his eyes. “I'm half human too ya know.”

“I know what a half demon is,” Kagome said.

Inuyasha looked at her. “And how do you know THAT!” he demanded.

Kagome ignored his question and said, “And I know you're a half demon.”

“Okay, then what do I look like as a half demon?”

“Long silvery hair, dog-ears, amber eyes, claws,” Kagome said. “Just as you've always looked as a half demon.”

“Just as I've always looked? What do you mean?”

“You'll find out at dinner,” Kagome said.

“Aw, come on Kagome! Have a heart!”

Kagome laughed. “I've never heard you say something like that before.”

Inuyasha shrugged. “I just say what comes to mind.”

“As always,” Kagome said. “You've always been one to speak your mind.”

“How do you know so much about me?” Inuyasha asked.

Kagome sighed. “As soon as we get to wherever the heck we're going, I'll start from the beginning.”

Inuyasha smiled. “Sounds great to me.”

Kagome smiled back. “Good. And you better pay attention because this is too long of a story to keep repeating myself.”

“Got ya."

~Dinner~

Inuyasha and Kagome sat down at the dinner table an Kagome began her story.

“It all began on my fifteenth birthday when my brother went into the well house to find our cat, Buyo. I was pulled down into the well where I somehow came to a whole, completely different time. This is where I met you. Well. Not really. You were pinned to a tree at first. You looked so peaceful while you slept but you weren't no angel. . . ” Kagome wasn't even halfway through her story when dinner came. “The moth demon T-- Oh, thank you.” Kagome was interrupted when a plate was set down in front of her, and she continued in between bites, trying to be polite about it, while she finished her story.

Inuyasha was a little shocked, although he didn't show it. He just looked down at his plate with a serious look on his face and said, “So you were the girl who killed me in my dream. And this really happened?”

Kagome nodded. “Yes. It all happened in Feudal Japan. I was able to get there through the well like I said I did. However, I was possessed by a fake Shikon shard when it happened, so I had no control over my actions. He did this to me when I was asleep, so I had no way to fight the shard. Usually I would be able to if the shard hadn't been inserted inside me while I was sleeping. I had been depressed about it for months and I still am. But seeing you here . . . alive . . . it . . . it just . . .” She lowered her head.

Inuyasha could smell the tears coming. A look of near fright appeared on his face as he asked, “You're not gonna cry are you?!”

The tears streamed down Kagome's face. “All I ever wanted was to see you happy. Never in my wild dreams have I ever thought that it would be me who would bring you to your death. Kikyo or Naraku yes, but never me. Was it wrong? Was it wrong for me to just want you to be happy?”

Inuyasha wanted to cry too because of how she was crying. He had never known anyone who wanted him to be happy, nor anyone who knew him so well. He rubbed at his eyes to keep himself from crying.

“When we first met, you were so cruel and there was a look of hurt and uncertainty in your eyes. However, there was also a look of sadness and loneliness. I had never mentioned anything about it because I was too busy worried about keeping you from killing me at the time.” She chuckled as she wiped the tears from her eyes, but more still came coming. “Over time, I had somehow tamed your wild heart and a look of kindness replaced the loneliness that had been in your eyes for so long. Soon, the uncertainty was removed from your eyes, but sadness and hurt still stayed. I had never been able to calm those looks in your eyes but I still had confidence that maybe one day the look would disappear, but it hasn't . . . until now.” She looked up at him. “The look of sadness and hurt is removed from your eyes because your memory of the time you once lived has disappeared.”

“But . . . How did I come to live in this time if I was born in the Feudal Era?”

“After you died, months later I wished upon the Sacred Jewel that I could see you again, not realizing that you would be brought back in this time.” Kagome suddenly smiled. “But hey, at least I don't have to miss school and go through a well to a different time just to see you.”

'I don't know why, but whenever she smiles, I feel . . . warm inside. What is this feeling? Am I starting to remember her? Is my memory of the past coming back? What is it?'

Kagome's tears still hadn't gone away, and even though he had no clue why, it pained him to see her cry.

“Kagome, can I ask you something?” Inuyasha asked.

Kagome just looked at him. “Sure.”

“Have I ever . . . loved you in that time that I once lived in?”

She turned her head and said, “The others said you did, but I didn't really see it. But then again, there were times that I did but didn't say it. You were always jealous over Kouga when he hit on me, and whenever I went on dates with Hojo.” She smiled. “At least about the ones you found out about.”

A stab of jealousy stabbed through him. “You mean that one pretty boy that every single girl falls over?”

“Yeah, that one.”

“Humph.” He crossed his arms like he usually does and looked away. “I knew there was something about him I didn't like.” His ears twitched wildly. "Man! I hate these things on my head! They never stop that god damned twitching!"

Kagome had to stifle a giggle, though it was kind of hard holding her laughter inside. Her chest bounced as she breathed in, still trying to hold in her laughter. She was having a little silent laugh attack.

"What the hell is so funny?" Inuyasha looked at her, a look of anger and confusion on his face. The look was wiped off when he seen her smiling like that. Now he had more of a peaceful look on his face. It's the look that he always has when he sees Kagome smiling. A small smile painted across his lips. Finally, he realized what he was doing and looked away. "Keh. Don't tell me then."

Kagome just looked at him and said sarcastically, "Okay then, I won't."

"Hey!"

Kagome just shrugged, making her breasts draw upward, and drawing Inuyasha's attention as well. She realized that his attention wasn't on her face, only somewhere below her face. "Hey, my head's not down there."

Inuyasha blushed, realizing that he was caught and he turned his head away. "Keh. Whoever said I was looking? I thought you had something on your dress, that's all," he lied.

Kagome rolled her eyes. 'Such a liar as always. Never admits anything,' she thought.

A/N: Okay, there's the . . . fourth chapter, yeah, fourth. Sorry, I'm just really tired. Anyways, I had to change somethings to this story before I posted it, but anyways, I hope you guys like this chapter too. This one's probably lame too. I haven't exactly got to all the action yet. I'll get to it soon.
