Chapter 4: Sorry's end
~This takes place after dinner~
Stars sprinkled across the inky black and blue abyss of the nights sky, their sparkling astral beauty, so like a diamond that had been shattered by the mighty hands of the gods themselves. The sight making every being stop and take a second glance, reminding them, that they were only a speck in a mass of a great infinity; this being evidence of that.
The silent breeze whisped through every leaf and blade of grass, making a sound of natural calmness; Peace. The cresent moon's silver glow tinted the surrounding forest of green, making dark hues of cream colored elegance to appear on the hoari of the lord of the west.
Silky strands of silver, their color shining with each and every movement like the very sea itself, floated in a lazy wave over his back and forehead, the light cream skin color of his neck and face blending, matching with its elegant flow of moonwhite. Even the very markings of his demon heritage lightly curved to his regal appearance, seemingly invisible to any other eye.
Yes...this was a beautiful sight indeed. But the only being not gazing up at the starlit sky, was her...
Letting her eyes glide over every curve of his flawless demonic hair and face, that cool and relaxing mix of color stopped when reaching the very centerfold to his spirit, emotions and heart. A melting pot of amber and gold irises were lifted aimlessly into the night sky, their focus far from what they were actually watching.
Somehow, this marvelous...creature, was able to seem as if he were a god himself...The elegant way of always seeming confident, his stoic expression never faultering, the very way of even talking, making him seem like an otherworldly person. But she could see throught that, only she could observe the various changes in emotions in which he hid from the world so well. These amber eyes, the very gateway to her understanding.
Even when the young woman had first met him, she swore that somehow, she was the only one to really know him. She was the only one who knew, not the lord of the west, but Sesshomaru.
Rin clutched the white bath kimono she held around her body, the nights light windy caresses making a slight shiver run up her spine...and this...person before her wasn't helping in making it go away.
He sat on a large branch above the gounds wavy grass, its placement away and secluded from the other trees. One leg was propped against its length, while the other dangled casually over the side. He looked almost...relaxed. But she knew better...
The chestnut haired teenager gave a thoughtful frown when seeing her lord...he was anything but relaxed. Rin stepped forward, the soft pat of her bare feet making a rustle against the lush grass, breaking him from his thoughts.
Sesshomaru shifted his golden eyes in the directon of the sound, his teeth clenching when catching the scent of his ward. 'Ward...rediculous.'
The young woman knew he was tense, his clenching jaw making her almost flinch. She had learned that his expression's and eyes were his way of speaking...and it seemed that she'd made him upset somehow, someway...
His sensitive ears zoned in on every small sound she made when approaching, down to the small breaths that escaped the very depths of her chest. Swallowing hard when she was close enough to almost touch, he was reminded of her enticing sent, the alluring musk in which she shown without even knowing, that she was ready to take and accept a mate.
Wanting to frown at the idea, as well as the argument that had rooted from it, he decided that thinking these things over later was the way to deal. 'Later...'
After a moment of silence when Rin had stopped to the side of him, Sesshomaru pushed down his pride and delicately turned his head to her. It seemed that she'd been studying him for some time now, for the way her hazel eyes moved over his features held an almost far away look. But as he watched her not retreat in her gaze, due to embarrassment at being caught staring like he thought, the taiyoukai was glued in place when she looked him in the eyes.
The young woman's intensity in her stare made him want to look away. Something...it had always been something with her. She could always read him, understand him. Oh how he hated it...yet loved it all at once. She, of everyone in the world, could show compassion in what he was feeling...even if he didn't SAY it.
"...Rin."
His breath came out in an almost whisper that sounded forced, the very sound making a gruff, low almost...husky voice. They had yet to pry thier eyes from one another, her emotions mixing with an almost tearly look as she answered,
"Sesshomaru..."
The taiyoukai was the one to brake their connection, his golden gaze shifting to the stars again. He couldn't take it...couldn't take HER.
After more silence and a gust of air swept between them, he spoke, trying to stop from being so...There wasn't even a word to describe the way she made him act...
"Your bathing is done."
More of a statement then a question, he let his eyes glide back to her form. Unlike many of the ningens he'd seen, Rin somehow held an exotic look compared to them.
