Koga's Attacked!
Koga moved swiftly thinking about how sweet Kagome smelled. Then winced in pain from the beating InuYasha gave him.
‘Damn that puppy, he’s strong, why do I continue to underestimate him?’
‘Because you’re an arrogant wolf lord that’s why.’
He answered himself and smiled then thought about Kagome again.
‘How can he keep his head around her scent. He hasn’t put his scent on her. I would have done so the minute she was in my keep. It must be the human side of him. Her heat is so sweet I smelled her from miles away. How can he keep from ravaging her. It has to be the human side to him, her style of courting is different from ours. Is that what makes him stronger? That lucky bastard, she loves him. If she could love him, then she can learn to love me too. She must have some feelings for me right? I’ll treat her good, like a queen in fact.’
He headed toward his home for a nights rest; he was going to need it if he was going to battle InuYasha again for Kagome’s hand. He respected InuYasha and liked him well enough, but he didn’t like the fact that he had Kagome. He ran home faster with visions of Kagome in sexual positions ready for him before he stopped in his tracks. ‘Naraku.’ He smiled. He was ready to avenge his comrades. Naraku and Kagura his incarnate destroyed his comrades and tricked him to fight against InuYasha to obtain his jewel shards. They managed to steal the one from his arm. But, they tried to kill him which is even worse. On another occasion Kagura succeeded in removing the shards from his legs. If it hadn’t been for InuYasha in his human form, he would have died that night. He killed other demons to regain the shards but, he would never forgive them for their treachery against him. However, if he defeats Naraku in Kagome’s name than maybe she might come to him willingly.
“Come out Naraku you cowardly bastard. Fight me and stop sending your underlings to do your damn job!”
Naraku came forth and before Koga could do anything about it, Naraku sliced a hole in the middle of Koga’s stomach. Pain racked his body. It was also poisoned with some kind of acid that started to burn away at him slowly. However, Koga kept taunting him.
“Is that all you’ve got?!” Koga then sunk his fangs into Naraku. That action only let out more poisonous gases that chocked Koga. Koga fell to the ground as Naraku stood over him.
“Stupid wolf, you don’t have what it takes to defeat me, you don’t have the desire that I do. I guess that is why I’m stronger than you.”
Koga kicked up and hit Naraku in the face with the flat of his foot.
“Wolf’s blood!”
Koga threw his attack and hurt Naraku some but it wasn’t enough. Naraku seemed to stand there undaunted. Koga became infuriated. ‘How dare he mock me.’
Koga growled and turned into a spinning tornado.
“Hounds from Hell!”
Again he let out a massive force of energy and it seemed to bounce of Naraku. It hurt him as much as a mosquito hurt a deer. Than with a blast of energy, Naraku let out a fearsome blow. Koga fell to the ground paralyzed. So weak he couldn’t move a muscle.
“As I said mongrel, you can’t defeat me, you don’t have the desire.”
“What does desire have to do with any of this? You manipulated everything you can get your hands on for what, the jewel?” He growled low.
“Koga, desire is a human emotion a strong human emotion, for a desire, a man might act out of his own character to obtain the object he desires. It’s something that you full fledged demons do not possess. I desire to have the Shikon jewel all to myself and rule this world with malice and grief. I desire to make this Earth a living hell.”
“Damn your desire, I’m not going to let that happen!”
With that Koga shot up still weak from his last attack. He clawed Naraku in the neck and was happy when he saw the thick black blood on his hands. He smiled momentarily when he all of a sudden he felt something rip through his chest. His heart was ripped out, his lungs tightened up from constricting the poisonous gas that he had breathed in. Koga fell motionless to the ground breathing weakly. Naraku laughed as he pulled the shards from Koga’s limp body.
“Tetsusaiga!”
InuYasha was in mid air with his attack when Naraku summoned Kana to reflect the attack. InuYasha had to duck from the counter attack. Naraku then had Kagura to stir up wind so that they can make their escape.
“Damn he got away again.” InuYasha said as he turned around and saw Koga lying motionless on the ground. He could see Koga’s aura diminishing. He also saw Kagome’s tears for the wolf. He let her shed them for he knew Kagome was soft at heart and the wolf was dying.
“Inu-Yasha…” Koga hoarsely spoke.
“Shhh don’t speak Koga, you’ll be alright if you rest.”
Kagome said as she cradled his head in her lap. Even Sango had to shed some tears. Koga wasn’t a bad demon. He was almost cute in a certain primal way. He was rough and tough; very masculine. However, his loyalty to Kagome touched her. InuYasha walked over to Koga. He showed the wolf lord respect by not reacting indifferently to the situation. It was important for Koga to die strong.
“Koga?”
“InuYasha, Naraku said he was strong because he desires…that is what makes you strong… is desire. You have it for Kagome.”
“You’re not so bad for a wolf demon. Thanks for the tip.”
Koga smiled weakly at InuYasha. “You’re not a bad demon either for a half-breed mongrel.”
Koga paused for a second as he tried to get some more air, then he continued.
“InuYasha, avenge my comrades for me and please avenge my death for those of them still living. My pack…”
He couldn’t say anymore his pain was overwhelming him. Then he began to slide off his ring that signified his leadership. He handed to Kagome.
“Kagome, give this ring to InuYasha. He should take over as leader of my pack, for you will be his queen. It’s just as good as having you to myself. He’s strong and protected you well when you were in his keep. He is worthy to be called comrade. He will take care of my family.”
Everyone started with surprise including InuYasha. InuYasha’s emotions were now mixed. How could Koga do this? They were opponents, enemies.
“I’ll avenge you and your clan Koga I promise.”
InuYasha turned and walked past the group some he noticed that Koga’s aura was diminishing fast, he would be dead soon. Koga looked at Kagome and raised his hand to her cheek.
“You’re actually crying for me? Sweet Kagome, the moment I saw your bravery I vowed that you were mine. I believed that I could make you happy Kagome, but, you would have never looked at me as you do him. Love is in your eyes when you look at him, I envied that look, I wanted for you eyes to look at me that way. I wanted to make you forget him that is why I wanted to kill him. But I see now that was my folly…
Then he winced in pain as he looked seriously at Kagome and continued;
“please Kagome can you do one thing for me?”
Tears rolling down her face she shook her head yes and asked him, “Koga, anything, what is it?”
He smiled weakly, “I ask for just one kiss, I want to experience your sweet love for just a moment before I go. Please look at me one time like you would look at InuYasha.”
Kagome choked back a sob. She looked to InuYasha to see if it was ok to allow a dying man’s final wish. InuYasha reluctantly nodded that she may do as Koga wished but turned around so that he wouldn’t have to witness it. Miroku, Sango and Shippo were shocked as Kagome lightly pressed her lips against Koga’s. Koga took the last of his energy to deeply take her kiss. It was blissful.
“As I thought, your love is warm and tender, Pure as an angel. Kagome, I love you.”
He closed his eyes and was no more as Kagome cried on him for a while. Miroku chanted prayers for Koga. When Kagome looked up tears streaked her face she noticed that Koga had a peaceful look on his face and for the first time she realized that she cared for him more than she thought she did.
“Koga I loved you too.”
Sango heard her and looked toward InuYasha who was helping Miroku dig a grave on Kagome’s behalf.
‘Damn that puppy, he’s strong, why do I continue to underestimate him?’
