Chapter Three
"Don't go too far boys." Kagome slid the door to the bus shut, grabbing the chair. Tar and Styles ran ahead with the kids while she and Mai trailed behind. Most people stopped to stare at the herd coming through. A few parents called their children over to them at seeing the big dog running along. Some kids started pointing, Styles was carrying Aiko on his back. The small girl laughed as she quickly caught up and passed the other kids. Kagome wondered if she should point out the fact that the small girl holding onto the leash as she rode the dog wasn't exactly holding up the leash law. It was a good thing the big moose was obediant and was completely faithful to Taree.
"If he takes a shit, I'm not picking it up." Mai watched as the dog bounded off with the small girl on his back sniffing.
"Same here. I don't think they make pooper scoopers that big." Kagome spotted a good area to make the picnic. A small group of people were sitting not too far away. Five younger people, but compared to their ten it was a small group. "How about over there?"
"Sure," They headed over and put the three lawnchairs down. They both carried a basket, one contained lunch and the other had blankets, napkins and a few toys for the kids.
All three girls had on jeans, tshirts and sneakers. All three had decided to wear their hair up in ponytails, no need to give the boys something to pull on. Tar had decided to put small braids all in hers, having to be different. Kagome sat down in the lawnchair stretching her legs out. "I say we lay back relax and let Tar handle them."
"Sounds like a plan, I'm sure she'll yell if she has trouble."
Yusuke was ready to punch Kuwabara in the head for the second time today. He should have known better than to come with him. His best friend was trying to cheer him up of course but was sucking at it. Shizuru was the only female with them today. If it weren't for the free food he'd have stayed home with his mother. Hiei and Kurama was with them also, probably coming to be nosey. He was sure everyone knew that him and Keiko had gotten into a huge fight. Ending with her dumping him once again.
Shizuru sat back smoking while Kurama tried to calm him down. "He didn't mean anything by it Yusuke."
"Riiiiighhht."
"What the hell is that thing?" Hiei was looking behind Shizuru's head.
They all turned to see a huge canine running with a bunch of kids trailing behind him. Kurama studied the animal, "I believe that is a mastiff Hiei. It's a type of large dog."
The dog in question stopped in front of a girl with long pink hair and began to bark wildly. She began to laugh hysterically and ran over to the children. "Styles go get the ball." The beast trotted over to two girls not far from them. He put his snout down in a basket and came back with a small ball in his mouth. He ran back over to give it to the girl.
"Seems to be well trained." Kurama's attention went back to the two girls sitting near them on lawn chairs. They were facing away so he couldn't see them. Even from this view point he could tell they weren't average humans.
"As long as it doesn't come over here." Hiei eyed the group. "I seriously hope those aren't the mothers. None of them can be a day over twenty."
"Maybe they just started young." Yusuke chirped. His eyes bulged when he saw one of them lift her hand in the air, extending her middle finger.
Mai heard the comment and answered in kind. "Wanna go play?"
"I can't believe you just did that. Sure before you start a riot." Kagome took off her shades and placed them on her seat. She got curious and glanced behind them. There was four men and one female looking over at them. Her eyes landed on the red head first, she had to admit he had pretty eyes. But he was a little too pretty for her taste. Never date a man better looking than you. Turning her gaze to the right she caught ruby red eyes. A youkai! She felt herself being drawn into that gaze. His stare was intense, she felt like he was looking right into her soul.
"Come on, before they start attacking people."
"Okay," She turned around breaking eye contact. Tar yelled at them as they joined the group.
"Woot time for some dodge ball. Styles take your ball back and bring us the big one. Don't pop it either." The dog bound over and placed his ball next to the basket and pulled out the one she wanted. He returned giving it to her. "Good boy, now go guard the chairs." He returned, climbing into Kagome's empty chair.
"Hey, you're getting out when I return." Kagome yelled. "Don't smash my shades either." He barked, then sat still to watch them.
Kagome and Mai stood on the outside while Tar and the kids went in the center. Kagome threw the ball aiming for Tar's legs, she moved out the way. Then it was Mai's turn, she grabbed the ball and aimed for the pink haired girl. The ball slammed into her gut.
"That hurt." She took her friend's spot. She hit one of the boy's instead of Mai.
He gladly took the spot, a big smirk on his face. Kagome saw him glancing over at the small group not far away eating. "Don't you dare." Too late.
The boy tossed the ball with all his strength, it crossed the distance slamming into the back of a large orange head. All three girls sighed as the young man yelled from the impact. He turned around and glared, "Hey watch where you're throwing that thing."
"Sorry, accident???" Kagome stated.
The little boy ran over to Tar who proceeded to give him a high five, "Nice shot."
"Tar!" Mai scolded her.
"Sorry. Was a nice shot though. Got him good."
