She needed to know as an employee and as a friend.

CHAPTER 4: GRIEVANCE
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Inuyasha sat at his desk in his huge black leather chair facing the window. The sun was setting casting the sky on fire. His mood darkened with the fight with his beloved and his muscle tensed because of a new found threat that loomed over his head. Inuyasha heard the door open quietly. Then the scent of lilacs encompassed the room in which he was sulking in. It startled him at how he could relax to this scent so easily. “Kagome? What are you doing here it’s six o’clock.”
“Mr. Masurau, Sango requested that I give these financial reports to you.”
Inuyasha turned in his chair to look at the women he used to be with and still loved. He shook his head and motioned her to come in. “Kags don’t call me that. I don’t like it. Besides it’s after hours, anyways.”
She slowly approached the desk at which he sat but didn’t shut the door to the office. Kagome didn’t agree with him however. She was trying to distance herself from him so that it would be professional work relationship and nothing more. Kagome drew closer to the desk stopped to extend the papers in her hand.
Inuyasha looked up at her amused slightly at her silence. He could tell she was dying to argue with him because it was written all over her face. “Why didn’t Sango give them to me?” He asked as he took the papers.
“She asked me to give them to you because she had a dinner date with Miroku.” She stated matter of factly. Kagome looked into Inuyasha's amber eyes as saw how tired they looked. Concern flooded through her. “Oh, Inu, what is wrong?”
He was taken aback. This was the first time in a long time Kags asked him any personal questions. Normally she was distant and forelorn around him. “What’s it to you?” He countered a little annoyed.
Kagome felt his anger but gentle pressed again. “Come on Inu. Something is wrong, and I want to know." She mumbled the last part. "As a friend.”
“Feh! You haven’t been acting like a friend Kags, and you know it.”
Kagome lowered her head for a moment. Her blood pressure was raising at an incredible speed. He said it was after hour, so let him have it she thought. “Listen hear Inu, you jerk! I am trying to maintain a professional working relationship here without it getting any more awkward that it is! Besides your fiancee just about ripped my head off and I can't do a damn thing about it.” She huffed in out rage. "Well, not until after hours, anyways."
Inuyasha looked at her with shock written over his face. “Well it’s about damn time you said something.” He grated out through his teeth.
“About what? It being awkward or how you are doing?”
“Both.” He answered viciously.
Frustrated tears started to come to the surface of her now silver eyes. He caught the scent. “Ah, Kags. I am sorry. It’s just…” He turned away from her to look out the window. “It’s just that I miss you. The way we talked.” Inuyasha sounded torn.
“I know. I miss it too, but that is the price you pay for things.” She whispered. A feeling of de javu was coming over her again. “Please tell me what is going on. It can’t be good. You’ve had lawyers in the office all day for the past two weeks. I haven’t’ seen you go out in a long time, which is so unlike you.” She trailed off.
Inuyasha began to get lost in her voice as she rambled on. He didn’t realize she had stopped talking for a few minutes until he heard her move behind him. Inuyasha still didn’t turn around and look at her. She was coming to him. A warm tiny hand reached out and touched his shoulder. Kags was reaching out to him. Don’t pull away. Tell her. She needed to know as an employee and as a friend.
Kagome watched a play of emotions go across his face when he turned to look at her finally.
“Sit down Kags this is going to take a while.”
