A Wish Made
Auth not note: I know that this chapter is kind of short, but I’m building up to the main point of the story. Thanks for bearing with me while I fill in the reasons for the plotline. Too everyone that has been emailing me and reviewing my story I love you all. It is the greatest thing in the world to have other people enjoy your writing.
Disclaimer: Don’t own Inuyasha, would love to own Sesshoumaru.
Kagome’s mouth dropped open again. She had never been this close to him before and his dangerously handsome features threatened to overwhelm her. I’ve never been this close to him before. Kami why does some who looks that way have to be so cruel? Cruel….that’s right he is cruel. Who the hell does he think he is? The shock quickly wore off and her eyes narrowed furiously.
“How dare you think you have the right to order me around?” she yelled. “You have no say over my life! If I choose to leave there is nothing you can do about it. What the hell is wrong with you anyway? Why would you care if I left? Oh wait, I’m sorry, the weak and naïve human will not be around to amuse you anymore, right?”
She placed her hands on her hips and glared at him. She attempted to move away from him, but the edge of the well was too narrow. He was too close. It felt like she was suffocating, but she couldn’t get away from him. I am no one’s prey to be stalked and cornered. Inuyasha was never this horrible. How can they even be related? She stared at his full lips so close to hers. No! I can’t think about this right now. Right now? What’s wrong with you Kagome? You shouldn’t even be thng ang about this at all. She closed her eyes. Focus on your wish, she told herself.
“Do not ignore me, miko,” he snarled angrily. Her eyes popped open and involuntarily she laughed. He seemed so much like Inuyasha at that moment, angry that she wasn’t giving him enough attention.
“Will if I want to,” she answered and began to giggle. The look of shock on his face at her childish reply made her laugh even harder. She could feel the hysteria beginning to well up inside of her. No I can’t lose it right now. She brought her hand to her mouth and bit down hard, drawing blood. The pain was sharp and drove away the hysteria. She could feel it still below the surface and knew that had to hurry before she lost all focus and control completely.
Sesshoumaru attempted to grab her, but the shield around her prevented him from even touching her. She smirked at him and closed her eyes.
“What is it that you are planning on doing, miko?” He could hear a raw edge entering his voice, but at the moment did not care. It had been too long since anything had drawn his attention and he wasn’t going to let this little human run away. She amuses me, he told himself. That is all. A lord has so few amusements in his life. I will not let this one get away.
“Didn’t I just tell you what the plan was?” she asked. She opened her eyes and waited. She chose her words carefully, knowing he could smell a lie. “Or did I just imagine that I spoke to you?”
“You said what your plan was, miko. Not what your plan is. Now tell me.”
“How much longer do I have?” She asked the jewel.
“A few minutes and then my strength will give out. It will take me days to regenerate,” came the whispered reply. Kagome sighed softly and stared at Sesshoumaru. His eyes were still red and she knew he would not let her be until she spoke to him. I’ll make this quick, she told herself.
“I’m going to make my wish. I’m going to make everything all right. All of the pain, all of the suffering….it will be gone.” In a blur his eyes changed back to yellow. Kagome took a breath and continued.
“You’ve called me naïve more time than I can count. But I’m not naïve. I’ve killed so many youkai and watched almost everyone I love be killed. All because of Naraku and this damn jewel. Kami, what I would give to still be naïve. To not have felt all this pain, to not have seen the things that I’ve seen.” She felt the tears beginning to pour down her face, but she didn’t care.
“I’m fifteen years old, but I feel like I’m fifty. Where I’m from, fifteen is still a child. But I haven’t been allowed to be fifteen. I’ve had to be a mother, and a priestess, andarriarrior. All I wanted was to be Kagome Higurashi, A teenager. Not the reincarnation of some Kami be damned priestess, not the holder of the Shikon No Tama. I don’t want this, I just don’t want this! I will end it, I will fix it, and none of this will matter anymore!” Her voice rose to a scream towards the end. She dropped her eyes from his feeling exhausted by the emotions that were threatening to overwhelm her.
“So I will fix everything. And I won’t be coming back here again,” she whispered.
“Unacceptable, miko,” he told her. Why does it matter so much, he wondered. I desire her to stay. That is all the reason I need.
“Not your choice, Western Lord,” she told him. She smiled gently. “Good bye.”
She closed her eyes and focused. With a roar Sesshoumaru rushed at her striking continually against the shield. He wasn’t even sure why he was doing this or what he would when he broke through, he just knew he had to break through and stop her. He poured his youki into barrier, feeling it begin to weaken. Kagome’s eyes snapped open when he crashed against the barrier.
“Hurry Kagome, I can’t hold it up much longer,” cried the jewel.
She closed her eyes and focused on Naraku, on the things he had. She focused on her friend’s faces as they had died. And finally she focused on her wish.
“Now Kagome!” screamed the jewel. “Say it aloud now!”
“I wish that man Onigumi and the demon Naraku had never existed!’ she screamed as Sesshoumaru crashed through the barrier and grabbed her by the shoulders. He didn’t even think, he just acted on instinct. Her eyes snapped open as he pulled her up to his face and crushed his lips down on hers hungrily. Her lips parted with shock and he hungrily thrust his tongue into her mouth. She moaned softly and kissim bim back. He pulled back for a moment and stared at her.
“Sesshoumaru?” she asked him in shock. And then she vanished, leaving him holding nothing but air. He threw his head back and howled in rage.