The chestnut hair, that was unusually light unlike most all other humans that held a pitch black color, lay in wet tendrils around her shoulders and forehead, causing him to take a breath, smelling the lightly scented soap she used on her hair.
Her skin was also differant from others, the common tan that accompanied females due to constant travel did not mar her skin. There was a lightness to it that rivaled the moons glow, its beauty never before compared to even a demoness.
And finally, the hazel of her bright eyes. Their hue of brown was like non other he'd seen, the rarest, no demon, nor human he knew possessed...Their inner love and unspoken understanding joining that rarest of rare.
For a long moment, she had yet to answer, her eyes darting from his floating hair to the golden depths of his irises, almost debating whether to speak. But finally in a small, quiet response, a lone tear rolled down her cheek, its wet shine gliding down the soft curve of her skin.
"...hai."
He always came. He was always there. He never left her. He never grew angry with her. And she'd repaid him with nothing but harsh words that meant 'leave me alone.'
'How could I?...'
Letting her gaze fall from his form perched a few feet above the swaying grass, Rin swallowed hard watching with hazy vision, the cream colored fabric of his hoari shift along the rough branch. Closing them tight, she hugged herself gripping the kimono with might, her knuckles turning an almost white. More tears fell, like mini rain drops of sorrow down to the ground below...
In a weak sob, the young woman spoke, her every word laced with a deep regret.
"...Forgive me my lord, please..."
Her voice cracked, another sob suddenly pushing its way up from the depths of her chest into her heart, and finally out where he could hear.
"...please Sesshomaru, Im so-"
She was unable to complete the cry that was coming from her throat, for a soft hand cupping her face made her suddenly hiccup in shock. The gentle caress of her lords thumb brushed the last of her tears away from the curve of her cheek, stopping when she made not another sound.
Opening her tearfilled eyes slowly, Rin saw the fuisha of his demonic markings, their dark coloring clashing with the soft almost snow-white of his arm. Going over every inch with her eyes upward, over the cream and dark red of his kimono, to the black and grey metal of his armor, farther until reaching the begining of his delicate neck she stopped, afraid of what she might see if daring to look into his those soul catching golden pools of emotion yet again.
Feeling that large hand that could kill with a flick of a wrist if desired, gently tilt her face upwards, Rin swallowed nervously daring to shift her eyes that one last centimeter...
Sesshomaru narrowed his eyes at this woman-child, but not in annoyance or anger, but awe. How was it that she could express such feelings so openly with him? Letting the one person who'd denied her such openness to look into her very heart and soul with just a glance?
The salty scent of sorrow still lingered, yet was now surpressed by the smell of shock and something he couldn't quite point out...
Rin blinked back the remaining tears, and delicately leaned into his open palm with a look of uncertainty, almost afraid she would be pushed away. He took another deep breath and kept his eyes locked with hers, her incredibly intoxicating scent now mixed with...relief.
Sesshomaru caressed her cheek again, this time slower, his gaze following it's movement until a far away expression drowned out his amber gaze. The taiyoukai's usually stoic and indifferent voice finally came forth, its coldness now replaced by the voice Rin had only heard a handful of times in her life...many of which were when she was but a mere child. It's softness floated to her ears and made her heart warm with love for the dog demon before her now.
"..Do not cry Rin. It displeases me when you cry..."
His whisper was that of a siren, almost mesmerizing as the teenager shook her head yes...
They stayed like that just rooted in place, until Rin raised her own hand, gliding her fingers over his arm gently grasping it and closing her eyes.
"..I'm sorry.."
The Inu youkai frowned at this, bringing her closer as he moved his clawed hand to the back of her neck, pushing her towards him. Rin opened her eyes in surprise, finding amber gold eyes close to her own, his forehead gently resting against hers. In a small whisper of his own, he corrected her, his warm breath caressing the sensitive flesh of her own lips,
"No. I am sorry."
Unable to answer him, due to his closeness and absoluete grace, Rin was unable to surpress the urge that had plauged her since the day she'd come to realize...she loved Sesshomaru. Really, loved him.
Letting her eyelids lazily drift almost shut, the young woman leaned her head up catching his unsuspecting lips, in a soft yet demanding kiss...showing just what she was wanting, feeling, needing...