"I say we eat and play ball later when its safer." Kagome suggested. All the kids starting complaining.
"It's not our fault his big head got in the way." The oldest boy whined.
"Yeah, big head." Aiko chanted. "Move big head."
After several minutes they had all the children on a blanket eating. Kagome was back in her chair along with Mai. Tar was on the blanket with Styles leaning against him while she fed him by hand. "You better hope you never get a boyfriend Tar." Kagome said.
"Why?"
"Because your dog would get jealous." Mai watched him gently take the food. "He'd probably bite his balls."
"Not true, he's very gentle. Besides he's not jealous of you two."
"We won't be banging you either." Mai heard laughing coming from behind them.
Kagome felt her face go red, knowing that the group behind them had heard her. "Mai please they can hear."
"Well, if what I say bothers them then they don't have to listen. They're guys so I'm sure what I say won't embarass them." She took a bite out her sandwich. She moved a stray hair out her face. "And its the truth, I feel sorry for any man that tries to touch her. The damn dog is attached at her hip."
"Mai said damn." Aiko giggled.
"If you kids are done eating go play." Kagome ran them off. "Go wear yourselves out please." Hopefully they all would go to bed early tonight.
"No, don't worry; I'm not getting a boyfriend." Tar stroked the dog behind the ear. He made some strange noise, inbetween a growl and a bark. "Yes, I know. Mai definitely needs a man. She's much too bitchy."
"Tell your damn dog not to discuss my love life or lack of." She threw the rest of her sandwich at the dog.
"Go ahead, she threw it at you." The dog quickly finished off the food. "Don't throw things at him. He said the red head behind you keeps staring, go talk to him."
"That's it, I'm going to kill him." The dog got up and ran while Mai gave chase.
Kagome broke out in laughter watching the blonde run after the animal. He was clearly playing with her, barking the whole time. The kids soon began to help her. "Think we should help him?"
"Nah, he's fine. Guess I'll take her seat." She sat down next to her.
"What else did he say or should I ask?" Kagome looked over to see the girl smiling.
"That all the males over there had staring problems and one of them was aroused."
Kagome started choking on her water, several gasps were heard. "Holy shit, sorry I asked."
The dog skidded to a stop in front of them and whined. Tar leaned forward, "No." He barked at her. "I don't care, now go play."
Kuwabara leaned forward and whispered, "Is she really talking to the dog?"
"Is that even possible?" Shizuru asked.
"There are rare cases of humans having extrodinary abilities. I can tell you none of them are ordinary humans. The two there have purification ablities from what I can tell. The one on the left is definitely a miko. As for the other girl, I'm not sure." Kurama watched the blonde grab a small girl swinging her in a circle.
Hiei looked at the so called miko laying there gossiping with her friend. He felt his body stir at the sound of her laughter. He was tempted to go take the beast's head.
One of the little boy's ran up to them and stared at Kurama. "My friend thinks you're pretty." He giggled and ran back.
Kurama felt his face turn red at the comment. Yusuke broke out in laughter, "HAHAHA, Kurama's a cute girl."
"Shut up Yusuke."
The little boy ran back over, "She also said that he was ugly." He pointed towards Kuwabara.
"MARO, what are you saying over there?" Kagome stood up walking over and grabbing the boy by the shirt. "Leave them alone."
"I was just telling them what Mai told Aiko." He whined.
"If she wanted them to know she's more than capable of telling them. Get over here and sit young man." She tried forcing a smile, "Sorry about this." She winced when she felt her shin being pelted by little feet. "Ouch."
"Get your grimy hands off me," The boy pushed her, grinning when she stumbled. "I'm going to tell Mr. Sinato that you were flirting instead of watching us." He put his hands on his hips. "You're fired!" He ran off laughing.
A fit of giggles was heard coming from the seat ahead of them. Kagome stomped her foot and glared at her friend. "It's not funny."
"At least he didn't show em your panties." A fit of giggles again. A snort, "You're so fired Kagome."
"MAI, do something with her." Kagome watched the blonde run over looking confused. "Do something with that."
"I left the tranquilizers in the bus. Want me to go get them?" She smiled.
"Kagome is fired." More giggles.
Mai ignored the stares they were getting. "I'll round them up, you pack up." Kagome nodded and went to packing up their belongings. She was beyond embarassed, she wasn't sure what was worse Maro or Taree. The girl finally calmed down enough to help her pack.
"Come on, Styles." The dog bound up beside her.
Kagome was glad once they had all the kids in the bus and ready to go. She looked over to see the group walking towards them. Her eyes looked over at the youkai with red eyes. She had to admit he was kind of short but very nice looking. The way he held himself spoke of power and cockiness. Hopping in the bus she closed the door behind her.
