Moving On

Kagome woke up the next morning and stretched. She got up and walked downstairs to check on Sesshomaru. When she got downstairs he was already awake and had the TV on. This time he was watching 'Tom and Jerry'. He was still running his fingers over the screen. Kagome walked over to him and cleared her throat.

" No need to do that. I felt you as soon as you woke up." he said.

" Oh. Well how about some breakfast?" she asked.

" No thank you. Can you explain this to me?" he asked.

" Sure." and went to sit on the couch. He got up and sat down beside her still looking at the cartoons. Kagome didn't know where to start. She took a deep breath and said, " That is a television or TV. We watch shows on them. The people you see are actors. It is just for entertainment."

" How do you put those people in the box?"

" They are not in it really. You see it runs off of cable and electricity."

Sesshomaru didn't understand. He decided to change the subject.

" Will we look today on how to send me home?"

" Well it is Saturday. Sure. We can go to the library and see what they have on the Shikon no Tama. History must have changed so it should be in the books. I am going to go upstairs and change and then we can go."

She left him sitting there thinking. Last night he hadn't slept at all. He had spent hours watching her sleep. He now knew why his brother wanted to protect her. He knew now that he bgan to love the miko. But it hadn't just happened. It was before they fell through the well. After the last fight that he and Inuyasha had he felt it. She had stood up to him. That made him believe that she was worth looking into. He never planned to fall for her. He swore he would not be his father or Inuyasha. He had followed her and her friends everyday to watch the miko. He even watched when she would go to a stream to bathe. Over time he wanted to touch her. His plan was ruined when he heard that Naraku was heading for them. So he put his differences aside and planned to protect the miko. That was why he was there that day.He looked at the stairs and saw her coming. His jaw dropped at what she was wearing. Kagome decided to wear a pair of shorts and a tank top. Her long legs looked slender under the black shorts. She chose the red tank top bacause she thought it brought out her face. She had pulled her hair up in a pony tail. She looked to see Sesshomaru staring.

" What?" she said and looked at herself.

" Nothing. Am I to wear this?" he said pointing to the jogging pants. Kagome knew it would be too hot for those. She told him to follow her upstairs. She still had her father's old clothes in her room and looked through them. She decided on a pair of tan kahkis and a blue t-shirt. The t-shirt was well fitted and showed off his muscles. Once he was dressed they left the shrine. They walked to the local library and grabbed some books. Kagome sat him down next to her and started her research. It had been two hours of reading while Sesshomary just looked at the pictures.

" I got it." she said.

" What did you find?"

Kagome read over the page skipping some sections. " The Sikon no Tama was burned with the preistess Kikyo. Her ashes lay in a temple under great protection. It is said that the preistess fell in love with a hanyou and it caused her death. No one knows what happened to the hanyou. Many believe that he died sitting in front of her tomb. " Kagome felt a tear run down her face. 'Inuyasha was dead.' She wiped the tear away and looked at Sesshomaru.

" Why do you cry for him?"

" Because in a way I loved him."

" What else does it say?" he moved closer to her and looked down at the book. She felt his hair fall onto her arm. He was so close that she felt his breath on her face. She stood up ending the closeness between them.

" Um.. I am going to check this out. Wait here." she said as she walked to the counter.

After leaving the library they decided to get something to eat. It was hard for Kagome to get Sesshomaru to eat the food. He took a sip of soda and the bubbles caused him to choke. She patted him on the back and laughed. They left the restuarant and headed for the park. They sat down on the grass and talked for a while. Kagome was really enjoying herself. It was really nice to talk to Sesshomaru. They were laughing when rain started to fall. Kagome put the book in her backpack and put it on her back. She got up so they could go home when he caught her arm. She looked into his eyes and smiled. He pulled her back down to him. She lost her balance and fell right on top of him. They fell backwards laying on the wet ground. He rolled over on top of her and placed his mouth to hers. Kagome closed her eyes and opened her mouth to allow his tongue to play with hers. She felt the rain hitting her face but it was nowhere near cold. She felt warmth all over. He broke the kiss and looked into her face.

" I think we had better go." he said and smiled.

He pulled her up to him and wrapped his arm around her waist. They walked back to the shrine in the rain holding each other. Kagome finally felt good. It had been a long time since she felt this way. They made it back to the shrine and walked into the kitchen. Kagome ran upstairs and grabbed two towels. She handed him one and started to dry off. ' Why do I feel like this? I can't possibly love Sesshomaru. I know he doesn't love me. He just wants a woman in his bed.' Kagome turned and ran upstairs. That night at dinner they didn't talk. Kagome bid him goodnight and went straight to bed.


Meanwhile on the other side of the well and still 500 years in the past Inuyasha stood where the well once was. It had been two days since Kagome had been gone. The day of the battle he took Kikyo's body to her sister. They had burned it as they did before. The jewel went with her again. He sat at the well thinking about Kagome. He wondered what was going on in her time. ' Kagome I miss you so much.' He heard Sango and Miroku walking up to him.

" Inuyasha, why don't you come back to the villiage? You can't stay here forever." Sango said.

" She is right Inuyasha. Kagome is back in her own time now. You have to move on."

" How can I move on knowing that Sesshomaru is there with her?" he asked.

" Look, if he wanted to kill her then he wouldn't have protected her that day." Miroku said.

They left him sitting at the well and went back to the villiage. Inuyasha just sighed and thought about his brother. They never liked each other but he didn't deserve to be stuck in the future. At once his thought went to that little toad and the little girl that always traveled with his brother. They did not know what had happened. With that Inuyasha leapt up and headed West.
