Coyote Tricks: Fox Child

Almost forgot to get this chapter off. I’ve recently reconnected with my old role playing buddies from college days and we are actually starting up gaming again on-line using voice conferencing. Isn’t modern technology grand? It also means unfortunately that my Muses have discovered a whole new realm to play in and have been busy working up story ideas based on the role playing genre and my characters there. Not to worry though I don’t intend to abandon this series.

Oops

As Kit’s feet touched ground on the other side of the portal, he could immediately sense a difference in the air about him, it was much fresher feeling and there none of the smells associated with the modern industrial age Kit grew up in. The opening in the well above him showed open sky and not a roof. Plenty of creeping vines grew on the sides of the well here so climbing out was easy. Which was a good thing since Kit could already feel his energy being drained by the nexus. A flaw in the seal of the Demon Realm portal drained demon energy from objects in the well causing the bodies and bones of demons placed in the well to rapidly decompose. This trait was what caused it to be known as the Bone Eaters Well. It would not be healthy for even a half demon like Kit to stay long inside the well.

The sun had reached its noon peak when Kit left the woods and approached the village. At first sight of him crossing the rice fields much of the activity in the village stopped as the villagers looked on at him in curiosity. As he drew closer though an edge of fear began to arise on the scent of those nearest him. The men picked up tools and weapons, the women pulled children closer to them. Kit continued to walk as non-threateningly as possible across the field.
He quickly checked the illusion the charm around his neck created to ensure it was working properly. It was, so the villagers should be seeing what most humans saw when they looked at him, a sandy haired Ameri….
‘Shit’ Kit thought ‘I probably should have changed that image but too late now.’

By time he reached the end of the rice fields the village men had gathered to meet him; they all held bows or farm tools ready at hand but not immediately threatening.
“Greetings stranger” the leader said “who are you and what business have you in our village?”
“Uh…Hi!” Kit said with what he thought was his best friendly grin. Somehow it didn’t seem to lighten the mood any. His grin and ears drooped, though fortunately the villagers could only see the grin part.
“I’m looking for Ms. Kaede, would she be around here?”

The man started to speak but was interrupted.
“I am the one you seek.” An elderly woman carrying a long bow taller than herself came forward as the villagers parted for her. Kit could sense the spirit energy radiating from her and suspected she was sensitive enough to see through his illusion charm. Her next words confirmed that suspicion.
“What is it you want with me demon?”
“I have an important item to deliver to Kagome” Kit said “I was hoping you could help me find her.”

Kaede moved closer and looked a Kit a moment. Kit smiled at her hoping he looked harmless enough.
“Alright” she said at last “follow me.”
She led him to a hut in the middle of the village. Once inside he sat on the opposite side of the small fire from her. She offered to share her noon meal and he politely accepted. They ate quietly, Kit nervously aware that he was being subtly observed as he ate. He gave his bowl and thanks to Kaede when they had finished. As she sat again, she looked at him again.

“Are you a wolf demon?” she asked after a moment. “It is hard to tell through your magic.”
“Oh sorry” Kit said and dropped the illusion over his appearance.
“You are a hanyou but like no wolf I have ever seen.”
“I am not from Japan” Kit explained “I am a coyote hanyou.”
“Your clothing is strange. Did you come through the well from Kagome’s home?”
“Yes.”
Kaede pointed to Kit’s t-shirt.
“I do not recognize the symbols.”
“They are English the language of my homeland” Kit said and read the shirt to her.
“It’s a joke” he explained “about the taste of beer.”
Kit felt better when Kaede smiled.
“Yes some beers I have had made me feel the same” she said.

“So what is it you have for Kagome?” Kaede asked suddenly.
Kit considered a moment and pulling out the leather bag, he took out the jewel shard and dropped it into her palm.
“Where did you obtain this?”
“It was taken from a demon in my time; the demon did evil things with it so the shard is tainted now with evil” Kit said. “I was told that the shards belong to Kagome and she could purify them”
“Alright I believe you” Kaede said and Kit sensed her become more relaxed with the decision.
“Hmm?”
“If you had evil intent you would have used the jewel shard yourself.”
“I might be just using the shard to get to Kagome” Kit postulated.
“You could be, but an evil demon would not have readily given me the shard” Kaede said as she handed him back the shard.

“Kagome and the others set out to the Northwest. There is a town about a week’s travel from here at the base of a mountain range, we heard word of the area being terrorized by demons and suspected there may be a jewel shard involved.”
“Thank you” Kit said bowing “and thank you for sharing your meal with me.”
“You are leaving? You are welcome to stay and get a fresh start in the morning.”
“No, thank you, Lady Kaede” Kit said “I would like to get a head start while the sunlight lasts so I can catch up with them as soon as possible.”

After Mr. Watsuki left, Shippo and Toshiro had dinner but the elder Kitsune hardly touched his meal. Afterwards, Shippo went into the common room, turned on the TV and picked up a magazine off the table. The TV was playing a game show called Takahashi’s Castle whose objective was humiliating the contestants. It was obvious to Toshiro that Shippo wasn’t watching either one.
‘It’s almost like when Mitsu died all over again’ Toshiro thought.
“Father, is something wrong?”
“Huh?” Shippo seemed to snap out of a daze. “Why do you ask?”
“You are holding that magazine upside down.”
“Oh” Shippo said turning the magazine over without looking at it. “I’m just worried about Kit, that’s all.”
“I understand, I miss him too” Toshiro said know his father was holding something back but decorum prevented him from asking. “I’m sure he will be ok.”
“Yes” Shippo said lowering his head into the magazine once more.

‘That’s just it, Toshiro’ Shippo thought silently ‘I know he won’t be ok and I didn’t warn him. Oh Kit, will I ever see your face again?’
With a sigh he focused on the page in front of him, as if in answer to his question there was Kit’s face! And Kit’s bare chest, indeed every part of Kit except his manhood which wasn’t visible because it was buried in the ass of an equally naked Toshiro! Above the two figures a word balloon held the text: “Kit, oh Kit!”
“Toshiro” Shippo said, pulling the doujinshi out of the magazine “what is this?”
“Eep”

Foxfur: Takahashi’s Castle sounds familiar.
Stardreamer: Yes it’s that show with really bad dubbing they renamed Most Extreme Eliminations on Spike TV.
Foxfur: I knew that doujinshi would come back to haunt them.
